Browsing through Yelp, and saw there was a restaurant that was serving a Vietnamese style breakfast, so was super excited to try it out. It relatively near downtown, but its by the waterfront so depending on how you get to the area it may be a little hard to find, if you are like me and had to figure how to get down there from the other side of the viaduct. Coming in, it look like your average Seattle cafe, but with pictures of the opla on the walls. Opla are basically versions of the American skillet with eggs and various types of meat, normally the hot dog or can variety, but some times grilled meats served with a baguette. There are tons of options for opla, but I went with the Hawaiian option which is spam and pulled pork. You can add pate to the plate was well, which is a nice touch as it pretty traditional in Vietnam to have it with opla. I loved the opla that I as it totally reminds me of Saturday morning breakfast that my mom would make for me. The egg was a nice runny sunny side up, and the baguette was warm, great for dipping into the egg yolk. I wish it was a more full size baguette though. Spam is spam, but the pulled pork was in a sweet sauce, that I don't normally associate with Hawaiian Kuala pork, but still good. I got the spicy sate sauce to go with it, which gave everything a spicy kick. Will have to be back to try the other options. read more

Another great Yelp find. We were in Seattle for the weekend and looking for a breakfast spot and boy did we find it. We walked down and found this small yet very satisfying restaurant. My husband ordered the America skillet with tots and I ordered the avocado sandwich with a side of pork sausage meatballs. My husband devoured his. The bacon was slightly undercooked for his liking but it didn't stop him from eating it. The eggs were perfectly cooked so the luscious yolk ran over the other food on the skillet. I can't have butter or milk and I didn't think about asking if there was milk in my eggs and after I ordered and before the food came out I went up to double check. Indeed they do put milk in their eggs. She told me it was no problem and that they would do the eggs sunny side up. I was super appreciative that they accommodated me. When the sandwich came out, it looked amazing. The bread was to die for. It was perfectly baked with a nice crunchy exterior to hold up to the runny egg yolks and soft avocados. I did add some Sriracha which I thought added the perfect amount of heat. I didn't love the meatballs, but I think it was more of a personal preference, the texture was a little soft for my liking. All and all, this place is a 12 out if 10 though I hate to leave this review because I don't want to have a long wait the next time I'm in town. read more

After you can find a place to park, you'll find this cafe tucked into a corner in a building called World Trade Center. Opla is a small cafe serving skillet breakfasts and baguette sandwiches with pan Asian flavors and ingredients. I wanted to like it, but it seemed like they took a bunch of stuff from Costco and rearranged it into breakfast items. I wasn't convinced they actually made anything. All of the meats lacked crispness, and the eggs were watery. Then, they made the cardinal brunch sin: limp bacon. Sigh. Never disappointed when I come here. I've had the Vietnam, Korea, and Philippines Opla. All were yummy. My favorite is the Vietnam because the meatball is full of flavor and juicy! Fried egg is cooked perfectly, crispy and partly runny. The concept & the location is a bright idea. Various country flavors located inside the World Trade Center, genius. Service is fast (not fast food fast) with just enough check ins on how the food is and water. Linda is a wonderful host! She's also one of the owners and you can tell right away she cares about all her customers. She's a sweetheart! Clean establishment! They have an "excellent" rating for the inspection posted on the window. They have Stumptown coffee, tried the latte and that was yummy. Also had their viet ice coffee, strong and delicious, just how it's supposed to be. Price: given that they are on the pier, the pricing is very fair. Tip: spend the 50 cents on the pate! The big surprise was the tofu and the wonderful freshly baked bread that came with it. Cafe Opla is easily a go-to place for brunch! Food: I was very pleased with such a great meal served here. It is a great place to come to if you want variety and a hearty breakfast/brunch. They are known for their oplas which consists of meat + veggies, and 2 sunny side eggs served on a hot skillet. They have variations of the meat/veggies that reflect different regions such as Vietnam, Philippines, Korea, Hawaii, and America. I ordered the Opla Vietnam, which features meatballs, grilled pork, and pickled vegetables, and the Opla Philippines which features meatballs, longanisa sausage, and tomatoes with fried garlic. Both tasted really good and the portions were worth the price of about $10 each. The Asian in us ordered both with rice, but the owner recommended their baguette because it's really good. So of course we had to try it and we're glad we did! The bread is the perfect texture. The pate that is served on the side compliments it so well and it is by far the best pate I've ever had. Service: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food came out quickly. Great spot for breakfast especially if you're on your way to the sculpture garden! It is kind of in between the sculpture Garden and pikes Place market. They have delicious coffee both hot drip coffee and Vietnamese ice style, I believe they serve Stumptown coffee. The breakfast /lunch is reasonably priced and there are so many options it's difficult to choose what to eat! There are many different types of Asian breakfast styles and an American style. Really cool find! Opla from all over the world, so had to try the Korean Opla. I don't eat meat so I had the Korean bbq on the side (for the boyfriend) and rice on the side. I came here for a quick bite to eat after a workout and ended up staying for 2+ hours. Linda was the most welcoming server I have had in my life, I have traveled alot in this country. Linda offered the best service, friendliness and comfort. I recommend everyone that comes to Seattle to spend some time here to have a good authentic bite to eat and overall great atmosphere. While still a place I will visit infrequently, changes to the business model makes it a less desirable experience than before. Moving from a counter order system to a wait staff seems to have tripled the amount of time it takes to get your food. Expanding the menu might have impacted wait times as well. I have been meaning to visit Cafe Opla, but never had the chance due to a tight schedule. This morning I managed to free up an hour and find a convenient parking spot across the street. I came in and ordered a the Regular Baguette 4" sandwich and the Hawaii skillet, along with an iced Chai and iced Vietnamese cafe sua da. There was a line if 4-5 customers before and after our order, so we weren't surprised it took about 15 minutes for the food to arrive. The two drinks were out within 5 minutes, just had to remember to get straws which are hidden in plain sight. The regular sandwich was a bit plain for me, I should've ordered one of the more flavorful variations. The Hawaii skillet came out delicious, and both drinks were definitely a treat. All in all. I would like to revisit and try a couple more different items on their menu and see how I like it. Oh, there is also a 20 minute limit for beverage-only customers, and seating can be difficult especially if there are more than 2 in your party. read more

The quality of food is pretty tasty and nice to look at there's just not very much of it so don't come here if you are really hungry, I would say their coffee is some of the best I've ever had, I got the Vietnamese iced coffee and it was to die for. Always delicious! I work upstairs in the World Trade Center so I pop by here often for lunch. They have really good and reasonably priced sandwiches and their oplas are tasty, too (I always get Opla Hawaii). Staff is always kind and friendly! One of my favorite drinks to get here in the summer is a lavender italian soda with cream, plus their coffee is great (pretty sure they serve Stumptown). It was 17 dollars and came with 2 eggs 6 greasy tater tots that were soaked in old oil , pulled pork , and spam all of which were drenched in oil and tasted mid at best.My girlfriend ordered a breakfast sandwich and the only thing that was warm was the eggs and the bacon was RAW. Employees didn't have nametags or any indicator of them working there, mumbled everything, and ontop of that all of the utensils were in this tin can where people stored thier dirty napkins and used silverware.
