Very cute set up and lots of tea options. Portion sizes are small but I guess that's how High Tea is supposed to be (at least that's what my wife tells me!). Finger sandwiches were tasty and fresh. Listen, I don't even like tea, and I'm obsessed. The cream scone with clotted cream and jam is one of my favorite items on the menu. Anglophiles beware, this isn't actually real clotted cream but a sweet, whipped cream which goes nicely with the delicate scone. Another winner is the Grilled Pear and Swiss sandwich. The pairing sounds somewhat odd, but it works. It gets extra flavor from the apricot dijon mustard and almonds scattered throughout. Get the tomato bisque as an accompaniment. For a long time I was convinced that no other decent tea shop existed in Columbus besides Zen Cha. I was proven wrong! Cambridge Tea House has a very pleasant atmosphere that feels more of an English vibe than zen asian. The tea menu focused more on English varieties. I ordered a pot of the Vanilla Grapefruit white tea. The tea came out pre-brewed in the pot and I was given a large mug/cup to pour it in. I kind of wish they had dainty small teacups instead. The tea was interesting - most likely due to the combination of vanilla and grapefruit, but it blended well and was quite nice. I also ordered the sticky toffee pudding. Holy freaking moly. It was the best sticky toffee pudding I've ever had!!! It's now my new favorite dessert. It was not too sweet like it often is at other restaurants. It just melted in your mouth and left you wanting more and more without that overly sweet or gross fatty feeling I sometimes get from desserts. I will definitely be back. read more

If you are looking for a cup of hot tea, this is not the place. After driving over 3 hours, we were excited to give this place a try. Service was lackluster at best. Our tea came out lukewarm. When I asked that it be warmed, I was presented with a cup of hot water (no tea). I requested that the pot of already brewed tea be heated, I was told they had no way to do this. When I asked for tea to add to the cup of water, I was told I would need to pay for the tea again. How is this an issue at a TEA HOUSE??! Hot tea should be the minimum level of service provided. The food, atmosphere and service was so stellar that I've been there twice this week! ! Very vegan friendly menu! The first time I had the fresh veggie sandwich with housemade lemon hummus, avocado, carrots, alfalfa sprouts and cucumber with a side of wild rice with pineapple and raisins and the spinach salad with berries sans the goat cheese, extra almonds! Their housemade bread is really something special, like a sweet and sour dough, if that is possible. I loved that sandwich so much I went back again for it and tried the cold soups and a new tea- the white vanilla and grapefruit tea...amazing and unique. With temps in Ohio averaging upper 90's and 100 degree this week, the cold soups hit the spot. As I languished over the decision of which one to try, they delighted me by offering a sample of both! The first - a honeydew melon and mint soup, the 2nd- cantaloupe and cucumber soup. WOW! I couldn't decide which I preferred so they gave me half and half in the same bowl- it was very refreshing! They do breakfast and lunch and high tea (open till 4 Tues - Friday) closed Mon. They do a candle light dinner once a month which fills up quickly. Erin and Meghan are great servers who were careful to ensure my meals were vegan. Beautiful quaint restaurant serving high tea, sandwiches soups and salads. I went with family to celebrate my niece's 6th birthday because she wanted a Princess tea party. We had made reservations the day before which was good because the place is small. Our party of 11 took up most of the dining area. Kids had hot chocolate or tea. Menu said princess or prince high tea serving a sandwich of choice, scone, small cookies and grapes for around $7 depending on type of sandwich. I wasn't too impressed with the adults high tea servings although their scones were one of the best I've tried. Tea itself was decent and selections were of good variety. Thank you to Mary and her staff for helping to make my sister's surprise bridal shower such a great success. Because I don't live in Columbus and all of my sister's friends and future in-laws do, I had to find a venue other than my home for her shower. I wanted to make it a classy, special event with delicious food. I know my sister is fond of the Cambridge Tea House (particularly their scones, clotted cream, and preserves) so I contacted the owner Mary to set up a date for the shower. We settled on a Saturday afternoon in June, and thankfully given my very busy schedule, Mary took care of the rest! I didn't have to worry about anything other than getting the future bride there without giving away the surprise. The Tea House comfortably seated our 31 guests. There were a couple more guests than I was expecting, but Mary and her staff were quick to accommodate. The service was excellent. Mary was in the kitchen herself preparing and setting up her delicious scones, finger sandwiches, and sweets on beautiful silver three-tiered stands. Everyone raved about the food - it was all SO DELICIOUS! The scones really are incredible, and I loved the finger sandwiches Mary chose. I have had a number of people who attended the shower tell me they couldn't wait until the next time they had to plan a shower or small event so they could use the Tea House. Cambridge