We heard from a neighbor about the all you could eat crab legs and decided to check it out because my husband has been craving them. They start you with a delicious loaf of warm bread and butter, which is always a plus for me. I ordered the spinish salad. It was a basic salad, but hit the spot for me. Plus, their ranch dressing was delicious which is super important to me. :) I ordered my one year old daughter a cheeseburger from the kids menu. I figured it would be a typical gross hamburger that you normally see on kids menus, especially since it was only $3.75. It turned out to be a full sized, yummy cheeseburger and fries. Great deal! My hubby fulfilled his craving of the crab legs. He said they were pretty meaty and good. The staff was really pleasant as well. Although the food was good, our service was absolutely unacceptable. We had to wave our server down every time we needed something and even when we were trying to pay! Nice local spot. Food is GREAT! The pizza is delicious... I recommend the thin crust with ricotta, sausage, mushrooms & onions. I can't explain how AMAZING that combination is! I never tho't I'd like ricotta on pizza but... yeah... its pretty great. And I'm literally on the verge of PROPOSING to the Eggplant Parmesan!!! OMG... so... good.... The Eggplant is literally SWIMMING in this delicious sea of melted cheese that is nice and crusty over the edges of the bowl... O M G.... no words can describe the absolute mouth watering deliciousness.... Anyway, please give this place a try. It can be a bit loud in the evenings and weekends because the ceiling is very high. The cocina special pizza was decent, I like to go for the thin crust and their thin crispy crust hit the spot. The buffalo chicken wrap was sub-par, a little soggy and lacking much the flavor punch I expect from buffalo chicken. Atmosphere is typical pizza place, with a couple sports channels on tv. Over the summer we've ordered from Caliendos's 9 different times trying to keep our money local .And out of the 9 times we ordered all were delivery to the tune of 60$ average each time .And although they were consistent it was a consistent that we Did NOT want!!!And out of the 9 different orders they left out 2 different appetizers and 7 different sandwiches ????each time we called them and reminded them of the last orders in which they redelivered what they left out and when I talked to the Mgr after every screw up all he said was is sorry, never a ,it won't happen again or hey let us buy you a dinner for all of your trouble or we're going thru new people never any thing to try and make anything better what a crappy way to run a business!!!!!!Its to bad they don't have negative ratings because we would have been all over that read more

This could be a great little neighborhood place, but it sadly falls short. Every time I end up here, the service has much to be desired and the food is mediocre, at best. It seems like there is an inane amount of grease on everything. We are talking straight up mystery grease collecting on the plate. Gross. I hear rave reviews about the pizza, but once again, greasy as heck. Just not for me. What's probably the most sad is that I've heard people say this place has such "amazing" and "authentic" Italian food. This is our fast and local go-to joint for dinner when we need to eat and don't feel like cooking. Food is pretty good.. But the prices have gone crazy. They have un-bundled soup/salad with their dinners.. now it's an extra $3 for a cup of soup or a salad. Almost $20 for a 12 inch Cucina Special Pizza?? WTF? Monday night and dining room was empty. We ordered pasta and chicken Parmesan. The marinara sauce must have come directly from the can and battered chicken was rubber. Went here for dinner last night. Ot was relatively quiet with just anout seven people at the bar and two other small tables. There appeared to be about five different waitresses working but you would have never known bc the service was atrocious. Our waitress named Jazmine was visibly tired or annoyed to be at work. She never came to our table to check on us. So much so that we wpuld have to gwt up to walk to the kitchen to see where she was. She got the soups out and mine was wrong but she never came back for me to tell her before our main food had come out. She still charged us for that btw. Almost flawless My husband and I stopped in Saturday night for the St. Patty's day special (Corned Beef and Cabbage) and to check out the place for a future gathering of friends and family. We were not disappointed! The server was pleasant and for the most part always around and refilling our soft drink and coffee. He kept tabs on our appetizer time and checked in with us. My only two critiques of the server was that he did not ask if we needed anything when the food was delivered and a few times my coffee cup was empty for a period of time before I flagged him down for a refill. He was better at refilling my husbands water and soft drink. The Corned Beef and Cabbage was a massive platter. The corned beef was delicious. You didn't need a knife to cut it. The potatoes, carrots and cabbage were good. The side salad before the meal would have been better if it were served on a rimmed place or less lettuce. My salad was falling off the plate. Additionally, the salad would be better if the lettuce were romain or mixed/ I had the blue cheese dressing, however it's taste was lost on the iceburg lettuce. My husband ordered a pizza and it was delicious. Another server even whispered in my husbands ear that all pizza's were 1/2 half off on Sunday evening. Go to Know. I found this place because I was following a Latin band on FB and they were finally out this way so I decided to go. Much to my suprise, this quaint little town has this pizza 'joint' that is a gem in this suburb. I have been there many times since and every time have enjoyed myself both with the staff and the delish food. GREAT THIN PIZZA. Went there a couple weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon, only to find out that after 4pm, pizza is 1/2 price. HOMERUN RIGHT THERE. I give it 3 stars for "ok." I came here on a Wednesday night and sat in the bar area. I wasn't at the bar, but a table in the bar. It was pretty busy for a wednesday, but not offensive. it was a nice crowd. Service was decent. My salad came, then 3 mins later the pizza came which is never a positive. The server was attentive with my double talls, so that's what really counts. The antipasto salad was excellent. I got a medium thin crust pizza with 2 toppings. The menu said it serves 3-4 people, but as a 6-3 male just a little north of 200lbs i ate the entire thing by myself (except for 1 piece). The pizza was about $15, so that's reasonable. The pizza was good. I don't agree about "the best pizza in dupage" but it was good. they're on restaurant dot com, which is a huge plus. read more

