Bolivian Salteñas are by far the juiciest! Have you tried them yet? Cali Pie Guy takes the traditional meat pies up a few notches. Their unique flavors are bursting with the essence of Bolivia and its culture. They hand select and hand ground all their own meat, carefully measure their spices and they are oven baked at the Brea Farmers Market. I tried... Spicy Beef - not your classic beef Saltena. Slowly simmered in a special blend of spices but with an extra kick of chili pepper. Potatoes, carmelized onions, and a thick beef sauce. Regular Beef - without the chili pepper Flavors: Spicy Beef, Beef, Spicy Chicken, Chicken, and Vegan. Their spicy Vegan is available October - February. These meat pies have a crispy dough. Very juicy and flavorful! They do come out of the oven piping hot so be careful when taking your first bite Stop by their booth and pick up a few! You'll thank me later. These Bolivian Meat Pies, also known as Saltenas are juicy and succulent. However, at about $5 a piece, the price is pretty steep, even by today's standards. They are about the size of a mini cocktail croissant if that puts it into perspective. Spicy Beef and Spicy beef are my favorite, but they also have the regular beef and chicken that are also good. The service is great, and the food is made on site. Also, it's just a dude and his red tent, so can't say much about the ambiance. Anyway, just try it out and see if you think it's worth the price.

Tasty pasties. We usually order the regular chicken and regular beef because the spicy versions are a bit too spicy for us. The chicken and beef look the same, except for a splash of orange color on the chicken. Ask for a loyalty card! They stamp the card once per visit. A fresh salteña contains hot liquid. To eat it safely and cleanly, hold it upright and bite off the tip. Pour the juice into the cardboard tray in which the salteña is served. Then drink the juice from the tray and continue eating.

Saltena Corner was at the Long Beach Vegan Fest and this vendor was at the top of my hit list. They were serving Bolivian Vegan Meat Pies filled with jackfruit, potatoes, caramelized onions, and mushrooms. How was I supposed to resist this!?! http://bit.ly/2JjPC0V From dough to filling, every part about this was super delicious. Be careful biting into it though...they serve it piping hot! A little pricier than I would like it to be. I spent $10 for two empanadas. Yikes! It's totally possible that those were festival prices though. Regardless, I would totally track them down at their other locations to eat them again. So yummy :)

When the guy who works this stand told us that the saltena was going to be juicy, he was not lying! I thought it was going to be juicy like juicy fried chicken or something, but it was more juicy than dumplings - and oh so good. This stand comes out to the Irvine Farmer's Market every Saturday. Service is friendly and really fast, so it's a good place for some quick eats. The amount of filling is ridiculously high it is really flavorful. Not quite sure what else was in that filling because I finished it so fast! Temperature was also just right, which made it very easy to wolf down! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/saltena-corner-anaheim-5?select=HSo7U35edQVvwrYgAbsa7g&userid=97Dj5h5CQUsWZrEWj3wWOg

I finally tracked them down! That's a lie. I was planning on going to their Sat Farmer's market stall based on their Instagram at some point. But, I usually go to the farmer's market at the Laguna Hills Mall parking lot on Fridays. Last Friday they were there without me even breaking a sweat! Woo! Now I don't have to make the effort of going to another farmer's market just to get something from them. I got six - 2 spicy beef, 2 spicy chicken, and 2 regular chicken. I got $1 off for getting six and a punchcard (free salteña after you buy ten). You also get a free one if you buy a dozen. Do your math accordingly. I was about to buy a dozen frozen but thought I should buy fresh first to taste test. Well, they're awesome so I'm getting a dozen next time! Eff my low carb diet! How do they compare to La Rancherita or Bebas? They seem a tad smaller though I have yet to do a side by side comparison, they offer spicy, which isn't typical, they taste a bit healthier since they don't use lard, it's not as juicy. and is more convenient for me. It's $2.50 each which isn't tooooo bad. However because they are kinda small I can eat 2-3 in a sitting. How to eat it properly - eat these babies vertically, making sure to stop intermittently to slurp the juice and bite down a bit more, slurp juice, etc. If you can do this without any juice dripping out, you may be an authentic Bolivian! PS They have vegan salteñas, which doesn't typically exist in Bolivia or in LA, so vegans rejoice! PPS One bite may take you back to Bolivia. Two bites may make you want to stay there.

Amazeballs. Order enough for the whole family! Just be aware that a large order can take time to make. Order early in your farmers market visit, check out other stalls, and come back to get your food when it's piping hot! I can't go back to regular empanadas anymore. They just don't measure up to these saltenas!

