Accidentally took a wrong turn leaving New York City on our way to Philly and found this amazing little restaurant. I was immediately happy about their BYOB policy as I had been picking up beer throughout my east coast road trip. I ordered the veal meatloaf with mashed potatoes and summer vegetables. It was tender and delicious. The veggies were slightly over cooked but they were fresh and well seasoned. We also had the daily special which was a grilles flank steak. Also cooked masterfully and seasoned to perfection. It seems that each dish is accompanied with a seasonal side in the form of a vegetable medley, salad, or sauce. We had a great meal last night at Caleb's. They're serious about their food - it's an imaginative seasonal menu, beautifully executed. Between us we had salad, soup, fish, beef and dessert and they were all delicious. It makes eating out worthwhile because they serve dishes you won't find at other restaurants and you wouldn't make at home. The service was excellent. Highly recommended all round. read more

We went there with a toddler, not that I recommend this for a toddler, but it worked. The food was delicious, we got the specials of the day for our main course, the brisket and the lobster risotto, both delicious. Lobster risotto was delicious , had more seafood than the risotto and the taste was so well balanced. The brisket came with delusions sides of latkes and Kogel. Next time in town we are stopping by for sure. read more

An absolutely fantastic BYOB! It's rare when you have that meal where there were no weak links, no course that was not spectacular. This is that kind of place. I was there a few weeks back and reliving the meal writing this review has been fun. The first course was a spectacular carrot, ginger soup, cooked with coconut milk with just the right heat and zing and toasted coconut on top. We then had an amazing tuna poke dish with nuts and crisp waffle chips. The tuna was fresh and not overpowered by the accompanying cruch of the nuts and chips. Finally, the entries were spectacular. We had the short rib on a bed of collard greens cooked with pork belly. The collard greens were worth the price of admission alone, and the short rib was tender, and the flavor almost overpowering. We had a hard time deciding but went with the shrimp and grits with pork belly as our other entre. Best choice of the night. Shimp was spicy and cooked to perfection and paired so well with the cheesy grits. The pork belly was almost too much but still amazing. Paired with our own wine this was one of my favorite meals I could remember. Staff was prompt, gracious and made excellent selections. A fantastic meal all the way around! read more

Really cute little restaurant right by peddlers village. We were able to get in with no wait and eat inside (before the new round of shutdowns). I got an omelette which was huge. I suggest getting the chicken apple sausage. So delicious. My boyfriend got a breakfast sandwich and loved it. The fresh orange juice was a great addition to our meal. Prices are extremely reasonable for the quality and freshness of the food. This is a great place to go for breakfast before a day of adventures. read more

I took my college aged daughters to spend the day at Peddlers Village to shop and have lunch. My youngest daughter had gone to elementary school with Caleb's daughter, Chloe so she wanted to eat here. I have to say it was a great choice. I had the Crabby Lizzy sandwich which came with delicious seasoned potato chips. It was perfection! My girls really enjoyed their meals as well. The service was great. I will definitely be back to try out their dinner menu. read more

We dined here as a party of 5, last week (December 2020). We really enjoyed it. Very nice atmosphere--clean/modern. Waiter was very good. For years we had driven past this place and thought it looked more formal that what we were typically looking for after a day at Peddlers Village, but we were pleasantly surprised that it was not as formal as we had anticipated, but still very nice, and not super casual. Everyone was very happy with their dinners. I cannot remember what everyone got, but one person got steak, another person got ribs, and I got crab cakes. The portion sizes were very generous (3 crab cakes for about $27). The presentations were all really nice, and with the crab cakes, for instance there was a really interesting slaw that kind of also seemed like a salad, also a very generous serving size. We were too full for dessert, but the dessert menu was appealing. Look forward to returning again! read more

