We hired Cafe Soleil to cater our wedding, and I cannot say enough good things about our experience. From the very beginning, Cecy (event manager) and Jennifer (owner) were incredibly patient, responsive, detail-oriented, and helpful. Our wedding planning process was drawn out due to COVID, and over the course of it we exchanged what felt like hundreds of emails with endless questions from me. I had a vision and a few particular requests and they did the perfect job of accommodating but also providing thoughtful feedback when a particular request might lead to a poor guest experience. On the day of and after, I got so many compliments on the food. Guests were amazed with how everything (especially the tri tip) was so warm, juicy, and tender. It was absolutely delicious and my only regret as a bride is not eating more while I had the chance. I could not recommend Cade Soleil more for your wedding or event! read more

So don't let appearances fool you. You walk in and it's a whole different world. Portions are large - so come hungry. Initially I was disappointed not to find Eggs Benedict on the menu. So ordered Two Eggs and Toast (replaced with biscuit) and added ham. This allowed me to build my breakfast - and it was better than expected! If your favorite meal of the day is breakfast this is the place to go! The ambiance is laid back and welcoming. The staff are all very friendly, customer service is great. They give out HUGE portions and it's all so delicious. My favorite are their omelets with house fries (country potatoes). They also have yummy ribeye steak with eggs. If your in a hurry and can't sit in you are able to take out. They still give you a large portion (which I love Because I feel like some other places jip you). I love this place. The breakfast is solidly good. Omelettes on point, waitstaff super attentive and thorough. Kids breakfast is a lot of food for the price. You can tell that there are a lot of regulars here. I think the only thing that keeps me from the fifth star is that the space is large, which is great, as I have never waited more than a few minutes for a table, even when they're full. But there isn't a lot of natural light and it seems chilly in there. Other than that, this is our go to breakfast spot in the area. read more

Yooo!!! This place is a hidden gem! I never go to El Sobrante but I had to check it out when I was passing by and saw a line. To my surprise it's actually really good! I went for brunch about a week ago and the wait wasn't too bad despite about 10 parties being ahead of me. Anyways let's get to the food. So they have your standard breakfast menu but what I loved about it was how you can customize your hash-brown or potatoes by getting the works added to them. The works are add-ons such as sour cream, salsa, cheese, onions or etc. I'm a hash brown fan so this was perfect for me. If you're into home fries you can customize that too. I also went with the sausage patties, eggs over medium and their homemade biscuit. I wasn't a huge fan of the biscuit but it was decent. The sausage, hash-brown and eggs were perfect. The young lady who took my order was very friendly and I was told that my order would be ready in 10min. The worst experience I have ever had ! I am a returning customer , i went with my friend for breakfast with my service dog , he was in his stroller secured . The minute we walked in I was harassed by a waitress that wasn't even my server. I had ordered my food & the entire time I was there I kept getting dirty looks from her , made me extremely uncomfortable. Then walked over before we even got out food and harassed me about my SERVICE dog once again raised her voice at me in front of everyone made a scene . It was the perfect spot for breakfast. The staff is friendly, especially Misty (attentive, engaging, and patient) the atmosphere is lax and the the food selection is plentiful. I ordered the scrambled eggs with linguisa, extra eggs and no potatoes. Basic. I know. But it was yummy. The steak, chicken fried steak, the omelettes, and burgers looked amazing. Have you ever had a moment when you look at your plate of food and felt as if, at that instant, you've been transformed into someone else? I have. Last week, I ordered the chili-cheese burger at Jennifer and Todd's and I could've sworn that by the time I was done with my meal, I legit became a 600 lbs burly lumberjack man. This is probably the best way that I can describe my experience with the amazing yet insanely huge portion of the open-faced 1/2 lbs burger that is covered in mouthwatering good chili-cheese topping. And to think that their "side" salad is the size of what other restaurants would serve as their normal portion. I was a fool to think that I could down my plants and yet have enough room in my stomach for the burger. By the time I was done with half of the humongous plate, I wiped my newfound mustache, packed the rest of my food home, and high-fived a bear before karate chopping down a tree. That burger definitely was a hefty business to be dealt with in more than one sitting. I totally am stoked to have found my new favorite dish and will definitely be back to man me up again very soon. read more

