Yellow rice, orange chicken Cajun veggies
    Duane S.

Came to see a movie in a Manchester Ct and stopped at Cajun Cafe and grill. The workers were friendly and service was quick. And I don't usually eat this type of food due to a past bad experience. But this place has amazing food. So if your in the area stop by and try this.

One of the few original places at Buckland with original owners, they've been there for 22 years. Awesome food at a great price. I recommend the rice, potatoes, orange chicken and spicy bourbon chicken. Owners are very friendly and they even give out free samples if you ask.

    Orange Chicken with Yellow Rice

One of the better places in the food court to grab food at Buckland Hills Mall. The people behind the counter are friendly and have been here since the beginning. They have the same handful of offerings every day which I think allows for the quality of the food to be average and not horrible. There is consistency. Basically, you have your choice of small, medium or large boxes (always get to-go as they put a ton of food in each one instead of a plate). Rice or noodles (and the rice is pretty good...palatable, not dry and almost like a fried rice...almost) You can get roasted potatoes, Bourbon Chicken, Orange Chicken, BBQ spareribs. Those are the choices. A small to-go box and a Snapple ran me around $8. Orange Chicken is pretty good. Bourbon Chicken is the favorite among guests and pretty decent.

Typical mall food court fare. It's passable, but that's about all. And there's nothing Cajun about this food at all.

This may be, perhaps, the best Happy Hour I have ever seen anywhere. It's EVERY DAY from 3:30-6. The food item options are huge (20-25) plus three dessert choices. There's are also seven quality mixed drinks, three beers and seven wines! OMG! The bartender recognized me! I haven't been here since January 2025 (1 1/3 years ago). She is even knew where I sat! The menu is unchanged except for a few minor things. For my first drink, I'm having the Max Manhattan made with Old Overholt Rye, Cinzano Sweet Vermouth, orange bitters and orange twist. This has a nice garnish and tastes great! For my first food item, I'm getting a Caesar Salad made with romaine lettuce, garlic croutons and Parmesan cheese. The smell of cheese is quite strong! It's a good portion. This tastes good! Crunchy croutons and tasty lettuce. For my next food item, I'm having a Salmon lettuce cup. Nice presentation! It's on a bed of ice and a lemon to sprinkle. This is quite good! Next up, I'm having a Cup of Clam Chowder. I believe these are house-made croutons. This came out quick! It's nice and hot! Tastes great! Well, with a little hot sauce that is...I like the classic music here. For my next drink, I'm having an Old Fashioned made with Old Forester Bourbon, simple syrup and Angostura bitters. Damn! Nice presentation (the Amarena cherry on the wooden stick) and a great tasting drink! The bartenders are good here! Very attentive! For my next food item, I'm having the Steamed Mussels made with soppressata, capers, shellfish stock, spring herb butter and Pernod butter. I love the focaccia! It is heavily buttered. The mussels are real good! For my next food item, I'm having the Scallops A La Plancha made with mustard spatzle, pea puree, asparagus and mushroom cream. This is good. It's heavy due to the pasta. It's like an entree. To wash this all down, I'm getting a bottle of Pellegrino sparking water. I like this stuff! For my next food item, I'm having four (Buck a Shuck) Cherrystone clams and four Oysters of the Day (only $1.95 each). These are good! I love the cocktail and vinaigrette sauces (with the crushed pink peppercorns). Sprinkle that lemon! For my next drink, I'm having a Happy Hemmy made with rum, grapefruit juice, lime and vanilla extract. What a great drink! Very unique taste! This has kick! For my food item, I'm having the "Baltimore Style" Shrimp Cocktail made with Old Bay Seasoning and stone ground mustard. OMG! The shrimp are big These are great! I love that mustard! For my next good item, I'm having the Blackened Fish Taco made with pineapple salsa and aji verde. I love it! This is easy to eat. For my last appetizer, I'm having the Happy Burger made with lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese. I miss this badly! This is delicious! It's a well-seasoned burger let me tell you! For dessert, I'm having the Creme Brulee. This is the cutest Creme brulee ever! On a Happy Hour menu?! This is a first anywhere! My favorite dessert! This is great! For my final drink, I'm having the Gin Gimlet made with Greylock Gin, simple syrup and lime juice. This is good! It's light so it's easy to drink at the end of my meal. That's 11 food items I ate and 4 mixed drinks. What a fantastic meal here!

The clam chowder was just as good, thick and loaded with flavor and ingredients in every bite. The grilled octopus with potatoes was a standout -- perfectly tender (not rubbery at all) and packed with flavor. Oysters were fresh, crisp, and just straight up delicious. For the main, the paella was -- rich, loaded with seafood (shrimp, scallops, calamari, mussels, clams), and cooked perfectly. Paired it with a light beer which helped cut through the richness and kept everything balanced. Service was on point and the ambiance made it a great overall experience. Definitely a spot I'd go back to.

