I prefer this location over the location at the Main Street Julian. * Ample Parking * Inside and Outside seating * Outside pet friendly seating * The garden that you can stroll through * Same great tasting pies! Service is friendly. It has a homey feeling. Items that my family have tried and liked: * apple pie (choose flaky or crumb), I prefer crumb. - with ice cream Apple pie is not my go to pie. But when I tried my husband's pie at the other location I now must have to get a pie from Mom's or it wasn't a good trip to Julian. The apples are perfectly tender with just the right balance of sweetness and spice, cinnamon flavor just right without overpowering the natural apple flavor. The crumb topping is buttery, golden, and generously layered, adding a satisfying crunch in every bite. Paired with the flaky crust underneath, it's rich without being too heavy. The lies are phenomenal. DO NOT WASTE your Time with any other Julian Pies. This is the ONLY place to go for PIES!!! Service is impeccable and the ambiance is second to none! These are the Only pies to get while you're in Julian.
I really enjoy coming to Mom's Pie House -Wynola and I'm talking about the second location on Hwy 78 AWAY from Main Street Julian, CA. After our Eagle Mining Co., tour, we decided to drive to Main Street for lunch and dessert because it was only a 5 minute drive from there, but left because all the restaurants and dessert locations were packed!! We decided to drive to Mom's Pie House about a 12 minute drive but first we stopped at a local market to buy deli sandwiches, soft drinks and snacks to go on a picnic at Mom's Pie House because they have a nice outdoor garden with picnic tables. After we were done, we bought some of our favorite pies at Mom's Pie House: Apple pie a la mode with vanilla ice cream and crum top and the special of the day, Bumble Berry Apple. Avoid the large crowds and have a picnic at this location! Happy Yelping :)
*A True Julian Gem *delicious pies *cozy warm ambiance *outdoors sitting Mom's Pies is an absolute Julian classic, and with two locations -- one right in the heart of Julian and another in Wynola -- you really can't go wrong. I've visited both, and each one has its own charm and cozy vibes. The Wynola location completely captured my heart. It gives all the fall feels -- warm, inviting, and not as crazy busy as the downtown spot. The customer service was wonderful. Mason was super helpful, and the young ladies working there were so kind and welcoming. Both locations are adorable, but Wynola has that extra cozy outdoor seating that makes it the perfect place to enjoy a hot coffee, apple cider, and of course... cherry pie with ice cream. If you're in Julian or Wynola, this is a must-visit. A sweet little spot that always hits the spot!
What an amazing place!!!!!!! The pies are UNBELIEVABLE! I can't wait to go back and get more! They have different flavors and a few drinks as well.
Came during the off season which is honestly the time to go! No line, amazing pie, and great ambiance! Even has a little friendly kitty on the property. An abundance of parking as well! A win all around.
First time coming to this pie house and I'd have to say it is amazing. We got the Dutch apple pie and it was perfect. Flaky crust with sliced apples and topped with strussel. Not too sweet or too much cinnamon flavor. Really love it. Unfortunately they don't sell at grocery stores like other pie competitors but it's worth buying and bringing a whole pie home. They have cookies, honey and delicious coffee for sale. They even have their own swag for sale. Staff is super friendly and provided good service. Indoor ambiance was cozy. Restrooms for men and women are separate and only have one stall but it is well maintenance and very clean.
Julian is one of my favorite places. It feels like stepping back into a simpler time. It is a great day trip from San Diego, always something new to explore and wander. Mom's is one of those places you just have to visit. It is the quintessential dessert spot. Their pies are all homemade and some combinations are only found here. Their staff are very friendly. They have many options and the pie is excellent. The store is cute, small but not too small and it is warm and inviting but not busy with trinkets. If you are heading to Julian, I would definitely recommend stopping in! Really cool bonus - they have the same cookie jar my mom had on the counter growing up, a kitty holding a cookie....love it!!
This location is just outside of the town of Julian. Keep an eye out for their sign as it's easy to pass by if you're not prepared. Plenty of parking. Service was nice and pleasant. Outside in the back they have a very beautiful seating area. We enjoyed our slice of pie and the fresh cool air there. They also have a couple of restrooms if you need a bathroom break. We came in to try their apple pie and it was good. I kind of like the one at the other known pie place in the area, but everyone has different taste buds and preferences. Overall it was a nice stop, especially for their outside eating area.
Julian is a small town known for its pies and this places lives up to the expectation. Their apple pie is definitely a must try. The pie is not overly sweet and the crust is perfectly flaky. Make sure you get a scoop of their vanilla ice cream as well since it goes super well with the pie. If you live far from Julian like me, they do sell pre-baked pies that you can take home and bake it yourself. The cashiers were all very friendly and helpful, everyone seems like they are in a good spirit. Parking is very easy. There are plenty of lots, big and small, next to this place.
We stopped at this roadside stand for the MOST AMAZING APPLE PIE and cinnamon ice cream. If you're on your way to Julian...save yourself the hour long wait in line and stop at their second location! It's darling and just quaint as can be! We watched them make pies- so fun! And ate hot pie out of the oven!
Warm pie with ice cream while you enjoy it sitting outside in the sunshine in a garden...what more can you ask for? We came to Moms off Main Street because the line at the tiger location was out the door and down the sidewalk. It was insane. This location was on our way back home and had a lot of outdoor seating which was nice to give the kids some area to stretch their legs more. A must stop spot when in Julian.
Very impressed with Mom's Pie House. I'm not a big pie person, but making my way to Julian for the first time I know I had to try this place out. I was happy to come here on a Saturday about 30 minutes before close by the time I got in line. The line was out in the parking lot, but it went by pretty fast. I ordered an apple pie with a crumbly top, rhubarb strawberry pie with a flaky top, and a hot cider. The apple pie was the best one out of the pies we got. So delicious and with the vanilla ice cream was perfect. I wish I would've got some to take home! Luckily, even past 5pm when they closed, they still let us eat inside which I was very happy about. There was no rush to kick anyone out, but I do know they cut off the line at a certain point because it was so long. The interior of this place was very homey and very cute. I loved the heart chairs. Will definitely be coming back again hopefully sometime soon!

