I had been telling our guests that Campioni made absolutely the best pizza I had ever eaten. A month or so ago, this was true. Friday 2/17/23 we ordered two traditional and they are now rated among the worst ever served. The ground beef as one example was dry, way overcooked, and more like a big pile of bread crumbs just dumped in the center of each pie. One pie had twice as much as the other, and none of it was spread out. The ham was almost as much fat as the meat...we also ordered two orders of garlic bread...one of which had been burned black. As this was take out, and we traded $70 cash including a tip, there was no one way to complain at the time. It should have never left the kitchen. Ever. I was embarrassed and shocked, to say the least. We were all disappointed. I understand Campioni's was busy on a Friday night. I was glad to see that. However, if this is the new standard, then this location will go the way of the County Line, the previous occupant. read more

From the outside it is nice enough, but it is an understated gem from the inside. Extremely friendly staff. Everyone from the hostess that seated us, the wait staff, bar staff, bussers, everyone was great. Food, where do I start? Excellent. This was quite the pleasant surprise. Tried a new place and couldn't believe how quaint the restaurant was tucked away in all the trees and greenery. The food was incredible! The bread they brought to the table and butter was amazing. The salads were fresh, cold and the dressing was clearly homemade. The entrees were all delicious. I had two sips of tea and left because after the waiter gave me my tea, I didn't see him again for at least 10 minutes. I knew that if I went to Carabba's I would be waited on and have food delivered within 10 minutes which is what id did after leaving this restaurant, never to return.after said waiter replied when I told him I was leaving, " Well, I am waiting on you now". Such a beautiful hidden treasure! The service is extremely friendly and attentive and the food all around was quite delicious. The calamari appetizer was a very lovely light start, not overly crusted or salty. The dual lemon butter and marinara dippers were perfect components...the marinara by the way is remarkably awesome. The salads were super fresh, farm to table quality. Absolutely delicious!! Beef medallions was the entree and so incredibly well prepared. A perfect sear and seasoning on I'm sure also farm to table meat, it was heavenly. The accompanying bread and butter deserves a take home order as you leave. Trust me on this. Although they ran out of snapper, they were able to accommodate bye recreating the sauteed snapper and replacing it with chicken. Of course it was very different in consistency and all, but overall amazingly delicious! I would definitely recommend getting this dish. Lightly breaded chicken or snapper, topped off with mushrooms and lump crab meat. It is served with a side of green beans in a lemon butter sauce. I got the Alfredo pasta with it as another side. It was just any regular alfredo pasta, but the flavors of the sauteed chicken was delicious. You won't be disappointed. The ambiance of this restaurant is quiet with dim lights. Great for family events. I noticed that they also have a banquet room for larger parties of 10 + or 20 +. Our server was delightful and was very attention to detail. This was my first time to go to Campioni's but definately not my last. For those that live in the NW Houston area, this Italian restaurant is where the old County Line BBQ restaurant on Cutten was located. The food was really good and large portions, but the service is what made this night a hit for me. Pam was our waitress handling all 16 orders, drinks, refills etc in our group. Yes, 16 dining and 1 main waitress for the group. We had asked for some recommendations of appetizers from her (bread, shrimp & calimari) - everyone loved them (Highly recommend the shrimp Asiago appetizer - wow!!!!) When the food came out (all at the right temperature), Pam had help from her team in getting all the food out at same time (yes - all 16 orders at same time). Any chef that can pull that off is amazing. Other than that help in serving the plates, Pam was on point and no one had to ask twice for anything (refills, crushed red pepper, another wine etc) In todays abundance of restaurants, the food is highly objective based on everyones individual preference - no complaints from our crew of 16 (I had the Pasta Papato and it is a good mix of flavors)...but the top notch service we received is what can make or break a memorable dining experience. If a restaurant prides itself on a high level of service like we received, I can assure you they put out great food as well. read more

