Cafe Orleans was a fun sit-down dining option at Disneyland, with the added bonus that it is in one of my favorite parts of the park, New Orleans Square. It's just so adorable, everywhere you look! I had never done sit-down dining at Disney until this trip at the end of June 2022-- I made a reservation ahead of time and checked in on the day of. We were seated almost immediately, indoors where there was excellent AC and it was nice and relaxing on a hot summer day in Anaheim. Our wait staff was kind and quick with service, and it was an enjoyable lunch respite away from the bustling crowds. We had the tuna tartare and the Monte Cristo sandwich, as well as the mint julep! The mint julep was excellent and I still think about it at least once a week. It came with refills so we drank a lot of mint julep throughout the meal, yummm. Refreshing, light, and definitely a highly recommended beverage. The tuna tartare was delicious, fresh, and light, and plated in a way that was pleasing to the eye. The root chips that we ate it with provided some variety and good saltiness. The Monte Cristo sandwich was good too, not too salty, although I wish there was a bit less batter on the outside fried part. I wanted to taste the inside of the sandwich a little more. The reservation even asked us if we were celebrating something, but waitress Patricia didn't even acknowledge it. It was very raw around the meat that we really had to pick it apart to eat it. The short rib was probably the best choice among our group. Made reservations for two right at the 60 day mark before my Disney date and we got one of the last reservations. There are usually cancellations that come through so check back frequently if you're wanting to try this spot out. Outdoor seating gives you some nice views of the river (or some current construction of Pirates of the Caribbean), but being shaded on these hot days was a major plus. Our staff was very friendly as well. You can check in on the app and about 5-10 minutes after your schedule reservation, you are seated. Cafe Orleans is pretty well known for their Monte Cristo sandwich, so of course we had to order. It's a heavy one so I recommend sharing! We had to ask for some napkins to pat down the grease when it arrive and after we did that it tasted 100x better. it was like a fried slim stuffed donut with plentiful turkey and ham. It played with the sweet savory line and sometimes leaning more on the sweet side especially dipped in the orange jam. It was a unique sandwich, I haven't had elsewhere so I would recommend trying it at least once! The Monte Cristo was served with fries which were scrumptious. Right amount of crisp with soft interior and seasoned very well. Love the aioli served with it too. We also ordered the shrimp & grits. Surprisingly there was so much shrimp. We were able to make reservations on the Yelp app and had a chance to try this place out. We ordered the monte cristo, the chicken gumbo, with a side of pomme frites. Apparently, back in the day you had to order the monte cristo and the pomme frites separately, but now, the monte cristo is a half order with pomme frites. The Ratatouille Farro Risotto was delicious (great vegetarian option). Other people in my party enjoyed the Blackened shrimp pasta, Beef Bourguignon and Cajun chicken. I ordered the famous Monte Cristo sandwich. I've been here before and I remembered it was a large portion so I told the server I would share the dish with my hubby. When it came, they had forgotten the extra dish. So I have to ask for it. But it was not enough. Their portions have gotten smaller. I'm glad I had some fries. They filled me up. The chicken was super juicy inside, and crispy on the outside. The squash was so well seasoned and juicy, but not smooshy. The fries were also super well seasoned and the sauce that came with it was so good. We negotiated the difficult reservations gauntlet and scored an opening for our family party of nine all for a California original: the Monte Cristo sandwich. And they were gloriously beer-battered, with the most scrumptious Parmesan cheese-sprinkled pommes frites (steak fries) on the side. When my sandwich showed up without any ham along with the turkey and Swiss cheese we noticed they are made as a roll with a large sheet of bread sponge or dough-- my sandwich cut off from the end of the roll-- an ingenious solution for holding together well compared to the layered sandwich bread approach-- but the quality control is obviously crowd-impacted here. That said they delivered up a new sandwich for me. Yet when a sandwich like this, as yummy as it is, will set you back ~$25 with tax and tip, not including a drink, you want to see Disneyland deliver. In reality, our service was quite bad. They split our party up into two smaller tables nearby each other, but not next to each other, and didn't serve hot food to the second table until the first was nearly finished eating. The $10-12 kids meals (we ordered mac & cheese, farro risotto, and sautéed shrimp) were