Tea House was one of my favorite places to enjoy tea and their delicious food. Yesterday, since I was not working, I decided to to drive across town to place an order to go and when I arrived, one of the wait staff informed me that I would not be allowed to place an order because they were short staffed. I understand that staffing is an issue these days but I tried to share that I drove quite a ways and that I was willing to wait. I also looked around and noticed a few empty tables and contemplated being seated. Maybe I could get an order that way. Frustrated, I headed for the door to leave and then, I turned around to ask for the name and number of the manager/owner to make them aware of the situation. Initially, they would only give me the email first the organization. I had to ask again for the name and, the staff, particularly the manager on duty was less than customer friendly. Matter of fact, down right rude and quite dismissive. I have never encountered this type of behavior when dining here. And then it hit me. She wasn't slighting me because I was a woman of color, was she? I did not even want to play the race card but the more I thought about it, the more I felt like being black was an issue - at least for this young woman. At the very least, her messaging could have been different and she could have exhibited some level of empathy and understanding. That would have gone a long way. At any rate, I am saddened by the encounter and most importantly, hate that I am unable to patronize a place that has some amazing food but does not embrace diversity. Hey, I work in and teach HR. Perhaps I could offer up some customer service and Diversity Training. They could sure use it and maybe other people of color would not encounter what I did! read more

This place was charming as all get out. It had kind of a kitschy grandma's living room aesthetic which I wasn't quite expecting. This is just a brief update to give Cambridge Tea House full marks after having visited a couple more times since my first review. The biggest detractor for me last time was the slow service, but in retrospect, it was a packed house on a Saturday afternoon, and a longer-than-normal wait was to be expected. Likewise, my last two visits have been in the morning, and all pastries have been available. I've gradually realized that Cambridge Tea House is becoming a dedicated go-to spot for when we have guests coming to town. That was the case for the first time we went, and has continued to be the case on each successive visit. We took my parents there back in October, and on my mother's solo trip over the past few days, it was one of the only requests she had: that we go back to this tea house for their amazing scones. After another great experience, my girlfriend and I decided to reserve a table for when *her* parents are in town for Mother's Day. All of these elements make me realize that Cambridge Tea House has become one of our dedicated stops. Service hasn't been an issue at all -- we've had the same server all three times, and she's a delight -- and the atmosphere feels "proper" without feeling "posh." Ultimately, there's something delightfully quaint and unique about having a place like Cambridge Tea House in Columbus, and I've grown to appreciate it even more than I did on my first visit. read more

My boyfriend and I found this place on yelp & are always open to trying a new place for lunch. Spur of the moment we made a reservation last night and it was a good thing we did. We managed to get the last spot open for the day. The food was incredible, high quality and not overpriced, the atmosphere inside was really nice & not pretentious like you might think, and the staff was so nice. Highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time because the place fills up fast, especially around lunch time. They have a variety of vegetarian options and even a few yummy vegan options. I had the Green Goddess sandwich and he had the mushroom quiche. We ordered a large pot of the Paris tea, which was really good. In hind sight we probably could've ordered the small pot because the large pot is, well, large. They have two non-gender specific bathrooms which were big and really nice. Eeeeheeeheee! This place is super-cute. The vibe is definitely European-- French decor with English traditions. The "specials" board was crammed full of offerings. I like a place with a rotating menu and the promise of unique and fleeting experiences each day. My tea-mate got the sticky toffee pudding. Oh. Em. Gee. It was amazing (she let me have a few bites... which, given the flavor, was incredibly generous of her). The flavor of the toffee had this layer of warmth to it that I cannot describe in words. Toffee-type desserts are not usually my thing, and I wouldn't have ordered it on my own. Now I'm intrigued at the goodness. I'm afraid to order it anywhere else, lest I be let down. But perhaps I've just been depriving myself of this joy my whole life and I just didn't know any better. Wait, I'd better clean up this drool that is running down my chin. And I don't even like desserts! Okay. So anyway... I got the scones and clotted cream with preserves. The scones were really good! Not too sweet, just the way I like them. They're not as good as Caroline C.'s scones, but they're the best restaurant scones I've ever had, at least. My only gripe is that they didn't serve enough clotted cream. I like a big dollop on every bite. This isn't