I ordered the BBQ salad with aforementioned shredded pork. What a masterpiece of a salad. Plenty of juicy shredded pork, lots of real bacon pieces, mixed greens, cheddar cheese, cabbage, tomatoes and onions in perfect harmony! Pour that BBQ sauce and ranch all over, and you have yourself just the ticket after hiking 7 miles! My hubby snagged the pork verde crepes which he loved too. Check out the pics! MeMe went out of her way to find me a size small t-shirt that is beautifully screenprinted with a design that celebrates both Zion Canyon and MeMe's! Check them out! Unfortunately, it was a tad too big for me but they probably have your size. The meal was very reasonable for Zion/Springdale. We ate at the Red Rock Grill at the Lodge the night before. This meal was superior and half the price. The menu here is creative and unique. I loved this lil café with a lot of clocks, a bit of funk, and a thoroughly engaging owner in MeMe herself!! Go here for a yummy dining adventure when you are sick of the same ole overpriced steak and fish.

One of the best steaks I've had in a casual spot like this. Everything felt fresh and housemade, portions were generous, and the vibe is chill and welcoming. If you're in the area (or making a trip!), do yourself a favor and hit up Whiptail Grill. We'll definitely be back next time we're around - craving that chimichurri ribeye already! I usually don't write reviews, but my recent experience at this place left me incredibly disappointed. We waited in line for half an hour, patiently hoping to place our order. However, right when it was finally about to be our turn, the staff suddenly announced that the order taker needed to take a 30-minute break and wouldn't be able to take any more orders until afterward. This announcement wasn't directed to just us but to several groups of customers waiting behind us as well. While I understand that employees need breaks, this should be managed more professionally. For instance, a proper schedule or a second staff member should have been available to cover such situations. Leaving multiple customers in line without any warning, only to inform us at the last minute, felt very inconsiderate and poorly organized. If the management doesn't address this, it's hard to imagine coming back again, even if the food is great. The experience left a sour taste before we even got a chance to try anything. read more

From the welcoming voices at the front desk to the helpful waiters, my experience has been nothing short of perfect. Not only was the service amazing, but this was perhaps the best food to ever touch my soft, tender taste buds. From the juicy special camp sauce to the fruit fresh from the garden, the burger was nothing short of amazing. Came for breakfast but they have a very limited menu. Lots of little things add up to a bad review. No cream or half & half for coffee just coffee mate, toast was not buttered and we had to request it, butter was hard and very cold so it was not possible to spread on the toast that was not hot. Bacon was ok but covered in a lot of grease, not drained at all from the pan. Had a black grease type substance on the side of the plate (Mettel tray they good is served on) and I sent it back. They just put it on a new plate and said it was from the pan. Not acceptable in my opinion. No salt or pepper unless you ask. No fill up on coffee. I would not recommend for breakfast. After 3 days of hiking with my very best friends, we needed a snack and beverage. It was that sweet spot between lunch and dinner that my family refers to as linner. We opted to get every app on the menu as well as a round of margaritas. All was good! Nothing disappointed. The Brussels were spectral well as the guac. The staff was prompt and friendly. It's our 12th trip to Springdale and we've seen many restaurants come and go. Camp Outpost is the newest MUST! Fabulous outdoor seating with misting machines--so necessary with 100+ degree temps. The food was outstanding- fried chicken sandwich, rotisserie chicken Caesar, and kid burgers were a hit! Ryan and Olivia spoiled us with attention and efficiency. We walked in and after waiting 10-15 minutes from one family ordering, they told us that it would be an hour to an hour and a half wait for the food to come out. Let me preface this review by saying this restaurant is not for people who want a traditional…read morerestaurant dining experience. Buffalo Trails/Cactus Room is a place for the adventurous, the courageous, and the patient. This is the kind of establishment where a French family of tourists walked in, took a quick look and immediately walked out. This is a restaurant that only has a hand written signboard for a menu and doesn't have a dessert menu at all. Instead, the proprietor announces the available desserts (all handmade by him) during the meal to the whole restaurant. This is a direct quote: "I made this pie for the first time ever today and I thought it was great" in reference to a lemon meringue pie if I remember correctly. This is a restaurant I'm not sure deserves a 1 star review or a 5 star review. We were not intending to eat dinner here at all but we saw the "Bob's famous buffalo burgers" sign in the window and Nick at the smoothie place in the parking lot convinced us to go after we asked about the burgers. The Trading Company/Restaurant is run by chef/owner "One-eyed" Bob (he unfortunately lost an eye in a car accident) and his one "waitress", dual citizen and possible felon* AJ, who, 5 minutes after we entered the establishment, had to run out to settle two arrest warrants relating to overdue traffic infractions. She provides basically no service - we never got water during our meal, she put in an extra burger order for us that we never ordered, and she disappeared for multiple long stretches (with Bob asking us where she went), etc. But I suppose that's forgivable given how flustered she was? Bob, on the other hand, is exceptionally friendly and talks to every customer like an old friend. There were two other groups in the restaurant with us, one from the Netherlands, another from Michigan, and he treated all of us like old pals. With all that being said, the food here is absolutely delicious. Everything is made fresh to order - the potatoes are hand cut and fried, the burger patties are hand shaped and charred, the vegetables are sliced to order, etc. Buffalo Burger ($16.50) - Crisp lettuce, fresh sliced tomato and onion, and mayo makes a simple burger. The buffalo patty doesn't taste like any buffalo meat I've had in the past. It's barely gamey, but instead is mixed with seasoning that enhances the umami qualities to the max. It's served literally with a puddle of rendered fat/grease right on top of the patty. It's surprisingly great for dipping the fries in. The fries are hand cut, single fried, and are surprisingly good. They are pale but have a lightly crisp exterior and tender interior. I don't normally like single fried fries (ala In-N-Out), but these are superior to those sad and limp fries. The fries are salted perfectly and have a flavor that can't be beat. I'm thinking Bob fries these in rendered beef trimmings or something because they are delicious. (5/5) Wagyu Burger ($16.50) - We did not order this, but it was forced upon us and ended up on the bill afterwards. Everything in this burger is the same as the Buffalo other than the burger patty, which size-wise is smaller after cooking due to much of the fat rendering out. I was originally very skeptical of the concept of a wagyu burger - why waste such a perfectly good cut of steak just to grind it up into a burger? What happens to all the fat? Well now I know. This burger is super turbo charred, similar to the kind of charring that can be found in a perfectly lacy smashburger. The seasoning is different from the Buffalo burger, giving a superb umami and meaty quality that isn't too salty. It's a beefy and amazingly flavorful seasoning. I'm not sure what's in it but it gives so much umami and a huge burst of flavor with every bite. But AJ's distress seemed to be too real to be an act. Do not visit expecting normal table service. The burgers for all 3 parties arrived at the same time. We actually saw the party from Michigan walk into the restaurant 15-20 minutes before us while we were waiting for smoothies outside. The first party from the Netherlands went in even earlier. It took us 30 minutes to get our food, so those first customers were probably waiting close to an hour. With all that being said, these were honestly some of the best burgers I've eaten in my entire life. I have no idea what Bob does to them to make them so delicious. Bathrooms - One unisex room in the trading post/art section. The main chef (and owner) was hilarious when he shouted out the dessert menu across the room. The menu is on a whiteboard and our server explained it to us before we got seated. I had the chipotle chicken breast which was moist, tasty and filling. I also tried my partners bison burger which was very good. We got a few homemade desserts to share - Chocolate brownie, apple pie, cherry pie, coconut cream pie. My favorites were the coconut cream pie and the chocolate brownie. A nice evening out. I would come back again.

