Cafe Sabor is my favorite Mexican restaurant in St George. The wait time is usually pretty quick unless there is a big event in town, but then all the other restaurants are in the same boat when that happens. The chips and salsa are definitely the best in town. I personally like the spicy salsa more, but the mild salsa is ok, too. The Cali chimichanga ingredients sound a little unorthodox, but it is amazing and their chile verde is sooooo good! When it came out it was Luke warm & by then I ate it even though it wasn't hot. The soup flavor was good with a spicy kick. Did a curbside pickup order 40 minutes before pickup. Called the pickup number when we arrived. Went to voicemail twice. Went inside to pickup. Host was super rude. Told him I couldn't get through on the pickup line. Told me there were only two people working that line as if I should know better. He then told me it would be another 30-45 minutes to get food. Explained I called 40 minutes earlier. Said maybe it was ready and he'd have someone else check. Finally got my food but they didn't include the drink that was supposed to come with the special. Wasn't worth dealing with the jerk at the front to get it. Two stars because the food is good, but soooo not worth the price and arrogance. I was so looking forward to dining here, had heard a lot of positive things. Unfortunately my first time was less than mediocre. After waiting for forty minutes, we were sat down downstairs. Which we were not impressed at all. It seemed awkward and just not what we would have expected. They had foldable plastic tables and the carpet seem to need some cleaning. Now to my food, I ordered Tacos al Carbon, I feel I must have had high expectations, because I've had a few amazing authentic tacos in my life. But my first attempt to pick up my taco, it fell apart. A single tortilla that's dipped in salsa is usually not a good combination. The tortilla was dry and I ended up eating my tacos with a fork. My dish felt like it was rushed and just thrown on the plate with a hurry. I'm not sure if I will ever return to this place, I see the vision but more attention to detail is needed overall. read more

The food is excellent, the service is excellent, the noise is terrible! The sound absorption in the walls is basically nonexistent and it echoes and amplifies every sound. The music is annoying -more suitable for dancing than listening - and everyone talks loud to get over it and that makes other people talk louder to get over them! Ironically, Mexican food in St.G is lackin'. Considerin' our location and the number of local amigos, the options here are poor! And trust me we've tried most of 'em. CS was a pleasant change and we'll make return visits, I'm sure. 1) The furnishings were stylish and up-to-date. Nothin' worse, imo, than garish-colored walls festooned with sombreros and left-over fiesta souvenirs. + 2) It was clean and quiet. Tables and chairs were organized, tidy, in place, and floors swept. Background music was barely discernible and conversation was easy. + 3) Our hostess sat us by the kitchen doors but had no problem when we asked to sit elsewhere. "A booth would be nice" and she accommodated us. Nothin' worse than bein' continually buffeted by staff and kitchen noise. Eventually someone has to sit there, but I'm thankful it wasn't us. Come early! + 4) They serve GURs: grownup refreshments. If I'm goin' out to sit down, I want 'em. Negra Modelo, my favorite AMB (adult malted beverage), was available in bottles (save the glass) and was less-expensive than tap. ++ 5) The two staff members who covered our table, Kordy (sp) and Cicely (sp, again), were both friendly, knowledgeable and attentive without hoverin'. We're adults and don't need our water filled after every sip. + 6) The chips and salsa were fresh, tasty and plentiful. I like the idea of extra salsa to pour on whatever I order as my Main. I asked for some extra hot sauce and Cicely brought me a small dish of their habanero sauce. It came mixed with a little crema or sour cream (?) and was the perfect accompaniment. + 7) My wife ordered the Chili Verde Burrito and said it was very good. I had the BIG Burrito with ground beef and it, too, was good. I like dippin' chips in the guacamole on top and it was perfect for my taste. Also, neither my wife nor I like what is labeled Tex-Mex (drownin' in queso?). We found both our choices fresh, thoughtfully and tastefully prepared. + On the down-side: 1) I felt my burrito had way too much rice inside. Over-stuffed and with little taste. Haven't been here in a while. After we had waited for about 20 mins. we realized it was marathon weekend. We should have left and gone home. They sat my party of 4 in a booth that was missing at least 6" of cushion. My husband and I snuggled which made for elbows in each other's way. The menus are read on your phone now. This really threw me and felt more like a street vendor instead of a nice sit down restaurant. There is a social element holding a menu and pointing and sharing with others in the group that I appreciate. I couldn't find my favorite on the menu and stopped looking and settled. My rice was undercooked, the guacamole avocados were under ripe and there were flies everywher. I know the door got opened a lot due to crowds but unddrstanding the reason didn't help make the experience nice. Midway through the meal they turned on music that was so loud, we had to shout at one another. Overall, felt like a taco truck at the county fair, not a nice restaurant. We had the Carne Asada it was good that night but not great the next time I went, mostly because I got it to go and they didn't get the temperature right which was kind of a bummer- which sucked because I was craving it. They don't mix good drinks in fact they were awful and we were in a group of thirty or so people so we all tried each other's drinks. The staff was slow but enjoyable to interact with. We are so glad to find this new gem in town. It's been open for two months but we just found out about it today. The parking lot was full when we came on a Wednesday night at 6:30 which is a good sign. From the time in the door to the end of our meal the service was good. We were seated upstairs where there is a full bar and a TV with a basketball game on. I had a coconut margarita and my husband a Captain Morgan/Diet Coke. Chips and salsa greeted us right away. Not great overall. They were a bit busy so asked if we could sit upstairs they just told us to go up. We went upstairs and found a table. No one acknowledged us which was frustrating after noticing the employees sitting at the end of the bar chatting and eating. It took over 10 min to even have someone greet us. When she did it took another 10 to get water and chips. Our friends ordered a beer and margarita, when the margarita came out it looked and tasted like a limeade. No salt on the rim, old limes and overall poor execution on such a simple cocktail. When the food arrived it was cold and unappetizing. My chicken in the chicken fajitas felt and tasted like they precooked it and threw it in the microwave. When my plate came out with the cheese and such, the cheese was melted to the plate and the rice was cold. Probably sitting in the window to long. The food is very good. We have had the fajitas and the Pollo Durango. The tortillas that come with it are so delicious. The kids meals are a good size and we chose to pay more for the smoothies. The kids loved that treat! The staff is kind and quick! Eating with a baby in tow can be tricky so I appreciate their promptness! The restaurant is very clean and I like the decor! Simple and modern. I just want to shoutout a couple of the workers here. Logan was awesome & looked like he was working really hard. Good to see that these days! Very friendly guy! It's nice to see this building revamped. The chips and salsa were really great, and the veg burrito was good, but the sauce on top was thin and left something to be desired. Not your typical enchilada sauce. The atmosphere was great, wait staff were obviously learning but kind and attentive. We used to love coming here but the last two times we had terrible experiences; coincidently it was the same server both times. The first bad experience (a couple weeks ago) the food took a very long time, when it was brought out I informed the server that my daughters side was incorrect. He just starred at me then said "son of a b*tch, I don't know how to fix that. Hold on, I'll be back" I was shocked. He did fix the mistake, food was okay, we paid and left. The most recent time with the same server my husband, daughter and I came in for dessert. We were sat and after the dessert arrived the server said "you're gonna have to pay for that." Like Uhh yeah, we know? Overall the last two visits definitely left a bad taste and I'm not sure if we would return. Not Mexican and far from Latin American, I am not offended by the service, the atmosphere or the drinks, I am just puzzled by their label, if you call yourself a Mexican and Latin America style cuisine, then at least come close to achieving such, "Arroz con Pollo", is not just rice, some chicken and tomato sauce, I have never seen such, ever! The "pollo a la Diabla" is advertised with, garlic Mojo beans and rice, I was served, Mexican rice, refried beans and a lots of sauce with cut up chicken, what? All Restaurants, hear me out!!! Sauces complement not overpower, the sauce should not ever be more than then protein, for that happens to be a soup, if I wanted nacho cheese sauce I would have gone to "Nacho daddy" I am so disappointed, the only good thing was the Pacifico beer. Please "Cafe Sabor" get some advice at the kitchen and do some taste test with Latin American and Mexican people, other wise please just call yourself Something else that does not have the word "Sabor" in the title. read more

