Wow the food tastes extremely fresh, most notably all the veggies in their appetizers. My favorite dish was the half cooked asparagus appetizer served with burrata and pine nuts, such a beautiful bite that came together. Service was quick and we were able to make a reservation. Also a cute theme and aesthetic that I haven't seen before, would recommend this for a nice dinner out

Really enjoyed my recent work dinner here at this restaurant that has American/Californian cuisine. The ambiance was cute and cozy and the service was fast. I had to adjust the party size and timing and there were very accommodating. We started with the olives, cornbread and brussel sprouts with the crispy Brussels being the highlight as they were seasoned very well. For my main dish- I had the pork ragu pasta which I enjoyed. Note that the Bolognese sauce was a bit on the creamier side. I'll definitely be back!

Camper is an incredible spot to grab a bite. The food that they serve is both comforting and exciting. Unique flavor combinations, but prepared in a way that feels like a family's home cooked meal. I came here to celebrate a special occasion with work colleagues, so I got to try a lot of different food, and I have to say, almost everything was fantastic. The only dishes I wasn't fond of were more geared towards vegetarians. Either way, I'd highly recommend this place if you want to have something a bit more elevated for a special occasion.

The entire experience felt like dining at a high-end restaurant attached to a hotel. Every single dish we ordered was absolutely delicious. Our waiter was incredibly attentive, checking in frequently to ensure we had everything we needed. They also did a fantastic job helping us celebrate a birthday, surprising us with a complimentary dessert. Truly one of the most impressive meals I've had recently!

Camper is a charming and cozy restaurant situated at the corner of a street in downtown Menlo Park. My friend booked a table through OpenTable to celebrate a friend's birthday with brunch/lunch at 12PM on a Saturday. Upon arrival, the restaurant wasn't too busy -- about 40% capacity. We waited about a minute as the host had stepped away before we were seated. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and attentive! My friend and I ordered quite a few plates to share and try out their menu. We definitely had leftovers. APP * Warm Sourdough (3) with Cultured Butter + Housemade Jam The appetizer was okay. I appreciate the butter and jam; however, the sourdough toast was pretty hard and difficult to chew. Perhaps not as fresh a loaf? MAINS * Challah Bread French Toast: Roasted Blueberries, Vanilla Custard, Macadamia Nut Butter, N * Camper Fried Chicken Sandwich: Saffron Aioli, Romesco, Manchego, Cabbage Slaw, French Fries with Catalan Ketchup + Garlic Aioli * Smoked Trout Salad: Sauce Gribiche, New Potatoes, Bacon, Broccolini, Herb Salad, GF * Shakshuka Verde: Tomatillo, Green Garlic, Artichoke, Cilantro, Feta, Poached Eggs, Sourdough Let's start with the two stars of the meal, the French toast and smoked trout salad! Both were balanced and delicious! However, the Camper Fried Chicken Sandwich fell a little short, mainly due to the overabundance of slaw and sauces. Unfortunately, it left the fried chicken less crispy and enjoyable. The fried chicken was bland, but being from Georgia makes it hard to meet my expectations for good fried chicken. I think reducing the amount of slaw within the sandwich will do the trick. The saffron aioli sounds good, but I don't taste any saffron. It's a delicate ingredient and can be overpowering, but in this case, it was absent. Lastly, the Shakshuka Verde was beautifully plated, and the flavors were enjoyable. However, my opinion may be influenced by my dislike of artichoke. My friend wanted to order this dish but was disappointed. The sauce was very loose and watery, and it should have been a bit thicker for easier bread dipping. The poached eggs broke as soon as they arrived on the plate. With some fine-tuning, I believe it could be a fantastic dish--plus, it definitely needs more feta! DESSERT * Caramelized Milk Jam Pudding GF, N: Candied Pecans, Dulce de Leche, Whipped Chantilly It was a great way to complete our experience! The pudding was delicious. The staff brought out this dessert with a candle for my friend's birthday. It was very kind of them. Since I was only there, I invited the staff member who brought it out to join in singing the birthday song. She did! It was a very thoughtful gesture.

I was pleasantly surprised by Campers. The space feels contemporary and vibrant without being pretentious, and the service was friendly. They also have a large private dining room in the back that can be rented for events. The menu appears to change seasonally. I visited in late August. We tried a fish crudo, salad with seafood, a pasta dish, and a pudding dessert. Everything was fresh, well-seasoned and delicious. The dishes felt creative yet balanced, and the portions were generous. I later returned for brunch, which wasn't as busy as dinner (perhaps it hasn't been widely discovered yet and part of me wanted to gatekeep). We ordered the Shakshuka Verde and the House Benedict, both of which were fresh and delicious.

Food 3.5/5, Service 4.5/5, Ambiance 5/5. I came here for a work dinner where we shared several dishes family style (the prawns, chicken, agnelotti, halibut, and ravioli) and had several sides including grits, corn bread, and sourdough. I really enjoyed the cornbread and the cheesy grits. Not sure that I would come back to order a single meal, but It was nice to try several different dishes at once and great for a large group where everyone was willing to share. My favorite dish was the agnolotti pasta by far, though the chicken was substantial and a hearty meal to share among two or more people. The menu itself is super eclectic, Californian American with Italian and Asian influences (for example one dish came with bok choy). I was not a fan of the halibut and it tasted surprisingly fishy but that may have been because of how it was seasoned. We also got the apple crisp and milk jar pudding for dessert - I preferred the crisp. We had excellent service for a large party of 6 or 7 people. The dishes are $30-40 a plate so it pays to come as a group and get the full palate experience.

