    Free kids quesadilla and chips

The food here is really good. My family has been raving about it since we came here about a week ago (ABOUT A WEEK AGO!!!!!!) *throws hat in the air* If you know, you know! I'm sure people are comparing it to chipotle, but it's more like chipotle on steroids. They don't play with the portion, and they will pour cheese and sauce over everything if you'd like (Me Likey). Best burrito I have had in years. Once you choose your entree, they will run it through an oven, and then put all your extras on the side. This is perfect for anyone who hates the all guacamole/sour cream bite you get at chipotle. This is one of my new faves in the area just off of 1 visit. I can't wait to go back with the family, but I might sneak out on a solo trip if it doesn't happen again soon. Enjoy!

    Cafe Rio in Severna Park

Bottom Line: Quick serve Mexican inspired cuisine. Any new restaurant in SP is a very welcome addition and that includes Cafe Rio which serves salad, burritos, tacos, quesadillas and such. The concept is similar to Chipotle or Qdoba but what I like about Cafe Rio compared to other quick serve Mexican spots is the spinning tortilla griddle. Ultimately the tortillas are a bit thicker than I prefer but I enjoy watching them puff up and get cooked on the spinning griddle in advance of placing my order assembly-line style. So far I've only had the salads at Cafe Rio but one day I might branch out and try daily special or the nachos. Specials include things like shrimp tacos. If you order nachos they'll sing Nacho Man (a variation on the Village People's Macho Man) which is a bit much for me being I'm an introvert! I've been to two different Cafe Rio locations (SP and San Diego) and I found them to be consistent. Cafe Rio has Coca-Cola fountain products, iced tea and various other non-alcoholic beverage options.

    Enchilada Burrito

Other Cafe Rio restaurants are generally pretty good but my experience with the Severna Park location has made me come out of Yelp retirement just to leave this garbage level review. We ordered using the app to make sure everything would be accurate. The order looks correct and when it was time to eat, we couldn't be anymore wrong. Wife ordered the Nachos with the sweet pork without beans. Expected to get the guacamole, pico, and sour cream but nope, all we got was a tiny amount of sweet pork and queso on top. Next was the enchilada burrito. Everything looks ok until I start eating, and it's missing the sweet pork and the habanero sauce! I can live with it missing other things but you cannot forget the main ingredient! I wouldn't have written this review if my burrito had the sweet pork. We drove over 30 mins away so we couldn't easily complain, and we couldn't just leave since we are both teleworking. Stay away from this place! We will gladly drive further to other Cafe Rio's rather than order here again!

If you don't get the sweet pork here, you're crazy! This restaurant is one of my favorites. Their sweet pork salad with everything in it is absolutely unbeatable in flavor and texture. Expect to pay about $10 for lunch here but the portions are gigantic and it's hard to finish one entree in one sitting. The restaurant is always clean and the staff is pretty nice. I like all the natural light that flows in from the windows. They also play music, which is nice. They do 50% off for military on Mondays which is a MASSIVE discount!!! Taco Tuesdays and Salad Thursdays are also really good deals. I LOVE THIS PLACE!

    Shredded chicken burrito... YUM!

My husband and I drove past Cafe Rio when we were on our way to Ocean City and he insisted we come try it soon. Glad I listened to his suggestion - this place is legit! It's similar to Chipotle/Qdoba in that you get in a line and decide on your selections along the way. One key difference is that they top your burrito with queso and run it through a little oven - yum! I personally chose the shredded chicken burrito and it was phenomenal. The portions are enormous (and very fairly priced in my opinion)so knowing that now next time my husband and I will share a burrito! The employees are friendly, the place is super clean , the prices are reasonable and the food is delicious!

Very delicious food! The quantity is great and everything is so fresh. The salsa and the lettuce feel like they're made fresh. All the meat also taste healthy and great. Definitely recommend.

    Busy, family friendly, tasty treat!

It's a small place compared to a few of the larger places in our area, but that's just fine. This restaurant is worthy of your time! I was looking for something out of the norm and I was not disappointed! From the moment we walked into this lively restaurant to the wonderful aromas, we knew this was going to be a stellar experience! We were greeted promptly and told we could pick a table. We were promptly brought menus and asked for what drinks we wanted. I opted for a Tropical Pina Margarita and hubby got Sandia Chile Margarita. Came very quick and we liked them so much we got another. We could have stopped at the house made salsa that had a smoky flavor and didn't look like it was poured from a jar in the back. The chips were outstanding. We opted to get some queso dip and it was just as good! Better than any other place we have had it. For dinner, my hubby opted for the Cameron Tacos on corn tortillas as he is a celiac. He remarked that it was the first time that he had corn tacos that were *solid*-meaning the taco stayed in shape and didn't fall apart while eating. The slaw was crispy, not overpowering, the pico de gallo was spicy, but not in the burn your tongue sense. He also liked the accompanying black beans and rice. I had Michelin Tacos. The first bite of mine was a bacon wrapped shrimp in a flour taco with a very pleasing sauce. The second one I had was chicken and it was just amazing. Nice slices of chicken with a pretty spicy sauce. Since I'm a big fan of spicy, this was amazing! The last one was steak, and I mean a nice piece of steak! Very tender, not overcooked! I couldn't tell you my favorite, because they were all equally delicious. Juan took very good care of us! Great evening and we will most certainly be back! To all of you that may like the *larger restaurants* on Ritchie Highway, please do yourself a favor and seek one of these stores out! We live closest to the Severna Park location, but all the stores seem to get good feedback! This is so out of the ordinary and definitely worthy of your time!

They handed me this thing off chips with salsa that was enough for five regular people or two Joshuas. The chips were good, fresh, slightly warm. The salsa was fantastic, though a little cilantro forward for someone who thinks it's soap. I ordered a chicken chimichanga for my main. I'll be honest, I'm not sure what came out qualifies as a chimichanga -- it wasn't deeply fried (or baked), and was covered with a cheese sauce like a smothered burrito. Maybe someone sent me the wrong thing? I don't bite. But, it was delicious. The sauce actually greatly complemented everything, and it was evenly seasoned. I'll definitely be back the next time I pass that way.

I'm not sure if there was supposed to be chicken in it, didn't find any. It was corn, beans, tomatoes and a thin stock. Soup was lukewarm, not hot. Dressing on top looked attractive. Chips were the best part. I got the drunken shrimp tacos which I expected more from. Three small tacos and a small lukewarm serving of rice. Platter could have been filled out with beans, chips and a heavier serving of condiments on the tacos instead of the barren looking plate for $16.50 We also got the Queso Fresco Chicken Tacos... bland overcooked chicken. The salsas were good. Small side of rice. $15.50 There are a lot of Mexican places to compare to and it is very easy to fill out a plate with inexpensive ingredients like rice, beans, cheese, salsa, limes and fresh herbs... these platters had very little of that. Just underwhelming for a $48 quick lunch (40 + tip) that left us unimpressed with quantity and quality. I'll try this place again some busy summer day when the margaritas are flowing and the kitchen is busy. Perhaps this was just because we went on a slow winter day, but I expected more. It looks like a fun bar on a crowded day. Plenty of room and festive decorations.

The sauce was overpowering in the pork belly, but a good size street taco. May need to go light (or on the side) on the sauce next time. The Pacifica was yummy and not greasy, and again generous in the filling considering it's a street taco. No chips or salsa on the house here, but lots of sharables to nibble with tequila anything if you wanna live on the edge beyond water on the rocks thing. Parking is simple.
