Gotta love having a healthier, Gluten Free option in the area. Granted its not always low calorie once you add all the yumm sauce and toppings (avocado, cheese, ect). But it's so tasty! The yumm bowl is basically a rice a bean bowl with a sorts of choices for toppings. You can get the yumm sauce with is kinda tangy and salty or a more traditional teriyaki sauce. The yumm bowls are delicious but personally I love the bento plate with chicken. It's packed at lunch and and parking here is very limited, however, the food is always made quickly. read more

I love Yumm Bowl and Yumm Sauce and the whole concept but this location sucks. The food was fine but the dining room was filthy. 50% of the tables were dirty and none were cleaned during my meal. The outdoor tables and chairs were not available despite the perfect, sunny Saturday. The bathroom was out of paper towels and condiment station was a mess. All of the bus tubs were overflowing. I went there to grab my to go order. There was a guy standing at a register so I walked over to that register. The guy walked away, completely ignored me. He kept walking in and out of the back as the line to order kept growing behind me. The girls are in the back just talking to each other so I made it a point to make eye contact and still no one comes out. Five minutes later a girl comes out to ask what I'm waiting for. I told her I had been waiting for ten minutes and she told me I was in the wrong line. There was a long line forming behind me because no one was at the registers. Went there for the first time tonight. I ordered a tofu bento ($7), my husband ordered the chicken bento ($8) with an extra chicken skewer (4) and my daughter just got a tofu skewer ($3), apple juice (1.50) and a cookie ($1.75). It came to $25 plus $2 tip. When we got our food it was just rice, coleslaw and a skewer. I got the Yumm sauce and it just tasted like a mustard hummus to me. After the meal I was still hungry and wondering how this place was going to make it. It's quick service style where they just bring you your food, you have to clean up. I just don't think the prices match the food and service and I think others probably feel the same. The place was empty for a Saturday at 6-7pm. My husband said he definitely had better chicken skewers and it wasn't worth $12. I did the math in my head on my plate. I can buy a block of organic tofu for $1.29 and get at least 3 skewers out of it, that's .40 for the tofu, the cabbage was probably .25 worth, dressing .30 and the rice no more than .50 and add some bbq sauce for .50. Total if I made it would be $1.95. Can't justify the extra $5 to eat it there. Note: I learned how to make Yumm sauce with half the fat and 1/4 the price. Compare this to when we ate at Hakatamon for $25 plus $6 tip. My husband got Kimchi Fried Rice, spicy salmon roll and green tea. I got a large salad with their amazing dressing and green tea. My daughter got miso soup and tempura green beens and a root beer. I think it was a much better deal. Update: I just got this random message from Amber M. sent a week ago. The person is spewing all kinds of insults at me for this review. I'm guessing she works there because she took it so personally. We've been back once and I tried something else but still wasn't impressed. Now I'm definately not going back. I just saw a "compliment" from Aaron G. claiming to be the Owner/Manager. He wanted to point out that there is Yumm sauce on my DC Vegetarian Cart sub. There is not according to their menu, my taste buds and eyes, lol. Man, talk about sensitive. I don't even think they read my review. The whole point is the food is too expensive for the portions. He offered to buy my lunch but I'll pass. Didn't expect to get this much of a response. I just felt like being helpful to the members here and it would be great if they increased their portions or decreased the price. I don't like getting ripped off. From the snooty person who took our order, to the LONG wait (we were the only people in there), and to the colder tasting food, OMG...worst Cafe Yumm! experience ever. And I was so happy that Portland opened a Cafe Yumm!, errrrrr, Beaverton opened a Cafe Yumm! See, the snooty lady that took our order corrected me when I said Portland, "umm...there is no Portland location" -- and I was like, "well, this is the Portland area, right?" I honestly love the yumm bowls and the yumm sauce and those keep me coming back, but last night, I went into this location and received service from a rather rude teen who seemed more concerned about the tip I left (which was not earned, but as someone who also works in the food service industry, I tip everywhere) than actually providing me with customer service. I'd heard a lot about this place, but hadn't gotten the chance to check it out until a few weeks ago when I moved into Beaverton. All my friends had raved about the Yumm Sauce and the bowls they made there, so I decided I'd try one. I was incredibly disappointed. The Yumm Sauce is just not for me. It was a little too tangy or sour. My boyfriend LOVED it though, so we decided to go back and try it again. I opted for a curry stew, salad with spicy peanut dressing, and the tofu skewers. It was love at first bite. Everything was DELICIOUS. I was a bit hesitant about a stew that had yams in it, but the hesitation flew right out the window as soon as I tasted it. It was perfect. The vinagrette on the salad was to die for. I really hope I can buy it in bulk at the restaurant because I have become addicted. The barbeque tofu skewers were perfect and crispy, but not too crispy. The flavor was wonderful. I cannot wait to go back and have these things again. read more

Ate at Cafe Yumm today - first time. My new friend and next door neighbor recommended it and she used to work there! She insisted we check it out for lunch, so we did. I had the spicy jazzy bowl with tempeh added. The heat level could have been kicked up a bit - I understand that next time I can ask them to add extra sesame jalapeno salsa. The "Yumm Sauce" was incredible... it really tied together all of the ingredients - which were fresh and delicious! I'll absolutely be back to try other items on the menu! This place is wonderful! Fast, healthy, and delicious sauces. The hot and jazzy and smoky bowl are favorites. It is true however that the portions are small and expensive. The large bowl is just barely enough if I am not too hungry. Woof. Only way to describe this place. Operations needs some overhauling. The cashiers must've been trained to say "Next customer" because even when you're looking at the menu they'll say it to you multiple times. Menu is also very confusing and they're trying to please too many people. Enormous jugs of "Yumm Sauce", which looks like some kind of canola oil based sauce, is available for purchase to take home. Not appetizing. Food is sloppy and combines weird ingredients into the same bowl. Rice bowls are right up my alley and I'm not very picky, but this was pretty gross. My coworker's bowl had watery salsa that made his entire bowl liquidy. I asked for "Yumm Sauce" on the side but they said it comes in the bowl. I think my request confused the cashier. I'd recommend to operations to reduce menu size and focus on making quality food rather than using their current shotgun approach, which results in a lot of mediocre options. Next time I will skip Cafe Yumm for the Subway next door. read more

I used to work nearby and go here all the time. I went today because I had a craving and was extremely disappointed. Apparently they've stopped carrying Braggs Aminos. They didn't provide any replacement such as soy sauce. This means the bowls are extremely dry and bland. I don't understand. It's like serving fries without offering any dipping sauce in my opinion. I have been going there for the last 2 years and loved it, however, I've recently experience some extremely poor customers service that has me giving up on them. 1) they sell sauces OTHER than their traditional, but you can NOT sample it or even order it on a menu item. 2) I have been buying the sauce to make bowls at home (and tipping on those purchase!) but the sauce went bad after a few weeks, when it had 3 more months until it "expired." They would not exchange it or give any sort of discount. I'm now making it at home for a lot cheaper and don't have to deal with the crappy customer service. read more
