I have been visiting Camp 18 for many years, and have fond childhood memories of stopping here on the way to the coast. The atmosphere here is the biggest reason to stop, both inside and outside. There are plenty of historical logging-related items around to look at and read about, and the inside of the lodge itself has such a great feel of stepping back in time and really understanding the soul of the place. This is very Pacific Northwest. It's hard to describe the sheer size of these giant logs, you just have to stand next to them. I have always had positive experiences with the friendly waitstaff, and restrooms have been clean (at the very least, far cleaner than anywhere nearby). There is a small gift-shop area here too (very small area but with useful things like mugs and hats) so if you forgot to get a keepsake at the beach you have another chance to find a good one. I would put the food at a solid 3-star "okay". It is all good, it's just mostly very typical diner-food that you could get anywhere. On this visit I got a BLT on sourdough with fries; normally I do a burger with a slice of marionberry pie (one of the few menu items I'd consider a local specialty). They were happy to do a to-go order, and I enjoyed my meal outdoors while admiring the beautiful nearby forested areas. In summary, this is a must-stop if you're in the area, just know that you aren't necessarily there for the food. read more

I called in the order, picked it up 10 minutes later, and I'm still confused how the fries were freezing cold, soggy and the tuna sandwich soaked. Plus Diet Pepsi? Just no. Even if they cooked it immediately when I called it in it couldn't have been like that, right? Will give them points though, for the fun ambiance and the quick service. read more

This place has amazing food. We stopped in on our trip from Kansas City to Seaside Beach, and we were rather pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. Our order was taken within a minute of being seated, and our food came out within ten minutes of ordering. We ordered hot chocolates, pancakes, cinnamon roll French toast, clam chowder as well as the razor clam breakfast. Everything we ordered was above expectations, and the serving sizes were very generous. We ended up happily taking plenty of leftovers for the road. Beautiful atmosphere and very attentive waitresses. We will be stopping in again on our next trip out this way! read more

Food was poorly made and not nicest place to eat at because of the staff. If you're a person of color I don't recommend eating here. The people that reside in the area along with the staff aren't color folk friendly. I was refused service because of my appearance and was told I had been watched since walking in. I dozed off while waiting for my food due to fishing at 5am which they didn't care about. They treated me as if I was on drugs and was going to rob the place/ dine and dash. The service was good. Though it was fairly busy, we were quickly seated and our server promptly took our order. Two of the four people in our party ordered the country fried steak. The servings were substantial. Both country fried steaks were well seasoned and enjoyable. The potatoes that accompanied one meal were well cooked, though the potatoes on the other plate were under-cooked and hard. Definitely inconsistent quality from plate to plate. My daughter's cinnamon roll was enormous...practically the size of her head. She described it as the "best ever". It was big enough that she will have leftovers for days. The ambiance was casual and lumberjack in style.There were some maintenance issues which took slightly away from the overall experience. In particular, the table was wobbly and the 2nd toilet in the ladies room was disconcertingly unstable. When we mentioned the latter to the server, the server noted that this had been an ongoing issue, having been repaired several times. read more

A family tradition to pass through here for those famous cinnamon rolls. Fare is pretty standard but portions are very generous. Service was quick. Waitress was very nice. Ambience is warm and cozy inside. Outside are bird feeders, a water powerhouse, and even an elephant sculpture by the creek. I was very disappointed by pretty much everything at this restaurant. The French dip I ordered was not only a sad excuse for any meat sandwich, there was like no meat on it at all and it was $18. Service and ambiance was great! LOVED the decor and walking around outside to see all the old machinery was really neat! Food was ok. We ordered a kids hamburger and a chicken avacado salad. We went to Camp 18 for lunch on Tuesday, 12 November 2024. Approximately half of the restaurant was not available for dining, the maximum number of diners during our lunch was less than 2 dozen. The food was ok, nothing great. When we tried to get the check our server ignored us. My wife finally went to the host island to ask for the check. This was while at least six servers ignored us. If you want mediocre, expensive food and horrible service: Camp 18 is the place to go. read more

Camp 18 is a great spot to stop for a bite to eat on your way to or from the coast. We'd meant to stop for years (we drive through to look at the logging equipment which is worth the time as well!) but never made it until last week, and it was well worth the stop. Staff was friendly, the restaurant was clean, and it has a ton of character with its carvings and massive wooden beams. The breakfast was excellent as well, including the massive cinnamon roll our party shared. (When they say huge they mean huge.) The portions in general are large, so be prepared. Some reviews mention declining quality or wait times. We went at peak breakfast time on a weekend and were seated quickly with no other patrons in our space. Service was fast and efficient, and we got to watch the cute critters outside on the deck from our window seat. Definitely make time in your next beach trip for a stop! read more