We stopped by Mom's Pie House after a weekend of camping nearby since it was on the way home, and of course we couldn't leave Julian without grabbing some pie. We settled on this location since we had a large group, and they had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The shop itself is super cute and I think their outdoor seating is where they really shine! Plenty of benches and tables outside for a picnic type vibe, and they have a small garden that you can stroll through. There was even a friendly resident cat when we came! I got a slice of bumbleberry pie but also tried my friend's apple pie and strawberry rhubarb pie, all with crumble crusts, and they were all good with the perfect crust texture. I also got a taste of my friend's cinnamon ice cream which was good and went well with the apple pie! Lastly, I ordered a pint of their apple cider which was refreshing and just the perfect amount of sweetness, although it was a bit on the pricier side. They also had other things for sale like dog bones, honey, and seeds. The place gave cozy rustic vibes for sure. Overall, a great option if you're looking to enjoy some pie and relax in their garden seating area. read more
I didn't realize that Mom's Pie House had multiple locations but if you're not interested in exploring Julian, this stop might be the better option! As far as I can tell, they have the same menu and the pies taste the same. We arrived pretty early in the morning and were the only group up until the end. Order at the front and pick-up towards the side when they call out your number. Dogs aren't allowed inside but there's a huge outdoor area in the back with a beautiful garden and tons of shade. They have a cat wandering around so make sure to keep dogs on leash! I ordered the Apple Crumb a'la mode, which comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The pie was crumbly and the apple filling was sweet and warm. Pairs perfectly with the cold vanilla ice cream! If ice cream isn't your go-to pie accompaniment, you can also get whipped cream. I also got to try the strawberry rhubarb and bumbleberry but those were a bit too tart for my liking. Great snack to start the day! Make sure to stop by if you're in the area and try the apple pies that make Julian so famous. read more
We had lunch in Julian and got some pies to go from one restaurant, but we wanted to have dessert at Mom's because it looked so inviting! I had a slice of cherry pie and a vanilla latte. Hubby had a bumbleberry pie with whipped cream. The name was odd but the taste was delicious! I actually liked his pie better than mine. I'll definitely have to return for a full pie. The latte was perfectly balanced with the milk and vanilla and was served at the right temperature. It was a charming restaurant and they sold souvenirs. This is not a complaint, but I would have liked to be served on actual dishes instead of paper. That's not a dealbreaker, though. read more

