I was delighted surprised and everything else they offer is equally delicious. I fell in love when I entered this little town, the restaurants, the culture, the vibe and music, but mostly the people. New Yorkers are different, I'm from Oregon, but felt at home here. I didn't want to leave. The service was great and helpful. I *will* admit that I only experienced Caffé Palermo's Gelato & Cannoli. So, here is my review on those two items: Service was on-point. I walked up to the counter; No wait. A lovely gentleman, with a smile on his face, issued a "What can I get for you?" and "Is this to stay or to go, Hun?". Great guy. The man ordered a Pistachio Gelato, I ordered a Chocolate Gelato, and we each got a traditional Cannoli to go. While waiting for our change from the cashier, I tried a spoonful of my Chocolate Gelato. Oh. My. Sweet. Baby. Geezus. I told the gentleman that handed me my Gelato: "This isn't Gelato... This is "Heaven". You're serving "Heaven" in these little cups, right here." He told me that the Gelato was imported from Italy on a frozen, sealed crate. That explained the *distinct authenticity* I tasted and felt. You see... there is an unmistakable difference between fake-Gelato (aka: Ice Cream) and authentic-Gelato. When you "chew" a spoonful of fake-Gelato, the spoonful will separate into two pieces, in your mouth, and STAY separated. True Gelato, when chewed, separates when your teeth are down but the moment you re-open your mouth (in attempts to chew again) the two pieces of Gelato "suction-cup" back together. True Gelato is slightly gummy. It's so rich, you can't really chew it. You have to be patient with it, allowing it to dissolve in your mouth. Ugh... Heaven. We had our Cannoli's when we got home. And again: Oh. My. Sweet. Mary. Mother. Of. God. Crisp shell, creamy, un-gritty/extra smooth filling, loaded with *just* enough chocolate chips, where it's not too much but definitely not too little. End result: I *highly* recommend Caffé Palermo for a dessert run. Our first time in New York and this place came recommended as they have "the best" cannolis. Being that we love to try and eat many different places and the person who recommended this place travels a lot, we had high expectations. First off we headed out at 10am, which I thought was a late start. When we got to the place they didn't open til 11:30. I guess coming from a 24 hour town I thought it was odd for a bakery to open so late in the day. So we walked around for an hour to wait for opening. They let us in around 11:20 and gave us menus. I was only there to try the cannolis but of course the guys wanted food. A nice lady came to take our order and said the food items cannot be ordered yet. We ordered mini and regular sized cannolis, a tiramisu, red velvet, and an apple tart. Honestly the apple tart was the best thing I ate. The people there were awesome and helpful, as I'm sure they knew we were tourist. However is this "the best" cannolis? I'd have to say not really. This place was on our list for a while so while visiting Ferrara Bakery we thought it's a great time to check them out. We were wrong. NEVER have we experienced such blatant disrespect and what could've easily been viewed as straight discrimination!!! This all happened over two months ago and if you check our reviews you'll notice we rarely if ever have 1 star reviews because we like to sit on a bad experience long enough to think it over and over and then think it over some more to ensure it was truly a bad experience since most times a bad experience can be explained away due to some unforeseen circumstances. This place should fully revamp their staff, including their manager and the woman behind the dessert display if they want to make more sales and business. Why? We walked in and kindly asked if we could buy a few dozen cannolis to post on @nycdessert, our NYC Dessert page to help local businesses gain more exposure and guide New Yorkers to their next sweet treat. The woman immediately began rolling her eyes over and over then told us "move aside we're busy!" Like who talks to this way to paying customers? Okay, so walked over to the only other person there who happened to be the manager who could careless about anything besides playing on his phone. Eventually he looks up and we asked to snap a few pics of the cannoli in the display case. He visibly shooed me away. ‍ At this point I'm like clearly these people working here can't be the owners but for sake of our fans we didn't want them to miss out on delicious dessert so decided to take a few pics from in front of the dessert display case. The same woman behind the counter rushed over like I had just did something horribly wrong by taking pics and says "YOU NEED TO BUY OR GET OUT" Meanwhile I'm watching all the tourists clamor around the dessert display and she says not a word to them. What exactly was done for me to deserve to be spoken to this way in front of all your customers? At this point I'm like cool, maybe its how we "look", we're out of here, and the taste left in our mouths was incredible disappointment . This place obviously is most famous for its cannoli, but I am not the biggest fan of cannoli in general... They do have a lot more items than cannoli which I was very intrigued by. Ample seating inside. Retro decor with a whole mirror wall that makes the place super spacious and open. The pistachio cheesecake is my favorite! The texture is more creamy and less dense than your typical cheesecake- much more smooth and almost mousse like which I love! Pleasant pistachio flavor. Pistachio ricotta cake was interesting. The cream / ricotta part is enveloped between thin cake layers. Overall too sweet for me though. 3 chocolate mousse was very decadent and chocolatey. A bit on the denser side for mousse cake which I liked with this one. Torta nocciola is something new for me. Alternating layers of hazelnut cake, hazelnut cream and chocolate cream, topped with praline hazelnuts. I like the hazelnut cream and hazelnut flavors in the cake. The nuts itself adds some great texture. However again this is overall too sweet for me. Tiramisu with toasted almonds was good, but the almonds crumbs on top was too sweet. I'll probably stick with the traditional tiramisu. Also tried their ricotta and pistachio cup and assorted berry and cream mousse cup. Great flavors but wish there's more though. read more

My trip to New York was only made better by two stops to this delightful dessert destination. I wandered off the street without expectation and was absolutely delighted and spoiled with an amazing after dinner dessert and coffee. The variety of desserts and coffee drinks was amazing! I first want to say that the staff is so incredibly kind and warm! It does seem like everyone on this street is very friendly and I'm glad I felt truly welcomed coming in here. Having a sit down restaurant dedicated to desserts is such a cute idea to me. The menu is extensive with Italian dessert options. Don't be surprised if you a hard time deciding what to get due to analysis paralysis. Giving four stars because the chocolate moose cake was a bit too thick and did not have enough flavor to warrant it.
