Finally got to use the gift cards we received for Christmas and excited to finally try this place out. There were 4 of us in our party with 2 x $50 gift cards so we ordered more than usual and the greeter Antonio was super helpful navigating the kiosk to make sure placing the orders and payment method was correct. When we brought the meals home we discovered that 3 sides were missing and we didn't want to go back but I did mention this issue when I received the feedback link from the website to grade the experience and its been one week since the event with no response from the place that they received the survey or any email/txt follow up from the management team. Overall the initial service was great and the items we ordered were ok but unfortunately the execution fell short on confirming the order was correct and we used up all of out gift cards so a return visit will not be in our future.

My new favorite spot! They use self-service kiosks which makes ordering super quick and easy, but there are still plenty of workers around to assist you and bring your food right to your table. The service is seamless. I was impressed by how many healthy seafood options they have, and the portions are massive, all for very reasonable prices. The interior is beautiful and modern with tons of seating, perfect if you want to stay and yap for a while. Highly recommend!

California Fish Grill is a chain of casual fish restaurants I have wanted to try this new location at El Paseo for a few months. This was a Uber Eats delivery order so I can't comment on the restaurant itself or the friendliness of the workers. I can only say the food was prepared and delivered very quickly. We got the salmon and swai combination BOGO. The salmon was pretty good especially with the garlic butter but the swai fish was slightly tough and flavorless. The sides were all quite good. We got rice, side salad (they forgot to include the salad dressing), zucchini, tomatoes, street corn, and the garlic bread. It was actually a lot of food and I have no complaints about the sides. Overall I think I'll be back but probably stick to the salmon.

I came here with a group of friends for dinner. I didn't realize this had opened up. I was excited to see that there were some chargers in front - but they apparently don't work? That's a different review, I guess. It was a weekday around 5:30 when we got there. It was packed - lots of groups and families. We waited in line for about 10 minutes to order (either at the kiosk or with a staff member) after grabbing an area to sit. I ended up ordering the grilled swai with corn, fries and sweet potato fries to share. One of my friends got the fish burger while two got the fish and chips and one had the shrimp bowl. People's order started coming out and looked delicious. I ordered ahead of my friend, but she got hers first. No problem - maybe the plate just needed more time. After another 10 minutes, I go check and they said they were waiting for my fries - but my plate was already out on the tray. I asked to take my plate and they said they'll bring my fries when they were out. A few minutes later, both sets of fries came out. My plate was yummy - the corn was great and the fish had a good flavor (cajun). I liked the fries, but think they could have been better. Everyone else liked their dishes as well. I was eyeing the tacos, so I will be back to try them out. Service was fine and the atmosphere was lively. It's a nice casual place to get some food with friends, family and/or a date - and while it was possible to have a conversation with my group, it did get loud at times. Prices were decent for the quality you get and quite a few varieties to choose from.

My first time here and we had a very good meal. You order through a Self service kiosk, but there's plenty of friendly employees who were there to help us with questions and guide us through the order. We had the chicken bowl and the tuna bowl. Both were hearty, healthy and flavorful. Big props to the employees who were very attentive and proactive. The manager told me they now have 67 (don't do it!!) locations after their first location in Santa Ana and are aggressively opening new locations. Not surprised, they have a good formula worth repeating.

I Had a chance to try California Fish Grill, which had been on my radar for quite some time ever since it opened close by to us. The food here is simple but on the healthy side and very flavorful. We ended up trying the swai and salmon combo with rice and the zucchini veggies which was awesome. Both fish were grilled to perfection which i really loved. We got it with the teriyaki sauce which was really yummy and flavorful. Both hubby and I loved the meal and would definitely go back! The service here was fast and ambiance is casual - but worth a visit!

We tried this for lunch and were impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, how well kept up it was (true, it's new, but employees were still washing windows, etc), and the reasonable prices and generous quantities of food. It's a very pleasant place to eat and talk/catch up with friends. As far as the food. . .it's fine, but could be better. I'll attribute part of this to my having ordered rockfish (grilled) - the consistency and taste just doesn't seem great and people that don't care for fish wouldn't be converted by rockfish. My friend had the breaded rockfish and the breading just looked a little thick and caked on versus lighter and fluffier. Perhaps this was intentional, as the pictures of the more traditional fish and chips looks normal. I liked the look (but I didn't order it or taste it) of the clam chowder. I will say that the sides (kale slaw, white rice) were good and the seasoning was on-point. Meaning, for me, it was nicely and fairly lightly seasoned, which shows some restraint and wasn't a case where the philosophy is just to bombard you with strong overpowering flavors. That can be impressive for the first few bites, but it gets old. I was also pleased with the fact that everything was light, so I felt like I ate a big plate, but didn't feel like I was sluggish or going to enter a food coma. I would like to try this again and try a different fish besides rockfish. So we'll see - definitely worth a second shot and hoping I can raise the rating to 5 stars after trying more dishes.