I always heard amazing things about Caleb's and pass it daily but I never got a chance to dine there until recently. I only went for breakfast but now I'm dying to go for dinner! I got the banana nutella pancakes and they were so good! Extremely filling too, I only ate about half. My friend got two sunny side eggs with fruit and bacon, and she said it was really good! I have come to Caleb's on a few occasions and am never disappointed. The menu is fresh ideas and everything is tasty with really nice size portions. The ambiance is bright and clean and although the place holds a lot of people your not on top of each other! Two items I have enjoyed were the Frittata and the vegan pickled pastrami. read more

We stopped at this restaurant to eat lunch and had a very poor experience. I had my 93 year old father and it was very difficult to get him in as he is handicapped. When we walked in the restaurant and there was not handicap parking or a ramp. I made a comment to the owner that it would be helpful if he had a ramp at the entrance of the restaurant. He proceeded with a terrible attitude and said to me is there anything else I would like changed. He sat there in silence trying to pick a verbal fight, which I did not engage with him. After about 60 seconds he said that he would not serve us. So at that point he made me very upset, so I exchanged a few explicative's and told him we would never come back again, as we live in the area. First of all he violated the " Americans for disability act" and is just plain rude. I would not recommend anyone going here. This day and age this level of intolerance should not be excused. read more

Superb! BYOB restaurant with a clean, modern vibe. Came here for a birthday and we were very impressed. The menu had a lot of enticing options, especially for seafood lovers. For appetizers we ordered lobster rolls, crab and lobster chowder, poke (raw tuna served with waffled potato chips), short rib grilled cheese, and fish tacos. All were delicious and a large size for one person, probably a little small to split. Entrees were also great. I had shrimp and scallop gnocchi in lobster sauce, which most of the table agreed was the most decadent, if not the best, dish ordered that night. The salmon was a super close second - great grilled flavor, and cooked slightly rare (they asked how we wanted it cooked) so it was really moist. Crab cakes, lamb shank, and chicken dishes were also highly recommended by those that tasted them. Service was also top notch - waitress was friendly, attentive, and close by to open wine bottles throughout the meal. At the end of our meal the chef stopped by to make sure everything was to our liking, and brought out banana nutella liquor to end the meal. It's always nice to see the chef making rounds throughout the evening, checking in at each table. Highly recommend, and would definitely go back again! read more

We had reservations for Mother's Day and arrived on time but our table was not ready. The hostess was very snarky and when we asked if they had a liquor she very meanly said "do you have $5,000?" There were three empty tables but she said we could not have them and instead made the table she said was reserved was occupied so she made the people leave because according to her they had been there long enough. While most things were just ok two in our party had the grilled cabbage which was served cold and mostly undercooked grilled. They have a juice where you can go and make your own drink but no ice for the drink. Will not go back. read more