The food is good and the service is good. My husband likes that they have chicken apple sausage. My daughter loves their bacon. The portions come out bigger than what the menu says. I like that the noise level was decent when we went. My toddler likes to make a lot of noise and I didn't feel like she was bothering anyone. Jennifer and her team catered our wedding celebration in August, and it was absolutely wonderful. We were pressed on time and had a few last minute changes needed, but they accommodated us with patience and produced a magical event. We visited the El Sobrante location first to taste test and discuss our vision. The food was perfect and working with Jennifer was amazing. We were a little here and there with our initial ideas, but she managed to pinpoint our vision and we came up with a wonderful menu. Most of the logistics and financial discussion was through her catering partner Cecy, who also helped us through finding our gorgeous wooden vineyard tables and my napkin color choice. The day of the event my husband and I were all lover the place, but Jennifer and her team came in early and swiftly began setting up. Jennifer was a calm and reassuring presence throughout the whole event. Our guests all loved the food--even reminding us about it after the wedding! I admit I didn't get to eat much during the event, but Jennifer was so sweet and let us take the additional dessert and cheese plates with us. Jen and her team are the absolute best! Cafe Soleil recently catered our wedding at the Brazilian Room last week and I cannot recommend them enough. We originally had our tasting in 2019 planning on a 2020 date, and we were sold immediately. Jen put together a huge array of food for the tasting since I had ZERO idea where to start, and if my indecisiveness bothered her, it never once showed. She was so kind and accommodating, and the food was AMAZING. On top of that, they included so many things in their pricing that other caterers charged extra for (no charge for the tasting, their plated pricing is the same as buffet, they include chargers for the table settings, their menu is super customizable, they do it all! Bonus: they even let us borrow lawn games for our outdoor reception at no extra charge!). We booked them asap! Then of course, we needed to postpone due to COVID. Jen and Cecy, their event coordinator, were so patient and collected throughout the whole postponing process and answered every question I shot their way up to our 2021 date. (And I had A LOT of questions!) Cecy is super on top of sending gentle reminders for important due dates leading up to the big day, and especially if you're having your event at the Brazilian Room where there is no venue staff, this was so important to feel like you had a guide. Finally, on the actual day, the food and set up was fantastic! Jen's team had a plate of snacks and champagne brought to myself and the groom after the ceremony so that we could sneak a few bites in private before joining the reception. They also served us huge plates of the main courses before serving our guests. I've heard from so many other weddings that the couple doesn't get to eat much, but definitely not the case here! Our guests loved the food as well, and the servers were attentive, sweet, and quick. And the lawn games were a huge hit! Absolutely loved working with Cafe Soleil and will definitely want to stop by the restaurant to have more of their excellent food! Definitely hire them for your special event! read more

This review is for Cafe Soleil's catering business. Jennifer catered my wedding at the Brazilian room this past weekend, and she and her staff were a joy to work with. When we were still deciding on catering they had us come in for a free tasting and let us taste four different main dishes with sides, along with wine which was super fun, and delicious. Day of, the food was very tasty and we got a lot of compliments on all of it. We were amazed that they allowed us to offer a plated meal with many selections-- we let guests choose between beef, chicken, fish, vegetarian AND vegan, and all 5 of these meals were served at our wedding. Side note- the marsala wine cream sauce is TO DIE FOR. I would drink it. Aside from the quality of the food, the service was excellent. I want to give special acknowledgment to Cecy, who handled all the communication and planning with us. She was communicative, easy to reach, answered all questions promptly, and was very flexible when we had last minute guest changes. Thanks Cecy! Day of, Cafe Soleil took care of all the set-up and clean up. Note-- we did venue buy out at the Brazilian Room so had the venue from 12 PM-12 AM, but catering has the keys to the building and comes specifically 2 hours before the event-- so you may not have access to the building for the whole 12 hours. This is TOTALLY fine as you do not need the full time to set up (they are very efficient), but just something I totally missed initially in the contract with the Brazilian Room. Cecy explained it all to us and made sure everybody got in with enough time to set up. Our event ran super smoothly, with great food and service! I am updating to two stars. I was in for a breakfast on Friday, 28 June, to start the day off with something to eat before a long road trip with a friend and colleague. I decided to come back for two reasons. It was on the way where we were going and I promised to come back and give it another try despite avoiding the place for some many months. The service was much faster and attentive but the plate I ordered was not what I expected. I ordered the Country Special as it seemed pretty good from the description on the menu. I totally wanted to be surprised and have a great experience here, so I was hoping for the best or at least a lot better than when I first made a one start review. The gravy was flavorless and, truthfully, I was a bit turned off by the entire plate. I was pretty hungry when I started but ended up not able to really finish the entire dish as I was rather disappointed in the end. I do not consider myself a foodie but I do like good foods. My mom worked for Narsai David many years ago in Kensington and my father was an excellent cook for the family. And I have also had many friends in many walks of life who have cooked food for me from the very poverty stricken to the upper class high society. There were those who went to great lengths to prepare a delicious meal with what they had and those who could really cook very well. So, at least I consider myself experienced. Food and service you'd be satisfied. Food is good, not great, just some good home cookin type of vibes. Chill atmosphere, can get busy on weekends especially Sundays. I always go with the country fried steak, hash brown and a side of fruit or the 2 egg omelette with hash brown and chicken apple sausage, wheat toast. Jennifer catered my wedding on 3/9/19 and made all of my dreams come true. From the planning (14 months out) to all of the small details in-between, she and her team were wonderful. We made some last-minute changes and they were so accommodating. Here we are a month later and people are still raving about the food and service. I highly recommend adding the porcini mushrooms and Thai chicken skewers to your menu ;). We looked at several other catering options for the Brazilian Room from the required caterers list, and none even came close by way of service offerings, flexibility, price, quality, taste and heart.