all uniformly quite subpar for the cost, too-- well except for the awesome fries. My party of 4 ordered: Monte Cristo, Steak Frites, and White Bean Hummus. Now, what we must talk about. THE NEW POMME FRITES. The old pomme frites were near and dear to my heart (arguably some of the best fries I've ever had). I'm happy to report the new fries are just as good! They are cut much thicker and fried harder than the old versions. My fiance liked both the same amount, but I liked the new ones better. Thanks to the new thicker cut, I think there's a lot more crunch AND a lot more fluff. So what's not to love? And don't forget to ask for extra remoulade ALWAYS. The monte cristo is the same as before and it is just as yummy. The steak frites were also tasty! Obviously the fries (pomme frites) were amazing. The steak itself was cooked to perfection and I really loved the green sauce on top. It was herby and provided that freshness that is needed to contrast the pomme frites. Food at Disneyland is usually pretty good imo. Better than other theme parks so when you have to make a reservation for a restaurant for a meal, you expect it to be amazing. We luckily got a reservation for when they opened and we were happy with our decision, overall. We had come for the monte cristo's so we all ordered one but we supplemented with the stone fruit salad and gumbo. Of the dishes, we enjoyed the salad and the gumbo. The salad was fresh from the fruit and the arugula. The burrata itself was a bit tough. The gumbo, when hot, was full of flavor and they all felt like a warm hug. The monte cristos were OK. They were just so heavy with it already being an oily sandwich but then you get it deep fried so it's oil plus more oil. It is shareable and I think it is worth a bite to try the flavors but do not order one for yourself and order it instead as an appetizer or a teaser for the table. That said, while the food was decent, just being able to sit there, people watch, and surround yourself with the music and joy of Disneyland was a good break from going from ride to ride. If you can get a reservation, I'd say check it out. It feels like one of those places you should try to say you've tried. If you've gone, I wouldn't necessarily say you need to go back. After a long day of running and riding through the park we figured let's slow down and have a decent meal. Nestled above Pirates of the Caribbean is a very unassuming restaurant. Everyone know about the Blue Bayou in Pirates and we didn't love the menu options so we figured we would give this a shot. Overall way overpriced for the size and flavor at $16.00 Short rib - Shockingly good, the demi-glaze was amazing and the meat itself was soft as butter, even the mushrooms were good and I hate mushrooms.I forgot i was eating this in the middle of disneyland. $28.00 and dare I say WORTH IT Creme Brulee - WOW... this was really good and worth it at $11.00 TIP: there are no bathrooms in the restaurant it is down the front entrance past the blue bayou on the left. Drinks: Iced Tea - Standard Lipton fare Booking Process: Tables come in and out of availability so keep checking the app. We ate well before dinner and were able to book no problem. Service: Waitress was good and busboys bring the food when its ready. Overall no complaints here. Seating: This was pretty bad honestly, uncomfortable tables and chairs for what amounts to a $50.00 a person meal. Overall the food was excellent shockingly so! Café Orleans is a restaurant located at New Orleans Square within Disneyland California. You can book reservations online for the restaurant or join the wait-list walk-up. My partner and I visited Disneyland on a Thursday. We decided to stop by Café Orleans around 1:00 P.M for lunch. We didn't have a reservation, so, we ended up getting on the walk-up waitlist. It was about a 15 minute wait for a party of two. The restaurant opened in 1966 and has been serving Cajun-Creole style food. It's a casual table service dining experience. Annual pass is accepted at this restaurant. We ended up sitting outside, right next to the musicians that were playing. My partner and I also were able to see the Mark Twain Riverboat on the Rivers of America. If you get a chance to look inside the restaurant, you'll see character displays such as The Princess and the Frog. You'll also be able to view the original espresso machine that Walt Disney would use for his own brew. The lunch menu consists of starters, entrees, desserts, kids selections, and non-alcoholic beverages. Reviewing the menu, we had decided to order the following Starters: Ratatouille Crostini Late Harvest Summer Vegetables, Tomato Salad, Aged Balsamic ( $16.00) Cup of Chicken Gumbo Andouille Sausage, Tasso Ham, Rice ($7.00) Entrees (Shared): Battered & Fried Monte Cristo Sandwich Sliced Turkey, Ham and Swiss with Pommes Frites ($21.00) 1 order of the Mint flavored drink. Our family has been going to Disneyland since opening day 1955. My mom was manager at the Hills Bros Coffee Shop on Main St (no