I haven't been to CPK in over 10 years and after dinner on Sunday, I feel like I should go back. There's a parking garage right next to CPK, and it's free. We were seated pretty quickly and we sat outside. It was a bit chilly that night but there's heaters above and we never felt cold throughout dinner. We got mexican corn for the starter, which unfortunately, came out with our entrees but it wasn't the end of the world. The food was great, I got the garlic cream pasta with chicken. The chicken pieces were cut a lot smaller than I was expecting, I was hoping for some bigger pieces, but that's my only complaint about the dish. My boyfriend and I shared the churro dessert, which I highly recommend. It was delicious. I want to give a huge shout out to our waitress, I think her name was Joanna. She was absolutely amazing. We had the worst dining experience at CPK last night. We arrived before 5 pm and it took more than 2-1/2 hours to leave after being seated. This was not fine dining, so we felt it was unacceptable to wait so long for our orders to be taken, bread to be served, meals to get to our table. There was staff walking back and forth, but it looks like the kitchen was backed up. Seems like poor planning on the part of management for the holiday shopping season. I ordered spaghetti bolognese which used to be good. Last night's dish had overcooked spaghetti and watery sauce under it. I asked the waiter if there was any sauce on it and he said there was sauce. I didn't want to wait any longer so I just ate some and left the rest. My husband's salmon piccata was ok. My granddaughter ordered a kid's pasta with meat sauce, and she was looking for the sauce too. My husband ordered a mango ice tea, which was watered down without any flavor. To management, please be sure to tell your wait staff to brush their teeth if they deal with the public. My recent visit to what is usually my favorite pizza spot was a bit disappointing due to some service and quality issues. The service was incredibly slow and our server seemed thoroughly confused as he came to ask for our order twice as he had forgotten to put in the order the first time. We also had to send back our pizza because it arrived ice cold, so it had to be sent back to the kitchen to be reheated. Adding to the already not great experience was that our salad was very lacking in flavor and in freshness. I typically enjoy the atmosphere and food here but with the cold main dish, the sad salad, the poor service made the entire experience feel like a major letdown. Always a good time here. Leslie was our server: attentive and personable. I got the sparkling berry- lemon drink, light and tasty. Did not partake in the artichoke dip, but my family finished it lol The chicken piccata was very tasty and light, not overpowering. Just thoroughly check your receipt, this MB CPK will nickel/dime you just to get the bill total higher, we were charged $1 for ranch and $1.75 for thin crust. WTF. It's literally less pizza dough, have NEVER been charged extra for thin crust in my life. The last one was hilarious, $3.50 for ice cream for the butter cake, which should've already been included. What a joke. The bill is presented on an electronic tablet, where they stare at you as the tip screen is up, luckily I gave under 15% tip to compensate for the sneaky up-charges. I need to give 5 outstanding stars to bar area server, Charlie. His customer service was all thumbs up. He handled the bar area mostly by himself along with the help from a gal server idk her name. Most of the time when I dine in, I like sitting at the bar area being able to see everything. And of course no waiting but straight to ordering and eating. Charlie is by far the best customer service I've ever encountered here. Always very sweet and polite Manager Molly has done a great job in hiring him from the Redondo Beach branch to help bring him over to this biggest CPK branch ever in the whole USA in Manhattan Beach. From start to during to finish of all my dishes and mocktail drinks here, Charlie was not only diligent, polite, respectful, professional, genuine, and all around superb with his cheery manner and service, he was such a gentleman. You can tell he's been raised well and is great at his job. Anyone who has Charlie on their team, is such a blessing. Manager Mike is real nice and polite too. Love that he is helpful especially in accommodating my special request with my special pasta dish I've had for soooo many years of ten plus years. During my recent visit to California we stopped at CPK for dinner and was delicious!!

I haven't been to CPK in a while and unfortunately after this most recent experience, I was reminded why. Going to the Manhattan Beach location here at The Village, I thought service would be much better given how nice this area is. Our server's name was Jessica and from the get go she was neither warm nor friendly. The first strong negative reaction from her came out when we asked about allergies. I asked multiple times but she didn't want to be bothered with listing them out. It didn't seem like she cared or took them seriously at all. Then she served water to our table and mine was coincidentally (or possibly intentionally lol) left out. We put up with the attitude a bit longer but eventually requested a different server since we didn't want to risk not being able to eat at all. Thankfully management was helpful with that request. Unfortunately the above experience did negatively affect the ambiance we felt here. As for food, we got a kids meal and a regular pizza with way too much arugula, so taste wise wasn't very satisfied. I remember it being better with all of these aspects before but again it's been a while. Likely won't be coming back again anytime soon. read more

