We stopped in after dinner and picked up a slice of carrot cake along with a cherry and chocolate chip cookie. I originally only wanted a regular chocolate chip cookie, but the cherry ended up being awesome. The chocolate chip cookie itself is huge, chubby in the middle, and thin and crispy on the edges, which gives it that perfect mix of soft and crunchy. The carrot cake was dense and weighty in the best way, and the frosting was super light without feeling heavy. The balance between the two made it ridiculously good. I was honestly blown away by how great everything tasted. The place was empty when we arrived around 9 pm. The two workers were doing some light cleaning and tidying up, but they greeted us right away and were really nice. It looks like they offer coffee and tea too. We didn't get any this time, but I definitely would on a future visit. I'm excited to go back. Great treats, friendly staff, and a really pleasant stop at the end of the night. read more

This was probably my 5th visit to SLJ since they reopened post-pandemic. (I gave it many chances since it used to be so good way back when.) Tonight I picked up two desserts - a dry, dense, bland and very resistible triple berry cheesecake slice, and a slice of stale/hardened chocolate marble cake, nowhere close to being moist or tasting fresh. I didn't realize that SLJ actually serves food here and was pleasantly surprised to find sandwiches, wraps, soups, and salads on the menu. I've been here a few times and have always had amazing service from Jessica; she really does go above and beyond. In terms of food, the chicken avocado sandwich/wrap is very tasty and freshly made. I opted for a wrap for fewer calories and was still quite full. The salad was just okay, but it's just a basic salad, so it's fine. For their cakes, I really like the triple berry and recently discovered the chocolate triple berry cake! I think it's even better than the original triple berry, and would recommend it. The Beverly cake was too sweet for me and not something I would order again. The cafe is cute and modern, and the service is always friendly. Love that this SLJ is open till 1am! Love coming for a late night cappuccino & slice of cake. You can't go wrong with either the chocolate or white berry cakes! Ryan & Bobby have treated us a couple times, late-night on Saturday', like tonight , with a smile...even when it's 15 min to closing time sorry! I guess it's been over a year since I last came in, according to the timetable that my barista today gave me since the new renovation. However, I don't think so, it feels like I've just been there just a few months ago maybe a year ago if I really had to push it. Anyway, came in this afternoon and had super, super sweet customer service by my barista Jess. Who made a really good flat white. And super sweet conversation as well with Steve the manager and Nathan. The new interior design is nice, but me personally I preferred and liked the old style. Just seemed more sweet, cozy and welcoming. I said it all the time, customer service to me is on the top of the list of what makes me return to a business. Let alone recommend them or write them good reviews. Today's interaction with these three employees definitely made me want to return. Checked out this spot for a little treat and it smelled and felt as good as it looks! By that I mean you can smell the sweet treats inside and even get to gander at the various pastries and/or cakes they have. I got a slice of chocolate and vanilla cake and they didn't disappoint! I would love to come back to order a cake for an event or something. Not sure about the food list but I uploaded the menu. May try brunch one time if I'm in the area but parking is kinda tough here. Service was great too! Cashier was super nice, attentive and even asked if I had any preferences for a cake slice I'd like to try but I said surprise me! DO NOT BUY HERE. I placed a late-night delivery order and received a days-old Triple Berry cake slice with moldy berries and a cake that was literally falling apart. Absolutely unacceptable. We went back and asked for the manager, but he conveniently wasn't there. We brought the slice in so they could see the condition for themselves, and while the staff did offer to replace it, what was concerning was how normal this seemed to them. They immediately grabbed another cake from the back and cut into it like this happens all the time. While waiting, we also noticed a $90 cake sitting on display with cracked frosting and molding raspberries. At that point, it became clear this wasn't an isolated issue. Since the change in ownership, this place has seriously gone downhill. The shop may look cute, but the quality of the products is terrible. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

The chocolate cupcake was sooooo delicious. When I refrigerated it and let it thaw before eating, it was like a fresh cupcake. Moist and tasty. Loved it. But it took me a couple of days to each it because it's a heavy sweet, as western pastries tend to be. This encouraged me to come back and try a different flavor, the red velvet. I never write reviews, but I had to express my disappointment regarding a recent purchase of the Triple Berry Cake. I have been a loyal customer of SLJ for over a decade and have always enjoyed your products; however, the slices I purchased on March 11 were unacceptable. The taste and texture were completely different from the quality I have come to expect; they were very heavy and dense, whereas they are normally light and airy. I initially suspected it was a gluten-free cake, but after checking your website, I noticed the icing did not match the gluten-free description. Furthermore, the appearance of the cake I received did not match the photos of the Triple Berry Cake shown online. I had highly recommended your bakery to a colleague, but unfortunately, the quality was so poor that we both had to throw our portions away.  I will not be recommending and making any more purchase from SLJ's! read more