Took forever for waitress to acknowledge us. Took F O R E V E R for the food to come out. They ran out of an ingredient, so my husband had to order something else. My food came out with a different side than in the menu description with no comment. It was supposed to come with homemade chips and pickled green beans. It came with French fries and *literally* 1 and a half green beans. A single green bean and a half of a green bean. I'm not joking. Food was delivered like that is normal? Enjoyed ur V-day dinner at this quaint, but modern BYOB in Lahaska. Caleb's has been around for a while now which speaks to its good service and tasty food. It has a modern, New-Hope feel to the place, even though it's been a landmark here in Lahaska for quite some time. Parking is a little tight and oddly is available on both sides of the restaurant, but either way, you'll be greeted affably by the Maitre'd who I presume is Caleb himself judging from his command of the room, congeniality with many diners, and overall confident yet relaxed demeanor. We had a table for four for a Valentine's Day dinner, so I am unsure of how representative the whole experience was in some ways, however, there were a good number of highs and a few kinks that keeps Caleb's from being 5 stars. First off, it's rather tight in here, and again, perhaps this was a V day thing, but one really has to maneuver to reach one's table which adds to a moderate-to-high, yet refined noise level. Diners here are definitely well attired and it's a slightly upscale dining establishment. The linens and flowers were a nice touch on each table, although the silverware felt Amazon basic. That could use an upgrade. Our server was pleasant and attentive despite being stretched a touch thin. Our tables were a bit misaligned which led to a comical water-spill mishap; I'm not sure why that stands out, but it does! The V-day menu consisted of three courses. For the app I chose their Harvest salad which was a little light. Basically, mixed greens, a touch of goat cheese, but a nice, bright, likely house-made dressing. The entrees were a real star. It felt as though a billion people were ordering the lobster stuffed with shrimp and scallops, although I opted for the vegan mushroom stroganoff with sweet-potato pasta in an oat-milk reduction. It was delicious. You might be scratching your head with the name, but the waitress sold it to me and I was very pleased. I even scarfed down some of my better half's portion, since she said it was a little too salé for her. I definitely heaped down some water afterwards. Dessert was a pleasantly done chocolate heart filled with toffee, shortbread, and a chocolate mousse which was the star of that part of the meal. Four friends met here for breakfast early on a weekday. Calebs is a modest sized establishment located off a busy highway outside of New Hope. The atmosphere is a bit spartan, but clean, naturally lighted, and spacious. We were warmly greeted at the host station and guided to our table. Our server was not especially personable, but attentive, and efficient throughout our stay. In addition to the usual breakfast fare Calebs offers a delightful, innovative menu consisting of fresh ingredients, not the same ol', same ol' prepackaged and reheated items found at most breakfast establishments. When one of us requested a box to take what was left of breakfast home, our server removed the plate, took it back to the kitchen, and returned with the box carefully placed in a nice bag. Oh Caleb, yes!! The eve of The Grand Illumination was our first visit. Perhaps the most crowded night in the area when they were only seating those with reservations which we didn't have, and I highly recommend. Caleb, the owner and former chef at New Hope's creole restaurant Marsha Brown's made sure to fit our party of 6 in without an issue. We greatly appreciated the accommodations especially with cold, hungry littles in tow. The space which was once home to Waterlilies is oh so lovely. Candlelit and super cozy! Lots of windows and clean, modern decor and table settings. Some interesting art in the lobby and placed all around also. Fresh warm insanely delicious bread with rosemary and oil and carafes of chilled water were brought immediately by our very kind and friendly waiter. $7 Kids meals of grilled cheese and fries were ordered as well as their harvest salad which contains ingredients that change daily. Mini crab tacos with avocado purée, chicken and vegan "corned beef" I just HAD to try... I'm so glad I did. It was so delish!!! It was comprised of seitan cooked to absolute perfection. Not too chewy. Not too tough. Had enough of a bite to give it a "meaty" consistency without being a turnoff. Texture is a huge deal with seitan and they hit a home run here. It was flavored with soy and colored with beets, but it did not have a "dirty" taste. I was highly impressed with this plate which came with succotash and sweet potato mash. Everyone enjoyed their meals very much! I can't wait to come back and see what I'll taste next as their menu does change a bit with the season! I'm also excited to bring a bottle next time as it's BYO! They always have plant-based option and if they're anything like the one on this initial visit, I'm pretty sure I found a new favorite in these parts! I honestly have no reason not to give Caleb's a 5 star. From service to creativity, to taste and how they ever so kindly squeezed us in on a crazy busy evening, it was a pleasure all around! Enjoyed a delicious lunch today with my hubby. I had the quiche with a side salad and he had the CAK signature burger with fries. The quiche was luscious and flavorful, with melt in your mouth texture. The salad had watermelon radish (which I adore) and delicately sliced pickled cucumbers which made it uniquely better than the typical side salad. The burger was a winning combination of ground short ribs and brisket. It was tender and flavorful. One of the best burgers the hubs has ever had. The fries were perfectly crisp and appropriately hot. Service was good. Contemporary decor is clean and inviting. Beautiful view of the Lahaska area from our seat by the window. Will definitely return to try the breakfast and dinner offerings. Good eats here!! read more
