I live close by and this is one of my "go-to" lunch spots. The sandwich menu has a good variety of items, you can get a choice of toppings, the bread is toasted in front of you, there's a variety of chips and soft drinks. They have a few soups and shakes. What's not to like? I've tried a number of sandwiches. My new thing is the $7.99 small sandwich with chips and a fountain drink. It's a great value. For that, you're limited to turkey, chicken or ham. There's a decent amount if meat out in those small sandwiches. And, again, you choose your toppings. Occasionally, we'll get a salad. Yesterday we got the chicken salad that has cranberries. It's a nice size. The menu offers a few salads (like chicken salad), but I don't know if you can get a tuna salad salad or other salad with your choice of meat. I never asked. The place is generally kept clean and the Staff are for the most part friendly. The shakes are very good - a guilty pleasure, but very worth it. read more

Potbelly is continuing to violate Montgomery County's noise ordinance. This week their delivery truck showed up in the 3am hour to unload merchandise and wake up residential neighbors. The noise ordinance prohibits noises over 55 decibels before 7am. The sound of a truck running is 80. Last week managers replied to a previous Yelp review about this so the company is now acknowledging that it is knowingly negligent of its legal duty. This is a public nuisance and a violation of the warranty of habitability. I am literally planning to move because a large corporate sandwich shop feels it's above the law. I reiterate, if Potbelly doesn't care about the well being of the surrounding community perhaps we shouldn't trust them to make us the food we eat. read more

It was not my fault, I specifically asked for 5 additional sandwiches that I needed from my 1st order. They sent me another bundle for 10 and charged my credit card. It's been awhile since I've been to this Potbelly, but I found this location to always be consistent in their service and quality of food they offer. During my most recent visit, I ordered ahead on the app. My order was ready several minutes after the stated time, but it seemed like they were short staffed and fairly busy so this was understandable. My go-to items at Potbelly are the Italian sandwich and the farmhouse salad (with balsamic vinaigrette on the side), so I decided to take advantage of the half sandwich/half salad combo. Whether you eat a sandwich or salad, I like how they don't skimp on the meat and how fresh the ingredients are. The only bummer during my recent visit was that my bag of mini oatmeal chocolate chip cookies (so good!) were a little on the hard side. They are usually super soft; however, the bag still got eaten! There's plenty of indoor seating and some outdoor seating as well. Also, this location could get super busy during peak dining times, but I have found the lines to move at a decent pace. Parking at this location could be a little hard to find directly in front of the restaurant as there are limited meters, but there are a few garages and lots nearby. read more

I have been to this location just a few times. Can't remember what I ordered on past visits, but on my most recent visit, I did an online order so I could do a pickup of my meal. I ordered a Meatball Sub, an Oreo Shake and a Lemon Cheesecake Cookie (we all have 1 cheat day and this was mine). I was surprised when the total came up to around $11 because in the Rockville Town Square area a meal can cost you around that or more (no drink or dessert included). There are exceptions to this and this spot seems to be one of them. When I went to pick up my order, I had to wait a few minutes, but then again they were still in the window of getting my order ready. When I received everything I first checked my bag before leaving the store (something one must always do when ordering to go). On my way out I was told to check my receipt for a $3 off sandwich/salad - I might actually use it although it is only good in person and I'll have to use it within the next 2 days as it does expire. Once I got settled, my sub was warm and toasted which I really enjoyed; my shake was delicious, but not heavy and the cookie...well that didn't last very long. They have something called Potbelly Perks which I will look into more as it saved me some dollars on my meal today (paid less than my $11 total). I might actually come back to this spot and try some more things (we'll see). My check-in didn't go through because of poor Verizon service in the rain?! I've been here a number of times, on weekends and weekdays alike. I've had mixed experiences, but my review is of my experience tonight. There was no one in line, and only a few people in the dining area. My friends and I were able to order right away, with an attentive employee waiting to receive orders with a smile and warm greeting. I ordered a Mediterranean chicken on flatbread, with no artichokes (bleh!), lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado ($1.20 extra) and extra hot peppers. Although the sandwich was extremely oily (I didn't ask for oil but maybe it's the hot peppers that are the culprit), it was toasted perfectly, well assembled, stayed put, and tasted fresh and delicious. It was made just as I had asked, except the oil I'm not sure about. The staff also deserve a shoutout for being in good spirits---despite the dreary weather and store's slowness---particularly the cashier, Grace-Michelle, who was really friendly and personable. read more

