This one is so clean and kept in great shape. It is cool and comfortable inside. The cakes are just a wee bit sweet, so if you hate sweet, you might want to stick with their carrot cake. We love them all. Their chocolate cake is so good. You can get a piece or an entire cake and their prices are fair, they use the best ingredients. Their flourless chocolate cake is the best and not too sweet at all. We love their cookies. The service is ever so nice. You can order ahead and pick up or just walk in. It is never too crowded. When I came to LA, I knew I had to try SusieCakes. I got their vanilla celebration cake, chocolate cake, and flourless chocolate cake. The vanilla cake was pretty good - I liked how they use cream cheese frosting, as not many places do that. I do think that the cake itself was dry (perhaps because it was the size exposed to air). The chocolate cake slice was pretty good! It's one of the better chocolate cakes I've had, where both the cake and the frosting taste like chocolate. It was moist, as well, which was good. The flourless chocolate cake was decent - I liked their buttercream, but the texture of the cake itself seemed a little off. The bakery is adorable and there are so many cakes to look at. I was craving a slice of chocolate cake and checked Yelp for some options. I saw SusieCakes was around the corner and we headed over. I was hungry and my 1 slice turned into 3 plus a cookie and 2 cupcakes. It's a cute bakery that looks clean and inviting. The service was excellent! It's a little pricey, but you get good quality and nice sized slices. My wife loved the seasonal berry cake, but it was my least favorite slice. I loved the chocolate! It was rich, moist, and not too sweet. And we both enjoyed the carrot cake (it's pretty sweet though). We weren't as happy with the cupcakes, as they weren't nearly as moist as the slices. They were also VERY SWEET! Especially the lemon poppyseed. We got a snickerdoodle cookie as well, and it was pretty decent. I'd definitely go again as it was a for the chocolate cake. I just met the sweetest of sweethearts. I should have asked for her name. But she had a kind, soft voice and loose curly hair under her work scarf. I told her it was my first time and she explained what was offered. She suggested the marble cake which I got a slice of, and I also wanted to try the chocolate chip cookie. She even told me about the rewards program and waited so patiently while I signed up. I had been crying all day, because you know, life is life, and I usually get myself a sweet treat to help myself feel a little better, but meeting this sweetheart was the cherry on top. I just got home and took a bite of the chocolate chip cookie and my eyes lit up and I even smiled :) I can't wait to try the marble slice, but I'm definitely gonna have to come back here. I love Susie Cakes a LOT but i stopped coming here because i felt somewhat discriminated by the African American employees which i had never seen at this location before. The last time i stopped by the customer service was horrible since we walked in the store we felt unwelcome by the employees staring at us from head to toe and we felt ignored because we were standing and we were never asked if we needed help. The African American customers in front of us were being treated so nice and when it was our turn to order we were almost ignored because the cashier was about to help the person standing next to me and i had to tell her i was first in line and when we got to the register we were not even greeted by the employee. My little Leo B. turned five during spring break and requested I bring cupcakes and donuts to his classroom when school resumed the following week. I bargained him down to cupcakes and ordered three dozen mini cupcakes from SusieCakes, figuring these would be sufficient for 28 five-year-olds and their teachers. I called SusieCakes just before closing the day before I needed my order. The website says mini cupcakes should be ordered 24 hours in advance, but there's some wiggle room on that. The guy on the phone was gracious and helpful. I was off the phone in like two minutes, with my cupcakes ordered for next-day pick-up. I got two dozen chocolate and one dozen vanilla cupcakes, and altogether they cost $99. Pick-up was fast and easy, the cupcakes ready to go, and I appreciated that there was no opportunity to deliberate awkwardly over a tip line. At least the tiny cupcakes didn't cost $120. I didn't taste them, but I've had and liked SusieCakes goodies before, and the kids really enjoyed their treat. Their only complaint--and I heard it from more than one child, including my own--was that they were too small. Next time I guess I spend over $200 or do the wiser thing and hit a grocery store. In the meantime, I'm glad SusieCakes was there to meet my birthday boy's demands. He had a fun classroom party, and all his little friends got a (moderately sized) jolt of afternoon sugar. read more

I recently got the seasonal pumpkin maple cupcake for my free birthday treat, and OMG so yummy! The pumpkin cake was moist, with a delicate crumb, and not overwhelming spicy which I prefer. The maple frosting adds a lovely slightly caramel-y sweetness without being overpowering* (of note, I took off about 75% of the frosting as I do with nearly all store-bought baked goods I eat because it's too much sugar for me). I am so happy with my experience at Susie cakes! I ordered a birthday cake for a pick up a few days before my husband's birthday party. I was supposed to pick it up at 11am the day of his party this past Saturday. It was not until I arrived to the restaurant for his birthday dinner that I remembered about the cake! I panicked and called the store and they were able to have it rush delivered to the restaurant in Korea Town within 30 minutes! Words can't express how grateful I am for accommodating this last minute request which was entirely my fault. I spoke with Henry and he remained friendly and kind throughout the entire interaction. He never made me feel bad for forgetting to pick up the cake and instead completely calmed my nerves. I visited the La Brea location last week, the night before a thanksgiving party, I had the most excellent, kind, & friendly service! It truly was impressive. I ended up getting a cake & the sweet staff notified they could put "thankful" on the chocolate cake! The nice customer experience and friendly attitude from both the girl in the front and the guy in the back were so kind & it relieved my anxiety with finding a last minute treat for a party. The cake was delicious, as the cakes always are. The icing is absolutely my favorite icing in LA, I would literally buy little containers of just the chocolate icing lol! Just wanted to note how friendly, informative of storing the cake, and clean and kind the service was from the moment I walked in, I appreciated it! Gotten to the point that Susiecakes is like family especially as each time I come to order a cake it's been a snapshot of my medical journey and health recovery! Super accommodative with Henry helping me take the cake to the car as I have a walking cane, and Nick chatting with me as he preps the writing for the cake. The banana chocolate cake from last time to try if it were any other bakery is really good and worth going to the bakery alone, but carrot cake for me will always be #1 cause my mom loves it so much after my girlfriend in Singapore ordered it for my bday earlier this year to be delivered.