The perfect fall sweet treat! The apple filling was not too sweet, and the crumb in comparison to the regular pie crust adds the perfect texture. You obviously have to have pie a la mode, and getting vanilla allowed us to be able to still taste the apple flavor. read more

Visited Julian and decided to try the different pie places. This location is less crowded than the one in Julian itself and is a quaint pie house. The service was pleasant and there's plenty of seating inside and out. Outside has a lot of seating and it looks like they light it up at night. The pie itself was only okay for me. It wasn't bad by any means. It just wasn't anything spectacular. I only had a slice of apple (no ice cream) so maybe that would elevate things. They also have other flavors. Others came after we arrived so it seems popular. :) read more

What is there to say about Mom's Pie House? AWESOME!!! This location is right before you reach Julian and is more convenient than the Downtown Julian location. Still serves the same pies!!! When you enter it is amazing to see all the pies that they have available to choose from. I had a slice of the Caramel Crumb Apple pie with whipped cream and was delicious and satisfied my craving for a slice of apple pie. The cashier was very helpful and listened carefully to all the customers. It was a very warm and comfortable place to enjoy an apple pie. There are outdoor seating areas as well. Great for families to enjoy time together. read more

We went to Julian because we wanted my Son's friends from Kansas to try the Pies here. But we went on a wrong timing, all the pie stores that we usually go to were closed due to the Power outage caused by weather conditions. So we drove towards to Santa Ysabel 'coz theres few Pies store there too, but while driving towards Santa Ysabel we saw another "MOM'S PIE.". We checked them out and gladly this location of Moms Pie was open. This location didn't have as many Pies as their main store, but still they have good selections of Pie here. We tried a couple of their pies and here is what we got: *APPLE DUMPLING *APPLE PECAN *APPLE BERRY CRUMB *APPLE CHERRY CRUMB The nice lady on the counter recommended their Pecan pie to my Son and I'm glad he picked that one 'coz their Pecan Pie was delicious, I liked how it wasn't overly sweet. For the other 2 pies I asked his friends and they said they were good pies. I got the Apple Dumpling. This one caught my attention. I've seen the Apple Dumpling at their main location 10 years ago, but I never paid attention to it 'coz there's so many Pies at their other locations. I never had Apple Dumplings before, I only had regular pies. I tried it and I loved it!!! So there's a whole peeled apple, wrapped in Pastry , it's similar to a Beef Wellington, but this one has a whole apple inside instead of meat. I tried pastry part first, and I love how buttery their pastry was, then the next thing I tried was a slice of the whole apple. It was a bit sour, but it was perfect after I mixed it with the caramelized sauce inside the Apple Dumpling, the sourness of the apple and the sweetness of the Caramized sauce and the buttery crust, omg it's so heavenly good! Now everytime I come here to Julian I will look for this Apple Dumpling. Nice staff. There's plenty of Seating inside, also they have an outdoor seating area like a garden setting , and they have a huge parking space here. read more
This is the perfect pitstop just outside of Julian. We were across the street at Fort Cross and got hungry. We sawMom's pie house across the street and knew we had to go. It's a cute little house with country style decorations, and plenty of seating. Lots of parking out front and friendly staff to get you whatever kind of pie you want & even top it with ice cream or caramel. They also have caramel apples, cookies, cider and other treats such as honey and apple butter. You can get a slice warmed up while you're there or take a whole pie with you. We did both! Take time to explore the beautiful gardens outside. You will get lost in the colorful flowers. read more

