Don't leave without getting a breakfast sandwich! I had the Monroe... everything about it was delicious! The pesto aioli made it so flavorful! Had a honeycomb coffee that was perfect! Great food, coffee & ambiance!

Pretty cute place. Not big but buzz. There are local students art works show case here too. It is always good to support young artists. I got the breakfast bowl with salad. It comes with eggs, avocado, black beans and shredded cheese. So filling! Order at the counter and food is brought to your table. There are parking on the street.

I had a memorable experience at Grey & Cash (Monrovia). I ordered the Nitro James Brew ($8.25 - 16oz - Chilled). It's scary powerful! It's subtle and silky, but 20 minutes later, I felt my eyes dilate. WOAH! This caffeine ramps up in the most unsuspecting way. FUN! I appreciated the strength, and I happily savored this coffee's cinnamon & brown sugar tones. (Quick Note: There's no customer internet on the weekend.) I arrived at Grey & Cash (Monrovia) on Friday (around 10:40AM). Parking will require a little walking since street parking is very competitive. Fortunately, there's free parking lots scattered nearby, and it's a brisk walk. Staff is professional and diligent. This business is CRAZY busy! The line kept lengthening. Staff politely and efficiently answered my questions. Once I reached the counter (took about three minutes), my drink arrived very quickly. Took about one minute. As mentioned, I enjoyed the Nitro James Brew ($8.25 - 16oz - Chilled). It has no ice, but it's chilled. The coffee is also silky & soft. Initially, I scoffed at the coffee's strength... but as time progressed, the caffeine kept growing stronger & stronger. WOAH! As someone who drinks daily coffee, it's very rare & unique to feel such almost-frightening power. Regarding ambiance, Grey & Cash (Monrovia) felt busy and cramped despite the large space & tall ceiling. There's about nine tables inside, two tall tables, and five outside tables. The location has a self-service water station, high-chairs for kids, and several electrical outlets (counted about six spots). There's also customer internet with password; customers must ask Staff for the details. Also, there's a gender neutral restroom in the back. Its music is fairly loud, but it's upbeat and fun. Overall, I found something unique and special at Grey & Cash (Monrovia). If you love silky, potent coffee, this is a must-try. WOAH! 4.9 out of 5

I felt very healthy eating this. The Breakfast Burrito is definitely on the pricier side considering that it comes with no meat & the portion is pretty small. I love the community vibes of this cafe though!

The few items I've tried on the menu are all amazing, I'm currently addicted to the Lox toast as well as the loose leaf teas they have to offer. The women at the register are all so sweet and helpful. The ambience of Grey cash is warm, inviting and they're always playing good music!

Torn on this one. Great place and vibe. Your neighborgood coffee shop that everyone goes to. I ordered about 8 sandwich combos a day before. Called in about 10 times that morning to add another sandwich and was successful on the 10th try. I get it, they are busy. Get there and there are bags and I asked if chips and napkins are in there, cashier says yes. Lunchtime happens and bags are opened in the office, no napkins or chips. Annoying. Sandwiches are great! Thick, filling and high quality.. but I'm embarrassed my clients don't have chips or napkins. Come back and after the fact, let them know, they say go ahead and grab my chips now. I grab 8 and then head back home. I get home and 4 of the 8 chips are expired.. just can't win here :( Service and expired chips here really soured my experience. Otherwise, looks like I place I'd love to sit, chill, enjoy a sandwich.

Came here for brunch and got the rancheros burrito. It tasted alright and didn't have much flavor to it. The space itself is nice though, there are tables and couches, making it a good spot to study or just hang out and chat with friends.

Brunch + Vibes = happy What we ordered. Jive turkey - toasted sourdough turkey, avocado, tomatoes and some yummy sauce. DELICIOUS Jalapeño cheese gluten free bagel- True as advertised. My daughter cannot eat gluten and if this bagel was not gluten free, she would have been sick all day! She said yummy bagel! Rancheros bowl with scrambled eggs, black beans potatoes, avocado, salsa- I liked this bowl I would enjoy it with more potatoes thou. Dirty oatchatta latte - bad girl but she good! James Brown - needs more espresso but it had some flavor. The seasonal banana drinks were sold out by noon! I must come back. Overall, good place. SUPER FRIENDLY STAFF! Whoever was DJ, I loved the music selection! Faye Webster! Nice!

Background On Visit: After finishing brunch at Peach Cafe, we decided to walk to Grey & Cash to get some drinks. Credit Cards: They're accepted. Restroom: Restroom is available. One unisex restroom. Wait Time: Went on Sunday and there was a lot of people inside and outside of the shop. Wait time on the weekend can be long, so try to patient. Coffee Program: Sightglass Coffee roasts their coffee beans for them. Location/Parking: Believe it or not, but this place use to be Parchment Coffee, and before that, it was Friends Cafe. Parking can be found Ambiance/Decor: Pretty cool ambiance with modern furnishings. Service: Service was decent. The barista that helped me was friendly, attentive, and was informational about the shop. Drink Of Choice: Just got the drip coffee ($3.25). It was quite decent. Grey & Cash For Thought: Wouldn't mind coming back to get their drip coffee and try their James Brown drink.

