What a fun festive restaurant! It is Halloween inspired so make sure you make a reservation during the holiday season! This place was packed with people and fun. The decor was amazing both outside and in. I was mesmerized with all the cool stuff they had while we waited for our table. This Romania restaurant also has such a unique menu but still served favorites such as chicken wings and a fried mozzarella which we ordered for appetizers. I also tried the Dracula drink that was aesthetically pleasing and even had Dracula's teeth in the glass. My favorite part was dessert. We tried the Vlad the Impaler which was 2 donuts shaped as people on sticks with a strawberry jam sauce that was on fire and it was to die for! This place was such a blast.

We went here yesterday it was fabulous. I had vampires blood martini , black cherry margarita, cheese app, mushroom soup and meatballs all very good but the real treat was the staff Kristen, Luca, and Hermes they were such a treat they worked so well together never stressed and so accommodating. I will go back definitely and soon. There's an awesome gift shop as well!! This is a must .

Cafe Transilvania is fun, affordable, and offers something for everyone. We came eager to try the Romanian food and wine and really enjoyed the stuffed cabbage (me) and Hungarian Paprikash (my husband). Both were outstanding! We also loved the flaming donut dessert that our server recommended. It also has a lively bar scene with many people watching college football and lots of people enjoying the kitschy and fun Halloween decor, some of which I'm guessing can be enjoyed year-round. What a fun, unusual spot!

Transilvania Restaurant Bar, formerly known as Cafe Transilvania of Fairfield, has finally re-opened their doors in their new & larger location on the Branford/East Haven border and I couldn't be more thrilled! Their menu boasts fresh housemade Romanian eats prepared daily that also features dishes/small bites of Hungarian, Ukranian and Caribbean dishes. They've fused the foods of their culture and that of the cultures that have inspired them expertly with dishes that are memorable, delicious, flavorful and of high quality. I love a spot where you can enjoy traditional authentic dishes while also being able to sample foods of the Chefs personal creativity, and you get all of that here. They also have an extensive drink menu which includes everything from mocktails to flavored hard seltzers and a big screen TV over the bar so you can enjoy whatever sport thing is going on! The venue has a fun and historic vibe, featuring Dracula photos and tid bits of his history throughout the restaurant. Have an instagrammable moment on Draculas throne beneath the red drapes or on their outdoor patios or lot with the gorgeous creek and stone Bridge behind you. Chris and Alina also happen to be the most hospitable people you'll meet and are incredibly good human beings. They enjoy so much meeting new people and sharing their culture and food with them! Transilvania Restaurant is a one of a kind restaurant in the Connecticut food scene and a must stop for any foodie or person who enjoys great food!

Yes, I am actually 3/4 Transylvanian.

This is a very nice historical type restaurant, with good food, a very fun and distinctive historical building that itself is worth visiting, nice people, and overall very fun and pleasant. The mushroom soup is excellent, the cole slaw is excellent, the "signature" Romanian sausages - also excellent. Very nice place !

A fun experience !! Food & ambiance are so unique. What a great local gem. Great service and the owners are just so sweet.

Had the most wonderful experience here last night. The decor was fun and different than what we've become accustomed to from area restaurants. I had the three cheese risotto balls as and appetizer and they were perfect. Crispy exterior with a nice creamy risotto center. What really set the restaurant apart was that for my entree I ordered the Melanzanna sandwich but after taking our order, our server found that they were out of it, which wouldn't have been a big deal since there were a number of vegetarian options available. However, rather than just simply coming back out to tell me this, the owner came to our table, apologized and said she would have the chef make me a vegetarian dish that she enjoys. That extra level of service impressed me as much as the food did and I can't wait to go back.

I love the view of the river, while dining. However I love the food even more. This amazing restaurant with Romanian specific cuisine is the place where you can taste the real flavors of Romanian foods ,

I've been here twice now, and I'll definitely be back. The food is homemade and delicious, and the owners offer real kindness and hospitality. On my first visit, a group of travellers was there eating lunch, and the tiny place was packed. This made me think the food must be authentic, and I settled in to eat outside. I ordered the rustic mushrooms appetizer and the Hungarian paprikash. Both were very good, but a little under-salted. Still, everything was fresh, and somehow the food got out to me quickly despite the huge crowd. I especially enjoyed the seasoned fried mushrooms. I ordered the papanasi with a cappuccino for desert -- both were great. On the second visit, I got the stuffed cabbage. This was delicious, just very well-seasoned and flavorful. The owner remembered me and was very kind. It's a small, comfortable place with simple, well-made food.

