Fully committed to the camping theme, as seen by the vessel of water you get - they've hit the nail on the head with the decor and the ambiance. The drinks were inventive - unlike any I'd seen before! I had Off The Trail and my wife had a Stargazer. It's been a few weeks since I have been and all I can remember is that the totchos, the totes were not as warm / hot / crispy as I like so the toppings made them soggy right away. The food was good and drinks were great. But service was not good at all. Definitely wasn't worth it. I should've just got up and left on how he looked at us when we walked into the place. The bartender Mauricio wasn't welcoming and just made it seem like a bad vibe once we walked in. He also was our waitress. When we got seated, had our menus , then brought us water. Then came back asked us basic questions, like what we wanted to drink? I told him what i wanted to drink and my uncle ordered food. He brought my drink, and then my uncle asked if he could get the same drink as me , he just said sure and walked off like he was irritated abt that , he then brought the drink and I ordered food as well which was short convo , like he wanted to get it over with. After that , I'm so serious we didn't get serviced, he only then brought out our food. Then there was another waitress in there a lady , sitting on her computer when we walked in and she didn't service us at all, greet us or nothing. She was focused on the couple at the bar, bringing out other people's food. Mind you that was the only couple at the bar and there was two couples and a group of people, then us in the restaurant. There was no, "how was your food" to us ... yes, they asked other people how their food was multiple times , even if they needed pepper lol. They didn't attend us at all. We had to get up and ask if we could have ketchup , after my uncle was waving in front Mauricio saying "excuse me" and he I guess didn't hear him. It just was not welcoming or friendly. There was no conversation towards us. They were conversing with everybody else inside the restaurant but us and when we confronted Mauricio about that, he basically shut us off , I couldn't believe it. Then he only says "sorry you feel like that" and said that "he tries to treat his customers all the same" , "I hope you have a better time next time" but he did not treat us no type of way that was the same. I had been in there before for the first time by myself, I been living this area and recently turned 21 so I've been trying out new places. My experience the first time , came off similar at first when I came in. I felt like he was looking at me weird when I walked in as well, but then he was cool when we were at the bar. I brought my uncle in there cause I recommended the restaurant. It was nice and I like the drinks and the food was decent so I don't know what the change was, but it definitely was giving some type of discrimination. It was not friendly or welcoming and it just wasn't a good time being in there. Immediately after we finished our food and drink that was that, we left. We felt like there was no type of sympathy towards us when we confronted the situation, I felt like they weren't happy with our presence was very uncomfortable, mind you I was thinking and talking so good about this place then get treated like this by the same person wow ... it was just not good. We were impressed with the decor of this restaurant. It's not a big space but they did a great job committing to the PNW camping theme. It's a dimly-lit 21+ bar/restaurant that makes a great date spot. We were able to order from the happy hour menu. We got the smoked salmon dip, peri peri fried cauliflower & burger w/tots. The burger was amazing and tots were perfectly fried. We loved the taste of the cauliflower as well. The smoked salmon dip was kind of a waste of money. We received a small hot plate of the dip with seeded crackers. It barely tasted like salmon & mostly cream cheese. We also ordered the smores for dessert and that was fun! Unfortunately the graham crackers were stale and the Theo dark chocolate was too thick to melt down and too bitter for smores. Milk chocolate would have been alot better. Overall we had a great experience and our server Sonja was THE best! She made our experience amazing and we got lucky having her as our server. read more

My hubby and I came here a few weeks ago for a date night. The camping theme was so fun and well integrated into the restaurant. Our server was so great, friendly & helpful in choosing items. We wanted to try everything! We ordered a couple of apps (one was the cheese dip), and they were ok, nothing extraordinary but not bad. I wish we had skipped the apps for the main courses - those were exceptional! The prices were so reasonable we thought the entrees would be on the small side - don't make that mistake! I had the mushroom cassoulet, and I'm still dreaming about it. Top it off with the smores, and you've got a night of camping, and you won't smell like campfire smoke for 2 days! read more

Camp West is just what West Seattle needed. Friendly bartenders, delicious food, awesome prices and good atmosphere with a fun concept. They even have a gluten free crispy chicken sandwich! I can honestly say I haven't had anything GF like that in years- you get so bored of salads or burgers wrapped in lettuce (as a person with a wheat allergy). House wine is $8 and even their cocktails are decently priced (with the majority being $11 or $12). Hope they expand their menu a little more with time. Would be awesome to have chili w/ skillet cornbread or even camp foil packets... stuff that you love when camping! Their cheese dip was bomb too. If you haven't been yet, get there soon! read more

Solid new restaurant with some really great choices for celiac! They don't put any gluten in their fryer, and the fried chicken sandwich is rice flour. Had a green salad with crab( all Gluten free) and the fried chicken sandwich on GF bun. The tots were also celiac safe! I would highly recommend skipping the bun tho it fell apart after two bites and I ended up just knife and forking the chicken cause it's a huge piece! Then we got s'mores at the table and gluten free graham crackers were available! It was so fun! Would absolutely come back. Great service and atmosphere. read more

