As soon as we had walked in, the server Bobby, had told us that we will not be able to get a table even though there were many open tables. We then had told him that we would wait for a table and he had given us a dirty look as if he didn't want us there. We then had sat down as he asked us right away what we wanted as if we have the whole menu memorized. We later then had placed our order. The food was good, as we had then been pressured by Bobby to order dessert when we hadn't even looked at the menu. I had then told one of the waitress that it had been my brothers birthday and she had said she can see what she can do as Bobby had came from behind and told her in front of us that they can't do it. There had been another couple next to us that had told Bobby that it was their birthday as he had offered a dessert to them and not us. After reading reviews I wasn't sure what to expect, however, we were extremely happy with this experience. Love flavorful food and that's what we got this evening. Cauliflower Fritters: beautifully prepared not greasy Lamb Vindaloo: spicy, flavorful,- would get again and would order Kiefer with this next time. Pani Puri Poppers: what a wonderful surprise with some amazing flavors - we chose the ones with potatoes but they come with a chicken filling as well. Made my reservation using the Yelp app, was very easy to do. Was greeted at the door with a cheerful good evening, confirmed reservation and sat at our table. It kind of reminds me of a speakeasy because the outside does not match the inside, the front of the restaurant is very unassuming but when you step in it's quite a unique little restaurant with a beautiful bar. First of all they have two of my favorite beers on tap Stella Artois and Guinness, I went with the Guinness and my wife went with a sauvignon blanc from New Zealand. We started with the citrus salad and the cauliflower fritters and for the main course Beef Short Ribs, Rendang Chicken a side of rice and topped it off with the upside down orange cake with vanilla ice cream. I can go into detail on each item that we ordered but that would make this review way too long I'll just say wow wow wow, they all had their own different flavors yet blended well together. All the food that we had was top notch. We had pani puri, garlic kulcha, chicken wings, Cali sticky wings, chicken tikka, butter chicken pot pie, eggplant lasagna with garlic and chives naan. We completed the evening with a chai tiramisu. That was a lot of food, but we wanted to try it all. Unfortunately there was no more room to try more . Walk through those doors and you find yourself transported into a chic, bright, yet moody atmosphere that matches the elevated Indian cuisine served there. The service was great and we wanted for nothing. We began our meal with the pani puri poppers. Crisp, delicate puri filled with vegetables and chicken with three different sauces to pour inside. It was fun, exciting, and delicious. A family style dining experience allowed my party of 5 to try several dishes-- the lamb biryani, butter chicken pot pie, lobster coconut curry, the salmon, and the sea bass. Each dish exceptional in their own way. Traditional Indian flavors with a unique twist that made you ask yourself, "is this the first time I've truly HAD Indian food??" Desserts were beautiful, well balanced and a perfect way to end the perfect meal. I don't have a single bad thing to say. Simply amazing quality and quantity. Portions were great, prices were more than reasonable. It's not often you find a restaurant of this caliber-- run by a Michelin star chef nonetheless-- to be so reasonable, yet exquisite. Service needs to be a little more professional, they ran out glass container for the dessert thus served in plastic container was very unprofessional, for the price of the dishes the staff needs to be in uniform couldn't distinguish guests from the staff , the place needs some cleaning. Overall, the experience was positive but the dinner did come with it's issues: - Food: Better than good but I feel the restaurant's tagline "inauthentic Indian" is a bit of a misnomer considering many styles were attempts on traditional cuisine. Sure, there's no butter chicken pot pie in India, but overall the flavors were all very traditional and fell a bit flat. Moreover, we ordered garlic naan (which came with three very small pieces), and other than the butter chicken, the dishes didn't have much sauce to scoop up, which is the best part. We also ordered the pani puri, cauliflower fritters, lobster moilee, and a few other dishes - Service: Friendly but a bit scattered. We ordered a bottle of wine and were delivered the wrong one and same with the biryani. They offered to replace both but we ended up keeping the chicken biryani due to time. - Price: Seemed a bit steep for what you get but I think that's everywhere these days. - Atmosphere: We sat outside and there were heat lamps. I had a pretty bad experience here due to the restaurant not being 100% forthcoming about their Valentine's Day menu. I booked a reservation via OpenTable and not once did it specify, like many other restaurants did, that they were having a special menu for the holiday. When we arrived we asked if we could have a few minutes to decide if we'd like to stay after looking at the condensed menu, the waitress acted like a salesperson asking us every chance she got, if we'd like to put in the appetizer that was on the menu. When we did decided to go elsewhere, the manager came over and rudely asked if we wanted to leave, we said yes, and he just walked away.
