Loved everything about this place. You had me at Organic food & dog friendly patio! I've ate here multiple times now and every single time it's on point and delicious. Great service, which is a huge bonus in these times! Farm fresh, organic produce! I LOVE their maca matcha latte, chai latte and the house-made nut milks! The Hash is filling and tasty. I often have one if their daily specials! I often find myself desiring Cafe Phoenix' Huevos Rancheros. Or, their Grilled Toast. Or.... their salads..... or.... anything they serve! Safe to say, after 30 years in Humboldt County, I have been to a lot of local restaurants and love many. But, organic, locally-sourced ingredients matter more and more to me and my grown kids. Cafe Phoenix is our go-to place to eat. Real food costs slightly more.... that's a fact. Simple, delicious vegetables, beans, rice, however, cost less. We shared a dish because it is kind of pricey. But the food was so fantastic. We had the omlette with a split side of salad and potatoes. The potatoes were cooked perfectly and the dressing on the salad was awesome. We should have ordered one each. Oj was fresh but expensive. Even though it is pricey, all the food come from local farms and the menu can change daily. This makes it worth it and worth going back to try new dishes. Definitely will eat there again when visiting Arcata. read more

We came here for breakfast 3 days in a row during our stay in Arcata. They have a menu full of hearty and healthy options with lots of options for vegan and/or gluten-free folks. Favorites included: chia seed bowl, breakfast burrito, and the grilled toast. Coffee was strong too! They have solid Covid protocol in place except for the self serve coffee station(which makes sense as we are starting to see less evidence for contracting the virus via surfaces). The outdoor dining was a game changer-- it's very spacious and next to their lush garden that grows some of the food they make. We enjoyed starting our day here before hiking in the redwoods. I stopped in for lunch, new to the area and looking for something healthy and tasty. This is the first place I've found so far which reminds me of the norm where I moved from. The salad was huge and excellent, fresh and delicious. I had a latte of some kind, can't remember the name, but it was piping hot and good as well. I wish there were more places like this around, especially in Eureka, but I will take what I can get! read more

I had the most amazing brunch this last Sunday! It's a great place for groups. People can order individually at the counter so no having to split bills 10 different ways. They had a jazz band playing out in their beautiful garden. I was so happy we chose to get brunch here!! read more

Ingredients great, presentation solid, and I love the fact that you take a number instead of having a full blown FOH. But the taste was boring. My potatoes lacked seasoning, and could have been crunchier. The poached egg was great, I loved the color of the yolk. My grilled vegetables lacked character. The place is quite loud when a few people are there. I guess because of a cement floor. The food is quite tasteless. I ordered the first item - classis phoenix- it was some absolutely bland rice with two eggs and more taste free vegetables. They just steer fry with no spice or salt. The only way you could eat is to add their sauce which you can freely use. But the food itself is really awful. My wife ordered the "good bowl" and that was the same. We've eaten here twice since this new farm-to-table place opened. Really a terrific addition to Arcata's breakfast and lunch scene. The menu is limited but tasty, wholesome and interesting, and it seems to change every day.
