It's subtle and silky, but 20 minutes later, I felt my eyes dilate. WOAH! This caffeine ramps up in the most unsuspecting way. FUN! I appreciated the strength, and I happily savored this coffee's cinnamon & brown sugar tones. (Quick Note: There's no customer internet on the weekend.) I arrived at Grey & Cash (Monrovia) on Friday (around 10:40AM). Parking will require a little walking since street parking is very competitive. Fortunately, there's free parking lots scattered nearby, and it's a brisk walk. Staff is professional and diligent. This business is CRAZY busy! The line kept lengthening. Staff politely and efficiently answered my questions. Once I reached the counter (took about three minutes), my drink arrived very quickly. Took about one minute. As mentioned, I enjoyed the Nitro James Brew ($8.25 - 16oz - Chilled). It has no ice, but it's chilled. The coffee is also silky & soft. Initially, I scoffed at the coffee's strength... but as time progressed, the caffeine kept growing stronger & stronger. WOAH! As someone who drinks daily coffee, it's very rare & unique to feel such almost-frightening power. Regarding ambiance, Grey & Cash (Monrovia) felt busy and cramped despite the large space & tall ceiling. There's about nine tables inside, two tall tables, and five outside tables. The location has a self-service water station, high-chairs for kids, and several electrical outlets (counted about six spots). There's also customer internet with password; customers must ask Staff for the details. Also, there's a gender neutral restroom in the back. Its music is fairly loud, but it's upbeat and fun. Overall, I found something unique and special at Grey & Cash (Monrovia). If you love silky, potent coffee, this is a must-try. WOAH! 4.9 out of 5

My friend even asked twice to confirm, and we were told it did NOT come with mayo... but it still came with mayo. I was so hungry that I just ate it, but it was definitely disappointing. My husband ordered the vegan meat burrito in a red tortilla, and we also got café de olla. The food was okay overall, kind of American-style, but nothing special. Service wasn't the best for a first visit. My friend had to wait a long time for her food, and they also forgot her coffee. They did apologize, but it was still frustrating since we had already asked questions before ordering. Now I understand why it wasn't as busy as the place next door. Unfortunately, it wasn't a great first impression, and we probably won't be coming back.

I've driven past Gokí Café countless times on my way to work and finally decided to stop in--and…read moreI'm so glad I did. For those who aren't familiar, Gokí Café draws inspiration from the flavors and traditions of Oaxaca, Mexico, which is reflected throughout the menu. You'll find everything from horchata and mazapán lattes to Oaxacan-inspired drinks, pastries, and food items. I ended up ordering the iced Horchata Latte and an oatmeal cranberry pecan cookie. One important tip: mix the latte before taking a sip. The espresso sits at the top while the milk settles at the bottom, so giving it a good stir makes all the difference. Once mixed, it was absolutely delicious. You could taste the horchata, cinnamon, and espresso all working together perfectly. It was smooth, flavorful, and definitely strong enough to get me through my morning. The oatmeal cranberry pecan cookie was equally impressive. It was soft, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the coffee. Honestly, I finished both much faster than I intended. The café itself is beautiful inside. It's clean, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. One thing I especially appreciated was the study/work area along the wall. Each seat has its own outlet nearby, which makes it a great place to bring a laptop and get some work done without fighting over charging space. The only challenge is parking. The café is located near the railroad crossing, and the parking lot is fairly small. If you arrive during a busy time, you may need to look for street parking or park nearby. Getting out can also take a little patience if a train happens to be passing and traffic begins to back up. The owners and staff were welcoming, and while English may not be their first language, they were kind, patient, and made every effort to communicate with customers. If you speak Spanish, that can definitely make things a little easier as well. Overall, this is a charming local café with unique drinks, excellent pastries, and a welcoming atmosphere. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu because there were so many items I wanted to try.

I actually just stopped by close to closing time so I wasn't able to have my food /beverage here, but the space is clean and welcoming. A spot that seems like it would be great to meet up with people and enjoy beverages/ treats together. Person helping me was very friendly and just ordered a slice of carrot cake to go. I got it to enjoy while watching a movie a little later and it was really delicious. It was also a pretty large slice! Looking forward to coming back here.

They are located behind the blue Moo Moo Mia Ice Cream shop, so they might be a little easy to miss, but I promise, once you find them, it's like stepping into a book lover's dream - tall bookshelves, colorful book titles, comfy seats, and cat themed! I have to spread the word to all of my cat-loving friends. I first heard about Black Cat Fables from my bestie, who is a Monrovia native. She even took me to attend one of their store events - their 2026 Vision Board planning event! We got to meet lovely neighborhood folks, and spent an hour dreaming up the year ahead and meet the store owner, Nicole, and their event planner, Mikayla, whom are both super sweet and friendly. After the event, I couldn't help but grab some beautiful bookmarks and a full collection book of the Jane Austen novels, which is now my next read and sitting beautifully, waiting for me on my bookshelf. They also have their own curated selection of beauty products, home decor, and not to mention, an adorable collection of bookmarks that I just can't resist. I'm a big fan! I am subscribed to their email newsletter and followed their socials to stay up to date, since I don't want to miss a thing from them. I can't wait to see what they have upcoming this year and continue to support them.
