This location is outside of Julian so it's not as busy. They have pies you can get in slices or whole pies to purchase. All of their pies are so good but my favorite is the apple berry crumb with vanilla ice cream on top. I love the crumb on top of the pie since it adds a nice texture. Their pies are all super delicious and service is great.
Honestly one of the best apple pies I've ever had! The crust is perfectly flaky, the filling is warm and flavorful, and it's just the right level of sweetness. Adding a scoop of ice cream takes it to another level such a perfect combo. You can really taste the quality and freshness in every bite. Seating inside is a bit small, but they do have outdoor dining which is great. Service is fast and efficient too.
Longtime fans of Julian Pies that we'd discovered at Seaside Market in Cardiff by the Sea, we were excited to visit an actual pie shop location! We enjoyed the following there, seated outside: - slice of Caramel Dutch Apple ($7.95) + vanilla ice cream ($2.95) - slice of Peach Apple Crumb ($6.95) + vanilla ice cream ($2.95) - coffee ($3.95) Not surprised that the pie selection was limited with less than 45 minutes before closing. We left with their Bag of Memories (6 cookies made of pie crust sprinkled with cinnamon & sugar, $5) and a whole Peach Apple Crumb pie ($25.95).
Yep I sure did make the drive out here to grab me one of their popular pies. Julian is known for their many variety of pies. But especially their many flavors of apple pies. I got their caramel dutch apple crumb pie. Glad I did because it was absolutely delicious when I drove back to OC and had some. Just needed to warm it for 30 seconds and I was in pure heaven. The caramel top made it even that much better. The crust to apple filling was perfect. And it had the perfect amount of sweetness. I highly recommend it. You can even get their pies frozen to take back if you like. Besides pies, they also had other baked goods such as their pastries, cookies, and donuts. I would love to their their popular apple cider donut. Besides pies and baked items they also had goodies, such as their house made apple honey, apple cider flavor popcorn, and apple butter. The staff was nice and my pie came out pretty quick. They have limited seating inside and a nice patio outside to enjoy your treat. There is plenty of parking. I would definitely come back.
Oh. My. Goodness. I don't even like pie, never have. However, The Julian Pie Company has converted me. Traffic to Julian was wild so we didn't think we were going to make it on time. Fortunately, we made it 10 minutes before closing and were able to score some pie a la mode. For those of you driving from far just be forewarned that the closing time is strict. As soon as 5:00pm hits, that door is locked and closed. My husband and I were scrambling to get there and we feel so lucky to have gotten to try it as our lives have been changed for the better. The menu is small and straightforward. You order your slice, any toppings, and a drink to go with your pie. I got the dutch slice (which has a streusel crumb topping) with a scoop of ice cream. My husband got a natural slice on its own. Thankfully, the scoop of ice cream was very generous, so I was able to place some on the natural slice. I do think that the the dutch slice with ice cream was a little too sweet but on the natural it was perfect. Both slices of pie were so warm and perfectly flaky. I loved the warmth and spice of the apples and thought that the smell was fantastic. We came when it was raining so we did not see outside seating but did see some seating inside. You can buy whole pies to go as well. I loved it so much, I will return :)
Rode out from Anaheim with the bros to Julian yesterday after they talked about how good the pie was and they definitely were not wrong! Well, we stopped by the one in Julian, but after seeing how long the line was we rode back towards the one in Santa Ysabel instead. I ordered a slice of Apple Mountain Berry and Dutch Apple to take home. The Apple Mountain Berry has a blend of apples, raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries. The Dutch Apple is a sweeter version of the original with a crumb top. I'm not really big on sweets, but I gotta say, this was a really great slice of pie. It's not too sweet and the crust/crumb was excellent. Looking forward to trying the Dutch Apple one later today! Service was nice. One of the dudes was friendly; good vibes. Don't forget to order ice cream like I did! It would've really elevated the pie to a whole new level. Sounds like I have a great excuse to ride back down this way again!
Oh what a delicious place, usually I always know what I wanted but here is just so hard! Everything is delicious and look so great. We try 2 of their pies that were just perfect even their coffee is really good, this place is amazing for any occasion and any time of the day.
The moment you walk in this location it smells like fresh apple pie hug . This location isn't as crowded as main st Julian . They have all the same stuff but in my opinion friendlier service and if you eat outside you're surrounded by mountains it's beautiful . We cake on a Saturday and the cider donut holes are amazing . This time we got peach apple pie which had a nice balance of sweet and tart . A employee recommended Carmel drizzle on top and now we will get it every time . They serve Peet's coffee which is very good and bold . Make this your pie shop you won't regret it .
We made the drive from Oceanside to Julian on a slightly rainy day it couldn't have been more perfect. The downtown Julian Pie Company location was completely packed, so we decided to stop at the bakery and headquarters on the way out. Best decision ever. We had fresh apple pie with ice cream (you can choose vanilla or cinnamon and that day, the cinnamon ice cream is sounded like the perfect addition ) and my son swore they had one of the best hot chocolates he's ever had. He isn't a big apple pie fan, but they have some other options and he opted for chocolate chip cookies. Full transparency here, the hot chocolate looked like it came from a machine, but the cozy vibe of the day made everything taste better. Just a heads up: it's not dog-friendly inside, only the patio, so plan accordingly if it's cold. You could leave your dog out in the car if you brought them, but we ended up freezing out on the patio lol . Still, I highly recommend stopping at the bakery location when you're in Julian.
Classic Julian Pie Company. You can find them at most grocery stores all over San Diego County. I suggest you get pies there because the lines here are ridiculously long. But if you must come, don't miss out on the hot apple cider -- it's delicious!