They even have outdoor seating ( covered to allow shade) . The service is always great . Our server was very polite , attentive, asked about allergies , gave his suggestions , and constantly checked in on us to make sure we had everything . For started I got the firecracker shrimp , which had a sweet and tangy sauce which was delicious highly recommend ( I personally didn't think it was spicy but had great flavour ) For my entree I got the California chicken sandwich which was really good . Highly recommend and I got the side of truffle fries which had just the right amount of truffle ( since I personally don't like to much truffle ) Plenty of flavour . I also ordered the aperol spritz which was nice and light and refreshing . My friend ordered the filet which was cooked perfectly to what he wanted. Nice light seasoning with salt and pepper and juicy on the inside . Served with delicious mashed potatoes and green beans . The espresso martini he said was his second best he's ever tasted ! Which is a win . For dessert we. Tried the seven layer chocolate cake to go! Which heated up and with a scoop of ice cream was amazing very thick and rich in flavour which I loved. Situated in The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk, Burtons Grill offers a bar, a spacious dining room, a seasonal patio, and a space suited for large groups. My friends wanted to take me out for my birthday and asked where I'd like to go. I chose this spot because I'd heard so many good things about it. Since the weather was pleasant in October, we decided to sit outside. For starters, we shared a rustic bread roll served with pesto, herb, and garlic butter, and olive tapenade. In my opinion, the olive tapenade really stole the show, giving the bread a bold flavor. The bread itself was soft, warm, and utterly delicious. We also tried the signature wings coated in maple sriracha and the Memphis dry rub wings. Although I couldn't distinctly taste the maple or sriracha, the wings were still packed with flavor and perfectly seasoned. We also ordered the Spinach and Artichoke Dip, which was rich with spinach, artichoke hearts, parmesan, tomato-jalapeño relish, and served with tortilla chips. It was genuinely tasty. For my main course, I went with the Steak Frites, featuring a charred flatiron steak served with béarnaise sauce and Parmesan-truffle fries. The steak was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. The truffle fries were crispy and well-seasoned, and the truffle flavor really made them stand out. It was a simple yet satisfying dish. My friends chose the crispy fish sandwich, comprising fried haddock, pickled red onions, pickles, tartar sauce, all nestled in a brioche bun with a side of French fries. Another friend ordered the general Tso bowl, which included braised chicken glazed with general Tso sauce, along with charred broccoli, a rice-and-quinoa blend, julienned vegetables, toasted almonds, scallions, cilantro, sesame seeds, and ginger aioli. Both of them said their meals were fantastic. Our server was friendly, lively, and attentive throughout the meal. I definitely plan on returning to try more items from the menu.

And I must say the menu is definitely changed in the last couple years and the food was excellent. Not sure if this isn't under new ownership or management but everything has improved. I ended up ordering a salmon dish but I asked if I didn't get all the sugary glazes on it which they literally sauteed and seasoned the salmon perfectly with just vegetables I also let them know that it was gluten free due to celiac so they made sure that they limited cross-contamination. I did not try any of the drinks from the bar but the seltze water was nice and cold and sparkly. Lol. The band that they brought on was highly energetic, very entertaining and very friendly. I would definitely go back. I would love to try this place out in the summertime when everything is open and they're outdoor. Spaces are actually in use due to the fact that it was freezing out. Everybody stayed inside but overall the grounds are very beautiful. Staff was super friendly, very attentive.

Server was friendly and very casual. I asked for her recommendation and was told their grilled chicken sandwich was pretty good. Strange given they use to be really proud in their bbq, but trusted the server and got the west coast chicken sandwich and swapped the bun for a lettuce wrap. Also got the tumbleweeds with a side of spicy aoli to dip in. The food came out after a little bit of a wait, but not too long. Took pics and dug in. The tumbleweeds were cooked well but really lacked in any flavor beyond crispy breading. It really needed a dipping sauce to give it any real flavor. The spicy aoli had a little zip to it and helped though. The chicken was seasoned well but overcooked. The Swiss cheese didn't really add much so I scraped it off. Bacon wasn't crispy, was welded to the Swiss cheese so I just scraped it off with the cheese. The heirloom tomatoes and pickled red onions were very good. Lightly salted and sweet tomatoes and briny sweet onions really complimented the chicken and were welcome additions. Avocado was okay, fresh and presented well. The food wasn't bad, but it did have some stumbles. It's a great venue space, one of the few country bars in the state and is decked out well to be the primo spot for county. It's not a great restaurant, but it's serviceable food and a nice staff. If it can really sell the events and nail those, then the food can be simpler and still do well. For now though, it's okay.
