This restaurant is a QR only restaurant and unfortunately we are against this type of restaurant but were in a pinch for time. Environment was nice, we ate outside. We ordered a cheeseburger, a grilled cheese and a side Caesar salad with two beers. The beers took a while to come out which was unfortunate because we wanted to sit and enjoy them while waiting for our food. Maybe they were understaffed. Understandable. The ordering site wasn't working on my husband's phone so we had to use mine. You have to pay and tip before you even recieve service which was odd to us. Once we recieved our food, I wanted some pepper but nobody ever came around to ask how it was or if we needed anything and there were no condiments on any of the tables. We ate our lunch and when we were done I wanted to take home half of my grilled cheese but again, nobody ever came around to check on us to ask for a to go box. None of the tables were bussed and when we were leaving a woman was in need of a table for her party so we took our dirty dishes and placed them on another dirty table so that she could sit at our table. Food was ok, what they didn't tell us is that it came with a mandatory 3% "living wage" fee, plus tax plus another 3% credit card fee - and of course they want a tip. Seriously, the theft by restaurants today is unbelievable. These fees aren't disclosed, that means I am being charged more than the advertised price. My fiancée and I have been on a little diet, so we have decided that when we're traveling, we only order one entree and a side and share. We got the rotisserie chicken and the camp fries. This was probably the juiciest chicken I've ever had in my life. The only thing I didn't like was that although the skin part was hot, the meat wasn't hot anymore when we ate it. It was still very good though, which is why I'm not taking a star off. The fries were to die for. You know how you can taste the freshness in certain food? I definitely tasted that with their fries here, as well as the side salad that came with our chicken. The fingerling potatoes were also quite good. It's located next door to the Desert Pearl Inn so if you're staying there you can just walk over. I had just done the Narrow's hike and worked up QUITE the appetite. I wanted something fast and filling but also tasty and casual since I was exhausted. I found Camp Outpost on Yelp and made my way over. It was perfect. It's a casual counter service spot but the food is elevated. The self describe as "camp fare" and you'll find hearty dishes like rotisserie chicken, pork roast, and sausages. Thinks you can imagine are easily cooked over a fire! They also have sandwiches and salads rounding out the menu. I went with their fried chicken sandwich which came with a side of fries. I also saw an order of their crispy brussels sprouts go by and added a plate to my order. It's under the shareables portion of the menu and it was a shareable portion, indeed! Way more than I could eat by myself, even at a calorie deficit from my hike! The chicken sandwich was also SO good. Perfectly crispy but not greasy or heavy feeling. It was served with pickled red onions, arugula, pickles, and a spicy aioli on a brioche bun. The aioli had a slight kick to it but it wasn't VERY spicy, which was good for a weakling like me. If you want more oomph maybe ask them for some hot sauce. The best part? Once i was done eating I could roll my way to my hotel without having to wait to settle up the bill. I was rudely told to get up from my seat while my husband was ordering food literally already paying at cash register. Never felt so uncomfortable. As many national park we have been to we have never had a bad experience with customer service. I may suggest you have a please wait to be seated in front of the store or blocking the entrance to the dining area to avoid the awkwardness of being asked to get up from your table simply because I did not have a number on my table.
