This is my 4th visit here. They have fabulous customer service! The employees in front will and do answer any and all questions you might have. I'm fairly new to this establishment they take the time to explain the menu items to me. All my visits have been during my lunch time from work. So this time is very limited. They get their customers in and out with great food! Overall the food is pretty good, and the customer service is awesome, from the time you walk in the time you walk it out. If it was just based on customer service I would have given it 5 stars. I gave it 4 because the food is good but not great. I will be back! read more

I'm not a vegan but had a decent meal here. Had a North African soup and a side salad and it was good. Pretty clean and the service was OK. I probably won't be back because it isn't my style of food. Just a little too healthy and not a fan of chain restaurants in general. LOL read more

My colleagues and I were on the prowl for something filling yet relatively healthy. One of them recommended we try "cafe yumm!" And I must say it was a nice healthy alternative. Now, it is not a cheap lunch. I would say on par with Freshii which isn't far from this places location. I ordered their jazzy yum wrap. I was impressed with how full they make the the wrap. On the downside however, the fullness of the wrap also makes it almost impossible to eat without a fork. They don't actually "wrap" the wrap... Rather turn it into a cone that holds all the goodies. I was happy with the chicken and the beans and jasmine rice. The one thing I was a little disappointed with was the amount of sauce they dump into these bowls. I actually would expect the opposite given what they are typically known for. It turns what could be a relatively light lunch into something a bit too heavy. None the less, lesson learned. Cafe Yuck!!!! I can't comprehend that a restaurant like this is surviving and branching out, especially in foodie nation NW!!!! The yumm sauce is this tangy strange sauce that has vomitous flavor notes. The chicken has the texture of chicken that is processed and formed into a piece of chicken, so strange. The meat has grill marks that are (GASP) brown food dye? Not even actual real grill marks people! As I was waiting for my order to be corrected, I looked through the pass through to see the 2 "cooks" taking turns at the microwave "cooking" and preparing the food, actually standing in line behind each other waiting patiently to use the microwave. Okay, so backstory: I used to be OBSESSED with Whole Bowl, a restaurant in SE Portland. But once I moved out of SE, it just got harder and harder to make it over there. I searched and searched for something to replace the Whole Bowl, but I just couldn't find it. I eventually gave up and went through the grieving process. FAST FORWARD TO NOW--Cafe Yumm! is the beautiful and synchronized counterpart to Whole Bowl. Their food is good quality, organic, and you can easily pronounce every single ingredient in all of the dishes. I got the Original, which--wait for it--TASTES LIKE WHOLE BOWL. The unique sauce, the sprinkle of cilantro, the perfectly cooked beans--it all brought me back to living back in SE. Here's the thing: Portland is getting more and more expensive to live in, and people like me are having a harder and harder time having access to the foods we love. But Cafe Yumm! has taught me a valuable lesson--good quality, organic food is not exclusive to Portland! We just gotta find it, y'all! I'm giving this location a 1 not because of the food! The food is great...when its open. I don't know why but this specific location always seems to be closed for some new problem! It's so frustrating. The next closest location from my house is 45min away. I eat at cafe yumm 2-3 days a week but rarely get to eat at this one because it's closed so frequently. I'm not sure if same people own both millplain stores if not you should get in touch with the other. They may be able to offer some advice. read more

Only this place on 192nd I recommend not to go there. Because I always ordered original bowl. But this place I feel disappointed because I'm being charged $14 for medium bowl with chicken and small rootbeer. The bowl was like 3/4 brown rice, few chicken, 2 small slices of avocado, little black olives and lots of chopped tomatoes with 1/4 of watery flavor and maybe a pinch of yumm sauce! WTH! This restaurant is such a good choice for a healthy delicious meal. The workers were so sweet and friendly as well. I got the turkey reuban, which was full of good incrediants, and smothered in special Yumm sauce. The fresh tortilla chips on the side were tasty and the pickle slice complimented my sandwich perfectly. Will define try try a Yumm bowl next time, they looked so good. read more

We had a very bad experience. Ordered 2 Southwest Chicken Wraps in a flour wrap. Got a Tofu whole wheat wrap that was dried out. It was inedible. I would have taken it back but we took it to go and had a tired baby with us. We will never go back! read more