They have a lot of parking, decent seating options, and they also sell their merch here! (Clean bathrooms which is a plus!) This is such a cute American pie shop. I really recommend the crumble pies specifically bc the texture adds so much to the pies. I've tried lots of flavors before- but recently I got the peach apple crumb which was just so perfect for the summer. I've lived in Georgia, but somehow this is the best pie I've ever had. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area, such a destination spot!!
We always stop here for a coffee pie and donuts on the way up to Julian. The service here is with a smile. The ambience is pretty cool and.
We went around 2:30PM on a Saturday. Not too busy at this time. We always make it a MUST to get a pie from Julian. Overall the pies are great and this is coming from someone who is not a big pie person. Food: We ordered a caramel Dutch apple pie slice with cinnamon ice cream and a pumpkin pie with vanilla ice cream. The pies were delicious but definitely would ask for lighter amount of caramel drizzle next time. Service: Staff was like a kind and quick when waiting for the pies. Ambiance: The place is small and limited seating inside the building. It does give a nice smell of delicious pies. Parking: The parking in is plenty in this location but if you go to the one in the town then you'll have a harder time finding parking there. read more

Mmmm...so tasty. Some of the best pie I've had in a while. Service was friendly and nice. Even on a random weekday there was a steady stream of customers, which is always a good sign. I liked that the pies weren't overly sweet. We also tried one of their donuts, which was tasty too. read more

This is the location just about 10-15 minutes away from their main location in Julian. It's less crowded and there's usually plenty of parking. I believe they have the same items. There's some seating area just outside, but no inside seating. Service is straightforward - line up, order, and wait for your order to be prepared. We only got a slice of their standard apple pie. It had a very good crust, flavorful and fresh. The inside had a very good flavor and amount of filling. Overall it was a very good slice. Personally I'm not a big fan of apple pie so I wouldn't come out of my way to come here, but if you're in the area or on your way to Julian, then it makes a nice stop for a snack. read more

It's the perfect stop on a relaxing weekend drive. Pros: * Delicious food; recommend getting a scoop of cinnamon ice cream added to your pie order * Friendly Staff * Clean store Cons: * Prices. I can't say anything about this place that hasn't been said before. It's a dream. From the moment you step out of your car in the parking lot, the sweet aroma of pie fills the air. (kinda like when you drive past innout and it smells like innout for a mile after, except it's pie and not innout) Anyway. It's delicious. No matter what you order. There is no wrong answer. I like the apple cherry mix, litteralllllyyyyyy the best pie I've ever had. Totally worth the drive. I will always come back here for some Julian pie! read more

I simply can't help stopping by here and every time the reason is their apple pockets. From my pocket to their pockets ;) just made up. Here I also came to realization that I can consume goods here more than any other baked goods. Cup of their coffee makes me forget about the miles behind me to get here. A lot of seating area inside and out and parking is not an issue. It's an escape to be here and around. read more