We love their chips and salsa. The complementary chips were very fresh, and both the red and green salsas have a medium heat level. We also always enjoy their grade size margaritas. They are not boozy, but definitely pack a punch. I usually have the mango-habanero margarita ordered extra-spicy, but I felt like trying something new, so I tried the Tamarindo Margarita (El Jimador 100% Blue Agave, Ancho Reyes Chili Liqueur, Squirt, tamarindo, fresh lime, grande size $27). It was good, but was a little on the sweet side, and I barely got any heat. I'll go back to my mango-habanero next time. She had their limited time pineapple-poblano margarita (grande size $27). This was an off-menu special offering. It was excellent, with a great mix of fresh pineapple and a light heat and pepper flavor from the poblano. It was perfectly balanced and the sweetness was very light. I was jealous and wish I had ordered this also. We happened to visit on Thursday night which is fajita night. The deal starts at only $20 for veggie fajitas, with various proteins available for an additional cost. I had the steak fajitas ($27), and she had the achiote grilled chicken breast fajitas ($22). The meal starts with a big Mexican Caesar salad. It was very good, with the perfect amount of dressing, it was very filling. The picture doesn't do it justice, it is a large salad. The proteins arrive sizzling hot in a cast iron skillet. Our dishes had a generous amount of steak and chicken on top of a bed of peppers and onions. I got flour tortillas and she got corn. It's nice that they give you four warm tortillas wrapped in a cloth napkin. Most places usually only give you three. The standard meal comes with beans and rice but we both opted for all rice. The rice was barely warm, but we were already pretty stuffed so we barely touched it. Our server Nicole was great. She was very friendly and provided great service. My girlfriend only had a few bites of her salad and wanted to take the rest home. When they delivered our two fajita orders, spread across eight plates, they inadvertently took her salad away. Nicole made it right and brought her a full salad in a to-go box and bag. Excellent service! They often run a summer promotion where purchasing $100 in gift cards includes two additional $20 bonus gift cards. Hopefully this deal will come again soon. We will continue to dine at Cha Cha's frequently.

We had a 1:00 PM reservation and were told after checking in that the wait would only be 20-30 minutes. We ended up waiting about 40 minutes and were then seated at a tiny table for six people with the sun directly hitting us the entire time. Our waitress greeted us with only one menu and said she didn't have any more. We asked about bottomless mimosas and she responded, "I don't know, I saw one person doing it but I don't think so." How does a server not know whether the restaurant offers bottomless mimosas? We ordered drinks almost immediately after being seated, but they didn't arrive until 2:10 PM. It is over an hour later , while tables seated after us already had theirs. The food service was even worse: 2:09 PM: only 1 out of 6 meals arrived No silverware or napkins were provided We had to ask another server, who placed loose forks and knives directly on the table and said he only had 3 napkins 2:30 pm only 2 more plates came out Another plate arrived later by 2:33pm while 2 people still had no food at all By the time my food arrived, the waffle was dry and stiff, and the "chicken and waffles" looked like one chicken strip cut into four tiny pieces. And was $22. My son's burger came out much later, and my husband's food didn't arrive until 2:50 PM which was another $22 dry chicken and waffle plate. At that point we asked for the manager because our entire Mother's Day brunch had been spent waiting while everyone ate separately. The manager seemed completely unconcerned and said someone would handle it only after my mom asked what was he planning on doing besides apologizing as we were still missing a plate. Meanwhile, our waitress barely checked on us unless we flagged her down ourselves. No refills, no silverware, no urgency, and constant "your food is coming in two seconds" excuses. The food itself was disappointing too. Chicken and waffle Portions were tiny, flavors were off, and even the horchata colada tasted nothing like horchata. This was actually our second bad experience here. We previously came for Taco Tuesday and experienced similar disorganization, but decided to give the restaurant another chance. Huge mistake. Parking is terrible, the waiting area is overcrowded, and the restaurant felt completely unprepared and understaffed for a holiday they should have planned for. But we were sitting waiting for a drink. I heard other waitresses freaking out telling people Dont Give Out lunch menus sad that they can't even handle brunch. Honestly, you're better off going somewhere like The Broken Yolk Cafe if you want decent brunch service and to actually enjoy your meal together. Sad that a place trying to present itself as high-end. If you're gonna boast about being the first rooftop in Rancho, your service and your food and your drinks better be good. Completely ruined our Mother's Day. We will never return! The 20% off a $220 bill was paid right back at the waitress tip which, if my family hadn't paid, I would've gave her nothing. Isn't your waitress supposed to see your table that one person has food for half an hour shouldn't she go back and ask shouldn't your waitress see if you have your drinks within 40 minutes shouldn't your waitress know what you serve there shouldn't your waitress check on her tables completely ridiculous. A single rose does not make up for horrible service. I included pictures with time stamps