WWII, I think I could have had a little more cream. I really want to come back for brunch or lunch. We'd already had lunch so we were focused on tea and "just desserts." As for tea: the list doesn't try to encompass the globe (a la Zen Cha), and stays mostly European in flavor. The tea menu is extensive enough to offer a wide variety but small enough to be manageable. I noticed the menu promised the most accurate and optimal brewing times. I expected the teapots to come out with a timer, but they do all the brewing in the back and then bring it out to you when it is ready. I kind of appreciated this touch... no waiting and work on my part. I had the autumnal cranberry tea (not on the menu), and my friend got the white vanilla and pink grapefruit. We vowed to share our pots. Both were delish. The grapefruit tea was really great-- I guess I wasn't sure what I was expecting but the flavor was very pleasant indeed. The cranberry tea was rich and spicy-- so the two teas played off one another nicely. Other sippers seemed to be given little tea cozies for their pots. We didn't get them... not sure why, but it would have been nice. The other great thing about this tea house is observing the clientele. Are you so into Downton Abbey that you want to live Dowager style all year long? Or maybe you're like me and this is the only type of tea party you'd like to join. If any of the above speaks to you, or you'd just like a good cup of tea then the Cambridge Tea House is the place for you. On a sunny Sunday I met two of my friends, because three is a party, for tea at noon. We sat sardine style at a little white tableclothed table in a dining area smaller than my living room. The Tea house is tiny! it's more like a tea nook or cranny. I would not recommend coming here without a reservation because the seating is so limited and I don't know where you would wait. Also, it's just polite to call ahead. Once seated, we each ordered a pot of tea. That's right, your tea comes is a pot complete with its own tea cozy. The menu encourages you to linger and enjoy, and I do too. There are so many different teas to choose from; black tea, chocolate tea, English Breakfast tea, Hibiscus tea, enough tea that I could go on reciting them Bubba Gump style for an entire paragraph. Along with the tea there is an excellent choice of sandwiches, soups, salads and scones, oh my. There is even an option for a traditional High Tea. We ordered the High Tea, a sandwich, and a scone. All were amazing and unique. My friend's scone came with clotted cream. While the name may sound unappetizing the cream itself is probably what a cloud from heaven would taste like. Light, airy and sweet it was the perfect topping to the sturdy buttery scone. My sandwich was apple bacon and cheddar. Everything melted all together to create a gooey goodness not soon to be forgotten. The best choice by far was the High Tea. A three tiered delight of scone sandwich and dessert. Not sure how Kate Middleton loses all that baby weight so quickly if this is part of her caloric intake everyday but maybe that is just part of the magic. The restaurant has a pretty, elegant dining room that I got to see for all of maybe a minute before the server said, "Just you?" and suggested a seat in the alcove by the restroom. Not as bad as it sounds, actually. There is a little space off of the main dining area that accommodates one small table and a tiny counter by a window. She brought a table setting and menu for me at the window, and I actually enjoyed a much more private and quiet meal than I would have gotten in the big area. You lose some of the ambience back there, but I was well taken care of and spent a longer and more relaxed time than I expected to spend. I was there for nearly two hours in my corner with a book and my tea and, far from chasing me off, they didn't even offer the check until I asked for it. I really don't know if the main room diners get the same treatment, but there was no demand for my little counter. I ordered a small pot of cinnamon spice green tea and a lemony tuna sandwich. The teapot came with an actual tea cozy over it. All the tea in all the restaurants and tea salons I've been to, I've never actually received it with a physical tea cozy. I wasn't even sure what a tea cozy was, but when you see it, it's unmistakable. It's cozy. And it's on your tea. It kept my tea piping hot as I ate. The sandwich was amazing. That bread is supreme. The lemon hummus was perfect. The carrot salad with raisins was great. The tea got a little strong by the end and I felt a bit more of a buzz than I like. But it was hot. Cozy did its job. I asked about whether the bread was ok for vegans, out of curiosity -- it was very fluffy, as if it had eggs. But no, no eggs. Report came back: water, flour, yeast, salt. The fabulosity of the bread is in how it's made, not what it's made of, I guess. This means there's at least one vegan dish on the menu in the veggie hummus sandwich, and there are a couple of salads that could probably be ordered without their cheese. Many options for veggies who eat cheese and eggs. That bread and that hummus. So not needing anything else for survival. You can get a loaf of the bread for $5 to take home. I could totally see myself going there just for that one day. I'm a fan, but it's not within "go all the time" budget for me. It's not overpriced, or at least... not once you taste that bread, that bread, that bread.... but it's more in the "occasional" price range for me. read more

