Dont try the Tuna Melt, it tasted awful and unedible as if it was cat food. Spaggetti and meatball was just as bad but atleast it was edible. It came with ONE meatball that was still frozen. The chicken noodle soup tasted like it was from a can but atleast it tasted good. The sausage biscuit and gravy was not very good as the biscuit was soggy and didnt have a very good texture. Husband and I stopped in here hoping to get some homestyle food, different than the pizza joints and yuppie bars Cambridge offers. We have lived in this area for years and never ventured in here. There were only 5-6 other cars in the parking lot at 6pm on a Friday. Now I know why. The inside of the diner is pretty dated. But, it's a diner, so I'm ok with that. First thing I noticed that 7-8 employees at all times were standing around the bar area talking and watching TV. It was awkward. But our waiter was friendly and attentive. The menu is HUGE. Everything from pizza burgers to fried flounder to chicken cordon bleu. We ordered a sampler platter: worst onion rings I ever had, husband said the crab balls were good, chicken tenders were overcooked and something was just weird about the mozzarella sticks. The huge serving of marinara sauce was also kind of odd tasting. For dinner, we both ordered the country fried steak meal, came with salad bar or soup, 2 veggies and a dessert, choice of pudding or ice cream. Husband ordered mac and cheese, baked potato, and chicken noodle soup. I also had mac and cheese, but opted for salad bar and mashed potatoes. The salad bar had mainly large cut veggies, things that would need "further processing" before you could eat them - large slices of cucumber, whole eggs, large cherry tomatoes, etc. I got the potato salad which was room temperature. I shouldn't have eaten it. Husband said soup was good. Yes, as other patrons have commented, the portions are large. But it does not make up for low quality food. And no, I don't mean "simple" or "country" food - I mean bad. I am not a foodie, but this place was just bad. Two large pieces of country fried steak, covered in BROWN gravy. The mashed potatoes were just that - mashed potatoes, they were crumbly and had no seasoning, butter, milk, anything at all in them. And I don't know how you mess up a baked potato but this thing had been cooked at one time and reheated in the microwave. It was horrible. And of course, no *real* butter to go on it. The thing that actually made both of us stop eating was the mac and cheese. I love mac and cheese. But this place puts some kind of weird seasoning in theirs. I swear it tastes like pumpkin pie seasoning. It must be nutmeg? In mac and cheese? The waiter offered to take our plates, and we quickly agreed. We hadn't eaten but a few bites but our body language told that we were done. He reminded us that our meal came with dessert but we politely declined. And he brought the check. HUGE portions - no doubt about that. My toast was so saturated with butter, it was actually wet. Pancakes were huge but not great. Everything was very salty. If only the food was an issue, I'd give this place 3 stars. But the service was a real issue. Some waiters were fine. We did NOT get one of them. Our server was morose. While not bad, per se, the server was so unhappy with his job that he spent five minutes discussing his misery with the table next to us. He claimed that 'No Americans would work as hard as we do for the minimum wage' and that that's why he had been hired. He said he did the job of five people. 'What American would do that for this money?' he said, in his thick accent. Maybe it's true. Maybe there isn't a SINGLE American in the world willing to wait tables, serve with a smile and clean up after guests leave. WAIT, no... there are MILLIONS of Americans who do that. And some of them probably even work at Cambridge Diner. Too bad we didn't have one of them as a waiter. This was like a watching a bad episode of 'Undercover Boss.' Whenever I come down to ocean city, I always stop here, and for good reason. If you can hit this place early in the morning, you're in for a good day. The breakfast is some of the best things I've had, and in terms of diner food it's very well met. The portions are great and MOST of the food is worth its price.. Though there are a few problems with a couple dishes. 1. I would suggest staying away from the Chicken nuggets for your children as they are always a bit over-cooked. My brother got them when he was younger and was always disappointed. 2. The hot sauce is very vinegary and is not legitimately spicy. Other than that, the meals are very well worth their price. The soups are delicious; especially the Split Pea if you're in the mood. Last time I got the crab cake and that rivals some of the cakes down in OC itself. No filler, just right seasoning. Also, don't forget to mention the great breakfast. The French toast is delicious, and thick, too. The pancakes are large; they aren't the exact best, but with a bit of syrup and butter they make for a great meal. I'd say come here if you want a great breakfast or lunch! read more

And this place certainly had the right back story: immigrant arrives with nothing, builds a business in his new country. What the Cambridge Diner didn't have, however, was quality service or tasty food. And ultimately, those two things trump all when eating out. Our experience: we were seated promptly... and then left alone... after 20 minutes, we flagged down an employee. He took a drink order of water and a decaf coffee. The water arrived after 5 more minutes of wait, accompanied by a cup of tea. The menu noted we could substitute a muffin for our toast for an up-charge. When I inquired about the muffin selection, I was informed it was comprised entirely of "English muffin." Lukewarm coffee finally arrived just as the food showed up. The omelet lacked flavor - save for the large chuck of onion in the middle - and was perfectly complemented by mushy home fries that likewise lacked taste. The wife's French toast was warm, but otherwise unremarkable. We ended up spending over an hour here, only about 10 minutes of which involved eating. read more

