New owners are very nice and friendly. Lunch was very tasty. Patrick immediately brought fresh sliced bread with a dried tomatoe aolli. Not my favorite, but I dont like aolli! We ordered lentil soup which really hit the spot. We also had the fried calamari. It was tender and crisp with a wonderful spicy marinara. Presentation was 100%. The chicken quesadilla was huge and filled with chicken, cheese, and asparagus (that's a new one!). It needed a little "heat". Rounding our lunch was a glass of house cab, very light. We had a large work group and felt very taken care of by our servers. They were constantly refilling our waters and taking any empty dishes away. Our server let us know the list of their specials and they all sounded delicious. Only issue was we did not know the price of each. With work covering everything, we only had a certain amount to spend so that would have been helpful information. We ordered some appetizers: calamari and bruschetta. The favorite was definitely the bruschetta. For my entree, I went with the Roma salad and added grilled chicken. There was a lot of chicken, which I was happy with! It also came with around 6-7 stacks of tomato and mozzarella! I just wish there had been a little more lettuce. But overall, I enjoyed it. A few people did not like their meals and only ate about 1/3. One was the Boa Bowtie, another was the Tortellini Brigantino. They were out of tortellini though, so it was ravioli. But they were not pleased with the quality of either dish. The atmosphere was nice. I wish it had been a bit warmer so we could have enjoyed the outdoor patio! It was super cute. Overall, Caffé Boa is not a bad option. We were staying across the street so it was nice to be so close. But it was not our favorite of the trip. read more

Hadn't been since the new owners took over. Caprese salad split 3 ways=yummy; hubby had beef lasagne, auntie had ravioli stuffed with porcini mushrooms, I had the Chianti braised beef with pasta. All were good. Tiramisu was yummy and the butter cake comes in tiny portions, but tasty. Alex was an excellent waiter and mixes a mean margarita. Our only complaint was the live music was too loud. Cafe Boa in Ahwatukee is one of my favorite restaurants. Excellent, fresh food, the Crostini assortment is my favorite. The ambiance is relaxed and posh. Most beautiful patio in Ahwatukee ! We were there yesterday, for lunch. With the misters on, it was cool and comfortable on. 94 degree afternoon. Shady with a gorgeous fountain. You would never know you were in a Strip Mall. They have an early happy hour with reasonable priced small bites. Jess, our Server, was delightful ! Courteous and friendly, she made sure we had refills and excellent service. We just got home from a wonderful time at Cafe Boa on Elliot. First time ever. This restaurant is charming and feels very upscale while at the same time casual and welcoming. The outdoor patio is like sitting in the courtyard of a home in Tuscany. It's shaded, quiet, light misters and a beautiful fountain to view. Our waiter Marcos was attentive, easy to talk to, and knowledgeable of the menu. We ordered one of every happy hour appetizer and they did not disappoint. Our meals included Lasagna, a sonora salad with a delicious vinagarette dressing and Butternut squash ravioli. The meatballs are excellent. The Bruschetta does not fall all over from the crostini when you bite. :) Our dessert of brownies and ice cream with fruit was the perfect ending. I know everyone has a different experience they are looking for and in this economy eating out can be pricey but imo This restaurant is worth the time for an enjoyable night out and worth trying. My husband used to love going to this restaurant at least once a week. We like to support small business owners but we aren't supporting this business anymore since 6/14/2024 by the owners decision. My husband was eating at the bar area and I came in to say goodbye to him because I was leaving town for the weekend. Since we are experiencing triple digit temperatures these days I brought our two medical alert dogs inside with me (both are legally certified). The host asked me if I wanted to seat at the patio because I had the dogs with me. I thanked him for the offer and explained him that I wasn't staying because I just needed a few minutes to talk to my husband. He was kind and was okay with me doing that. Patrick the owner on the other hand, as soon as he saw me walking towards my husband started yelling at me and mentioned that dogs weren't allowed in his establishment. I tried to tell him that I wasn't staying and that the dogs were service dogs but he didn't even let me talk because he kept on yelling at me "GET OUT OF HERE NOW" and as I was keep on trying to explain myself he got louder screaming "I SAID NOW" So I realized that it was pointless trying to show him the dogs certification card. It was a very embarrassing moment to say the least. So, I just kissed my husband and left to avoid a bigger scene. This man is not a friendly person at all, he never acknowledge us even though we were regulars customers. We didn't care because Marcos the bartender is very friendly and after all he is the one who always took care of us. The only time Patrick is calm and quiet is around 3:00 p.m. when he starts drinking his vodka at the bar. He doesn't represent a small business owner at all. He has NO business running a restaurant. We were kicked out and humiliated when the host welcomed us in with our 2 service dogs. Once the owner saw the dogs, he immediately came over and said we weren't welcome inside. Brought family from out of town in for dinner on the patio. We had a great experience. Service was excellent and the food was all amazing. Personally had the Caesar salad and gnocchi. We (3 colleagues including myself) stopped in today around 11:20 am for lunch. It was completely empty, great. There was a strong smell of old dirty mop water that filled the room. I think the waitress noticed our faces. My colleague asked if we could sit outside (because of the smell). The waitress walked us