I think people in Columbus are desperate for a good tea house. Let me tell you, this place is not it. The service is horrible. The owner is stuffy and rude. They were out of most things (which seems to be a consistent criticism) and what we did get was mediocre at best. I think I can have a traditional tea service without being made to feel small or insignificant. Went here today with 3 of my girlfriends for lunch and afternoon tea. I have been eyeing this place for ages after moving to Ohio because I pass by it on my commute from time to time and the exterior just looks so darn cute! The outer decor is really old school "cottage" style and the interior is clean and simple. We were able to easily make reservations the day of and arrived at noon. I ordered the afternoon tea set and got the last currant scone of the day at around 12 pm (they still had toffee and the original cream flavor). The server was really sweet but service is unfortunately pretty slow here. It took awhile for our tea to come out and finally the food. At 16.95, the afternoon tea set included a pot of tea, one scone, 3 finger sandwiches (egg, tuna salad, and goat cheese cucumber), and two sweets (today we got a piece of pumpkin pie and mint chocolate meringue). The presentation was just okay and the portions were on the tiny side. Except for the scone, the finger sandwiches and sweets were the size of a ritz cracker (pretty much bite size). The scone was a little bit on the dry side and was not warm (I'm used to having it warmed up!!!). Overall it's a nice place to relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and have a good conversation. I would probably not come here on an empty stomach though; I wasn't very full after having the entire tea set to myself. +1 star atmosphere +1 star decent service +1 star for ease of making reservation -1 star portions and quality -1 star for time it took to clear tables (a lot of vacant tables still had dirty dishes and half eaten food) I'd probably come here again to hang out but not for a satisfying meal. read more

The Cambridge tea house reminds me of a quaint cottage, with irresistible home cooked meals. I enjoyed a broccoli tomato cheddar quiche amidst old friends, family, and couples. The room is quite small and invites close, warm conversations. The wait staff is just so delightful and appreciative of your business, without being overbearing. and they love tea. I mean, I didn't know where to begin. The tea menu was long, but filled with flavors and herbs and spices from all walks of life. Visited this past Sunday with my fiance, sister, and sister's friend. I was a little worried about it being to crowded on a Sunday, but we were seated right away! There are a little over 8 tables. There is one (or two?) more tables that can't be seen from the window, nestled in the back. This location is so charming! The outside and the inside. We need more places like this in Columbus. :) We each had different items. I ordered the afternoon tea service. Which came with 3 finger sandwiches, two small dessert items, a scone, clotted cream, and jam. The service also included a pot of tea. My sister and her friend had a bacon sandwich and a tuna sandwich, which they both said were delicious. My fiance had a quiche and some banana bread, which he stated was extremely delicious and "filling, but not too filling, just right". Everything was well priced, and I would go again for brunch! 4/5 stars because the tea tray could have had more items. The sandwiches were amazing, but I thought there could have been 1 or 2 more. Visited this quaint little establishment for lunch today after seeing an article online. I wanted to try the tea service which is served on traditional 3 tear tray with a scone with clotted cream and jam, three small finger sandwiches and 2 small desserts on top. I had a butter brickel scone which was described to taste like toffee but I thought it was more like chocolate chip. Regardless, it was delicious and so moist. The finger sandwiches were puff pastry with cheese and apricot jam, curry egg salad and cucumber dill. The dessert was a chocolate mousse and strawberry macaroon. It also came with a pot of tea. I got English breakfast. Everything tasted delicious. Between the scone and dessert the majority of lunch was very sweet. I definitely wanted more savory. My husband ordered the full size curry egg salad and let me have a few bites so that sufficed. The bread the full size sandwich came on was so good. It was light and airy and had a delicious crust. I definitely want more of that bread. The place is quite small so I'd definitely make a reservation. I did feel cramped in there. There's a small parking lot out front and street parking around. A nice little place the reminds me of my old piano teacher's house (I think it's the red-white, classically elegant theme), Cambridge offers some very delicious tea and interesting food, not to mention some fantastic scones. I dropped in on a Saturday afternoon, and apparently at a bad time. The place itself is small, and the parking lot even smaller. I ended up parked on the street, but luckily still in front of the tea house itself. I was still lucky enough to get a table inside (this was during one of the 90+ degree heat spells), though there are also a number of seats outside. The servers were very nice and helpful, easy going and happy to answer questions. No issues there. Since they