Yummy My 98 year old mom wanted fish and chips after going to the bank. We looked up and saw California Fish Grill so we decided to walk over. Three of us ordered the same meal, 3 piece fish and chips plus mom wanted a Caesar Salad. The fish is very tasty and lots of it! Nice firm white fish, not sure what type of fish it was but it was deep fried in a crispy batter, which makes it super yummy! It was juicy and tender. The fries were very delicious as well. Seasoned and crispy! The Caesar Salad was delicious too! Lots of crispy lettuce and tasty dressing! The A.Y.C.D. (All You Can Drink) soda machine is fabulous! Lots Xu of yummy flavors! The service was quick and helpful! We sat outside in the fresh hot air and enjoyed the friendly environment of people passing by. Nice place we will be back!

Honey chicken bowl with ... Brown rice? That sure looks like white rice to me which they said they were out of, we were charged for brown

We decided to try this place, and it needs some improvement. While the food is kind of tasty, and is clearly made fresh, we had to wait due to them making one of our items incorrectly, which was great that they caught that, but... They were out of white rice. So we paid for the upcharge on brown rice ... And then received bowls with what looks and tastes like white rice. I decided to not argue about it, but I'm warning all y'all out there that they might be pulling a bait and switch. Or they are using the weakest and cheapest brown rice in the world.

Came around 4 o'clock, so there was not that many people in line. The dining area was clean and modern looking. Staff was friendly and engaging. The food came out fast. The deep fried rockfish over rice and veggies was really good. It was a little over fried but still good. The shrimp salad was also very good. The shrimp was fresh and cooked well. The salad greens were also very fresh on the dressing was tasty. Lastly, the Bronzino over rice was good. The complain I had was the fries. They were cold. Overall, it was a great experience. We will be coming back for future meals.

Stopped in for lunch and can confidently say it was decent. Not sure I'll be back, but it wasn't bad. Pros: Quick and efficient service Plenty of seating Clean (it's new) Staff working hard to get orders out Food was tasty and fresh, lots of healthy options Cons: Ordering system- wound up with an extra side salad on my order which I only discovered after I paid for it. The employee I mentioned it to said "yeah that happens sometimes" Noisy- it was pretty busy and inside was rather loud Not the best value

***USP: Fast casual chain restaurant with 100% sustainable seafood along with some chicken and veggie options. Prices seemed low but we realized the portion sizes are on par with the prices only after we got the food. ***Ambiance and Service : Self ordering kiosks in place. Order # called out once ready after which we find a table to dig in. ***Food : we got a few varieties of fish tacos and they were all delicious and loaded. The grilled chicken on the platter was beautifully cooked and soft inside. We got zucchini rosemary and beans as sides for the platter. The bean serving was less and they were lukewarm. The zucchini was very greasy. Chips and salsa side dish was reasonably ok as well, chips seemed fresh and the salsa had some zest.

California Fish Grill on El Paseo is now open! Located in the same plaza as REI / AMC. Parking is plentiful but can get crowded. The venue itself is airy with indoor and outdoor seating. Once you step inside, head to the 2 kiosks to place your order. You include your phone number in order to receive a text message once your food is ready. Staff were all friendly and helpful. I didn't realize until the end of our meal that there aren't any trash cans. Staff buss the tables, so you just leave your dishes at the table once you are done. Might be nice for them to consider having one trash can somewhere in case folks want to drop off small trash items. On to the food! Grilled Plate w/ Atlantic Salmon | $16.25 I ordered mine with grilled asparagus and kaleslaw as my 2 sides. The salmon itself was a bit thinner than I'd expected and was also dry. Perhaps they can consider grilling it a tad shorter so that the fish can stay moist. The kaleslaw was nice and crunchy, but could've used a brighter salad dressing or maybe some lemon. It was a little bland. The 5 stalks of grilled asparagus were tasty, with just 1 of the stalks being stringy and tougher to chew. Battered Fish and Shrimp | $13.50 Got these with a side of asparagus and fries. Everything fried was wonderful! Fries were crispy and the fish batter was delicious and didn't get soggy. The shrimp was also well cooked without being rubbery or overcooked. I would order this again. Parmesan Brussel Sprouts| $5.75 Slightly crispy outer leaves. Deliciously seasoned. They did a great job on this appetizer! Soft Drinks |$3.50 Lots of interesting flavors to choose from. My favorites were the acai berry, root beer, and cherry flavors. However, I did notice that the syrups seemed to run out over time. When I tried the pineapple soda, that one tasted like soda water. When I later got a refill for the acai soda, that one also straight up tasted like soda water. Would recommend staff checking the machine periodically to make sure there's enough syrup and that all is functioning correctly. Overall, I had a nice dining experience here. The restaurant has some small quality items to work out, so hopefully those will be ironed out soon. I'm glad there are a lot of healthy options here for those nights when we are too tired to cook! :)

Like more milk was added or something, not enough spices or flavors added in IMO. Ordering was easy, I felt rushed, but it was the waiting to hear my number that was difficult. Listening for the number in the dining area while the music was blasting was difficult, so it's better to wait by the truck. However, I recently learned they do taco tuesday deals! The deal is only for the al pastor chicken tacos and it was actually good! I did not have high expectations because I don't like chicken tacos, but El Halal Amigos know what they're doing. My boyfriend also tried the brisket taco and he said it was worth the $5. The only thing I didn't like were the salsas-- I thought it was okay. Salsas were on the watery side and it didn't have much flavor. Service was nice & timely. We sat outside and we had someone check on us a couple times. They also give free chips & salsa.