Went there for a late lunch. I had the crab cake sandwich and my wife had soup and salad. The sandwich came with soup of the day so we tried both the chicken noodle and the beef barley- both were delicious! Crab cake sandwich was huge and tasty. It came with a generous portion of well cooked french fries and cole slaw that was too sweet for my taste but fresh. WARNING: DO NOT TRY THE LAMB CHOPS! This weekend, my husband and I went to Ocean City with another couple. We decided to stop for dinner in Cambridge as we were all pretty hungry and holding out to Ocean City was just not going to happen. Roadtrips are always a good time to try out local places and diners, so when we saw Cambridge Diner, we decided "Why not?". By the time we left an hour later, we were thinking "Why did we stop here?" Yes, the portions are big, but the food is not that good. All four of us got one of the dinner specials that included salad bar or soup, the entree, 2 sides, and dessert (ice cream or pudding). I think I lucked out because I got the crabcakes and they were actually good. Lots of crab meat, no filler, cooked perfectly, and had Old Bay on them (a must on the Eastern Shore). Unfortunately my crab cakes and the ice cream were the only good things ate at the table that night. My husband made the mistake of getting the lamb chops. WARNING: DO NOT GET THE LAMB CHOPS! (It is worth repeating). They were so completely well done that it was laughable. Apparently overcooking meat is not confined to the lamb chops because my friend's steak (ordered medium) was also completely well done. No ounce of pink was to be found. The other "highlight" of our meal was that we got the stereotypical diner waitress - bitter and apathetic. Hence, why we didn't even bother trying to send back the lamb chops or steak. However we should have all known better and just stuck with breakfast food or sandwiches. If you are are driving through Cambridge and looking for a place to eat, I'd recommend avoiding Cambridge Diner. read more

They pride themselves on big portions and you can tell. The cold cut hoagie was fill with thick cuts of turkey and roast beef- which I've never had. Usually they skimp on the meat, but not here. On the other hand it made the sandwich impossible to eat! I had to unhinge my jaw and dig it. It was tasty. The prices weren't cheap, but not expensive. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful. OVERALL REVIEW: Good prices for HUGE portions of food. The seafood is always fresh, the lamb chops are amazing, and they offer a "prix-fixe" style menu complete with choice of salad bar or soup, entree and dessert. DETAILED REVIEW: The Cambridge Diner is diner often frequented by locals from around the area. The diner itself is clean and bright. Their menu selection is vast, ranging from italian pasta to lamb chops to seafood, as well as diner brunch favorites. The portions are huge, at decent prices. Expect a meal for one to run about $15-$20. But don't get fooled, when I say the portions are huge, I mean it. All dinners come with the choice of soup or salad bar. The soup is somewhat lukewarm and not great, however the salad bar is fresh and delicious. The marinara sauce used in the spaghetti special and chicken parmigiana (as well as any other pasta with red sauce) is decent, however is too sweet for my taste. The "mini" portion offerings on the menu are not as small as you may think, for example, the "mini" chicken parmigiana came with 2 big pieces of chicken, and I was told that the regular portion comes with 3. The standouts though, are the lamb chops and seafood plates. The lambchops (which look to be about 5-6 ounces per chop) are perfectly cooked and seasoned, and served with 4 on a plate. The "Napolean" special, which has crab stuffed scallop, crab stuffed mushroom and crab stuffed flounder is the most delectable thing on their menu. The crab "stuffing" is a mound of crab meat, loosely bound with bread and mayo, but mostly made of crab. Delicious. I would rename the dish "3 crabcakes, and one scallop, one mushroom and some fish" due to the huge amount of crab stuffing provided. Any dinner specials also come with a choice of pudding or ice cream for dessert, so really, its like eating a prix-fixe menu at a diner. The bread pudding however, lacks taste other than an overwhelming amount of cinnamon. All in all, the entree is the best part of the meal. read more