Totally bummed! I came here for the first time ever a couple of months ago. It was great! I got the spicy jazzy bowl with tofu, no s/c. I came again a couple of weeks ago and ordered the same thing. I got it to go because I had to get back to work. A guy ran my bowl out, and off I went. Got to work - totally the wrong order. I'm sure someone got mine, and I got theirs. So I called the restaurant, and the person I spoke with, apologized, and assured that next time I come in, I'd get a bowl at no charge. She took down my name and number. This Saturday, I went right at 11am, to finally get my Cafe Yumm fix. The gal as the register was really nice, when I explained, and she went to grab the manager. The manager gave me a hard time about it, and seemed inconvenienced that he had to "look for my name" in some binder. He asked what bowl I wanted, and then said, "Well, we'll just charge you for a small bowl and give you a large bowl" This was annoying as he just took off to the kitchen to make it, without having asked any of the questions (I wanted tofu, no s/c). $8 bucks later.... He ran my bowl out in less than a couple of minutes, and I heard him bragging to this staff about how fast he was. By the way, I was literally the only customer there. Cafe MEH! I was excited to try this place out so I finally had time off and took the plunge. Right when I walked in I was hit by an odd smell, it was strangely reminiscent of a shoe store. Anyway, I thought it might have something to do with that new business smell. I don't know. I ordered the salmon burger. It was about $8 so I was expecting something bad ass. What I got though was a major disappointment. The burger was so thin, I mean this is something I could throw together at home at the end of the month. The cashier was new so I expected him to mess up on some of the stuff like courtesy. I went back and asked him if I could have some mustard and he went back to ask his manager what he should do. No big deal, maybe there's some kind of company policy that restricts the condiments to only Tapatío and ketchup. I asked if I could just have a larger container than the one that came with the burger or if not then could he just squirt some on my plate. He looked at me queerly and then the manager leaned over from the kitchen partition and gave me a "WTF?" look as well. The only thing I could think of doing was smile. The cashier brought me over another little container just like the one I was already not satisfied with. I thought, "OK. Maybe this will do, I guess". I'm not a vegetarian but when I come here I choose those options. I also always add yum sauce to my order or ask for a bit extra if it already comes on it. The food is great no matter what you order. My husband loves the bowls and all of the different options you can choose with them. My favorite so far is the Nori Wrap I think its called. Jasmine rice and edamame goes great with the nori although it is a bit messy to eat. I think maybe if they added the nori in strips or put the wrap together before it was brought it out would make eating it a bit easier. Next choice is going to be the veggie ruben sandwich for me. read more

Went there with my dad, had a large Jazzy bowl with grilled chicken(no grill marks though) dad had the medium smokey bowl with southwest chicken. Good taste. But, I don't understand how I got less chicken and less sauce when I got a LARGE and my dad got a medium. Other than that it was pretty good. But if you can't portion the primary ingredient of the dish to the cost of what you're paying, then you're asking for people not to come back and shouldn't be in the restaurant business. read more

Wow! This is hands down amazing! Super fresh and loaded with flavor!! I can't believe I haven't been to this little slice of heaven before. As a vegetarian, this place has so much to offer! I was so looking forward to a place that offered a gluten free menu with a bit of flavor...we've given this place 3 tries and have to say... 1) If the manager is in-house, you'll likely have a better experience. 2) If not, cashiers take your order & speak quickly and are not helpful, unless you want a "sample"...then, I guess you'll be happy. 3) On all 3 visits, there was an error in our order. Once, I ordered a medium, received a large. Once, we asked for soup add-on, didn't get it because it wasn't listed on the receipt...and so on. 4) The clean up is very iffy. And, if you watch them, they simply "sweep" the crumbs to the floor & walk away. Yuck & they have CARPETS! Dear Manager: Please start watching what is going on! During the first month after this franchise opened the food was awesome and the staff was great. But last week I ordered take-out for 3, and what we were given was not at all what we had come to expect. The bowls were missing olives, cilantro, and salsa, and the small bit of sauce was a thick glue stuck to the bottom. They consisted of avocado (an uncut half on top), unseasoned black beans and rice, and glue sauce. I don't even know what was in the chicken wrap, as the filling was so tiny it wasn't visible, and my friend who ate it complained that it was dry and hard (he broke the plastic knife trying to cut through it). All this for just under $25. I filled out a comment card last week but haven't heard back from the manager. Summary: uneven quality, unresponsive manager. This cafe started out great but fell apart fast. I won't be back. read more

How hard is it to follow instructions? I ordered a bowl. I got a bowl with so much sauce it's basically soup. I drove 25 minutes across town... each direction. That's basically an hour on the road for a friggin bowl of soup that I didn't ask for or want. At least they remembered to put the chicken in it and it tastes great. read more

I love this place. I work next door and I can always coins on them for a good quick lunch. I like all the options and no one gets annoyed with my kind of picky order- and they've also never messed it up! Clean, nice bathroom, efficient and friendly staff....and they serve beer....but they lost me with the food. The rice was delicious, but the rest left me craving something with a little more something. Just can't say what was missing. Portion size small and healthy. Horrible slow service, 10 mins for a Dr Pepper for my kid and 30 mins for the food. Asked for yumm sauce for the salmon burger which came out with none. Over cooked and really just not tasty. They say the salmon is from the northwest but it totally looks and tastes like farmed Atlantic salmon. Water was plentiful and pretty tasty but no ice. I have never experienced worse customer service than we did at this location. It was dinner hour on a holiday and you could tell the employees didn't want to be working and did everything they could to make the experience as uncomfortable as possible and the food as bad as they could.