Girls catch on to that trend... haha, the description for it just sounds so good! I posted a picture, it's just a regular size-- they have a bigger one. I highly recommend it! I've been getting it for years... No need to try the other ones when you've got a winner! The girls always get the turkey sandwich, I guess that's good too. And they have the Orange-Mango Nantucket Nectar drink I love so much! There's a nice set up inside, it's like a cozy set up with and old look type ambiance. I have no gripes against the quality of the food or the folks who're on the preparation line taking care of the order placed. The food is definitely tasty, and the employees who prepare the orders are friendly and efficient. My gripe is with the LAZY MANAGEMENT. There's a parking garage right around the corner at which a sign at the entrance indicates that Potbelly will provide a voucher for 50% of the parking fee (Regular price is $4 for the first hour). When I got to the register to pay at Potbelly and asked for validation, the LAZY and smart-mouthed manager said she had no vouchers to provide me. Then, in her snide way, made the comment: "Well, it's only $2.", referring to the money I would have saved with the voucher. I then asked whether I simply have to "eat" the additional $2, her response was to the affirmative. Well, if it's "only $2," then why didn't she simply refund $2 of the $30+ I spent of the family meal? Upon returning to the parking garage, I spoke to the very kind woman who was working in the garage office, who informed me that the Potbelly crew hadn't picked up their vouchers for a while. All they have to do is to walk one block to pick them up, so they COULD live up to the claim one encounters upon entering the garage. However, the management is too LAZY to fulfill that hollow claim! They act as though you are keeping them from doing whatever it is they'd rather be doing. And they let know it. The food is great but the service will keep me away from Potbelly from now on. And after checking the receipt, I was told that "in consolation", they didn't charge for chicken, anyway. Can we all just take a minute to look at their menu? It clearly says, "Farmhouse: all-natural grilled chicken, hard-boiled egg, bacon, blue cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion". Um, what? I don't care if this is a chain, the quality of the food keeps me coming back again and again. Lot of sandwich, salad, and soup options available, and they always add a new sandwich every few months to keep things interesting. My fave is the chicken salad sandwich - thick juicy pieces of chicken and not too much mayo. I could eat it every day. The best part, though, is the options you get to add. Onions, hot peppers, italian seasoning, oil, mustard, pickles, tomatoes, mayo, lettuce, etc. Great stuff. If you get must of the add-ins, which I always do, they really pack it in. It'll fill you up. Plus, their cookies will make you forget this isn't a five-star bakery. The sugar and brownie cookie are big in size, soft and moist, and just about as good as any cookie I've gotten anywhere. The chilli, chicken noodle soup, and black bean soup are all really good, too, and they'll provide as many packets of crackers as you can handle, but you might have to ask! Very frustrated this location selectively answers the phone during business hours! People may have placed an order that they want to cancel or they may be waiting outside for curbside and nobody answers the phone. Your telephone voice prompt specifically states you offer curbside pickup. However, if you are not going to answer the phone and someone cannot come inside, what do you expect people to do?! The order cannot be cancelled at that point! I realize you may be short-staffed or you're busy, but don't accept orders if you're so busy that you can't answer the phone. Someone may have young children in the car, they could be immunocompromised, not have a mask, etc. and may not be able to come inside. Overall, not a bad sandwich shop. Located in a relatively work area of Rockville, it's a nice lunch option to have nearby. I ended up getting a Big sized (9") Italian. In terms of taste, the sandwich was pretty decent. Ingredients tasted great and from the taste, what's used is pretty fresh. I will say that though the sandwiches don't feel as filling as advertised, they do have a nice preset of options you can choose from. Once you do that, then just pick what you want the maker to add to your sandwich (all free, except avocado is $1 extra). Overall, a nice lunch option and from the looks of it, it seems to be a local sandwich chain. Would recommend as a lunch option if you're around one nearby. read more

I'm a regular at this location and usually the food and service is great, but my most recent experience was unfortunate. I came in during a lunch rush, and ordered a milkshake. I waited a total of 10 minutes- while everyone behind me had already gotten theirs- before I went and politely asked the worker where my milkshake was. I had no intention of being rude- I just wanted to make sure she didn't forget about my order, she was obviously annoyed and angry and told me that everyone has to wait. She proceeded to hand me a shake a couple of seconds later that was practically chocolate milk. I saw her carelessly make my milkshake. I don't want to discredit the great work and service that other workers there provide, but I felt the need to share this experience. I also work in customer service and I understand the struggles, but she was rude and I spent money to be satisfied with my order. read more

