Hands down my favorite restaurants in Western MA. The food is incredible, testy and perfectly made/ seasoned. My family went to Caminito last weekend after my brother's graduation celebration at UMASS. It was a busy night in Northhampton so parking was difficult to find (they do not have a dedicated lot) but we eventually found a spot and made our way to Caminito! It's a cozy spot with a great atmosphere for a date night or special occasion. The host, Brian, was super friendly and sat us down at a round table near the front window. We had initially booked to sit outside but he moved our reservation inside due to the rainy weather! Our waitress accommodating and gave us plenty of time with our drinks before asking us to order entrees. For apps, we got the cheese board (large and delicious), the Caesar salad and the "bread salad" which was a special that night - all really yummy. Steaks were pretty good although we definitely enjoyed the filet mignon over the sirloin. The gorgonzola butter was a nice addition! We passed on desserts but they looked good! read more

Some of the best steaks I ever had were in Buenos Aires. Something about the free roaming cows, the flames in the Parrilla, the red wine, the air - I don't know but this lasting memories brought me to Caminito. I liked the ambiance, I liked the guitar playing guy, I liked the service but the food... well it ain't Buenos Aires. I had the Filet my friend had the Skewers. It was ok but... The appetizers descriptions were appetizing the appetizers themselves not so much. The bill for two was north of $100 with no drinks. To be honest, I had better Filet Mignon at the Texas Roadhouse and I paid much less. Just ain't Buenos Aires :( read more

So, this is not a review on the food since we did not get to taste it. On the contrary, it is more a comment on the attitude of the staff. I had read the reviews of the bad service, but the food seemed interesting and we both were really in the mood. So my boyfriend and I were up in the area for Valentine's Day weekend and came up on Sat/Sun from around half hour away to see if we could get a table. Even though there was an hour left before the restaurant closed, and although there were plenty of open tables (I am talking about at least ten open tables on the entry-level floor alone), the hostess very dryly told us that they were not taking any more people unless they had reservations. We explained we had driven from a far and she still rejected us. We left completely baffled and instead went to the much more hospitable Paul and Elizabeth's, just a short walking distance away. read more

Bad service, very slow, ignored by waitperson. We waited over an hour and a half for our entree, other diners who arrived 20 minutes after us were served before us. The waiter blamed the kitchen, but never came around to see if we wanted more drinks, or to clean up a spill at our table until we asked her three times! The decor is lame, the dining room cold and drafty. No table cloths, dying plants, when I spend $80 for a meal I want more than just good food. I want a good dining experience. This was awful! On the weekend of my college graduation, my family decided to take my sister and me out to dinner at Caminito for "Argentinean" steak. My sister had already been to Argentina, we had all previously tried Argentinean steak, and we were all from a Latin background. Maybe our hopes were too high. Perhaps we figured that anything that was as pricey as "El Caminito" would be nothing short of amazing. Yeah, wrong. Argentinean steak is best with its signature chimichurri sauce. My dad and my aunt asked for this sauce and the waitress that was serving us said: "uhhh, what are you saying?" You call yourself an Argentinean steakhouse? Okay... The meat was good -- well cooked, good consistency. Was it worth all the money we paid for it? Absolutely not. I have paid 1/4 of the price in an authentic Argentinean restaurant in New York. If I'm ever in Northampton, I'm not sure I would make the effort to actually spend all that money on a steak. If you're really looking for Argentinean, drive out to NYC or Boston. read more

Best steaks ever. I've now been a couple of times. The place is small, so I suggest making reservations. The service is adequate, but the waitresses have always seemed a bit nonchalant and in no rush. Wine and beer selection is small, still with something for everyone. But let's talk about the food... First, they start you off with some of the most delicious bread you've ever tasted with a flavorful chimichurri sauce for dipping. I've had two apps, the chorizo and the Provoleta. The chorizo was simply great-tasting, not too spicy sausage with more chimichurri. The proveletta was also simple - a half-inch thick, 6-inch diameter piece of grilled provolone with some oil drizzled over the top. This was absolutely delicious, but certainly you have to enjoy good cheese to enjoy this app. I would assume the asparagus wrapped in prosciutto is delicious as well because it comes as a side with a meal I've had and it is to-die-for. The Ensalada Parrillera is almost worth the trip itself. This is by far the best tomato-mozz-balsamic-pine nut salad you will ever have. Please recommend a better one if you find one. By far the best steak I have ever had is their Bife con Gorgonzola. This is a huge, perfectly-cooked on the grill slice of sirloin with gorg-butter. Words can't describe the flavors on the tongue. The chef here knows what he's doing, because every time I've ordered this entree, the steak is cooked perfectly. It also comes with asparagus wrapped in prosciutto which is amazing. I have had other great entrees here as well including the regular filet, the skewered filet and veggies, and the gnocchi. Once you have a Caminito steak, you will never want to go to an Outbook, TX Roadhouse, or other garbage chain joint ever again. read more

