Grill asparagus and breaded shrimp taco
    Mark C.

This location forces you to use their touch screen menu system to make orders. What I found initially confusing is that their physical menu doesn't even show all their options; only their website and touch screen menu actually lists everything they have. What's nice is that the customer service is stellar as they come out and help with ordering (which still proves that in-person ordering should always be an option). I tried out their breaded shrimp taco, sea salt mango juice, and grilled asparagus. The grilled asparagus cost more than the taco and it was only a few pieces of it. It was quite tough to eat and was definitely the worst grilled asparagus I've eaten at a restaurant. The shrimp taco itself was pretty small and average tasting. Sea salt does not go well with mango but they had some unique fountain drink options that you don't see anywhere else that sported a tasty root beer brand I've never had before. Although the customer service was quite friendly, the quality of the food didn't match the prices you had to pay.

    Fish and Cajun shrimp tacos.

I was attending the Mesa No Kings rally, and a woman was in the crowd, handing out coupons for a free taco, and inviting everyone to use their restroom. I thought that was extremely generous of a local business, so I went for lunch. Yes, the food is pricey, but it's also fresh and nicely prepared. I had a fish taco and a Cajun shrimp taco, both very tasty. Service was professional and super friendly. I will happily support this business.

We stopped by the spot after a quick run into Walmart the other night, and I was pleasantly surprised with my experience and my food. First, the restaurant is tucked away in the parking lot of a really busy Walmart, but there's plenty of parking. Restaurant is also pretty large and well lit inside. When we went in, there weren't that many people Eating in, but several tables are occupied with people waiting for takeout orders or DoorDash. We ordered the fish and chips and each got a couple of different slides, including the feta cheese and tomatoes and the Greek fries. I am a big fish and chip fan so I am pretty critical about the preparation and one of the main things I look for is a crispy solid breading. They definitely have that And the fish portion size are fairly large. I ordered an extra one and I actually could've stopped at two. The sides were just as favorable and well prepared. Overall, this is definitely a go to place for fish and chips when I'm in the area.

Fish was over cooking and not fresh. Rice and sweet potato fries were good. Overall ok. Classics Package

Fish was over cooked and not fresh. Rice and sweet potato fries were good. Classic package meal Ambiance was clean but crowded and hard to hear for your order.

You can always get a delicious, healthy meal here at a super reasonable price. I discovered swai here. I had never had it before, but ordered a combo with swai, and now I'm sold. There are kiosks at the counter to make your order, but there is someone there to help. They will call your name when your food is ready, but they also take your phone number to text, just in case you don't hear them. No I got my swai with cauliflower rice ($2.99 upcharge) and sliced tomatoes and feta. Hubby got the same as me, one son got the tilapia with fries and beans, and my other son got the shrimp Greek salad. Was trying to keep the calories low--160 calories for the fish, 65 for the cajun sauce, 90 for the cauliflower rice, and, believe it or not, the highest calorie item was the sliced tomatoes (5 slices) drizzled with olive oil topped with feta crumbles--it was a whopping 260 calories! There is wine and beer available, and chicken on the menu for those who don't like fish.

I remember trying California Fish Grill years ago. So I was excited to see a location open up here in Mesa and had to give it another go. The setup is casual and fast. You order from a tablet, wait for your name to be called, and grab your meal when it's ready. I went with the grilled swai topped with garlic butter, brown rice, and upgraded to the Brussels sprouts. Everything was light and flavorful. The Brussels sprouts stole the show, crispy, tangy, and perfectly cooked. I highly recommend them! What I really love about CFG is the variety. If you're a seafood lover, this place gives you real options. Fried, grilled, or seared fish? Check. Cajun or garlic butter or both? Absolutely. Prefer your fish as a sandwich or taco? They've got that too. It's such a refreshing change from the usual fish-and-chips spots around Mesa. Sometimes you just want something lighter but still full of flavor, and this place delivers exactly that.

Absolutely fabulous food, my salad was delicious and soup was incredible! Fast quick, delish food for a good price!

Pitiful serving of friend calamari! SMH
    Renee D.

I frequent this establishment quite often and most times don't have an issue with my order. There have been a few times where they have forgotten to add avocado or the quantity was very scant. And this time put the icing on the cake. I ordered my normal avocado bowl with shrimp and added a side of fried calamari. I was hesitant because of the price almost $9. I got it anyway because I have been wanting some calamari. Yall when I tell you this order was ridiculous, they ought to be ashamed. I got 8 freaking pieces!!! I'm so pissed off! This right here will make me not want to come back because how are you gonna charge $9 for this pitiful serving?? Do better CFG. And it was over cooked and salty. I'm so disappointed!

I'm looking for great fish ( no chips). Is this the place? Too much breading on sparse fish portions isn't acceptable. Is that the norm here?