outside but gave us the disclaimer that they just finished washing off the tables and chairs (everything was wet). So inside we went. One colleague ordered the Steak Medallions with French Fries and Steamed Vegetables (Broccoli and peppers). It's not on the menu but on the "Specialties" wall inside of the restaurant. It was delicious! My other colleague ordered a cheeseburger with fries. I didn't try it but he said it was okay, nothing significant about it. I ordered the Salmon Burger, no sides accompanied the sandwich. The salmon burger is served with a side of lemon aioli - it's scrumptious. It should be served with it on the sandwich. What a hidden gem! My husband and I had dinner on a Saturday night, and everything was superlative. Restaurant is located in a strip mall, and at first glance, we were a bit apprehensive about our choice. However, that apprehension quickly disappeared upon entering a charming and welcoming atmosphere. We were greeted with a smile and quickly seated. We chose inside, although there is a patio that looks very nice as well. We just can't say enough positive to express our enjoyment and appreciation for the food and service. We kept waiting for there to be a weak link in the evening, from our starter salads (my husband had the Julius and I had the house), main courses (lasagna and chianti braised beef over rigatoni), then dessert (cheesecake and butter cake), but there wasn't one. The menu choices (with several enticing specials) were refreshing as compared to some other Italian restaurants, and the food was absolutely delicious. Our waiter provided fantastic service; it was a perfect balance of attentiveness and privacy. He genuinely seemed to care that we had a nice evening with quality food and service. He possessed qualities that are missing in many of the Valley's finer restaurants. If only other servers could go here for training to see how it should be done. I am not one who normally writes reviews; however, Caffe Boa (the one on Elliot) deserves to be recognized and enjoyed by many others. We do not live anywhere close, but we will be making the trip to visit again and will encourage others we know to stop here when they are anywhere in the area. Yesterday, Friday, july 18th, Words can't express the disappointment. The food order came to 87.00! It arrived in half portions, uncooked vegetables, and on each entree 3 peas in one dish with 3 thin slices of mushroom. The house salad was plain and other salad missing ingredients as well. I spoke with Scott, manager. He informed me that I he would have to talk to the chef and get back with me tomorrow. I said what should I eat tonite. He said " well?" What u have? Pick at it. Really?!!! It's saturday at midnight. No call or care in the world about me. I guess caffe boa just wants money and no return customers or care for their customers. Had dinner on a Thursday night, 7/30/2020 . It was for my birthday. I ordered the filet medallion's. My husband had salmon. These were the "specials". My meal was horrible. Basically, it was 3 thin slice tough pieces of meat about the thickness and size of of an quarter on top of a pile of mashed potato, it was sooo salty! My husband's salmon was just as bad. We have not gone out to dinner since Covid and it was such a huge disappointment. Our server did not even ask how it was, which really speaks volumes! Really really good Italian fare! We started with the calamari fritti and the crostini boa. The tender rings of calamari were perfectly seasoned and fried topped with EVOO. Their crostini is out of this world! All different cheeses, meats, figs, and salmon on top of a toasted baguette. A perfect duo to start the meal. I had fettuccine Alfredo with large pan seared shrimp. The sauce was well balanced and a blend of fresh cream and cheese. The pasta was cooked al dente- perfectly firm to the bite. I'm not sure if they make their own pasta. If they don't they have me fooled. It was fantastic and rustic. Not to mention the portion size is reflective of the price. Rude staff. Asked about a price for a drink from a man behind the bar, when seated the waitress said that they did not have a bartender and called my wife a lier basically. She got the same drink as another in the party and she was charged a different price. Later found out that they have had 3 health violations. read more

This place is an absolute joke! The server is wearing 4 or 5 hats so the service is ridiculously slow. Server is taking orders, food running, tending bar and trying to keep up with bussing tables as well. Our table became so clutter with uncleared drinks and plates I finally bussed my own table and placed them on the empty table next to us. They must have got the hint and sent someone to clear that table. The owner is doing absolutely nothing but sitting at the bar or walking around every night with a crying baby. If your looking to get away from the kids for a night out with the wife, this is not the spot. Finally the food was delivered and my pasta dish was so over sauced it looked like a stew and the only flavor was this tart, tangy marinara that was suppose to be a pink cream sauce. Before I go on some crazy rant, I will say that I usually try a place twice before writing a review so I will update once I go back but I did not have a great experience. I went on a Thursday night a few weeks ago and had a terrible experience. I didn't get my beer for 15 min and it took about and hour for my main. I had some bruschetta as an app but the bread was not toasted and soggy from the juices from the tomatoes. I ordered the lasagna for my main and it was cold in the middle. I was sat at the bar and the bar tender was mostly doing side work and not providing service. I was also at the end of the bar near the kitchen and there was issues with silverware that the service kept freaking out about and kept saying they couldn't seat any flow guests. Look, i get it, sometimes shit hits the fan, but you cannot let the customer know that. I heard the entire issue and it stressed me out. I would love to try this place again because everyone tells me it's good and I might one day. But for now, this place is a no go for me. read more