Saw this on Google maps close to a hotel we stayed at, it had 4 1/2 stars so we went for lunch. Could not have been more pleased. Our waitress was sweet and very attentive. Food was excellent and for the price, we basically got 3 meals because we ended up taking leftovers. I am a French onion soup fan and got an order, it was really about perfect and I told our server it was so good. She said many people think it is too salty and I told her absolutely not, and to tell the chef. Got patty melt, loaded with onions and mushrooms. Fries were tasty and crispy, not limpy. Husband hit the beef liver and onions and he wanted to roll in it, it was so good he said. Salad bar was good and fresh, red onions were probably the best we have eaten, so sweet, must be local to the shore. Our experience was so positive we went back again the next day for lunch again. Waitress remembered us even though we had a different server that day but she came over to say hello. Again got a big salad and husband caved for liver and onions again, I had a ribeye entree which was cooked perfectly and so tasty and again we brought home most of it because the portions were huge. The owner is Turkish and his story is printed in the menu. Maybe before we leave town we can go for breakfast here. Let me first start off as I have only been here 3 times... First time was amazing. It was a group of 4 with me , we got breakfast and it was amazing! Very home like and left you full.. Waitress was very good and patient and 2 out of the 4 of us were young children. The second time I went was okay, not the best experience but being a waitress myself I understand how it is to have alot of tables and trying to be in multiple places at once. However it was 6 of us, seated quickly. Drink orders were taken when they were brought out 1 of us were missing our drink the waitress asked what the drink was 10 minutes later it was brought out. Food was received pretty quickly and was very good considering 4 got breakfast and 2 got lunch.upon receiving food 2 people in our party didnt have silverware , waitress gave 1 silverware and walked away , had to be called back to be given another. While eating our waitress only came back once to see how everything was, but was more worried about cleaning the floor with the broom vacuum... With the place packed... I understand wanting to keep the place clean dont get me wrong... But dont do it around tables that are eating.. Not very healthy considering its food, paper products and dust... Over all this experience was okay. The third time, it was 5 people in my party.. We stopped on our way back from Salisbury for a late dinner... It wasnt busy but it wasnt slow.. We we re seated right away however with no menus... Our waitress came over and asked what we were drinking.. I asked if we could have menus and she looked at me like I have 5 heads... As she was walking away from her table I stopped her and said "Excuse me I know you are busy and not our waitress but my husband and daughter are out of drinks, when you get a moment could you please get us another coke and sprite" she replied very friendly and said sure give me a few moments.. I thought yess finally we can get what we need.. Next thing I know I see out the corner of my eye this waitress who was nice enough to help us out flopping her head and arms around loudly saying to a gentleman that worked with her, " I am busy and these people need drinks , the lady at the table stopped me and demanded drinks" I very upset at this point.. No where did I demand you to do something... The gentleman brings our refills over politely asks if we are doing ok and if everything was to our standards.. I advised him that they were and thanked him for helping. Little while later we FINALLY see our waitress but she isnt worried about us.. She is worried about sitting at the employee bar by the soda machine talking to the waitress that states I demanded her to get my refills.. I can not really see their faces or hear what is going on but by the body language it wasnt very pleasant. Finally she arrives at the able asks if we need boxes and than brings them and our check.. My husbands meal came with a dessert but she never asked what he wanted or if any of us would like some. This experience was not very pleasing.. Plus we were sitting in the booths next to the mirrors on the wall and all I could see were finger prints and spit marks on the mirror.. Why? Our experience before it was all about cleaning.. This experience it was like it hasnt been cleaned(not the floor the mirrors) I am not sure if we will be back.. But if we do I really hope we either get the waitress we had the first time if not someone that isnt like the ones in paragraph 2 and 3. read more

Busy on a Sunday morning, but still was seated right away. Food was tasty, served quickly, and our server Chris was very helpful.

We were passing through on our way back home and saw the diner on the road with lots of cars out front on a Sunday morning. We're both vegetarians so breakfast is typically a safe bet for food options for us. Place was clean, bright, and the waitress was prompt and friendly. Lots of people dining were in their hunting outfits so I'm guessing this is a place the locals frequent. He got the waffle with home fires instead of meat that typically came with the order, and I got the veggie omelet with home fries. We both were happy with what we got and were full afterwards. The veggie omelet had veggies in every bite - it was not skimpy at all which I appreciated very much. The waffle had a blueberry compote and whip cream topping and they gave him a small plate full of home fries. Combined check was under $20 which I consider a good value for full bellies. We'll stop here again on our way down to Ocean city. Hope they serve breakfast all day! PS. Bathrooms were very clean. read more

We've eaten at a LOT of fantastic restaurants around the world, and Ocean Odyssey fulfilled a lot of basics and then some! If you like bland airplane food, this is the place for you. My omelette was filled with cheap, processed cheese, the pancakes tasted like cardboard, the white bread toast was cold and hard, and the hashbrowns were unsalted and undercooked. Terrible!!!!! They also serve jam and syrup from the little plastic packets (really? They can't provide syrup jugs or jars of jam?) that made me feel like I was sitting in coach class. I'm surprised they didn't give us paper plates and plasticware. The service was also abysmal. For example, the coffee mugs are tiny and hold about 10 tablespoons of coffee. Of course I finished my weak and watery coffee in about 3 minutes, and the server never came back to fill it. I saw him horsing around with other servers toward the back of the restaurant and finally had to flag down a busboy to assist. This happened about 3 more times during my breakfast -- never once did anyone come around to voluntarily refill my mug. I get it -- this is a diner and you shouldn't expect five-star food. However, this place just stinks. Who cares if the portions are huge when the food tastes like cardboard and the service is bad? My strong recommendation is to drive about 100 yards down the road and go to Cindy's Kitchen (hidden from view of route 50 but very close to the road), which has great, homemade food (not dumped out of a can or box), outstanding service, and a much better diner atmosphere. read more
