The food is very good. The queso is excellent. It is definitely "Americanized" Mexican food. Not spicy. But still very good. It is a cute place right next to the river. We didn't sit outside, but there was a patio overlooking the River that looked lovely. The Service!! The service was the best I have ever seen. The place was packed but the wait staff was hustling! They were sprinting upstairs and never stopped moving. The food came out quick and hot. Our waitress Kourtney was the BEST!! She checked on us often and had an amazing demeanor. She answered all our dumb tourist questions about the area with a smile. read more

Cafe Sabor - Combo plate-1 chicken taco and 1 beef enchilada - Mexican Near Me - Island Park, Idaho

The food was horrible and dry and burnt . If I could do zero stars, I would. Very disappointing!

I ate at Cafe Sabor several times when they first opened in Island Park but eventually faded away because the crowds were soooo heavy during the summer but recently we gave it a 2nd chance after the summer crowds started to slow. This will be our favorite winter restaurants. The food is great, drinks are great & Bernabe & Nick are our favorite servers. read more

A lot of rework to building on outside. Dirt parking lot can be messy when wet. Very busy and good service. Prices are reasonable for the area. read more

Although the main restaurant is temporarily closed. The trailer was serving up some great food. We got the pork burrito and turns out it was on special. Two of us with 2 full meals, 2 drinks and chips and salsa for under $20. Unheard of in these parts. Definitely worth the full price. Thanks again. read more

I really wanted to like this spot because I have this restaurant close to where I live in Utah. The salsa is not great, my husband even said it tasted like ragu. We usually love their shrimp ceviche but you could tell it was pre-made because the two avocado slices came out dry and so were the chopped tomatoes. No idea when it was actually made. All of the food came out really fast so I'm not sure how fresh anything is.I had the red Sangria that was really good. My husband doesn't know much about Mexican food so we both got the tacos al carbon. He was very upset about having a soggy tortilla and having to use a fork. The meat was flavorful and tender however, the rice and beans lacked in seasoning. Don't think we'll come back to this restaurant again if we're in the area. read more

We arrived and were not greeted or seated took about 10 minutes, then 15minutes to be helped food was bland no flavor and not cooked all the way , plates were burning hot but food was lukewarm was honestly disappointed with the food and service read more

Absolutely horrible experience. We arrived in a group and expected slow service but this was ridiculous. After 10 minutes someone came by with chips and salsa, then another 10-15 minutes the waiter showed up asked for a round of waters. Another 10 minute wait and he shows up with 3 less than we requested. They dropped them off and rushed away before we were done passing them out. Nothing like snacking on chips for 20 ish minutes before you get a water. While waiting for the waiter had plenty of time to people watch. I watch the lady stand and wait for her credit card to be ran she stood there for a solid 15 minutes ( different waiter than ours). Her dinner companion had already left. I had a lot of time to watch people while waiting on the waiter to come by. Ordered the food showed up 35 minutes later, minus 2 entrée. Several minutes later was able to flag down a different waiter and ask for missing food. When they finally brought the two entrées they were cold (one was mine). Almost everyone said the food was bland mine included. My shrimp fajita burrito was 95% overcooked mushy rice, a small pinch of peppers on each end and 3 pieces of shrimp. During dinner he never came back around to ask if we needed water refills. After we finished waiter finally brought the bill after we flagged him down again. Waited 10 minutes to give him the credit card(he disappeared again). Had to go find the waiter and hand him the credit card and bill and stood next to him while he ran it. Needless to say I didn't add any gratuity than what they added for the group. He asked me how long I was going to be in town I told him four days and he said "I will see you tomorrow then" to which I just shook my head. One of the worst dining experiences ever. Pretty sure they stay busy because they are one of the only restaurants in the small town. We should've just went back to West Yellowstone and ate there. read more

The food is absolutely delicious! The restaurant is clean, and the views are amazing, right by the river! We were at an event in Island Park that hired Cafe Sabor for the catering service. We liked it so much that we made sure to have dinner there again before leaving town. Our server was not the best though, he made us feel betrayed or just stupid, pretty much ruined our night out. Niko was not transparent about what he was offering us, he suggested the $10 margarita instead of the $3 special they were having. After we ordered our appetizer, he just says: Chips and Salsa is coming, Queso e Guac?" So, we said, sure. These 2 items were $12 and $10!! When we ordered dinner, just 2 tacos each, he asked (not offered) which sides we wanted, we both opted for salad, another $6 each. My husband then asked for extra cilantro, another $2. We only found out about these "extras" after we received our bill. I was so angry, I decided to leave without saying anything. Ok, I get it, he's upselling, and we were wrong in assuming things, but come on, honesty?? I would have tipped him way more if he had just been nicer. Probably won't came back, at least at this location. read more