Located in a prime spot of Northampton's dining and shopping area, this little steakhouse packs a punch when when it comes to their service and food. Service: I cannot remember her name but a group of 12 of us had a reservation for a friends bday dinner. She took care of our whole table and she was amazing. Very quick with our orders, drinks always taken care of, and always friendly with us. Food: i was really debating one 4 or 5 stars bc of their veggie situation lol. Boyfriend and I ordered the rib eye and the sirloin Gorgonzola with empanadas as our apps. Boyfriends broccoli was not fully ready? It was extra crunchy. Almost fresh crunchy for 2 of the 5 small amount given lol give more broccoli plz. I think this is the first steakhouse I've been to that seems stingy with veggies. My asparagus was SO. SALTY. I get that it's wrapped in bacon but like holy crap. Bacon is salty. Asparagus was saltier. It was so bad. Boyfriend couldn't even eat it. Afar from the veggie mishaps, our steaks were SUPER tender and delicious! Absolutely loved it! The other same thing about my steak was when I saw other gongonzola sirloin steak pics on yelp,, there was a lot of it, but mine looked like sprinkles. I could barely taste it on my steak. Sad. The mashed potatoes were great too, but I mean.. it's hard to mess that one up. As for their empanadas.. A+. Came out piping hot, the breading was extra flaky and the inside was stuffed with meat. The food is always great and comparing Caminito to Eastside Grill, Caminito food is by far superior. HOWEVER, the reason for the 3 stars is specifically for the SERVICE. They have TERRIBLE service. They are also not accommodating. I have been coming here for 4 years and time after time, they are not friendly. On valentines a couple years ago, I came with 3 of my friends and they told us it was only for couples. When asked if we could just sit in groups of two, they said NO... (only for "couples") Another time, I wanted my birthday party held there for around 8-10 people. That could not be done either. I have been coming specifically for the steak but every time, they disappoint me with their service. I just hope management recognizes that their food is not the problem, it's their service that can drive them out of business... and that can be easily changed. read more

Finally tried out Caminito's and I've always heard good things about this place. My friend recommended ordering the steak with gorgonzola. The steak was cooked perfectly. I wasn't too impressed with the mashed potatoes though, we thought they might have been over mixed. Overall, it was a wonderful meal, especially with a nicely paired glasses of wine. We also ordered the pork chop, which was very good. The only thing I found was since it was a two bone pork chop, it was difficult to cook it evenly. The first bite was delicious, but I found that there were some parts that were a tad bit over done. The service was also very kind and knowledgable. I'd say it was good, and I would consider giving it another chance but the price is a big deterrent. read more

I will start with the excellent steak cooked perfectly to medium. I also appreciated the generous wine pours and well thought out list. The appetizers all looked very enticing and we went with the parm encrusted zucchini. It came out luke warm and the marinara seemed heavy on the salt. Entrees took about 25 minutes to come and the timeliness of each seemed to be cooked at the same time as my sides were not hot (plain broc and smashed potatoes) My fiancé's entrée definitely was the dish that took more time to cook as it was a thick cut of chicken. So cooking the steak dish secondarily would make sense, but her's came out piping hot while I had a great steak with warmish sides. I think this place has a lot potential if they stepped up the slow service and spiced up the accompanying sides. This place has a strong customer base as they were only on reservations only for a Wednesday (people were turned away at the door) but you leave thinking this could've been great. read more

My favorite thing to do while eating at Caminitos is watch all the people walk in from the street hoping to eat, and then be denied because they don't have a reservation. Don't even try to eat here without one. I have eaten here like three times throughout the years with usually no complaints, and left satisfied. The beef is the way to go, don't be adventurous and try the damn gnocchi like I did, because you'll be staring at everyone else's plates, as they enjoy each orgasmic bite of perfectly cooked steak. The moaning at the table made it sound like a porn movie was being filmed on the premise. The steak is always cooked right the way you want it. It's seasoned and has a unique smoked flavor you won't find anywhere around. I ordered the meat empanadas for an appetizer, and found them to be extremely dry. The gnocchi was very good, with a rich white cheese sauce over a surprising layer of marinara sauce. Everyone in the party of seven raved and enjoyed their meals. I asked and was told the desserts are homemade. The interior is small and intimate, and might get cramped with a full house. It can also get very loud inside with people talking, and the live guitar player they have. They have a patio, that although was closed, would be great to dine out on when the weather is better. Service was efficient, polite, and engaging. However, I have two complaints. 1. The authenticity of the menu. 2. The prices. The most "Argentinian" thing you'll find on the menu is the chimmichuri sauce. The menu is described as innovative Argentinian food, which basically means fusion. The prices, be prepared to drop some coin at this place. 9oz filet will run $28. Overall, it's a nice place for a night out. read more