I've been coming here for years. It's a nice place to meet up with co-workers after a long day. The staff is friendly and the price of their drinks is fair. Overall a friendly pub. Also, the restaurant area is great. The lunch and dinner specials are phenomenal. I kinda feel like I'm in Cheers where everybody knows your name, the bartenders and staff are all super friendly, pizza and wings are excellent, good drink specials too. The food at Caliendo's is good, "old school" Italian-American fare. It's great for the price, and the service is usally ok. The last time we had a really snotty waitress that seemed annoyed that my 3 year old dared to say hi to her. I'll chalk it up to she was having a bad day - but my tip reflected her attitude. The owner is a really nice, friendly guy though. My biggest complaint: we were having dinner at 7:00 on a Saturday night and the Juke box for the bar was right on the other side of the wall. SOmebody kept putting in 90's metal songs and it was louder than hell. Everyone in the dining room was looking at each other like "surely they'll turn that down." But they never did. Monster jam after monster jam, and no relief. Really soured the experience. And made me hesitent to go back, at least after 6:00. Not to mention numerous reports of violence centered around their bar. And we're a pretty peaceful town normally. My advice, definitely eat there, but eat early. Or get it to go. My daughter and I will walk down there for lunch or dinner on occasion, and she LOVES it. They bring out dough for the kids to play with, and are always very accommodating in terms of making sure she has plenty of paper for coloring. The wait staff is very friendly, too. It makes this restaurant one of her favorite places to go! The food is primarily pub grub, but it's tasty. Their appetizer sampler platter is MASSIVE; it's almost enough for 6 or more people. I highly recommend their loaded fries and potato skins. Their burgers are pretty basic, but tasty, and their Italian beefs and sausages are wonderful. We're not big pizza people, so I haven't tried it, but my friends adore it. The bar side of the restaurant is fun at night. While week nights can be a little slow, weekends are a good time. The bartenders are fantastic, and there's always great people watching. All in all - highly recommend! read more

The last time I ordered was about 2 weeks ago and for being 5 minutes away, half of my order was cold and I let it go. Mistakes happen right? Recovering from surgery I offered my care takers dinner and ordered what was my favorite pizza, salads and two bowls of soup. I made it very clear the order was to go to a different address. It went to my old address and they accepted it. I called Caliendos and wasn't spoken to with humility but anger that someone else had accepted my order. I was basicly told it was my fault. "Meet me half way and pay for half". No Im sorry but this was very clear and I was made to feel stupid. He accepted partial responsibility but after always going to lunch there and always speaking so highly of Caliendos to be talked to that way? I have other choices. My wife and I drive about 35 minutes to go here for Crablegs on Saturdays. All of the servers we've encountered have been great and some recognize us and say hi which is great. We've learned to try and make reservations but most of the time we crave it last minute and might have to wait 10 minutes or so. We've sat in the bar area a few times and do not suggest it if you want to relax and enjoy your food in peace. They show multiple games on the tvs so the bar area is great if you want to grab good food and watch the game! read more