Outstanding salsa! Loved all the fresh flavors and made in house, not in a jar. Authentic Mexican veggie burrito was spot on and the pasta was surely a hit! Bartender was all over taking care of absolutely everything, waitress was learning the ropes but was still on top of it. Went on a Friday night with our family of 5 at about 9pm and were able to get seated within 5 min. The staff was friendly and helpful, and our waitress did a great job of keeping our drinks filled and making sure we had everything we needed. We tried the Monterey Chicken, Arroz con Pollo, Toquilla Lime pasta, and our two youngest got the nacho and bean burrito kids meals. Everything was delicious. The only thing we weren't happy with was my youngest didn't want to touch his bean burrito because it was covered in salsa, like they had brushed the tortilla with salsa, and we thought it weird they would put salsa on the outside of a kids bean burrito. I also didn't like that my Arroz con Pollo was more saucy than normal and there didn't seem to be as much rice as there should've been. read more

They have great daily deals. I love Taco Tuesday and their chips and salsa. They can be inconsistent with their portion sizes and their spice level. Some days we've gotten tons of beans and rice and other times hardly anything. Sometimes the spicy shrimp taco is very spicy and other times not. I started ordering medium so I don't get one so spicy I can't eat it. But the service is great, the deals are good and the food is delicious. read more

Been to Cafe Sabor 3 times now, and each one I have really liked it a lot! Great spot and I love their chips and salsa (kind of a big deal to me - I hate it when Mexican restaurants don't bring out chips and salsa to eat as you order). So far my favorite menu item was the Camarones A La Diabla (I liked them better than the Camarones Mexicanos). The waiter asked if I was OK with them being spicy, but even though I had them made hot they really weren't that spicy. Maybe too spicy for a little kid, but anyone who can handle any kind of heat would be fine, and the flavor was awesome. I also have tried their carne asada, which I got as take-out, and while it was good I would have to try it in the restaurant before recommending that dish (i.e. don't get it take-out, as the steak gets cold). read more

The reason for my review is because of the fish taco I ordered. At $5.00 each I would love to have been able to identify fish in the taco.