I got the filet mignon (bife de lomo) and it was cooked beautifully. I couldn't stop raving about how perfectly it was cooked. Usually when I order a medium steak elsewhere, either the middle is medium and the outside is well, or the outside is medium and the inside is rare. Not the case at Caminito!! My steak was absolutely perfect, all the way through - whoever is cooking the steak at this place really knows what he's doing! I also got double starch - chive potato and scallion jasmine rice - and both were so delicious I cleaned my plate! (something I almost never do) My husband got NY Sirloin with gorgonzola (Bife con Gorgonzola), which comes with chive mashed potato and asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, and he gobbled it up. The service at Caminito is startlingly slow. We had been there a solid hour before we received our entrees, which at that point were tepid and overcooked. The side dishes were uninspiring. Went here last night with my fiancé and another couple. I want to stress that both my friend and I are vegetarians. So we NEVER eat out at steak houses! I lived in Northampton for 33 years and never even considered eating here because I wrongly assumed that this place was like all the rest. I was happily surprised to see the menu offered SEVERAL vegetarian options. Everything we ate was delicious. The service was good. i was very unimpressed with Caminito. The service was so terrible here that it detracted from any positive aspects of the dining experience. The waitstaff was so pretentious I couldn't believe it. Lighten up, Caminito! Onto the food: As another reviewer already stated- I really WAS expecting more for such steep prices. The steak I ordered was cooked perfectly medium rare, and came swimming in a neon yellow sauce that resembled heinz mustard. No offense to heinz mustard- but it was just a strange touch. We had the red wine which went nicely with the meal. I enjoyed my dinner, however I don't feel that anything I ate warrants a trip back to this place. Avoid this place. There are so many other option in Northampton- instead, head across the street to Paul and Elizabeth's (vegetarian), Lhasa Cafe (amazing yak dishes), or the Brewery behind the parking garage (amazing beer and food) or Sierra Grill (fun bar with delectable appetizers, unique drinks and great service). Walked in without a reservation a few Saturdays ago and was able to sit on their charming outdoor patio without waiting. Here is the breakdown of my experience: - Nice atmosphere outdoors along with live guitar music. - Knowledgeable and friendly service - Sangria was delicious. I ordered the red but they also have white sangria - Lobster ravioli was tasty as well as the Caesar salad - Steak was done to my liking and the chive mashed potatoes were amazing! - My girlfriend had the salmon. Very nice. I went here last weekend with some friends, and had a pleasant evening. The food was good, though a little over priced. We had the Chorizo and the esparrago con Prosciutto. $9 for Chorizo, good chorizo mind you but nine bucks is too much for what we got. The asparagus was worth is though. the breadcrumbs on this dish were what really made the dish. If you get this make sure to get a some of hte breadcrumbs on your bite. For dinner I had the the chicken Brochette. It was delicious. The chicken was tender and just salty enough. Though is was served on a bed of rice. There was no sauce on the Brochette to cover up the under -cooked, too buttery rice. Desert was a crepe filled with "homemade" dulce de leche topped with whipped cream. Very yummy. In short, a good place to spend money on good food every three months. read more

While many of the dishes seem authentically Argentinean, others were clearly designed for less adventurous palates. I'm not a huge fan of having a guitar played right next to me throughout dinner, but the music was pleasant, if loud. This is a beautiful little restaurant in the heart of Northampton, and it deserves a visit by any carnivore. You can't really go wrong with quality meat, a wood-fire grill, and some simple seasonings, and Caminito is no exception to that rule. Add a spicy Chimichurri sauce and the deal is pretty much sealed. With a wide variety of beer and wine to accompany your meal, delicious appetizers, and a wonderful atmosphere, it's not surprising that every table was full on our visit. Their prices are reasonable too; in this location with this menu I was expecting entree prices 15% higher than they were. On the negative side, a steak ordered Medium-Rare came out Medium (but still delicious and tender, so we didn't complain) and the bread, while soft and warm, was fairly bland and unremarkable (didn't seem homemade). And while they have a nice selection of wines and beer, they don't have a full bar and have a limited dessert selection. Still, we'll go back. This is one of the best patio dining spots in the area. I tried the brunch menu and really appreciated that there were creative options alongside more traditional brunch dishes. It turns out that fish for breakfast is awesome! The dinner menu is a splurge, but I think it's worth it especially if you order meat. I liked the steak with mustard sauce and little potatoes. It's just so good. My husband and I went on a Saturday, around 830. The atmosphere is very lovely! We were greeted right away and got a table! (I think if you want to eat earlier a reservation is recommended!) Our waitress was very friendly and took wonderful care of us! The steak with potatoes is great, but that mustard sauce really brings it home. It's incredible. This is the perfect spot for a date night (especially with Harrell's right across the street)! It's a carnivore's paradise. Good food, good service, good wine. If you're in Northampton or in a neighboring town for the weekend, definitely carve out some time to check this place out. I think they have outdoor seating in the summer, but really if you get no other takeaway from this review, remember the mustard sauce. read more

