We stayed at the Paramount Hotel - and they directed us to this breakfast spot right after we got off the elevator. We walked in and saw no available tables. As we turned to sit in a line of chairs to wait, a server barked that we needed to "Get in line!" and pointed to a spot. We shuffled to a different area and waited, ignored for about 5+ minutes. Then the server guided us to a table. We ordered coffee, first thing, as there was no coffee available in the room. And then we ordered our breakfast. The food came out speedily, but no coffee even though we watched the server pour carafes into the mugs of other tables. The woman next to me ordered a mimosa (I remember this as I almost ordered one as well). She got a straight orange juice and asked the server for the correct drink. The server insisted "You didn't order a mimosa!" She did. Point being: the food was fine. The service was less than one star. Maybe the server was having an off day? But her dour expression and unfriendly attitude soured our morning. We actually enjoyed watching her wreak havoc throughout the dining area. Avoid this place. Go anywhere else. Decided to dine at the Spruce Café because it was inside the Paramount Hotel, where we were staying. It wasn't my first choice because of the food offerings but rather the convenience. I tried the smoked salmon frittata and it was bug! Huge portion of eggs and seriously generous portion of smoked salmon on top! Aside from the eggs being a little bit undercooked and watery, it tasted delicious and I was very satisfied with my selection. I opted for the side salad instead of potatoes and the greens came completely undressed. I ended up just mixing theminto the frittata and it was good but I do recommend providing some sort of dressing or topping so that the greens are not as dry. read more

Randomly found this little gem passing by! What a cute little place. Loved the ambiance- very sweet, local, friendly and authentic. Super nice and welcoming personnel, which brings in the homey and sweet vibes and make experience super relaxed and enjoyable. A lot of cool food options you can choose from. Loved the food- "smoked salmon Benedict" is something, and this place have at least 3 options of those!!! With ham or with the fish(salmon), you can definitely find something. Overall everything was delicious and super pretty. Great side of potatoes, could eat them for days! Also, coffees were especially cool. Great cup to start a day. Initially we came in only for those, but everything looked so tasty and smelled so good, that we stayed for a whole meal! Definitely advising this place to everyone!!!!!! I'd intended to walk down to Ludi's but didn't feel like it so I tried the Spruce Café in the hotel. I ended up ordering one of my favorite dishes ... Chicken and Waffle ($21) and coffee ($4.75). This was a very interesting take on this dish ... the chicken came as a string of six pieces of battered, fried chicken sitting on two (easy over) eggs, atop a Belgian-style waffle. A dusting of powdered sugar over the chicken and a small container of maple syrup completed the dish. I asked my server to request the kitchen make the waffle extra crispy as the heat from the chicken and eggs softens the middle of the waffle. Alas, it didn't come that way so I scarfed down the chicken and eggs so I could eat a somewhat crispy waffle. Cute little cafe inside the hotel. The buttermilk pancakes are to die for. They were mouth watering and cooked to perfection, I ordered mine without the mascarpone. The Bischoff Latte was good, but a bit too sweet for my liking. Our waiter Juan was amazing! Really welcoming, friendly and provided us with some tips and recommendations while visiting Seattle. In town for a conference from Dallas and have been searching for a yummy, reasonably priced breakfast spot and I am so glad I found Spruce Cafe!! They open at 7am everyday and are located in the Paramount Hotel just steps from the convention center. Real deal espresso and yummy flavored espresso drinks (I got a PSL in APRIL y'all!), and great food. A huge bowl of fresh fruit for $6, incredibly delicious Greek yogurt for $4, and the most delicious honey I've ever had IN MY LIFE. Service was good, especially considering they got pretty busy after I got there. The cafe itself is super cute with a clean atheistic. Love it. My only suggestion is whomever is making their sourdough bread needs to add more salt to the dough but, the sourdough flavor itself was great - very tangy! read more

When this location was The Dragonfish, we ate breakfast regularly, so we decided to give the new incarnation a try, and are glad we did. The service was friendly and efficient, the Bloody Mary was tasty, and we enjoyed our brunch. My wife had the french toast, which was gorgeous and huge and, according to her, very good. In the day, the location is Spruce Cafe and in the evening, it is Chan Seattle. At Spruce, they serve a small but varied breakfast menu and the presentation and taste was on point. Our friends said the Cobb was good, but the Salmon Fritata was basically scrambled eggs and a few veggies, with smoked salmon and blob of cream cheese. NOT a fritata. Went here in December and it was absolutely delicious. Not sure what happened, but this was like a $50 Denny's breakfast. Omelette was served with a block of cream cheese on top and nothing inside cooked. Cold smoked salmon inside of an egg wasn't appealing. Potatoes also cold and gigantic chunks. My husband's Benedict was made with what looked like HorMel lunch meat. We stayed a Saturday night at the Paramount Hotel after a Kraken game. Being a planner, I checked out the Yelp reviews of Spruce Cafe, which looked great. I checked the brunch menu and saw a few items I would've liked to try. Lastly, I checked their hours. I told you I'm a planner! Their website, www.sprucecafeseattle.com, points you to their Facebook, which indicates they are open until 2 pm. Perfect, we had a few other things we wanted to do, so we planned to do those things and eat brunch around noon. We walked in around 11:50 am and the hostess said "Oh, last call for food was 11:45." I've heard of bars staying open after the kitchen closes, but cafes? I thought maybe 5 minutes was negotiable, so I showed her that their Yelp, Google, and Facebook (which they link to from their own website) all say 2 pm, and she said "Oh, yeah, I know, we should change that." It's now been a week and it's still not changed, so I guess they're not in a hurry. Left here hangry, which is a portmanteau of angry & hungry. Just like brunch is a portmanteau of breakfast and LUNCH. You know, lunch, the meal typically eaten around the noon hour? New rule: If you stop serving food before noon, you can't call it lunch or any other word ending in -unch. read more

The Biscoff latte was incredible. I've never had Shashuka before but it was an amazing decision. It is rare that you can find a restaurant that doesn't overcook their eggs. We stopped by this cafe for breakfast over the weekend. The restaurant was busy, but we managed to be seated after a short wait. Staff seemed a bit green working, but they were trying. We ordered a number of items - baked egg, Dungeness crab benedict, a side of sausage, orange juice, Americano and biscoff latte. The Americano and orange juice arrived first followed by the food. The latte was the last to arrive. The timing was a bit off for the drinks. I thoroughly enjoyed the baked egg dish. It was a hearty breakfast with the meat sauce, cheese and eggs. The sourdough bread paired nicely to soak up the flavours. I also enjoyed the biscoff latte. I have not seen it elsewhere before so it was a sweet latte to start off the morning. My toddler enjoyed the orange juice and side of sausage. My husband enjoyed his crab benedict. I took a bite of his meal. There was a good amount of crab meat. The avocado added some richness and creaminess to the benedict. The egg was soft poached as requested and there was a decent amount of hollandaise sauce. Overall, it was a tasty meal to start off the day. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area. Staff were helpful when asking for additional cutlery and straws. I was terribly disappointed that the 1/2lb Waygu was a thin, overcooked, pre-formed patty seemingly smaller than a McDonalds burger patty. 1/2lb should be a lot of burger meat.