It was not until I moved away from Maryland (to an island where they don't have a Potbelly's!) that I learned to fully appreciate the goodness of what a delicious, hot sandwich can do for me. And at a reasonable price. I would go here with my friends and grab a booth, order sandwiches, sodas or a milkshake with the cookie on your straw and relax for over an hour while we would listen to the live band (or singer) play in the loft. The parking might suck (because you have to pay if you park in the lot, or find the minimal street parking available), but it's worth it. Pay for a stall, grab a bite to eat and catch a movie. It's a relaxing Sunday right there. The seating is nice and cozy, especially if you can grab a booth. And I find the sandwiches are just the right size. read more

I pretty much always get the wreck, but I've had many of their other sandwiches including the meatball sub, tuna and Italian and enjoyed them all. For toppings, everything is good, but the peppers are more like pickles than chili's. I don't think I've ever ordered anything I didn't like at potbelly's, and the speed is just icing on the cake. I love Potbelly sandwiches! They are the best chain sandwich restaurant in the area. Why? Cause they have the best vegetarian sandwiches! Option 1 - the Vegetarian. Mushrooms, cheese, and toppings of your choice on toasty bread (usually I get the wheat). The hot peppers are a good addition to this sandwich if you can take the heat and oil. Otherwise, it's pickle time. Option 2 - Mushroom Melt - see above; minus some bread. If you want to give yourselft a treat, the cookies are consistently yummy... but the shakes are superb! I particularly enjoy this location because they have plenty of outdoor patio seating. And sometimes they have a singer/guitarist playing during peak lunch hours which is nice. (I'd always heard that Potbelly's did this but never saw it). Plus, they have a good movie ticket deal - sandwich and a ticket for something like $12. read more

After requesting your order, move over to the next section in line to request what you'd like to add to your sandwich (if applicable). Lastly, the sub rolls were dry and almost stale. No wonder they push "toasting" the bread as to cover up the poor roll quality. The last two times I went there, the sandwich preparer didn't ask me what condiments I wanted and stared at me blankly assuming I could telepathically hear them and knew which sandwich making step they were on. I've only been here once so far butI saw their menu and was very curious about it. Ordered a chicken salad sandwich and it was made just right to my specifications. The big advantage to this location is that its right next door to the movie theater, however, it closes too early. The best thing is obviously the sandwiches. "The Wreck" is their big meaty sandwich which is pretty tasty when you get it with everything (lettuce, tomato, onions, peppers, salt, pepper, oil, italian seasoning). My favorite is the turkey and cheese on white, which is a simple sandwich but the sandwich is warm, not hot and oh so tasty. The portion is a pretty good amount and is probably one of my favorite sandwiches in the area. The big weakness here is the reason it only got 3 instead of 4 stars--the chili. Its not nearly spicy enough and when you ask for onions and cheese, they just put a slice of american cheese on top. Its not bad, its just not that special. We got four sandwiches; two mediterraneans with added avocado, (one on a flat- which is really just like a square tortilla), a chicken salad sandie, and a turkey sandie. All were lightly toasted. Love the sandwices. The peppers are one-of-a-kind and my favorite part of the sandwich. Be careful though not to get both the peppers and additional oil added to your sandwich, unless you really like your sandwiches dripping with oil. The peppers already come with oil. I usually get the veggie sub with three cheeses and mushrooms. Also love their cookies and milkshakes. Like this restaurant far better than Subway as their food quality is far superior. The reason I gave this restaurant four stars was due to a customer service issue I had in the past with one of their employees. They made the wrong sandwich for me and when I came back to get it redone she made me wait in line for 15 minutes in order to remake my sandwich. She wasn't at all apologetic and acted like she was doing me a favor. I wrote to the store manager about this and he offered to give me a free sandwich in the future, which was decent of him. read more

My love affair with Potbelly Sandwich Works began in Chicago. I was more than ecstatic to find that they are also prevalent throughout the DC area. Their sandwiches are fantastic. In my opinion, the secret of their deliciousness is in the mustard (I always ask for extra) and the peppers (if you can't take too much spice, get them on the side). I also adore their sweets. The shakes and malts are wonderful. My personal favorite is the mocha oreo shake. I'm also addicted to oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. One of these days, I'll get around to trying the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich... One of the perks of this location (as I recently discovered) is that they offer $8 movie tickets for the theater next door with any purchase. That's a $2.50 discount for non-matinee shows, and in today's economy, every little bit helps. That said, my next dinner and a movie will be featuring Potbelly Rockville. :) read more