Despite numerous empty tables our appetizer took more than an hour. Our meal came out 20 minutes later and all the steak was over cooked. Medium rare was no blood nearly pink. Medium was burnt on the outside and tough. Definitely not worth the money. We will never return. read more

The staff was friendly and very helpful without being fake. I had the Bifi Con Gorgonzola and it was amazing! It was cooked perfectly! And unlike many better restaurants, the portion was generous. The asparagus wrapped in prosciutto was something I'd eat as a main course it was so good. The mashed potatoes which came with the meal gave it great balance without overwhelming! I wish there was a 0 star review. The worst experience i have had in a long time. Had the bread (which was extra) and had a mere glimpse of oil to dip in. tasted like salsa with extra extra oil. Terrible. Then i had the Caesar salad. Which was also an OD of oil. Don't even bother unless you're low on vegetable intake. Then i got the filet mignonette. This was hardly anything to ever even attempt to eat. Hard to cut, hard to chew. I go medium rare, which shouldn't be hard to do. I'll give them that, the way they cooked their slab of fat was definitely medium rare. The side of potatoes literally looked like they took two potatoes and a melon baller to it. I also received whatever else was fried in the last hour, including the old chunks of breading and grease. I've never left somewhere without tipping a dime. But this was something that changed my life. The worst experience ever. They didn't even bring water or attempt to fill our drinks. (AFTER BEING ASKED) never again. This was one of my favorite restaurants to visit over the past 7 years. After last night i will NEVER go back. Living more than 30 minutes from Northampton we drive up specifically to visit this establishment. I hadn't visited in quite some time because they had taken my favorite appetizer off the menu. Double grilled veal sweatbreads. To my delight i saw they were back in the menu so i made a reservation. We arrived at 630 for our reservation and the were 2 other tables that arrived at the same time. We were all quickly seated by the server. Thats when i noticed she was the only server here. Now she has 8 tables 3 which just sat. Everytime i have come here my wife has always gotten the red sangria. They make good sangria. Now it's seasonal. The bread used to come with there version of chumichuri in a descent size glass dish. Today a half filled small metal ramekin. When the veal sweatbreads arrived i could barely distinguish where they were. Its like they were going hunting lost in some mixed rotten greens. I had to use my phone flashlight to see if it was pesto because there was no lighting above the sliding glass door area where we were sat. Nope that's not pesto its decaying lettuce. Very small portion for 15.00. We both got the filet with mustard sauce and potatoes as it was in the top 5 steak entrees ive ever had. Today we got maybe a 5oz very CHARRED filet way over cooked and a runny mustard sauce that was had a very potent mustard flavor. We both ate it as the server was very busy and didn't have time to do much but get orders in and out. Creme brulee is one of my favorites for dessert. There was barley any creme brulee in the dish. My after dinner drink may have been a one ounce pour. Nothing about my expectations were met based on the other 30 or so times I have been here in the past. Portions were ridiculous for the price and none of the food was executed properly. Service was ok for how busy she was. For the prices you pay one would expect things to be exeptional. Whats up with the new bar that no one sat at with some guy looking like a bum in a pixies shirt. Somewhat of a nice establishment dress the part. Such a disappointment! read more

We had a res for outside seating, but because it was rainy and cool, we chose to sit inside and were seated in the corner in the back right hand side. It was dark and a bit suffocating and very close to the next table. We ordered different steak dishes and all were excellent and delivered exactly as ordered. I would recommend this spot for the food, but I personally wouldn't return unless I could sit outside on the patio (which could use some flowers or something to liven up the decor.) Note: They don't offer a non-alcoholic beer choice. A suggestion would be to stock at least one brand, (preferably German and not O'doul's which seems to be popular but in fact is the worse tasting n/a beer out there!) read more

Caminito is pricey, but worth it. Our service was phenomenal and our waiter gave us a great wine recommendation. Heck, he even offered to host us were we to ever visit Puerto Rico! My wife and i both had steak based dishes and they were incredibly flavorful and cooked precisely to order. Lots of great vibes here.