Best pizza in town!! Pizza review: Pan pizza/deep dish= ninja turtle pizza. It's not traditional crispy side crust pan pizza. Caliendos pan pizza is giant sized regular pizza. One piece on a normal day is good, two only when I'm starving. Whenever we order pan pizza, we have food for days. Generous amounts of cheese, and plays well with the toppings we've tried. Regular pizza: pretty damn good. I've tried a few of the specialty pizzas but always go back to bacon and green pepper. Real cheese with excellent crust. Not super thin, but not artificially puffed up like the chain stores. Dense yet doughy. Eat in: this is one of our favorite places to visit. All you can eat crab in Saturday's! They bring it out to you. I've had enough of those buffets where people lurk around until the small amount of crab legs comes out. Caliendos avoids this by generously offering more as you eat. It's always an excellent treat when we go on saturdays. Dine in room is somewhat small, but they have great speedy service and we've never had to wait for a table, even when it's busy. Servers always know their stuff (had some good conversations with the pizza take out guys too). Bar area: haven't visited this side yet but seems great. People look like they are having fun and atmosphere is great. Love what Winfield has to offer. Pasta: ahhhhhh so good. Gnocchi, seafood, jack of all trades place. Had a sausage pizza from here last night, dine in, and it was disappointing. It wasn't very flavorful - tasted like there were no spices in it - and the sausage was very sparse. There were 4 pieces in the middle that had NO sausage on them at all! Will not be going back, at least not for pizza. read more

The short: 4 stars for desserts ... -1 star for delivery/take out (since they have been here, there is always a problem) -1 star for food (Eggplant parm, ravioli, the cheese and the sauce are all inedible) -1 star for owners go f yourself policy (apparently he makes no mistakes on relies on 20 year old recipes to try and carry him) Italian fare is the easiest thing to get right. Fresh ingredients and some love will garner A+ results EVERY TIME .....why do some get it so wrong?? Clearly there is no chef on staff, just inept cooks and a flaccid owner. The long: We frequented this place when it was the Winfield house. Shortly after they moved across the tracks, we started noticing problems with service and food quality. Our past experience includes getting our order wrong twice, and after 3 hours, we just wanted a credit and no more attempts at food. I know one time was pizzas for a poker party, which I then had to order from somewhere else...but last night takes the cake: My fiancee and I decided to give them another shot. At 8:30pm we ordered Eggplant parmigiana and Linguini with bacon and scallops, which my fiancee substituted gnocchi and white cream sauce. So when she went to pick up, hers was ready, and mine was not even ordered yet. After waiting another 15 minutes to get mine, she came home to find the bacon and scallops had red sauce. While she was calling to get them to deliver what she ordered, I looked at the scallops. They looked dry and stringy ...perhaps frozen. I tasted one, and it was dry and stringy ....not plump, caramelized and juicy. She then changed the order to ravioli and meatballs. At 10pm, we called to see where the ravioli and meatballs were ....no apologies ...no nothing. When they finally arrived, the sauce was overcooked and the sauce at the bottom of the pot had burnt, and was stirred back into the rest of the sauce. Here is the conclusion: Ravioli - Burnt, inedible sauce, pasta overcooked and filling/sauce was a salt bomb. Scallops - lol ....if you cannot get fresh, and cook them properly TAKE EM OFF THE MENU! If you do not know how to do any of that, then hire someone that does! Eggplant parm - Inedible salt-bomb cheese, and a lot of it. The 4"x4"x1" brick of parm was a soggy mess that you could not tell where the eggplant starts and the breading ends. No flavor, just a mushy mess that I threw 75% of it away. This place relies on locals that drink and smoke everywhere. I cannot imagine anyone coming here for the food, unless they do not know what this food is SUPPOSED to taste like. Oh ...and when I called to ask for my money back, I politely provided all details,then, the owner told me to stuff it, after he said that he'd been serving the same crappy eggplant for 20 years. Came here for dinner before visiting a loved one at the hospital across the street. We sat on the restaurant side and had a great experience. The menu has a lot of options, food tasted delicious, and atmosphere was pleasant. I will say our server was a little uncomfortable at times almost gave off an attitude but he overall was great with service. This places reminds me of another place with similar menu and layout that's in a town about 30 ministers away. I will return again and hopefully soon! read more