Despicable un-American shrinkflation. Spent an outrageous $28 for a take-n-bake Julian Pie Company apple pie for our Thanksgiving table and what do you get--a pie that is more air than apple. Imagine our complete shock after dinner when we cut into our pie only to find that there was a super-thin layer of apple and more air cavity than anything else below the crust. It's not too long ago that these pies cost $10 less and actually had apples in them. Absolutely despicable behavior. read more
Who doesn't love Julian Pie? When in the area I won't miss getting a slice. It's great that they offer all the extras such as ice cream or whip cream. This visit was especially nice since they had my favorite flavor available which is the apple cherry. It was a great day at Julian! read more
Went here after hiking the potato chip rock and it was a well deserved treat! The line stretched out the door but it is worth the wait. Once you approach the entrance, you'll be greeted by the buttery and delicious smell of the freshly baked pies! Inside, you can watch the team assemble the pies. I ordered a slice of the dutch apple pie and pumpkin apple pie to go. I regret not eating it there because if i had, i would have walked right back in to order a full pie of the pumpkin apple. It was so good with a nice balance of pumpkin and apple. One slice was not enough! read more

Julian Pie Company's Dutch apple pie is HEAVENLY. We drive here, out of the way, just to get pie and it never fails. They have a large parking lot for regular cars and trailers which is great. The line was a bit long when we arrived, but it moved very fast. We ordered a Dutch apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and also got an apple cider. Both were delicious and you could actually taste the yummy apple in the apple cider. If apple pies aren't your thing, they also have other flavors like berry or pumpkin, etc. you literally can't go wrong with any of them. It was pretty tight inside so we sat at the tables outside. We loved the pie so much we decided to get the frozen bake-at-home full pies to bring home. I love it here. read more

Finally came here to try the famous Apple pie - and the pie itself was good. The filling was tasty with spices coming through and the crust was buttery and flaky. I tried it plain so adding ice cream would probably add to the experience. Even though they warmed it up, I would've preferred it to be even warmer, but I'm guessing they're being careful to not burn anyone. Overall, it's a nice pie - better than Mom's Pies (down the road - I tried both). This location is pretty nice and is definitely less crowded than the one in Julian. There's an outside sitting area at the side, too. In the future, if I'm nearby, I'll stop for a slice and maybe try some other flavors. Good place to try if you're traveling by. read more
Here is an updated review for Julian Pie Company at the Santa Ysabel location. I was nervous to come back because of the reviews that I have read about skimping on the filling. However, I am happy to report that it wasn't the case for me! I phoned in to confirm that they are selling Cherry Pie before visiting on 5/4/2024. Cherry Pie ($23.95) is my favorite and Julian Pie Company makes it well. I love their crust - it is buttery and flakey! I also like their Original and Dutch Apple Pie ($21.95 each). The person who rung me up was very friendly. And even though I was already happy getting pies, I was even happier because he was so friendly. This shop is bigger than the Julian location and it is my preferred store. They have a lot more items to choose from and a larger parking area. I recommend coming early in the mornings if you want to avoid crowds. Ask for a stamp card. They don't expire and you can save up for a free pie after your 10th purchase! Also, pies are priced cheaper at the pie shop compared to online order and buying it from a supermarket like Albertsons. read more

I loved: Dutch apple pie with vanilla I really liked: Strawberry rhubarb with vanilla I liked: Apple cider Apple cider donut The pies here are superb #goodeats they're well crafted and have great mouthfeel. You get so much ice cream but somehow it's the perfect amount. I'm debating taking a pie home, they're that excellent. The apple cider donut is kinda light on the flavor and I've had better apple cider but it's a nice local brand. Service is really quick despite there being long line. They're experts at clearing the queue. It's a small space with only outdoor seating. The temperature wasn't too bad when I went but I imagine you're gonna want something ice cold on a hot day outside. read more

This is the best place to get a good quality pie, Julian Pie Company is an absolute gem! The variety of flavors is impressive, from classic apple to unique options like strawberry rhubarb, mountain berry or chicken pot pie. Each pie is made with quality ingredients, and you can really taste the difference. The crust is perfectly flaky and buttery, and the fillings are bursting with flavor. I have loved all the pies I have had from them but my absolute favorite is their frozen key lime pie, it so good. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to recommend their favorites. Stopped in after lunch at Farmhouse on a Saturday in February. There was a line, but maybe waited 5 minutes max. Ordered a slice of the mixed berries with crumb topping and whipped cream topping. The whipped cream was almost as expensive as the slice but also very tasty. I split the slice with my friend and we really enjoyed it. There's a bunch of seating outside on the patio, but most of the tables were free, we were able to grab one as someone else was getting up. Glad I got to experience this once after driving past here many times on our way to camping and hiking. read more