They don't bread the fish unless you want it breaded.

Is the calamari served with a dipping sauce?

Yes - you can get cocktail sauce or many yummy options from their "flavor bar"!

The quality really stands out--especially the homemade tortillas, which take everything to the next level. The al pastor and carne asada are both incredible, packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. I also love that the al pastor is cooked authentically on a spit, which really adds to the flavor and experience. There's also a great variety of options on the menu, so there's something for everyone. Service is consistently quick, even when it's busy, which makes it a great spot whether you're grabbing a quick meal or sitting down to enjoy your food. Their Taco Tuesday deal is also a huge win--great value without sacrificing quality, and it keeps us coming back regularly. And the salsa deserves its own shoutout--absolutely incredible! It's packed with flavor and honestly good enough that you could enjoy it on its own. It really takes everything to the next level. If you're looking for authentic-style tacos with great flavor, fresh ingredients, fast service, and awesome specials, Tacos Tijuana is a must-visit. Easily one of my top spots in the area!

Sometimes the best meals happen because your original plan falls through. That was exactly the case…read morehere, and honestly... I'm not even a little mad about it. I ordered the veggie tacos with roasted sweet potatoes (skin on, which was absolutely the right call), pepitas, feta, and all the right toppings. Whoever prepped those sweet potatoes deserves a raise because they were cut into the perfect sized pieces. Every bite had a little sweetness, a little crunch, a little saltiness... it just worked. My dining partner ordered the barbacoa tacos, and I didn't even have to ask if they were good. The involuntary "Mmm..." after the first bite answered that question. Four tacos disappeared in record time, followed by, "I could've eaten two more." That's about as glowing of a review as you're going to get. Now let's talk about these tortillas. Handmade. Corn. Tortillas. Are you kidding me? They're the kind of tortillas that had me question every tortilla I've ever eaten. Soft, fresh, and somehow they manage to steal the spotlight even with everything else on the plate being so good. The chips and guacamole were excellent, too. The chips have to be made in-house and they disappeared at an alarming rate. The salsa that came with them had this smoky, fire-roasted, chipotle flavor that kept me reaching for another chip... and then another... and then suddenly I realized I'd eaten way more chips than I intended. The bottled table salsas deserve their own paragraph because they completely confused me... in the best way. They bring three to the table... a green, a red, and a darker red. I kept tasting them individually thinking, "Okay, these are alright." Then I started mixing them. Game over. On their own, each one was solid. Mixed together? That was the magic. I don't know if that's what they intended or if I accidentally stumbled onto the perfect combination, but from that point on, every taco got the salsa trio treatment. The only tiny hiccup was when we first walked in. We were greeted, asked if we wanted menus, and sat ourselves. We waited for a bit thinking someone would come take our order, only to realize it's actually counter service. Once we figured that out, everything was smooth sailing. Not a big deal at all... just something first-time visitors might want to know. Follow the sign "order here" I also loved the layout. You can actually watch them making the food, which somehow makes the wait even harder because everything smells incredible. Two tacos ended up being the perfect light meal for me. Could I have eaten ten? Absolutely. Those two statements can both be true. Meanwhile, my dining partner polished off four barbacoa tacos and was talking about ordering two more. We only ended up here because another place happened to be closed, and honestly, I'm glad it worked out that way. This ended up being one of those meals we keep talked about on the drive home. Oh and the bathrooms?. I walked in and immediately thought, "Whoa... this is a cool bathroom" The lighting had this pinkish-purple glow that made me feel like I'd accidentally wandered into a trendy lounge instead of a taco shop. I honestly wasn't even sure there was regular lighting in there and I didn't look... because the vibe seemed so intentional. Finally, the music. .. upbeat, dance-worthy, the kind that had me bouncing in my seat while waiting for my food. Between the atmosphere, the lighting, and the music, the whole place had me want to hang out a little longer. Zero regrets. I'll absolutely be back... and next time I'm ordering more tacos.

First of all, eating anywhere in Tempe, starts with a frustrating time.... Trying to find parking and having to pay to park. I don't understand why restaurants don't have parking for customers. Idk maybe I don't know where to look. Second, it's hot AF in here. I feel sorry for the guys cooking. It's 105 today and the restaurant is so small, it's probably impossible to keep cool during the summer. Finally, the food. It all tastes very fresh! NO SEED OILS is amazing. I feel like I have won something when I find a restaurant that uses olive oil and beef tallow to cook in. Best corn tortillas I have had for sure. We basically tried one of each taco. (Although some of the tacos we ordered were wrong, so we just kept adding) not a big deal, because they were delicious and we loved them. I felt like the carne was chewy but my husband loves chewier meat. The taco with the marlin was my favorite. And the one that came out kind of like a cheese crisp.