Just tried Camp West. I saw they encourage reservations, but I walked in without one, at 5:00 on a Friday. The little table I wanted by the window had a 6:30 reservation but I promised I'd be done by then, so they sat me there. Friendly seating host and wait staff. I asked if drinks were on happy hour but they are not. Tried one of the specialty cocktails, Sweaty Lumberjack, yum! I wasn't in the mood for typical happy hour food, even though I came during happy hour, so I ordered the quinoa and chickpea salad, which was absolutely delicious. The dressing is light, which I like. I ordered the small size and some crostini, which was perfect for a light, early evening meal. Service was exceptional, but the restaurant was still relatively empty at the hour I arrived, so that might be why. I can't speak for their busy times. The staff are very dedicated, so I would expect you would get good service no matter when you went. Cutesy camping theme: the water is brought in a thermos, there's camping paraphernalia on the walls, some of the tables have camp chairs to sit on. Big trophy elk head on the wall behind the bar, which is not my thing, but oh, well. Friendly vibe, music on the speakers but not so loud that it's intrusive. Met my best friend there for dinner not too long ago. I loved the ambience and the service was incredibly friendly. Drinks may have taken a moment- remember to breathe when there's 8 thirsty monsters at the bar and a lone bar tender. I can't wait to go back. I know some people may be upset that this a 21 and up place- but get over that. Sometimes it's nice to eat without screaming kids and food everywhere from the energetic people who still attend elementary school. We went to Camp West because it was a new restaurant in our neighborhood and I was curious what went in where West 5 used to be. Oh my! I was so happy I almost cried. I missed West 5 SO MUCH during the pandemic. That was my favorite place from the past to go with my boyfriend and sit at the bar and talk. Well, the bar is still there! And so are some of the staff and the same great owner. Amazing! Aside from the fact that the bar didn't disappear, we loved the whole new atmosphere, menu & theme. I knew before we went that I wanted S'mores and that was indeed both fun & yummy. (They provide Theo chocolate!). The menu is simple and nothing is over $26. That's pretty rare these days. I loved my chicken entree. Great flavor. My boyfriend loved his gnocchi. read more

As the Junction sorely needed an appropriate replacement to the storied West 5, I was excited to try Camp West and was fortunate enough to experience an early preview. This new spot has a Pacific Northwest cabin retreat vibe with food and cocktails that are most definitely more refined than rustic. The inside feels so much roomier than West 5 and more open. It was not very loud, though a bit dark. But I felt as if the dimness added to the cabin-and-fireplace ambiance. Though, some might find the camp theme...ahem...campy, I actually found it quite charming and creative. For example, our charcuterie platter came in a Plano tackle box and our table water came in a stylish Stanley thermos. Another lauded departure from the previous establishment is that Camp West has a deep frier!!!! (Those who have always had a craving for french fries to accompany their West 5 sandwiches in the past will understand, but more on that later). My cocktail, dubbed "One-Eyed Squirrel," was accompanied by a floating eyeball garnish. It was a gin drink that was both simple and refreshing. And as a bonus, you can keep the eyeball! I ordered the gluten-free crunchy chicken sandwich with gluten-free bun. And as someone who is still mourning the loss of Ma'ono's beautifully crispy and crunchy gluten-free fried chicken, Camp West's sandwich is an absolute welcome delight. The oversized chicken crunches loudly in your mouth and then quickly melts into an incredible umami blend. It paired well with the tater tots and house-made dill-infused ranch dressing, to create a complimentary crunch-earthy combo. Yes, thank god for Camp West having a deep fryer because this combo alone makes it so worthwhile! My dinner companion had the steelhead, and I almost but not quite regretted my choice because the fish was prepared so well! Juicy, moist and with the perfect fresh, "trouty" flavor. The steelhead dish also came with fingerling potatoes, another excellent combination. When I go back, I'll probably get the steelhead to eat in and the chicken sandwich to go! For those who have mourned the loss of West 5, worry not! This is a worthy successor, and many of the folks involved with West 5 are now owners/managers of this new project. I should know, my sister Toni Uy is one of the co-owners! Yes, this review might be biased. But, I promise you, try the entrees and drinks I have tried, come in and see for yourself, Camp West truly is the real deal, hopefully on its way to become a West Seattle institution read more

What a welcoming place! From the minute we walked in we felt like family. Our service was flawless! And the food was totally inventive, really loved the special McRib sandwich! Both the host/server (Toni) and Bartender were quick to supply drinks, food, and refills. There was a genuine spirit of hospitality and appreciation for all of the customers. What a fun and delicious meal! Not only is the PNW camping theme appealing, the menu, quality of food and service has created a new favorite West Seattle eatery. We started with cocktails and the smoked salmon dip and crackers which arrived piping hot and was perfect for four of us. Two of us had the mushroom cassoulet which is one of my new favorite restaurant entrees. So delicious! And the salad with the crispy shallots that came with the cassoulet was not a typical green salad. So much flavor! We finished with an order of s'mores.
