To be fair, I'm from Texas where the Tex-Mex cannot be beat! There were two of us and arrived on a Wednesday evening at 8 pm and still had an hour wait. We learned there are concerts on Wednesday's and avoid! Also, they seated a family of four that arrived a good 15 minutes after us about 10 minutes before seating us. And only after we questioned the hostess were we seated. I had cheese and beef enchiladas, beans and rice. I really liked the enchiladas-very cheesy! I wasn't a fan of the beans. The rice was just ok. My husband had a shrimp citrus salad that he said was wonderful. However, he ordered a beer and our server blamed the bartender being backed up but we were seated where we watched his beer sitting for over 5 minutes. I had to stop him twice from getting up to get it!She topped it off but it wasn't ice cold like it should have been. She brought it just before dinner was served. Would have gone great with the chips and salsa! I actually think they did their best under the circumstances of the concert crowd, but unfortunately did not earn 5 stars. read more

My wife and I stopped by this place after a day of sight seeing in the area. They have a lot of choices on the menu. So making a choice can take some time. We decided on an appetizer and a main dish. The plate of Nachoes was a meal in its self. Our main dishes were also of great proportion. They all had good flavor. So come hungry. Cafe Sabor is an excellent restaurant in the West Yellowstone area. The food is fresh and flavorful, mas rico! I would say that for Mexican cuisine this is one of the best restaurants I have been to, the cocktails also are well made. WOW! I can't believe the food is this good out in the middle of nowhere, Idaho. I got the Pollo Durango and Coconut Soup and both were surprisingly sophisticated and totally savory. For me this is a step up from traditional Mexican fare anywhere you go. The flavors here stand up to, or even above, any of my favorite Mexican restaurants. What a find! This review goes out to the owners. You have a really nice place, great food and the employees are super friendly. However... You have organized chaos in the front of the house. Our waiter was great but he was playing hostess, bartender and everything else. I saw groups of folks one right after another including us just sit in the lobby with no one greeting them. You need a hostess of front of house manager to handle your guests and sit them. You also have waiters covering all over. They were struggling. The bussers also did well and with them the waiters were always having to apologize for little things. Now you food it was great. I have to say so great that It would be sad to see this place fail because of the disorganized front of the house. Foodies despite the front of house issues. The food was fabulous. I had the burrito supreme as well as my son. My wife has the fajita burrito and my daughter the fajitas. Not a complaint on food quality at all. It was fast hot and delicious. My friends and I are fairly sure that they have mixed up the salt and the sugar and not known. That's the only explanation for how terrible the food was. The enchiladas clearly were filled with A LOT of sugar, so much it was inedible. We ordered margaritas with Cointreau, Tequilla, and Lime juice, with a salt rim, just as presented on the menu, they were brought out a premixed marg with a sugar rim, sweet and sour, and no Cointreau. After much debate we sent it back for new ones at which time we were told that all the margs have sweet and sour, not what was represented in the menu, the second round was terrible as well. The pork tacos were sour, the beef and chicken was flavorless. Overall a terrible experience with horrid food, and to really drive it home when discussing our experience with locals, we were told "Oh Yea that place is terrible. read more

We stopped to have a quick bite, but endup overeating since entire menu was really appealing :) We got Spinach dip, Mexican rolls, Coconut soup, Guac and chips, and a couple of salads and kids quesadilla - and this is for 3 adults and a kid! This is one of the best Mexican places in Idaho. We eat at their Idaho Falls location at least twice a week, and the food is perfect every time. Their chips and salsa are awesome, and they have a full bar to go along with all the great food. Their fried ice cream dessert is one of our all time favorites!! read more

Food was pretty good. Chips and salsa was good, the salsa has a little bit of a kick which I liked. Overall seemed clean and like they were taking good covid precautions.... all except our waitress who didn't wear her mask over her nose. Literally the entire time. Someone needs to ensure alll employees are wearing masks properly, especially with someone who has so much contact with customers. All other employees wore them properly the whole time. Thanks for calling and making sure people wear their masks correctly. Something so simple can save lives and help keep your business going. This is the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. Service was slow and terrible. Chips were chewy and stale and the food was weak. I ordered 3 $4 each tacos and they had zero meat..literally a teaspoon of meat all I could taste was shell. My daughter had a quesadilla and it has zero cheese. It was a $10 tortilla with a bit of chicken. Dont waste your money or time at this tourist trap. I would rather eat cheap hot dogs from a gas station. So much disappointment read more