I was really hoping this place woumd be better as it is in a nice area on my commute from work and looks like it has a lot of potential. The positives are a great bartender, she's sweet and efficient. The beer is cold. The regulars seem very nice, and we conversed about the Bears and a broken hot tub. Then there's the food, at least my first impression. The menu has some nice diversity. Burgers, pizza, sandwiches, and entrees, mostly with an Italian flair. There are wraps and salads as well. I ordered one of my all time favorites, Sausage and Peppers. It came in a ceramic skillet, you know, the handle on the sides and about an inch deep. Well, it was filled three quarters of the way with oil. Not even seasoned oil, just warm olive oil poured over everything. I stuck my finger un amd it was exactly three quarters of an inch deep. No gravy, no sauce, just oil. I asked the bartender if that's normal and she said it was and offered to pour the oil out. Trying to be a good sport I agreed, and she was back with the dish in a minute. The sausage was actually good, and in generous amounts. The peppers were completely flavorless, cooked to absolute mush, and there were maybe 3 slices of them. The rest was soggy, oil dripping potatoes. The bread was good, but I ended up to grossed out to finish. I'm sure I'll give them another chance some day, but right now I'm regretting being a good sport. read more

Some of this place deserves 5 stars and some deserves 1. The food itself once you get it is good not great. Good enough to go back though. The service is amateur ish but ok I guess. They make tons of mistakes in the kitchen and that's a big problem. Pizza is their thing and it's pretty good most of the time. Pasta too but never consistent and prone to mistakes being made by the kitchen. The soups are great. The stuffed artichoke is awesome. The. At area is great but there are some regulars there that make the place uncomfortable for the rest of the people that come in for one or two. Order food for delivery and get ready to wait a long time and deal with a place that you would guess never delivered a pizza once in their life. This is one of my favorite pizza places in the area, and has been for years. If I was basing my review on their pizza alone, it would for sure be 5 stars, but there's some gaping holes in their overall service, and they never seem to try to fix them. The wait staff always seems to be trying to do five things at once, which doesn't bode well for the amount of attention they give the customers. The biggest problem for me though is their bar. I had to stop ordering mix drinks here because they almost never get them right. In addition, the bar is always super backed up. I'm usually here around dinner time, and I know to order another beer well before I'm finished with my first one, if I want a second one with my dinner. Overall, I know I can't come here if I'm in a hurry, but that's not enough to keep me from coming back. The food has never disappointed. read more

I work in Wheaton, and very close to downtown Winfield. I'm not a fan of driving all the way to downtown Wheaton plus having to find parking, so Winfield is a great lunch time spot. Someone recommended their salads here, so I finally made it in, after almost a year. My co worker and I stopped in last week for lunch before the noon hour (11:30-ish). We had no problem finding parking in the back, and plenty of seating, even when we left, this place wasn't jammed packed for the lunchtime rush. The service was great, our waitress had our water refills constant, and we enjoyed the food too. The food is decent and the prices are reasonable. They also have daily specials. I'm on a low carb diet but I did eyeball a caprese salad and added steak to it, it was a decent size and filling. I was pleased coming here and look forward to visiting again sometime for lunch. read more

A few years ago, I would have given 5 stars. Lately though, the food seems to have taken a dive. Burgers are not as good as they used to be and neither are any of the pasta dishes I've ordered. Our last visit was a huge disappointment since I drove out from Elgin for burgers, and they were overcooked, with soggy buns and very skimpy on the bacon.