I happened upon Campioni in my Yelp search for family takeout. My entire family was happy with the variety of respective choices. The servings were truly sizeable and full of flavor. The Fettucini Alfredo w/Chicken was savory, absolutely delicious. The Spaghetti & Meatballs was very tasty; the meatballs good sized and not overfilled with too much breading. I chose the Pomodoro w/Chicken; the garlic flavor was deliciously well balanced, not overpowering. The child's Spaghetti and Meatballs was very generous; not truly a kiddie serving, thanks Campioni!! The restaurant itself is elegant. If it wasn't for COVID limitations and risks, I'd take my family there to celebrate my upcoming birthday. Good Italian food, reminds me of a local neighborhood spot. Enjoyed my dinner. Our waiter was extremely friendly and kind. It's also a pretty large restaurant so wait time doesn't seem to be an issue. Here is my only downfall and I will do my best to explain without coming off rude. The night I went half of the customers were older and I had to sit through a lot of coughing. It's not the most appealing when you are trying to enjoy dinner and you hear people coughing their lungs up. We had our office Christmas party here. It was FANTASTIC. They served the Chicken Romano, green beans and Penne alla Campioni. Wow! First the pasta took us to the moon and back it was that good. It's so hard to find really good Italian food in Houston. We've been to Campioni's several times now and the food is just top notch. Start with the shrimp appetizer. Get the 6. They are amazing. We've stuck to pasta dishes so far and all have been well prepared with the right amount of sauce. They have a very good wine selection and overall their prices are great. We drive a good half hour to get to the restaurant but it is worth it. They are usually busy but we've never waited more than a few minutes I'd suggest calling ahead though if you have a big party. The owners are very gracious and have always been there and stop by to check on you. So I am upping them to a five star because I can't think of what they could do to "improve" read more

Get this, you won't regret it.I wish this restaurant provided the garlic bread as a complimentary dish like other restaurants provide bread instead of paying for it. Still worth it though. Also, one of the things that irked me (piggybacking the whole having to pay for garlic bread) is that, it seemed like this restaurant tried to charge you for everything. We were asked for a small salad before our entrees which we said yes. We thought this was complimentary. But small house salads were $4.50... it was good, but not $4.50 good. I ordered the spaghetti meatballs and my bf ordered the lasagna. The meatballs were quite delicious, great texture. I needed extra spaghetti sauce in my dish, but once I got that, it was great. I like my spaghetti swimming in sauce. The lasagna was also good too. I wish there was more of the pasta layers, it all just seemed to mesh together. This place isn't bad, but I didn't find it to be as good as most people said it was. First thing I noticed was the unsavory smell upon walking in. That makes it tough for me to enjoy a meal. The garlic bread was pretty good, but average. I ended up with the margherita pizza, subbing eggplant for chicken...for an extra charge. Also, I asked for the grilled crust, because I noticed they only mentioned that on a few pizzas on the menu. They said they can make any pizza with a grilled crust. I think it made a difference too because I enjoyed the crust on my pizza more than the regular one my husband had with his puttanesca pizza. His was not as crisp, which wasn't bad, but the grilled was better for sure. Overall though, I don't think the pizza here is anything special. Service was good, but I hate it when a place stinks (literally) and the food just wasn't enjoyable enough to entice me to come back. I ordered Salmon and Calzone. The salmon was served with green beans, artichoke quarters and capers. The salmon seemed to be boiled and was tasteless. I was really disappointed but I am a pretty positive person so found satisfaction in the fact that I finally tried the famous Champion's. The worst part was the Greek salad that seemed two days old. the lettuce was witty when it was delivered and the tomatoes completely mushy. I knew when I looked at the salad initially that there was something wrong. But an hour later, I had cramps and so did my guest. We both at the salad and now agree that the salad was old; it looked like it was taken from another person's plate and put on ours. This is a great Italian restaurant. Artichoke for an app goes great with booze. The Greek salad is delicious and I like to add salmon. The sautéed Snapper is, in my mind, the piece de resistance. Chicken pasta for an entree salad is cheesy and creamy. Cannelloni, chicken manicotti, and pasta pepato (a spicy marinara with shrimp) are my favorite pasta dishes. The pizzas are wonderful and thin. We stood there for 5 minutes waiting for him to finish, and 2 staff people told us we'd be seated soon (but took no initiative). He finally finished, and immediately sat down at a nearby computer. We indicated we were ready to be seated, and he said he had to enter the order. Needless to say, we were surprised by his response and we left . . . went to Papadeaux's nearby and had a wonderful meal with great service.
