The just slightly dim lighting and European library theme creates the perfect ambiance for sitting and staying awhile with work or a book. I am so absolutely in love with this place! I'm so sad that it's taken so long for me to discover this place, because it's basically everything that I want in a coffee shop! The decor has a bit of a classic feel mixed in with some steampunk influences, and they have a good selection of seating (large tables, small booths, or couches) depending on your preference. Drinks: Their cappuccino is solid, albeit not out-of-the-park amazing, but their chai latte is the bomb! It's the perfect blend of smooth flavor with an appropriate tint of spice. Even better, both these hot drinks come out very, very hot (which is often my main complaint - that the drink isn't hot enough). Their mocha frappe is also tasty, but only modestly superior to what you could get at Starbucks. Sandwiches: I tried the roast beef sandwich, which was exactly what I wanted (especially with the horseradish mayo), although the bread was a bit rough and ended up tearing up the roof of my mouth. No matter - the meat and sauce were so good that I endured the pain for the deliciousness. Desserts: This is the reason that this cafe gets 5 stars (that and the decor and ambiance)! Yes, the desserts are a bit pricey, but I completely believe that the extra cost is completely worth it. Their pumpkin praline is the perfect blend of creamy sweetness without being too overwhelming, whilst their flourless chocolate cake is an explosion of dark chocolate happiness in your mouth. I even loved their apple coffee cake, and apple-based desserts are usually the first ones that I disregard. I needed a spot where I could work on some Graf school assignments while visiting Boston. Just walking by this place seemed cool and boy was I right. The bar/order area is fantastic. The staff here was incredibly helpful. I asked if their smoothies had dairy (I'm allergic). Ordered a mango smoothie and a BLT. To my surprise the BLT stayed warm pretty long and it was great on chibatta (sp?) bread. The was a fairly large crowd here on a Friday afternoon, but it didn't effect with wifi connection. One of the largest coffee shops downtown, yet it somehow still feels cozy and warm -like a study in an old mansion. Nothing like the coffee shops I've been to in France or Spain! As a European chain, Nero definitely draws more European customers than the other coffee spots nearby. The decor may not remind me at all of European coffee shops, but the coffee sure does! My husband's latte was served on a saucer with a miniature stirring spoon. I don't recall the brand they use, but it tasted like top quality beans to me. I love this place. It is my #1 place to come to on the weekends to slave over hw, but unfortunately a lot of other people have the same thought as me and the place can get pretty crowded. Who doesn't wants a large coffee shop with a superb environment and friendly staff? Drinks are great, easy to customize and you can watch them make your drinks. The sandwiches are really great and I recommend sparing the time to allow them to toast it. The bread is thick and yummy, without being dry. Their toasted vegetable sandwich is my personal favorite! All their pastries are rather tasty, but I would pass on their cookies since they're nothing special. What a hopping place! Located directly across Emerson College's Paramount Theater, this chic coffee shop has all the beverage and bakery items to meet your needs at reasonable prices! The seating area s a little bit larger than Starbucks or the Thinking Cup and it has always been packed when I have gone so I have not actually sat there but am hoping to at some point soon since it looks so comfy! Since it has always been so crowded, it has been a little loud but i think that adds to the atmosphere. On my last visit I had a peppermint hot chocolate and a butter croissant and they were delicious! Others in my party had various coffee drinks and opted for the hand crafted sandwiches that looked beautiful and fresh. Their menu is vast and varied and you will find something for everyone here. We stay at the Hyatt Regency nearby for business often and usually have to haul ass to Starbucks a few blocks away for breakfast - I refuse to pay big bucks for a mediocre hotel bfast. Anyhow.. This trip we noticed Cafe Nero- FINALLY! You stand in line to order and they can bring to your table it you can carry yourself. Nice welcoming decor, good vibe (except for the gruff older slightly fluffy mgr type who barged into my order though my server had it well under control) lots of baked goods (amazing croissants- can get filled & pressed too) and yogurt parfaits (v.yummy) etc. Coffee drinks were great - we tried espressos, lattes, cappuccinos etc over the weekend here- not cheap but about on par with Starbucks. Well executed and delicious. Outdoor seating would be fun but it was I characteristically chilly during our visit. Ample bathrooms and plenty of seating b4 9:30am. I loved Caffe Nero when I lived in London for a year. I went there (almost) everyday, sometimes switching it up with the local shops. The space in Boston is beautiful. It has a nice wooden old feel, like your cute grandma's living room. It's a great escape from the surrounding area which can be quite... hectic. However I was disappointed in my coffee today. I have pretty fond memories of what Caffe Nero should taste like, so I was surprised when my Small Cappuccino didn't taste or look like a Cappuccino (hint: it was made as a Latte instead). That said, the latte tasted fine (not exceptional). I saw that the barista used milk that had already been steamed and was left out. It took her less than 10 seconds to make my cappuccino. This spot is still relatively new so I'm sure a large chain like Caffe Nero will work the kinks out, but for now I'll stick with Thinking Cup until they do. read more

Caffe Nero makes me very happy because it reminds me of the UK, where these cafes are everywhere. I got here at about 9:00am on a Sunday morning, and there was still ample seating. However, it started to get crowded at around 10:00am and continued to be busy until I left around noon. There is ample plug space near the seating, and the wifi is good quality (must-haves for study spaces, no?). Service was great and friendly too. And the bathrooms were super clean! Ordered the three layered chocolate cake with a medium size americano around 1pm. Based on the Yelp reviews, i had high expectation on this particular chocolate cake. However, it was extremely dry and too sugar sweet, not chocolate cacao sweet. Huge disappointment. I went to the counter if it was left over or out dated piece from yesterday based on its dryness, but they responded they have no clue because they buy frozen cakes and thaw them. Now I have no reason to come all the way down here to try out all the baked goods here as I planned before I had a bite of this chocolate cake. read more

It was my first time visiting yesterday! A lot of my friends love Caffe Nero so I was really happy to finally get a chance to go. And we found seats! When my friend and I arrived it was packed, people were waiting to get seats or just eating while standing. Luckily, we were able to find two seats for us almost immediately after ordering. I ordered a chai latte and breakfast frittata and my friend got the vanilla latte I believe. It was hard to taste the chai in my chai latte, it mostly tasted like milk to be honest. My friend's drink was better, still mostly tasted milk but the vanilla was easier to taste. The breakfast frittata was delicious! And it was a pretty decent size. It had bacon, egg, and cheese and the bacon is actually IN the egg. It's not bacon strips. Besides the food and drinks, the interior design is beautiful and I'd love to study there if it wasn't so crowded. Definitely a place to check out! read more

Cool and inviting place, the Americano coffee is perfection, it's on the pricier side, small coffee ran me close to $3 but the coffee was well worth it. For the almond soy lovers out there, they supply it for your coffee and every other creamer you little caffeinated heart warms to.
