Las time I visited was 5 years ago and yesterday was as pleasant as the first time! The flavor is the same, the service is great, variety of foods a d wine selection is sublime! If you are a wine lover you must visit the wine cellar, you will go nuts in there! Baths are modern and very clean. As far as C19 bio security, precautions are taken (no Temperature check), cleaning between customers, social distancing and sanitizer is offered. Ended up here for Mother's Day with the family. Small, cozy place with fast and courteous service. Food was tasty and yummy. We ordered a thin crust five cheese pizza to share. Could have been a little less cooked, as some edges were a bit burned but it was still good. Spaghetti and meatballs portion could have been a bit more generous. Meatballs were huge but tasteful. Lasagna was a decent size and perfectly layered. A bit too much sauce, thankfully it was around the actual pasta and not on it. The chicken Alfredo was yummy. Creamy, tasty and a huge portion. Garlic bread was homemade but the garlic was overpowering, even the smell of it. The taste was so strong it didn't go away after eating salad and main meal. All in all we were satisfied and out of there in an hour because of the great and prompt service. I see us going back to try other items on the menu. read more

My wacky work life takes me solo to places where good dining choices abound. This weeks journey led me to Coral Gables and, freed of client commitments, I entertained myself with a favorite pastime...driving for dinner. This is when I get in the car and let karma do the driving. I will avoid chain restaurants and those that are known to be reliable choices and seek out a suitable alternative. I only have two selection attributes: a well lit entrance and the parking lot must be at least half-full. From there, Karma either delivers or I leave disappointed...not so tonight. I found Caffe Italia and Karma was left very satisfied. Caffe Italia is a gem of a find...other than the heavy traffic at the corner of SW 8th & Galiano street, one would think they were just down from the Coliseum in Rome. When I try a new Italian venue I go for the basic... spaghetti and meatballs! The meatball was firm, flavorful and without a speck of bread or cracker crumb filling. The sauce was 'order by the glass' worthy delivering a smooth finish, a hint of garlic with robust tomato notes and well-balanced seasoning. The wine selections offered puts Caffe Italia in the space of an exceptional wine shop that serves excellent Italian fare if they so desired. Disappointed with the people they hire to do their deliveries!!!! I was trying to park on the side of the restaurant as I realized there was a car that just parked incorrectly in two parking spots. I parked in front of the car and started beeping at the person so she could park correctly. Not only did the driver approach me in a "intimidating" way she was giving me attitude and stating I was not allowed to park there and that I would get a ticket. I told her that I was allowed to park there since they are parking meters. To my surprise, this driver with a nasty Attitude works and makes deliveries for this restaurant. She got upset I told her that and moved her car aggressively and parked inside the restaurants lot parking lot instead where she SHOULD have parked in the first place! If you want your business to succeed, I suggest you hire drivers that DON'T block parking spots SPECIALLY when they're JUST picking up orders! read more

I remember my first time visiting here back in the early 90's. I was a teenager and didn't like most food. The food here blew my mind. I loved everything. Not just the pizza and the glorious cheesy dishes. All of the plates always come out perfect. The rolls are always top notch, don't even start eating them, you won't be able to stop. The owner here is very cool and friendly. I believe there was some relationship here with the old Villa Italia on Coral Way. I used to like the take out special pizza at Villa Italia. Villa Italia was a great place to grab some tasty food. But Caffe Italia always seemed like the classy cousin. The food quality is consistently high. I really can't recommend this place enough. My only regret is not visiting here more often when I lived in Miami. It was literally just a few blocks away from my house. So very disappointed in the quality, texture, flavor and even wine. How they got good reviews is beyond me. The wine was supposed to be SanGiovese and tasted like a cheap bubble gum flavor. Thank you Yelp for leading us to the Italian restaurant from our childhood!!! It is just as good, if not better, than its old incarnation from our youth. From beginning to end our experience was delightful. We were treated warmly by the whole staff and the service was top notch. The garlic rolls are the best we've had in a long while and you can tell they are made from scratch and with love. Same goes for the perfectly crisp and delicious 5 cheese white pizza we ordered. Our waitress even took the extra time to slow pour my Arnold Palmer so it took on the appearance of of crafted cocktail (making you think its Friday on a Tuesday, what's better than that?!!) Last, but certainly not least, we would like to extend a special shout out to the owner, Georgina, who went that extra mile to make sure everything was up to her standards, which judging by the experience we had are quite exceptional. I can't have a better baked zitti anywhere. At one time i even had them bring me the chef , so i could complement him on the lasagna is that good. The price for the quality of the food is fair. the wines are awesome, the staff is lovely and professional very attentive always. Food quality is just decreasing every time I go. 25 dollars for takeout pasta with olive oil and chicken with mid at best chicken. Their everything pizza was clearly not cooked enough and the amount of grease that was on the pizza on the box soaked into the crust was just not appetizing at all. Despite the absolutely negative comments I've heard from coworkers (I'll refrain from repeating as I did not see nor did I have the same experience) decided to give this place a try with a friend for lunch. We were sat right away and the place was busy for a Wednesday afternoon. I decided to go with their Boneless Chicken Marsala Mushroom lunch special. It was nothing to rave above. The chicken was bland. You could tell they removed the chicken from the pan before it could get that beautiful golden brown color. The sauce was more of a juice than a sauce. Normally, those dishes come with a thick mushroom sauce and that was not the case. And the dish came 6 little pieces of mushrooms. Totally disappointed. At least the pasta was cooked perfectly. Honestly, the bread that they give as a starter was better than the meal itself. I do remember having a taste of my friend's dish to try (she ordered the lasagna) and it was tasty but gave me major hurt burn. Not sure if I'd give this place another go. read more