were out of the quiche (it was about 1:00 so keep that in mind), I decided on a pear-and-swiss sandwich on toast with a carrot salad, and a mug of the "Paris" tea. All items were very good and very different from the stuff you usually find in restaurants and coffee shops. Let's start with the sandwich - two thick and decent sized pieces of toasted bread (that I assume was homemade), dripping with gooey melted swiss, with a hearty helping of tender pears painted with the tangy apricot dijon mustard (the apricot isn't that noticeable except to add sweetness), and enhanced by the crunch of almonds. Overall, it had a delicate and satisfyingly sweet taste, with the comfort of a grilled cheese sandwich. Sandwiches come with one side - house salad or carrot salad being the defaults - and because it was a bit different, I tried the latter. It rather reminded me of uncooked halwa, being made of shredded carrots, raisins, and a sweet dressing, and was really quite tasty. It comes in a small cup which can be a bit hard to get every piece of carrot out of without using fingers, or maybe I'm just clumsy, but is worth trying. The tea, meanwhile, was really quite fantastic. The Paris blend is said to taste of bergamot, currant, vanilla, and caramel.... and you know, it does. The currant and vanilla are the strongest tastes, though, lending a sweet dessert-like quality to the blend. And really, I probably should have just had the tea for dessert. But scones... I can't resist. So I tried a cream scone with jam and clotted cream (because you might as well pay the $1 to do it right). And yeah, I'm glad I did. The scone was quite large, with a slightly crispy outside and a super soft, rich and definitely creamy inside. Add the jam (strawberry) and cream, and you have a rich, gently sweet, and delicious treat. Prices...aren't really unreasonable for this type of food. Most of the sandwiches and salads are around $8 or $9, the scones around $2.25. Tea is and tea about that as well (for a cup. A pot is like $5 or something). It does add up, though, if you want to try everything like I did. Also, though the portions are fine and healthy, I did not leave feeling truly "full," and imagine some people with large appetites might have trouble. I think the small size of the side is the main reason I felt this way, since the sandwich itself was perfectly normal in size. The carrot salad was very good, but you really don't get very much of it. Still, especially if you're in the mood for something light, refreshing, and a bit different, the Cambridge is definitely worth giving a go. It's a great place for a nice, classy meal with your friends or a delicious scone-tea snack break. The tea house also can play host to your special events. It is possible to host parties up to 32 people, and they also offer "candlelit dinners" which sound romantic and entertaining. It also bears noting that while the atmosphere and most of the clientele are adult, the tea house also caters to the little princesses and princes with a selection of tiaras, crowns, and other frippery towards the back that kids can pick to wear while enjoying their tea and scones. It would be a great place for a little party for the girl who loves all things elegant and antique, or who just wants to play princess. Apparently they also offer cooking classes, which is something that could be a lot of fun if you lived in the area. read more

Cute little English tea house. It seems as though their lunch/afternoon tea menus are average, but I think their shining moment is in their breakfast/brunch. I went with a couple friends for Sunday breakfast and the experience was very pleasant. I ordered a large pot of English Breakfast black tea (prebrewed, but done well) as well as their Salmon Dill Quiche. I'm no quiche snob...but man do they do their quiches right. The egg filling is perfectly cooked with a good balance of cheese to egg to filling ratio. Their scones are delicious as well - bready, with a nice crispy crust, slightly flaky without being dry. The service isn't terribly fast, but they are attentive. The building is really small, so it can get a little crowded fast. Otherwise, I'll definitely come back with some friends for breakfast. read more

This place was alright. We came here for a birthday celebration and I thought it was super cute with there table settings and dessert they had for us. But I really don't think it's worth the $25+gratuity you pay. We came with a large party and we had asked the servers to rearrange the tables so we could be sitting together and they seemed annoyed by this request and tried to talk us out of it.(I think they didn't want to do the extra work) then they start you off with a carrot salad which was actaully surprisingly good and then you order your teas and then they bring out a tea platter with scones and jams, mini finger sandwich's and cupcakes. Each platter is accommodating for 3 ppl. So each person got 2 of each. The food was decent but quite expensive for the amount you get. The Valentine's Dinner was outstanding in every sense of the word. Not surprisingly, all of the baked goods were amazing, the beef tenderloin was excellent but the potatoes au gratin stole the show. Everything was perfectly seasoned. And the chocolate mousse cake was almost sinful without being overly sweet . The Valentine's tea (I'm told) was prepared with chocolate (which I tasted) and rose pedals (which I did not). I'll be back more than once! read more