This burger was out of control. My boy said the burger was awesome.

Food was good. The kids really enjoyed it. And service was very pleasant. The ambience was definitely something to take in. But surprisingly attractive. Will I go again yes. Really interested in the other dishes that are offered.

A plate with a little bit of everything today.

We shared a special of the night ( goat cheese, beets, peaches and hot honey) and the salad that is set to be a new menu item. Everything was locally sourced and these dishes were a 10/10! It was hard to choose and entree so Emily C and I split the cod and the steak sirloin. The cod was to die for. The best I've ever had. The sirloin was chefs kiss and the sauce and asparagus it paired with (and potatoes too) were all out of this world! While i was already full, the dessert menu is a must. Belvedere was the best reviewed but we found the total experience disappointing despite some bright spots. First off, Little Poland has a reputation for food not warm, chatty service. Even with a reservation, the Belvedere staff seemed unprepared and almost disappointed we showed for our late reservation. We waited an inordinate amount of time for a larger table to fit us was cleared, without anyone taking a drink order or doing much of anything. Drinks were small and watery. Things perked up with the best borscht we've tasted, although it's served warm not the traditional cold. The Caesar salad was huge and tasty but not sure why it's on a polish menu. The pierogis were just ordinary; light on filings and served with absolutely nothing else; they were also lukewarm. The Galumpki was more generous and tasty but the potato pancake with goulash was a complete miss. The pancake while large was over fried and acrid at the edges and you were hard pressed to find a decent chunk of beef or piece of carrot in the meager drizzle of goulash on top. $26.95 for this? The atmosphere was a bit sterile and didn't have that old world feel we were looking for; Miami vice and 80's music videos on the bar TV didn't help. We can't really recommend this spot to others.

Cheerfully greeted by a nice person who was thrilled someone was trying her restaurant for the first time. Seemed it would be a pleasure! Banter! Joy! The location is adorable - an historic inn with lovely interior stone walls a nice bar, a dining room hung with farm implements and your usual skinny staircase and sunny porch. Absolutely thrilled by the continental and sometimes quirky selections (sweet and sour schnitzel? Why not!) Ordered quickly, letting the waitress know of time constraints. Half an hour later she brought the salad course. An hour after that, the manager or maître d' -- she never said but she did clearly have some authority and was the boss of the waitress--stopped by to inform the table that the delay was potato pancakes. The chef had apparently felt compelled to make a whole new batch of potato pancakes from scratch. And therefore it was our fault the food was taking so long. This would make sense if the table next to us wasn't also waiting twenty minutes for buffalo wings. And if our waters had been refilled. And if there were apologies rather than resigned excuses. The explanation landed like a desperate attempt at humor as the Titanic made a turn directly for the iceberg. No offer of even a comped cup of coffee, not a glass of wine, or even a sincere wish that things would go faster. We could do nothing but feel sorry for her and her staff in this wonderful little local inn and wonder who the monster was who is running the kitchen -- my beef stroganoff was terrific but the plate that made us late held a couple of small sausages, a large scoop of red cabbage and three jam-lid sized mashed potato fritters which could just as easily have been replaced by literally any starch... it was ninety minutes start to finish in this bizarre mystery of a restaurant. Was the chef on strike? Having a bad day? His front of house worked so very hard to cover for him. I have only sadness for this glorious little place - my favorite kind, locally owned, delicious dishes, deep pours. But I will only go back when I don't have a long drive ahead of me -- or perhaps for a laugh with people from the City who don't know how to slow down.

We arrived at 1:45 and walked into disarray. No one to great us, no host or hostess, just a lot of confusion. There was no record of my friend's reservation. We heard them discussing table seating for different parties, but when I asked, my friend's name was still not added to a seating list. It seemed there was no one in charge. As 230 approached, we were told we can follow them into the seating area and while other tables had the parties names on small placards, still there was nothing on the two open two-seaters tables. We sat, and waited. On a positive note, we were the first table to be told the food was ready and we could go into buffet. No complaints about the food, it was pretty good. The final irritation was when our bill came, and I handed my credit card to the server. She seemed to be taking a long time to return with my card so I got up and went looking for her.