Super hopping busy place in Island Park! Great food, just crazy busy! The staff runs their butts off! You may wait a while to be seated, wait another while to be waited on, and another while for your food but considering your limited options to eat out in Island Park, we'd go again. read more

To be fair, I'm from Texas where the Tex-Mex cannot be beat! There were two of us and arrived on a Wednesday evening at 8 pm and still had an hour wait. We learned there are concerts on Wednesday's and avoid! Also, they seated a family of four that arrived a good 15 minutes after us about 10 minutes before seating us. And only after we questioned the hostess were we seated. I had cheese and beef enchiladas, beans and rice. I really liked the enchiladas-very cheesy! I wasn't a fan of the beans. The rice was just ok. My husband had a shrimp citrus salad that he said was wonderful. However, he ordered a beer and our server blamed the bartender being backed up but we were seated where we watched his beer sitting for over 5 minutes. I had to stop him twice from getting up to get it!She topped it off but it wasn't ice cold like it should have been. She brought it just before dinner was served. Would have gone great with the chips and salsa! I actually think they did their best under the circumstances of the concert crowd, but unfortunately did not earn 5 stars. read more

My wife and I stopped by this place after a day of sight seeing in the area. They have a lot of choices on the menu. So making a choice can take some time. We decided on an appetizer and a main dish. The plate of Nachoes was a meal in its self. Our main dishes were also of great proportion. They all had good flavor. So come hungry. If the weather is nice sit on the patio and watch the water activity. read more

This review goes out to the owners. You have a really nice place, great food and the employees are super friendly. However... You have organized chaos in the front of the house. Our waiter was great but he was playing hostess, bartender and everything else. I saw groups of folks one right after another including us just sit in the lobby with no one greeting them. You need a hostess of front of house manager to handle your guests and sit them. You also have waiters covering all over. They were struggling. The bussers also did well and with them the waiters were always having to apologize for little things. Now you food it was great. I have to say so great that It would be sad to see this place fail because of the disorganized front of the house. Foodies despite the front of house issues. The food was fabulous. I had the burrito supreme as well as my son. My wife has the fajita burrito and my daughter the fajitas. Not a complaint on food quality at all. It was fast hot and delicious. I hope that things will come together as well as the food. This will be a gem of a place for those heading here for vacation. read more

Cafe Sabor is an excellent restaurant in the West Yellowstone area. The food is fresh and flavorful, mas rico! I would say that for Mexican cuisine this is one of the best restaurants I have been to, the cocktails also are well made. Rito the manager is also the bartender and he made a coconut margarita which was the best tasting margarita I ever had! read more

WOW! I can't believe the food is this good out in the middle of nowhere, Idaho. I got the Pollo Durango and Coconut Soup and both were surprisingly sophisticated and totally savory. For me this is a step up from traditional Mexican fare anywhere you go. The flavors here stand up to, or even above, any of my favorite Mexican restaurants. What a find! Added bonuses: Friendly and efficient service. Everything was packed tight and right to go Included a complimentary bag of chips and salsa in a no-spill container. (I walked in and looked at a menu and decided to take it to go and enjoy by the beautiful river. This place is rad.) Excellent establishment, Cafe Sabor! read more

This is one of the best Mexican places in Idaho. We eat at their Idaho Falls location at least twice a week, and the food is perfect every time. Their chips and salsa are awesome, and they have a full bar to go along with all the great food. Their fried ice cream dessert is one of our all time favorites!! read more

Cafe Sabor - Full bar - Mexican Near Me - Island Park, Idaho

My friends and I are fairly sure that they have mixed up the salt and the sugar and not known. That's the only explanation for how terrible the food was. The enchiladas clearly were filled with A LOT of sugar, so much it was inedible. We ordered margaritas with Cointreau, Tequilla, and Lime juice, with a salt rim, just as presented on the menu, they were brought out a premixed marg with a sugar rim, sweet and sour, and no Cointreau. After much debate we sent it back for new ones at which time we were told that all the margs have sweet and sour, not what was represented in the menu, the second round was terrible as well. The pork tacos were sour, the beef and chicken was flavorless. Overall a terrible experience with horrid food, and to really drive it home when discussing our experience with locals, we were told "Oh Yea that place is terrible. read more

Nice little spot near the river on the way to the Yellowstone! We stopped to have a quick bite, but endup overeating since entire menu was really appealing :) We got Spinach dip, Mexican rolls, Coconut soup, Guac and chips, and a couple of salads and kids quesadilla - and this is for 3 adults and a kid! And we just took these salads to go since we were full from appetizers. Nice spot, nice patio with river view and great food. Thank you! read more

Great food, great service--but be warned, you can't make a reservation online! You have to call ahead!