The food is consistently good. Wait times are a bit longer than usual but that is to be expected at the moment with COVID affecting staffing everywhere. Masking is required u less eating or drinking- there are signs up at the entrance stating this. It IS NOT being enforced, however, not even by their own staff. Talk about disrespectful and actually, against current state laws. Our waitress was very happy to get in everyone's space with a mask hanging around her neck. Their open kitchen was a viewpoint into other co workers removing their masks as well and what appeared to be a manager doing the same. A family favorite for years seems to be in a bit of trouble. The prices have dramatically increased - understandable considering Supply-Chain issues and a challenging economy. Once seated, it took 15 minutes for somebody to take our orders. After another 15 minutes, we had seen nobody and still had no water or drinks, so we left. It was odd, as the servers and bus staff were meandering around with little sense of urgency. Advice: If you want to survive a tough economy that has forced you to raise your prices, you need to provide basic service. read more

Trout breakfast and Razor clams breakfast was liked. Biscuits gravy great. Neither myself or my son liked the chicken fried steak or potatoes. The chicken fry was burned, its hand battered but burned and the potatoes are either sautéed or if requested crispy they just deep frying them. My trout was ok but only vegtables offered were peas and carrots which are not good for a keto diet so, they let me sub a salad. My wife had chicken fried steak that was tasteless. Great place to stop for lunch or dinner on Hwy 26 going to or from the beach. Beautiful log construction. Big dining room. Quick and caring servers. Yummy food. The menu is slightly above the level of diner food. I had the grilled cheese with avocado/tomato and a side salad that was fresh and not iceberg lettuce. My husband had liver and onions which was perfectly cooked, tender, and came with a side of mashed potatoes/gravy. Plenty of interesting logging memorabilia to look at while waiting for food. As the name suggests this is a thing camp themed restaurant. In fact, restaurant is an understatement. It's a camp, with a massive log cabin compound (containing both restaurant and gift shop) and lots of old logging equipment on the grounds. I mean big equipment including railroad cars and stream skidders and such. It's kind of a logging museum really. Food is standard American breakfast and burgers and such. Nothing special, but all decently prepared. Standard American coffee in the Folgers tradition (i.e. not fancy). They leave you your pen carafe so you don't have to wait on refills, which I always appreciate. Despite being an obvious tourist attraction there is a solid local contingent eating here. read more

Camp 18 is as much a destination as it is a restaurant. We have stopped a few times on the way to the coast to enjoy a hearty breakfast and recently spent a little extra time looking around. The old logging equipment is interesting, the gardens and stream behind the restaurant are charming. Our favorite outdoor scene was the deck housing large bird feeders. We were lucky enough to have a table by these windows so the little ones really enjoyed watching the beautiful birds enjoying their breakfast along side of us. The interior is absolutely beautiful, like an impressive, rustic log cabin. For breakfast we ordered way too much food, but entrees are huge here, so if you don't want to bring food home, consider sharing. I, of course, had to try the giant cinnamon roll and it was fresh, hot and delicious. Perfection. I also wanted a savory bite so ordered a side of home fries which covered an entire entrée sized plate. The potatoes were somewhat cold, so slightly disappointed but shared both these dishes and they were enjoyable. Also ordered at our table was the biscuit and gravy, the waffle and pancakes. The biscuit and gravy was also not very hot, but the flavors were great. Overall we enjoyed the experience and would enjoy trying some other meals at this unique restaurant again. read more

DISCLAIMER: I came here after hiking Saddle Mountain. I was ravenous. I wanted food and was ready to eat everything and anything. Having said this, I still firmly believe this was pretty good food in its own right! The hubby and I started with the massive cinnamon roll they're so famous for. It is indeed the size of a dinner plate. Absolutely massive. I ate about 1/6 of it, but the 1/6 I ate was very good. You can skip the outer layer of the roll, it's all a thick layer of doughy bread. But the inner layers are gooey, warm, and filled with cinnamon sugar. I settled on the patty melt, which came on rye bread with Swiss and grilled onions. It was SO GOOD but very rich and after my cinnamon roll portion I could only eat half. The fries were some of the best I've ever had. Twice fried, perhaps? Super crispy and delicious. The service was friendly and quick. I'll definitely stop by whenever I'm out there. read more