Enjoyed an Italian-esque experience at this little neighborhood restaurant with a few girlfriends. We ordered a few dishes to sample while we sipped on Prosecco and wine. The bruschetta and crostini appetizer were flavorful and the bread were perfectly crusty on the outside and soft inside. Appetizers were presented nicely with lots of mixed greens and sliced vegetable crudités to accent the plates. For entree we split the bow tie boa pasta three ways, which was more than sufficient portion size for three ladies! Desert was the homemade butter cake which was perfection! The server was new and still learning the menu, and had a few hiccups along the way with handling dishes and dropping the grated cheese on the floor, and bringing incorrect drinks. It didn't really bother us as these days with CoVid and labor shortages in the restaurant industry, we are all learning and we are all in this together. We tipped generously and lingered over conversation with our desert while the staff quietly cleaned up the restaurant around us.. we were the last to leave around 9pm, but felt no rush by the staff. In the same car park with The Bagel Man and Sakana, Caffe Boa is a charming restaurant with a lovely patio out back which frequently features live music. We've been for Happy Hour, apps, lunch, brunch, and dinner. I only took pics at dinner, which was very good - standout was antipasto platter - and our server Allie was a delight; peep the album to check the snaps. Scott loves ravioli and pesto sauce, the the Angolotti with subbed pesto made him very happy. My stuffed sunfish was expertly prepared, and the antipasto was so large, we took half home. The shrimp bisque and crostini are consistently good choices, every soup I've tried here, I've enjoyed. It seems to always be busy, so reservations are a good idea. They have specials on the board daily, a full bar with HH specials, and the staff from FOH to service are on point. They have wine pairing dinners occasionally, and they are reasonably priced, too. Oh, my Mom went crazy for their butter cake! Also, this location is not affiliated with the Tempe restaurant with same name. Strange experience and mediocre food. My awesome boss gave me a gift card to Caffe Boa some time ago and we decided to use it for a Saturday night dinner out. We were initially going to visit the location in Tempe, but decided to try the Ahwatukee location instead when the internet referred to it as the original location. We sat outside to enjoy the great weather and the patio area here is a definite plus. We were waited on by a lady who appeared to be the owner or manager, and she was training her daughter. She had an interesting personality - definitely not rude, but not engaging or what could be described as friendly, either. We ordered the white wine flight, which was fun & attractively presented with 3 small wine glasses on a rack/stand. The bread, which wasn't as great as one would expect at an Italian restaurant, came out with a bowl of what was described as "aioli." We weren't fans. It was weird and we couldn't quite figure out what was in it. We ordered the sauteed shrimp appetizer, and my husband had to go inside to ask for the garlic toast accompaniment when none was ever brought. When the garlic toast arrived, 2 of the 4 slices were quite black (luckily, I like black toast) and there was no apology for the omission. Our entrees sounded great on the menu, but were disappointing in reality. I ordered Agnolotti Boa, and sadly the flavor of the mushroom ravioli was completely covered by the bland tomato cream sauce it was drowned in. My husband's Boa Bowtie was also bland and uninteresting, and it was missing the asparagus and sun-dried tomatoes (2 of the 4 ingredients described in the menu). We were pleasantly surprised when the tiramisu we had for dessert was delicious and attractively presented. The final downturn of the night for us came when we tried to pay for our meal with the gift card my boss had purchased at the Tempe location. Our server/manager/owner tersely informed us that the Ahwatukee location is not affiliated with the Tempe restaurant and the gift card could not be used. Whaaaat? Why do the restaurants have the same exact name and they both appear on an internet search, with this one described as the original location? We are on a tight budget due to a planned move later this month, and would not have eaten here (and ordered the drinks, appetizer and dessert) had we known the gift card could not be used. And again, no apology for any confusion over the same restaurant names. We later learned, through more thorough internet research, that the original owners had a falling out and parted ways. Unbelievable. We were left shaking our heads and definitely won't be back here. Looking forward to trying the "other" Caffe Boa and hope it's a better experience! read more

It has plenty of parking, warm lighting, live music on some nights, an outside patio, a full bar with lemon drop martinis, happy hour specials, daily specials, friendly staff including the owners, and lots of excellent entree choices salads and desserts. This place use to be one of my favorite lunch stops, always good food and service until yesterday. Another party of 3 there besides my husband and I and it took 45 mins to get our boa bowls which of 5 ingredients (noodles, sauce, 2 vegetables, 1 protein), my husbands was missing green peppers and mine was missing the shrimp. We were hungry and just ate what we could quickly but sat there another 10 mins waiting for the check, waitress then finally brought out a bowl of some grilled peppers and shrimp and saw that we had finished already and were just ready to leave. She handed us our checks for full price even charging for the shrimp I didn't get. There 1.5 hrs for lunch and no refills. I would say maybe she was having an off day but the kitchen seemed incompetent too. Really sad to to have such a poor experience here when it was so great in the past read more