We went to Mom's Pie House on Main Street on our last day in Julian to have an apple dumpling. To our disappointment they were already sold out. The cashier suggested that we try their other store in Wynola, just 6 minutes down the road. She even offered to call them to see if they still had some (great customer service!) Success! We hurried down to get them. They already had it packaged up for us to pick up and we asked if we could eat them there instead. She asked if we wanted them heated up and if we wanted ice cream. Yes, of course! Now this was intended to be our breakfast and lunch, but the addition of ice cream pushed us into our dinner calories. We asked if we could have one scoop split between the 2 dumplings to ease our conscience. She very graciously agreed (great customer service!) We got the cinnamon ice cream which was perfect. The dumplings were perfection and just as good as we remembered. They have a nice garden out back with tables where you could eat, but we elected to sit at a nice table in the cute dining area. Dumplings $7.95 each. Ice Cream $2.00. Yum!!! read more

It was my first time in Julian, and I couldn't leave without trying a slice of Mom's famous pie! We decided to stop by this location on our way out of Julian instead of waiting in the horrendous line at Mom's second location on Main St. We tried an assortment of pie slices including chocolate pecan, pumpkin, apple berry, and apple. All of the slices, except for pumpkin, were accompanied by a heaping scoop of cinnamon ice cream, bursting with fall flavor. I also purchased a pint of chilled apple cider, which tasted perfectly sweet with a hint of tartness to balance out the flavors. The crowd favorite was definitely the pumpkin and the chocolate pecan, although the latter was definitely lacking in pecan flavor. The apple pie was also delicious, and had a drizzle of caramel that complemented the warm stewed apples and buttery crust. I would definitely come back here to fix a pie craving. read more

Can't drive by without stopping for some pie! Cute gifts too. Merchandise, honey, jam, cider. Tried the Bumbleberry pie warmed up. Pie for breakfast! Delicious! Coffee was good too. Highly suggest going to this location rather the one in downtown. Parking and service is much easier. With so much pie and bakery shop options Moms is a good choice. Pies by the slice ala mode or whole pie you can't go wrong. Lines can be daunting on the weekend tho but gotta support these local shops read more

On our way home we stopped at this location as the one in downtown Julian was a Zoo. I'm not the biggest pie person, but with everything I've heard of these pies we decided to try them. We ordered a slice of Bumbleberry and Apple pie with crumble crust and vanilla ice cream. Both pies were not overly sweet and were perfectly balanced. We enjoyed our treats on their outdoor patio/garden area. The weather was great and it was a nice place to enjoy. They do have counter service and it smells amazing inside! read more
Long lines just to get a slice!! Be sure to ask for them to warm up your pie. We tried the regular apple pie with cinnamon ice cream. The ice cream was good but I think the pie was just okay. The chocolate pecan pie was pretty good though maybe because it was different. Staff is friendly but I wouldn't wait in line for this pie again. read more

Pies are delish and they warm them up for you if you are getting a slice to eat there. I love a perfect crust and it was perfec, crumbly & flavorful. YUMMMMM Very cute place inside and out. They use antique kitchen items as decor. Loved it. They have a small out four patio in a beautiful nature setting. Go outside & relax. Thank you for the pie ! read more

Pros: * Absolutely amazing! * The Pies were beyond delicious; Recommend the apple pie with caramel and a scoop of cinnamon ice cream. The chocolate Pecan Pie is also amazing. It's like eating a brownie. * Service was excellent; Super nice staff * Really comforting eating areas; we chose outdoors since it was a bright and sunny day. Great place to relax. Cons: * N/A Extra: * Recommend a weekday visit if you hate crowds. We mostly had the place ourselves. The woman working at the counter told us it gets very busy on the weekends. * Plenty of parking * There is a giant sign to alert you that you are nearing the bakery.