The first time we had this in island park it really hit the spot and was so delicious. We've ordered take out a few times now and none seem to be as good as the first, but overall it's still quite delicious. The Chile verde burrito is a go to for us. We tried the burrito supreme but it wasn't as good. The rice and beans are really good. I don't love the salsa, but the chips are good! We have this chain restaurant where we live so we may have had higher expectations. We were greeted and seated right away. Chips salsa arrived quickly and our drink order taken. We ordered carne asada street tacos and a chicken burrito and a soda and iced tea. Drinks came. The iced tea wasn't really drinkable even after it was sweetened. It had a bad taste. It didn't taste brewed. I had to get a different drink. When the good came my husbands street tacos were great, but my burrito looked like it was pre- made. The tortilla was crispy on the edges and the chicken tasted like it had been reheated in a microwave. I had difficulty trying to eat it because the meat had a over cooked taste. Great service, one good meal, but burrito wasn't very good. I won't ever order it again after this experience. read more

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. The staff needs to take a class in culture sensitivity. They have obviously not been exposed to a diverse clientele. If you are not Caucasian, do not expect to be served. We waited for one hour and no one bothered to check on us or bring us our food. During this hour we observed others being served and attended to, even those who arrived after us. No utensils were even given to us when we were seated. When we asked about our food, they unapologetically stated our order was lost. We left the restaurant feeling very discriminated against. Very disappointing. So just giving a review to help those staying across from this location. Mixed reviews for two visits. First night we went and had burritos and carne asada. The burritos were good. the steak (very thin skirt) was good. The rice and beans were awful. I ended ordering a salad. But we left feeling we had an ok dinner. Next time we went it was so disappointing. We ordered fajitas and a quesadilla. The fajitas were uneatable. The steak was chewy and bland. There was a sauce over the fajitas vegetables and shrimp/steak (which prob was precooked and just heated) was not good. Just couldn't eat it. The shrimp were bland too. So disappointed. The rice tasted as if they make it early in day and just reheated it as they go. It was dry and flavorless. The fajitas were not sizzling as I am Used to and did not have the charred taste of being freshly cooked. The waiter that served us the second time wasn't very friendly and forgot our app. The waitress had the first time was lovely and prob why we went back. So what I will say. If you are hungry need to eat something and don't feel Like driving, you can Go here and just expect bland food. Stay away from fajitas and maybe ask if the food is being freshly made or re-heated. Or go for apps and drinks and enjoy the River. There are limited choices in the area but we found other places that were fabulous for the rest of our 9 day stay in that area. read more

Restaurant was not busy, we wanted a table on the outside patio section. Server said it would be a 2 minute wait so he could prepare a spot for us. A bunch of people came in and got seated because they wanted indoor which was understandable. After 20mins server came out and got a couple which came after us and gave them an outside patio table. We confronted the server about it and he said it was because we was a party of 3, my wife, son and myself. Shouldn't the server prepared our table before they sat down the couple that came after us? Extremely disappointed with our experience here. We were seated in a few minutes and the waitress took our drink order in a timely manner. Got our chips and salsa and finally got our drinks after a bit of a wait. Ordered an appetizer and told the waitress that after we ate it we would decide what we would have for our main course as I wasn't sure how hungry I was going to be. Finished the appetizer and finally had to flag down the waitress for our dinner order. Placed the order and also ordered another drink. Waited for at least 20 minutes for the drink as the bartender was waiting tables and when he finally made it, it just sat on the bar. Got our dinners and they were cold. Should have guessed it when the waiter gave me a plate in my bare hand in a Mexican restaurant that should have been screaming hot. Flagged down the waitress and told her they were cold and she took the plates back to the kitchen. When she came back to the table my husband asked how long it would be and confirmed they were making fresh plates. She said they were just heating them up. When we told here that was not acceptable (my dish had lettuce and sour cream on top) she ran to the kitchen. About 10 to 15 minutes later we got our plates. My order was wrong and they forgot some of the ingredients. At no time during the evening did the manager or any supervisor come and check on us. And we paid full price, no comps for the hassle. I understand being busy and the challenges with finding good staff but the lack of follow up was inexcusable. read more

We wanted to get away from all the busyness at West Yellowstone for an evening. We came here and sat outside along the river. The food was excellent and the service was great. Best steak and shrimp tacos I've had in a very long time. The prices are much cheaper then anything in West Yellowstone. My husband and I both had taco dinners with a generous amount of rice and beans and he had a tall beer. Less then $30. It's a deal!!! read more

Great food at reasonable prices with a nice river view near Yellowstone. Our family has now made it a habit to come here whenever we make it to Yellowstone. The staff is excellent (especially Freddy) and the food is fantastic and reasonably priced. They have specials every day, except Sunday and a full bar.
