Tried one of the newer lobster menu items this time. Lobster roll small but tasty; bread toasted nicely and the melted butter to drizzle over it was nice. Their clam chowder is hearty, not too thick, delicious! The cajun shrimp taco had a kick even without the sauce.. The fried fish was just ok. Avocado and something more acidic would have helped. Salmon taco was pretty good, loved the dynamite sauce. Avoided the cilantro and tomatoes with all the parasite fear going on right now. The tortillas are a little thick, but flavorful. The menu has so many options- most of what we've tried has been quality fish and tasty. The staff is ALWAYS very kind, efficient and helpful! read more

I ordered fish from California Fish Grill for lunch, and what I received did not resemble fish at all. The entrée looked like grilled chicken placed on top of rice, and the presentation was careless and rushed. The Caesar salad was another disappointment. the salad itself looked dry, unevenly chopped, and thrown into the container without any care. Even with dressing provided separately, a Caesar salad should still look fresh and properly prepared. I expect accuracy, freshness, and basic attention to detail. Unfortunately, this experience missed the mark on all of those. I hope the team improves their accuracy, presentation, and overall quality control, because this visit did not reflect the standard this restaurant claims to uphold. read more

I used to go to California Fish Grill all the time especially the one in Gardena. I recently visited the Lakewood location and I really enjoyed the kiosk ordering. There was a line, but it helped move things along smoothly. Kiosk were very simple and easy to use. The bathrooms and restaurant dining area were very clean and the workers seem to be very busy keeping it that way. I ordered the salmon bowl and they were very generous with their servings, and it was loaded with flavor The workers ask you if you want salsa. I remember they used to have an area where you self serve, but they don't do that anymore. You have to ask for lemon and salsa at this location. The food is generally good and a healthy fast food option. Prices are reasonable! read more

I simply had to post this review because the service provided by Marilyn was absolutely fantastic! Of course, the food and amenities is good by default--healthy eats is hard to come by reasonably in this economy--the portions are perfect, the seafood always tastes fresh and is seasoned well. However, the cherry on top was the top notch efficiency, accomodations, and communication provided by Marilyn. Furthermore, they were on time despite the size of the order (see the receipt to show how big the order was). First time at the California Fish Grill location, and probably will not be my last! Inside was spacious and busy in the later afternoon. The line moved quickly, orders are taken at a kiosk. There was a worker standing nearby to help if needed, which was nice. The kiosk was easy to navigate, and their menu is pretty expansive with different fish options, as well as shrimp and even lobster! They even have chicken options for the non seafood lovers. I chose the Cajun shrimp taco combo with a side of zucchini and tomato/feta, which also came with a drink, which I felt was a great deal! The shrimps were nice and plump, and I loved the fresh veggies and pickled onions on the tacos. They even offered complimentary sauces, lemons, and cilantro! Will definitely be back to try their other options, possibly the lobster nachos heh! read more

Went here for dinner last night. I got shrimp tacos and a swai taco. They were both awesome. Got the shrimp in corn and flour, preferred the flour. Also got a side of Brussels sprouts that were very tasty! My wife got a plate with rice and corn, was very fresh and light. It's a nice setup inside a mini strip mall setting. I always make a point to stop at California Fish Grill whenever I'm near one--unfortunately, we don't have any in Oregon! This evening, I had the pleasure of being helped by Tay and Amaya, and they were genuinely some of the sweetest, most attentive employees I've ever encountered. One of the drink options wasn't working, and even though it was close to closing time, they happily took the time to get it fixed so we could have the drinks we were hoping for. That level of customer service is so rare these days that I felt compelled to leave a review. Like a lot of places they do the tablet order and pay, then deliver the food to table. While I prefer the personal interaction the service was good, the place was clean and it was packed. We each ordered the white fish, salmon grill combo and added shrimp. Plate comes with garlic sauce and rice. Great value and excellent fish. I ordered Atlantic caught rockfish. Rock fish is not a fishy fish, but mine was so fishy and if a rock fish is fishy, that means it's not fresh. I'm very disappointed with fish grill. They probably can't sell it so they keep it for many many days. I will never eat there again. And it was $23. It is not cheap. Go to another place that is more reputable. Never have had a bad fish here. We come here every time we are in town and will continue the tradition. Fish quality and taste are always spot on. I placed an order on Uber eats today , I order from here all the time as its a healthy dinner option for a chef like me when I dont want to cook after a long day. I spent over $100 for 2 meals. See attached photo.!! My branzino fish on both Plates were spoiled. Smelly and nasty fish taste. I've never had this experience here. But im really sad that our dinner was ruined.