I love trying matcha spots in different areas, so I decided to stop by since this café is close to where I live. The vibe and ambience are really nice modern, clean, and with both indoor and outdoor seating. The girl who helped me choose was very sweet and friendly, which I appreciated. I originally came in hoping to try the strawberry matcha, but it's seasonal and only available in the summer. So I went with the iced pumpkin matcha latte instead. Unfortunately, it wasn't my favorite. I don't think I'd return specifically for the matcha, but they do have other items on the menu that I haven't tried yet, so it might still be worth exploring for others. Overall, a cute spot with great service just not my personal matcha preference this time around.

I got a giftcard to this location and with $10 I can afford drink. It's in old town Monrovia and I never noticed it before. The coffee shop is dog friendly and serves food like avocado toast. The croissant was flaky and the strawberry matcha was sweet. Many people are inside working on their laptops, so I grabbed it to go. The line was long because there's only one cash register with a friendly staff. They did forget my order by accident, but quickly made it when they realized eventually.

250+ visits here have earned G&C an ironclad reputation with me and a permanent place in my heart. Drip coffee is truly excellent, cortado consistently great, iced lattes, cold brew, espresso tonic - I've tried everything multiple times and you simply cannot go wrong. I've worked in coffee for years, roasting and serving, and this place is my go-to. The food is also great, especially the vegan breakfast sandwiches and the weekend pastries.

Cute coffee shop that is also pet friendly! Very chill ambiance and friendly staff that gets drinks out quickly. I got the honey chai which is good if you prefer a sweeter more subdued chai flavor. I'll definitely come back to try one of their coffees next time.

Would this be a nice spot if a group of 5 elderly women to enjoy a Friday casual lunch?

Would not recommend it for a sit down lunch- more of a grab and go coffee spot. The food takes a while too- I think they only have 1 cook at a time. Takes a while to get the drinks too.

Besides a gluten-free bagel, are there more options for gluten-free?

We offer gluten-free brioche bread, rosemary garlic ciabatta and bagels.

What is in the honeycomb drink and the Mayan drink?

Not sure about the honeycomb, I believe it might be a honey vanilla latte? The Mayan is their version of the Mocha and it is FANTASTIC!

What is in the James Brown drink?

It is a two-shot latte with brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. We also have a wide variety of non dairy milks to make it with as well!

Is the avocado toast vegan? I noticed it's not listed under Veg on the menu.

    Yup.

    No. All day.

    No, it's a coffee house..

Even though the place was buzzing with energy and clearly a local favorite, the team handled the weekend crowd seamlessly. The staff was incredibly attentive, welcoming, and fast, making the entire experience feel smooth from start to finish. Since there were five of us, we ordered a variety of dishes to share family-style, which turned out to be the best decision. The absolute star of the table was the pancakes--they are truly outstanding! They nailed both the texture and the flavor: golden on the outside, insanely fluffy on the inside, and rich without feeling overly heavy. The waffles were equally delicious, holding a fantastic crisp on the edges while remaining light in the center. To top it all off, the drink selection was top-tier. Whether you get their specialty coffees or refreshing iced beverages, or even hot tea. Every drink was crafted with care and tasted wonderful alongside the sweet and savory brunch items. We sat at a table by the front window facing the main drag. The area definitely has an old town feel with many restaurants and shops up and down the street. There is also a park right across the street. There is plenty of parking around the corner on the street and in a nearby lot. I started out with the Coughlin's Law cocktail (Aviation gin, house infused vanilla syrup, fresh lemon, egg white, lavender bitters, $16). It was a good light drink with light vanilla and lemon flavor. I always love a good foam top too. She started out with a Basil Paloma (Herradura silver tequila, muddled basil & grapefruit, fresh grapefruit juice, lime, simple syrup, seltzer, $15). It had good grapefruit and basil flavor, and was nicely balanced. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower appetizer ($14). The cauliflower was supposed to be grilled, but it seemed almost raw. The buffalo sauce definitely had a good kick. For my entrée, I had the Black Angus Basin Burger (manchego cheese, carmelized onions, arugula, special sauce, brioche bun, $19). The burger was excellent. The cheese, carmelized onions, and arugula was a great flavor combo. The fries were good, but I'd order them more crispy next time. She had the two taco plate with fish and potato tacos ($15). The taco shells were freshly fried, and it was a filling plate that she enjoyed. We had one more round of drinks and I had the Billionaire cocktail (Old Forrester 100 proof bourbon, lemon, house made grenadine, absinthe, $16). This was excellent. It was very balanced, and not boozy at all with a very light sweetness. Her second was the Smoke and Fire (Peloton de la Muerte mezcal, Ancho Reyes liqueur, muddled jalapeno & orange, fresh lime, agave, chili salt, $15). It was pretty well balanced with a medium smokiness. It definitely had a kick of heat on the finish. Our server Lakyn was friendly and provided good service. The menu prices are cash prices. There is an extra 3.5% surcharge if you pay with a credit card. The buffalo cauliflower appetizer was mostly a miss, but everything else was very good so I'm rounding up to five stars. They have a very good sized cocktail and food menu, as well as many beers on tap. They also have happy hour specials. We would definitely return if we were in the area again.