Since we were staying in a hotel nearby, we decided to give it a try for a weekday dinner. The interior is large enough that I can't imagine them actually ever filling the space with enough customers. There's plenty of seating and a strange empty expanse right in the middle of the restaurant. The building has a cold, impersonal but modern interior complete with LVP flooring. Walking up to the restaurant, the exterior smells like fryer oil. Unfortunately, the interior has a terrible chemical smell, like the adhesive on the LVP flooring hadn't been completely aired out. This restaurant is over a year old but it somehow still smells like fresh flooring. The fumes were way too strong for my tastes and I ended up having to order my food to go. Deluxe Chicken Sandwich, Crispy Combo ($17.49) - The sandwich includes a buttered and toasted bun, toasted on both sides, a slice of tomato, slaw, pickles, three chicken fingers, and Sugar Knoll's special sauce slathered on the bottom bun. The chicken fingers seem to be freshly breaded and fried in house. It's a lighter scraggly batter that gives a softer crisp rather than hard crunch and it's dusted with salt, pepper, and seasoning salt. They only use white meat chicken and the chicken isn't over done, so the interior isn't dried out. The sandwich is kind of a mess to eat given the three separate pieces of meat that have a tendency to fall out while biting in. I'm actually surprised at the quality of the fingers - I assumed a middle of nowhere restaurant would use commercial chicken strips! Sugar Knoll's special sauce is unfortunately subpar. It's like they took all the condiments they could find and mixed them together into a gloopy mess. The thing is - it's not even mixed very well! There are white splotches of mayo dressing the reddish color of the rest of the sauce. It has an off-putting flavor - heavily acidic with vinegar, yet smoky, like liquid smoke and hot sauce are mixed in. I wanted something to dip the fries in while eating, but I ended up having to throw out the extra cup of sauce they gave. The combo comes with seasoned crinkle cut fries. The fries are... interesting. Most are pale white, some being undercooked a bit making the inside firmer than fluffy potato. The fries aren't fried long enough to puff open the starches, which makes them damp and soggy inside. At least they aren't overly seasoned. I'm surprised they messed up the fries given the quality of the chicken fingers. Sugar Knoll is definitely a mixed bag. Their fried chicken is surprisingly good. Unfortunately everything else they serve seems to be an afterthought. Bathrooms - Two unisex rooms

Anything with brisket (pizza and burger) our family thought was good, and the pizzas in general were decent. However, I had the roasted chicken and although I appreciated that they had a healthy option, it wasn't that good, and the vegetables tasted like frozen veggies. To order, you go up to the ordering stand and place your order with the staff. They give you a number for your table and the food is brought out to you. they have a lot of larger tables for groups of 6 or so. Afterward you bus your own table by bringing your dishes and trash to a bin and trash area. It feels kind of cafeteria style but like I said it's very convenient. We only ate here once for dinner but we often dropped by to fill our water bottles and get ice.