Food was pretty good. Chips and salsa was good, the salsa has a little bit of a kick which I liked. Overall seemed clean and like they were taking good covid precautions.... all except our waitress who didn't wear her mask over her nose. Literally the entire time. Someone needs to ensure alll employees are wearing masks properly, especially with someone who has so much contact with customers. All other employees wore them properly the whole time. Thanks for calling and making sure people wear their masks correctly. Something so simple can save lives and help keep your business going. Updating my review since I respect the fact that your taking my complaint seriously!! I'm young and healthy, looking out for the at risk crowd since I'm a nurse. read more

This is the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. Service was slow and terrible. Chips were chewy and stale and the food was weak. I ordered 3 $4 each tacos and they had zero meat..literally a teaspoon of meat all I could taste was shell. My daughter had a quesadilla and it has zero cheese. It was a $10 tortilla with a bit of chicken. Dont waste your money or time at this tourist trap. I would rather eat cheap hot dogs from a gas station. So much disappointment read more

The first time we had this in island park it really hit the spot and was so delicious. We've ordered take out a few times now and none seem to be as good as the first, but overall it's still quite delicious. The Chile verde burrito is a go to for us. We tried the burrito supreme but it wasn't as good. The rice and beans are really good. I don't love the salsa, but the chips are good! They can get pretty busy, but we've just ordered take out a few times during COVID. read more

We have this chain restaurant where we live so we may have had higher expectations. We were greeted and seated right away. Chips salsa arrived quickly and our drink order taken. We ordered carne asada street tacos and a chicken burrito and a soda and iced tea. Drinks came. The iced tea wasn't really drinkable even after it was sweetened. It had a bad taste. It didn't taste brewed. I had to get a different drink. When the good came my husbands street tacos were great, but my burrito looked like it was pre- made. The tortilla was crispy on the edges and the chicken tasted like it had been reheated in a microwave. I had difficulty trying to eat it because the meat had a over cooked taste. Great service, one good meal, but burrito wasn't very good. I won't ever order it again after this experience. read more

Lovely lunch while on the sleds. Wonderfully helpful and attentive employees. Sending everyone I know there.

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. The staff needs to take a class in culture sensitivity. They have obviously not been exposed to a diverse clientele. If you are not Caucasian, do not expect to be served. We waited for one hour and no one bothered to check on us or bring us our food. During this hour we observed others being served and attended to, even those who arrived after us. No utensils were even given to us when we were seated. When we asked about our food, they unapologetically stated our order was lost. We left the restaurant feeling very discriminated against. Very disappointing. Ironically, this is a Mexican restaurant. read more

Extremely disappointed with our experience here. We were seated in a few minutes and the waitress took our drink order in a timely manner. Got our chips and salsa and finally got our drinks after a bit of a wait. Ordered an appetizer and told the waitress that after we ate it we would decide what we would have for our main course as I wasn't sure how hungry I was going to be. Finished the appetizer and finally had to flag down the waitress for our dinner order. Placed the order and also ordered another drink. Waited for at least 20 minutes for the drink as the bartender was waiting tables and when he finally made it, it just sat on the bar. Got our dinners and they were cold. Should have guessed it when the waiter gave me a plate in my bare hand in a Mexican restaurant that should have been screaming hot. Flagged down the waitress and told her they were cold and she took the plates back to the kitchen. When she came back to the table my husband asked how long it would be and confirmed they were making fresh plates. She said they were just heating them up. When we told here that was not acceptable (my dish had lettuce and sour cream on top) she ran to the kitchen. About 10 to 15 minutes later we got our plates. My order was wrong and they forgot some of the ingredients. At no time during the evening did the manager or any supervisor come and check on us. And we paid full price, no comps for the hassle. I understand being busy and the challenges with finding good staff but the lack of follow up was inexcusable. read more