I've ordered a couple times recently from California Pizza Kitchen and I've been pleasantly surprised. I always order the cauliflower crust, it is cooked perfectly and complements any pizza. I recently tried their New Crispy Chinese Dumpling Salad and it was amazing -I'll definitely be ordering it again as it pairs perfectly with a pizza as a side salad. The ingredients are fresh and healthy - the dumplings and the yummy honey miso salad dressing ties everything together beautifully. The half portion of the Chinese dumpling salad can easily be split between two people if you're sharing a pizza. read more

I was told that it was just remolded so upon entry the scale and elegance of this restaurant was super nice. It's literally as big as a warehouse. This time I decided to not go with the classic bbq chicken pizza and try something I believe was new on the menu, their burnt ends bbq pizza. The burnt ends are brisket, it was so good. My other half got the club pizza. Now I was confused when I heard that, what is a club pizza? It's all the things you would put on club sandwich and it taste just like a club sandwich too but in pizza form. It's definitely worth a try. My daughter's and I dined in on Monday, 1/19/26. We were told that the wait time was about 30 minutes. So we decided to walk around the mall while waiting. We finally got a text and the notice says you have 3 minutes to check in. We were on the other side of the mall and literally ran to mall sure we didn't lose our table. We got the turkey club and cesar salad combo, chicken salad and tortilla soup, spaghetti bolognese with chopped salad and 1/2 and 1/2 pizza bbq chicken and pepperoni, sausage and mushroom. They charge $2.50 extra for 1/2 and 1/2 pizzas which was ok. Everything tasted great. My daughter thought the turkey was a bit dry but enjoyed the sandwich nonetheless. My spaghetti bolognese was tasty and my daughter enjoyed her soup and salad. Their bread was nice and warm. They also have robots that serve which we thought was cool. Food: CPK offers an array of different food/beverage options so it maintains a good variety. The food and beverages have some uncommon combinations which makes it a better than your average sit down restaurant. The pizza is the main item to judge by and CPK makes a good pizza that meets or exceeds the baseline. A base pepperoni pizza is really pretty good and maintains a great sauce/dough/crust/cheese/meat ratio. I think the salads are better than the pastas and overall the food is good. Service: I had a take out experience and not a sit down experience so I can only say it was good and I had no problems. Ambiance: CPK has a curated look and this location maintains it. I ordered the combo turkey and Brie half sandwich and pea soup. My husband ordered a half sandwich and salad combo. I took my family to California Pizza Kitchen in Manhattan Beach for a Mother's Day luncheon. We had about a 20-minute wait to be seated, which was okay. The waitress was nice, and the food was pretty good overall. I usually get the veggie pizza, but I tried the burnt ends veggie pizza this time, and it tasted pretty good. My wife got her go-to BBQ chicken salad, which she enjoyed. My son's had Pizza's, my daughter had pasta. I also had street corn it was good and tried to decide between Key Lime pie which is my favorite and butter cake we did butter cake which was pretty good. My daughter had the red velvet cake The kids' meals were decent, but the only hiccup was that the food came out at different times for each of us. We really enjoyed this California Pizza Kitchen. It is a chain and most are very good, some not. This one was very nice indeed. Inside is cute and super clean. We were met by a hostess and seated straight away. The menu is large and there is a lot to choose from, not just pizza. Our server was fast and very polite. We really liked her. She made us feel comfortable and we never felt rushed. Out drinks were as ordered and the food came out right and what needed to be hot was and what needed to be cold was. We had a few pizzas. The Thai pizza is one of our favorites. Also, the BBQ pizza is great. We also have their 5 cheese pizza, always a hit. For salads we had an Italian chopped salad and a regular salad. It was all good. It was so good that we placed and order to go for my husband who is under the weather. We ordered the Italian Salad for him, a 5 cheese pizza and bread. Now, I was very clear that we wanted 4 of the bags of their little bread slices. We got two and I did not check, I should have. As it is my husbands favorite thing there, he was super disappointed. CPK is one of my favorite places to go to happy hour in Manhattan Village as they have lots of delicious food items along with good deals for drinks. I always order the Buffalo chicken bites, which is packed with heat but at the same time delivered a good umami flavor because of the blue cheese crumbles and ranch drizzle underneath, I had the dynamite shrimp for the first time and was shocked to find it delicious especially at a place that focuses on pizza dishes. The shrimp had the right amount of spice and tangyness to it, I had to keep coming back for more. One dish that I particularly didn't enjoy was the spinach artichoke dip, it didn't seem to have as much cheese as other places which I I was shocked to taste because I would think a place like this would amp up the cheese levels. I don't know why this place has so many negative reviews regarding its service, it's bound to be a busy place because a lot of people do come here to eat so I normally understand that there would be a wait sometimes, that happened to me today towards the end of my meal where I couldn't find my waitress to close out the bill but during the actual meal she kept the drinks coming and filled up and made sure everything tasted well with our meal. The food here is great. The service is great. The one changing table they have in the bathroom..., not so great! CPK, you need to do better. A mother wanting to dine at your restaurant should not have to crouch down on the floor using a changing table that's way too low and angled downward so that their baby is at risk for falling out.