I ordered a Chicken Francaise which was NOT chicken Francaise! And we also ordered a Vegetable Risotto which was actually yellow rice and vegetable (I kid you not!) This has been my favorite Italian place for years and years. When I first came here, there was a little back room where you could watch the pasta being made. Since most of Miami is not saturated in true Italian culture, one is easily seduced by the charm of fresh made pasta. Year in and year out, this little restaurant has kept it's charm without getting dated. The wine list has a hearty selection but their house is perfectly fine. The dessert selection goes far beyond tiramisú. My favorite is the tartufo. Alas, my singular negative lies with what has been but will no longer be my favorite dish; the Cannelloni. There was a time that this was the singular reason to come in. Tonight, I realize the love affair is over. The person making this dish has lost all sense of the magic. I was pleasantly surprised when I passed by a place with a "homemade pasta" sign around my 'hood. I checked it out today after losing the battle against a vicious pasta craving. Surprisingly, despite the shabby exterior and quite random location, the inside of this place is nice and has a simple elegance. White tablecloths and wine bottles make up the crux of the decor. I only did take-out and the staff was cordial, not super friendly and not rude. I noticed that although the woman spoke English, the male waiter did not speak English at all, but who care's it's 8th st. Really, it's freakin' Miami. Anywho, I ordered tortellini in pink and it was sooo crazy filling. The portion is about what you'd expect. The sauce (alfredo/marinara mix) was good, but not great. It was very cheesy and creamy with a perceptible touch of nutmeg. What I wanted was more garlic flavor, but the sauce tasted authentic and, having explored real Italian recipes, they don't really use mounds of garlic like we imagine, in most cases. The pasta was absolutely perfect. It was fresh, tender, and almost creamy smooth, from the pasta itself to the filling. Overall, the dish certainly filled my tortellini craving and it was good, just not amazing. The dish typically comes with regular bread, but I got garlic rolls for a buck and some change more and it was INSANE! It was doused in butter and FRESH garlic, and I'm talkin MOUNDS of it!! The bag was full of what looked like about 4 crushed/minced cloves. YUM! The bread was the harder type on the outside and the garlic butter soaked the outside crust, while the inside was still soft and yummy and the sauce didn't penetrate, so it didn't turn into mush. As for the tiramisu, I would never order it again. It wasn't at all nasty, but something just wasn't right. The cream was too thick (pretty sure it was straight mascarpone, as opposed to a mascarpone-based cream) and only half of the lady fingers were soaked in coffee (which totally chocked both texture and flavor) and it all added up to just being off-tasting. As far as the big would-i-return finish. The answer is Yes. I would try another dish, likely lasagna and definitely during lunch time again. This place is a bit pricey. Lunch specials are reasonable, but once you add on dessert, forget about it. I paid just under 22 for tortellini pink, garlic rolls, and tiramisu during lunchtime. Wow! When i'm on a date night, then I'll go for dinner, but with those prices, it's certainly not going to be my go-to dinner delivery. Yup so I pretty much got what I read about here in Yelp . The place is cute the staff are super friendly and very attentive . I think mostly they are the reason why am even giving them 3 stars . The food , really was not to my liking. I got the lemon chicken it look very pretty ... But so sad to say it did not taste good . I thought it was a bit slimy I don't know if it was the sauce or the chicken really. The pasta was cooked well not to soft not to hard but the flavor was just like eating pasta alone with nothing. The food was horrible at best, and way overpriced, $193.29 with out gratuity, the pizza was cool and tasteless , my wife order the lamb ribs and they were overdone and had a very bad foul smell to it, the Ossobuco that the other couple order was also cool and tasteless and according to them also had a funny smell/taste. Went it came time to pay the hand written bill was wrong, the sales tax in Miami-Dade is 7% and they have their own rules and are charging 8%. Went we complained a drunken and dirty old men came out screaming in Spanish with a horrible attitude saying that he had been here for 35 years and he knew what he was doing, went I requested a copy of the hand written bill he began to make treads after a while they gave me a copy of the bill. The food is way overpriced, tasteless and rotten, for a neighborhood run down place like this and yes I will be filling a complaint with the Florida Department of Revenue. I loved this place when I first discovered it but today was a dreadful experience. I had a FINGER NAIL in my salad. Looked like a french tip. I let my server know and he even agreed it looked like a nail. He gave me a new salad which was nice however I was still charged for the salad which was extremely weird. I didn't ask for a new salad in the first place and I was not rude about a nail being in my salad but the least you could do is take it off of the bill.