longer there). The experience at Cafe Orleans was ridiculous. And of course/ reservations on a weekend/ long weekends are a must. I had a reservation in downtown Disney but I canceled it thinking i wouldn't need it. Oh yea I was way wrong. Luckily, I was able to get on a waitlist for a walk up. Took about 1.5 hours and evenings right now are cold at Disney. It was still a warm welcoming refuge as I remembered! Got hot chocolate to start my meal with: the menu was smaller than i remember. We tried the crazy cheesy deep fried sandwich: aka the Monte Cirsto! It's not for me but I can see why it's popular. The grilled shrimp, rice, salad and chicken gumbo. The warm and gooey part of my meal = the cup of gumbo!! It was just soul warming especially after an all day at Disney. Especially in a cold evening in current spring but not spring ish weather. I came a few weeks ago. Begging of March and evenings are cold. We tried the dessert too but i remembered having more elaborate desserts before like beignets. Now they don't have anything. Macarons I remember. But that was it. No pasta or risotto. One chicken dish, salad dish and Monte Cirstos! I still had fun regardless. They closed at 9 pm I believe. We were the last to leave and right out into the street for their amazing light show! I just love this place. They have indoor and outdoor seating. It's not as crowded as pre-Covid but it's still a little squishy for me. I was able to get reservations for 7:30 pm. They do walks in but they can get full before you get there. It's best to check the app first before walking over. 7:30 is one of the latest seatings and the employees were nice but seemed to be in a rush to finish up. Unfortunately, we were snacking all over the park because 7:30 for us is a late dinner. We weren't very hungry but coffee & tea and dessert is great! Coffee was weak for us. I believe it's Joffrey. I got a nice hot cup of water and two choices of tea bags, earl grey or breakfast, with honey & lemon. They came back with more hot water later which is better than the metal pot of hot water that usually gets cold. We've had the crème brûlée in the past and it's normal and good. There's nothing to set it apart to make it excellent. We decided on the macarons and the seasonal Mardi Gras cream puff, pate a choux with tri colored crunch, filled with vanilla crème brûlée and served with warm banana foster sauce this time. I don't know what happened to my sweet tooth. This was super sweet to me and I love sweet. The sauce is brown sugar and the banana slices were a little mushy. There was a bit of crunchy sugar on the pastry. However, it seemed a bit mushy. We have found Disney to usually do pretty good, eye catching, creative, tasty desserts. The multi colored macaroons had different flavors but we weren't very impressed. It was still nice to sit, snack, and relax. Next time, I'm ordering my favorite Monte Cristo! read more

A great stop in the parks. Their "tasting" menu is wonderful. Eating here isn't all salt and you won't feel gross when you continue on. If you can, try to get seated with Stephen. He was so nice and kind; also aware of everything, he knows what you need before you know you need it. Highly recommend dining here if you get reservations. read more

The food was good, but I had two complaints: first, my food wasn't that warm. It was on the room temperature side of warm. Second, the menu is very limited; they could use an actual fish dish or something. The steak, even though it was a little more done than I ordered, was quite good, and the fries were standouts. I do miss the garlic fries that they had before the pandemic. The mardi gras pre-fixe looks delicious, and I hope it sticks around: the corndogs and pork chop sound like they should be regular dishes on the menu. Really, if they made sure the food was hot coming out and put some more stuff on the menu, I would enthusiastically support this place. read more

Two things: pomme frites and mint julep! These are the two main reasons why I'd come back here... well those and the fact that if you dine indoors, it's got nice A/C too. This experience has made to promise to always make a reservation for a sit down place for every Disneyland trip. I had such a great experience here with the unlimited mint julep refills! I also ordered the monte cristo and the tuna tartare. I know they're famous for the monte cristo but the best part about the dish is the deliciously seasoned pomme frites (fries). The sandwich, itself, is a bit greasy. Especially when compared to park food, this place is quality. I'll be coming back here for sure. Oh, make sure you make a reservation online! Got the Cajun roasted chicken and my husband got the braised beef short rib the food was awful the meat was dry as well as the chicken and veggies that came with the plate. Save your money go to plaza inn and get the chicken there it is 10x better. Honestly would've preferred going to anywhere else but this place, super disappointed and not worth the hype. read more