Camper has an automatic 20% gratuity added onto your bill. Now our server was kind enough to let us know when the bill came out, but tips should be based on service and not based on whether or not you just decide to just dine somewhere. Management if you are reading this, either pay your workers a fair and livable wage or find other ways to make up for this 20% elsewhere on your menu. Now lets talk about why this is a further issue. It may had been an off night, they may had been understaffed--who knows. What we did know was our server only came twice to check in on us, once at the beginning when we ordered and at the end when we paid the bill. Strangely she also told the busser to remove our plates right when our sourdough came out. The bussers came back and apologized for the miscommunication and eventually brought the plates back but this un smooth service was why 20% is a steep price to pay just to dine here on top of the cost of the food. Speaking of food let's talk about portions for the price. I personally ordered the Crab Spaghetti and my girlfriend ordered the Corn Agnolotti. The saving grace for this review however is the food was actually delicious. Flavors were all there and unique enough that we may consider coming back if we were in the area. But man for $36-37 an entree we definitely would have to realllly reconsider it because I didn't even get a full crab leg worth of meat in my spaghetti. It was literally probably shreds to a single joint on a crab leg. For that price we literally finished our meal in six bites. I could definitely had used more food and left feeling unsatisfied because of it. We definitely would've paid for another entree but with how the night went on with our first impression, we definitely had to say no. So overall, be prepared for an expensive meal if you choose to dine here, but would Camper be on my list of future visits or recommendations? Probably not.

I love Camper! We eat here several times a year, and it is always an excellent experience. My husband and I are pescatarians and we don't eat meat. At Camper for our entrees, he typically orders the halibut, and I typically order the fresh house-made spaghetti with crab. The cocktails are inventive and well-balanced. Tonight we had: Yuzu Rye-Ball (Rittenhouse Rye, Yume liquor, Akashi yume Japanes whiskey, mint, lemon, and yuzu hop water) And Smoky Monty (mezcal, Amaro Montenegro, brucato chaparral amaro, mole spices) Both cocktails were well-balanced and flavorful. Then we had: Warm sourdough bread with savory cashew dip (5 stars!) Little lettuce with persimmon, sunflower seeds, and white balsamic vinaigrette (5 stars!) Camper spaghetti with Dungeness crab (5 stars!) Roasted Pacific Halibut with black garbanzos (4.5 stars) Fossilized honey nut squash side (a million stars!!!) Smoky mix of wild mushrooms with egg yolk jam (6 stars) For Dessert: Pink lady apple crisp with oatmeal crispy and vanilla ice cream Carajillo coffee cocktail Midnight raider mezcal espresso martini. must-try! It's so enjoyable to sit outdoors under the twinkly lights with the heaters. Also, cozy to sit indoors. The people who work here are really nice. The bartenders, host/hostesses and servers are all pros and good people. Highly recommend this spot.

Overall, Camper is a really cute spot in Menlo Park's downtown-ish area. It boasts a Michelin star and its best to get a reservation. Very classy place, and the atmosphere is somewhat professional. The seats are very nice, feels like a couch. I loved the food! Everything was cooked perfectly, and I really enjoyed the grits in my chicken dish. I wouldn't say any dish was particularly outstanding, but it's an overall solid spot

Mark, Hiro and the staff were amazing in accommodating the large group, I did not hear a single complaint and ever found a dish that they enjoyed. I sat separate from the team at the bar and feel horrible I forgot the lady bartender's name but she kept me company and the pictures attached were what I opted for my meal. I lived the heirloom tomato salad with the baby mustard greens!! the deviled eggs were tasty too.

Great dinner spot in Menlo Park! Seems very popular so it is good to have a reservation. Grateful that they had a fun, substantial vegan option with the chickpea panisse. They reminded me of gnocchi. Great flavors and you can tell the chef is thoughtful about the menu with creative options. And good pickles are always a plus for me!

Pretty modern space with a varied menu. Service was attentive and quick to add a glass of wine midway through my meal. We started with delicious Manhattans on the rock with perfect cherries. Fresh warm bread with cashew butter, an interesting alternative to butter. The salad was a huge portion but fresh with a nice light sesame dressing. The agnolotti with squash was tasty and the halibut was a generous piece well cooked. Overall a nice dinner in MP. We were in the area for a meeting but plan on coming back, the burger and fries were popular and looked great.

As a speakeasy enthusiast myself I definitely agree to the fact that it is "hidden" but also it does kinda give corporate vibes a little bit - maybe we can say they "gentrified" the speakeasy experience which is honestly so funny for Palo Alto. But anyways I don't think a classification should stop you from visiting it. The food is actually surprisingly really good. We came with a pescatarian and honestly while the offerings for snacks were a bit slim, every option was really good. I feel like this was the first time where I understood the price even the the quantity is no where close to be desired. One shrimp is like $6 and I was like whoah. Btw the bar is from the same proprietor as the restaurant Protégé (across the street). Fun little bar for some music and drinks, they even have a disco ball.
