I went here a couple of times when we were staying at the resort. The food is excellent, the views are marvelous and the staff are super friendly. They also a bocce court in the back next to a putting range if you are interested in trying that before or after your meal. The new general manager Scott seems to be doing a good job here. Our server Noelle was great, gave good suggestions and took good care of us without being overly attentive. She was able to recommend several wines by the glass which were perfectly paired with the meal. The bartender made a delicious Manhattan exactly to order and as requested stirred, not shaken! The bread service includes a slightly sweet tomato, pepper and olive oil dipping sauce. They will bring you butter upon request. We enjoyed the special of the day and a skirt steak. The special was a Panko crusted cod which was moist, tender and had a delicious crispy crust. The black beans and rice were mixed together (in Spanish that is called congri) and had plenty of flavor with plenty of garlic and nice moist rice. So often that dish can be dry and tasteless, not this one. The special was also served with a very large portion of steamed broccoli. Our other entrée was the Asian inspired skirt steak. It was a strange description because it also said that it had a bacon bordelaise sauce which seemed a strange addition, but when it came out it tasted delicious. Not an overwhelming bacon flavor, a slight soy/shoyu flavor to the sauce. The only thing I didn't care for was that the steak came out in strips and not a whole piece that I could cut myself. It was just slightly overcooked not the medium rare that I ordered but it was very tender so I never mentioned anything to the server. The steak was served with some sautéed sugar snap peas and broccoli on one side and on the other side some crispy, well seasoned fries. They had Parmesan cheese sprinkles and garlic and were absolutely amazing. Believe that this place is much better for dinner than for lunch although they do have great burgers! read more

Camps is located at the Greenhorn Creek golf course in Angles Camp. Its a very pleasant facility that overlooks the golf course. Outside there is a Bacci ball court and a built in pizza oven for some of the best pizza around. Thin crust great flavor you think you're in Naples- almost. The restaurant offers for dinner the usual fare. Chicken, burgers, rib eye or NY steaks and salads and offers a full bar. It's casual but nice and doesn't have a stuffy country club feeling because while there are members it's only semi private so open to the public. I'd say the food is generally good -- frankly in Angles and Murphy's surrounds you'll not get great anywhere. It's just the way the area is for dining. You'd have to go to Taste in Plymouth ( about 50 min away east of Jackson) to get a memorable dining experience experience. Service is always spotty and the kitchen sometimes misfires but all in all a very good 3 and nice feeling. read more

Came here for dinner last night. The restaurant had a nice ambience, nicely stocked bar, and a beautiful outdoor patio area with games like bocci ball. I had the Jack Daniels chicken pasta dish and it was delicious! The chicken was a tad dry. My boyfriend had the full rack of ribs, and he thoroughly enjoyed them. Huge portion sizes and good food! Bar was pretty slow getting out drinks, but it was relatively busy so that's understandable. read more

Went there about a week ago and hav to say we were all a little disappointed from what we have experienced in the past. The mahi-mahi macadamia halibut was just so, so. A good sized piece of fish but the macadamia nut crust could have been panko bread crumbs as it had no flavor. The others in the group had he teriyaki beef, which was very deceiving. The bed was very tender, cut into bite sized pieces with a dark brown gravy over it, absolutely not a teriyaki. I know times are tough with staff, etc., but if they want to continue their past great reputation, hey need to step up the game. read more

I had the amazing rosemary chicken with the creamy sauce and vegetables and my bf had the filet minon which was delicious! Went to camps for my dad's birthday lunch, there were 4 of us in our party. Walking through the restaurant, we ate outside, there was one larger group inside and another 2 top was seated after we were. Our waitress was super attentive, was quick with our drinks and taking our order. Before we could order we were made aware that there were no ribs or duck and 1 order of calamari was left. Our group ordered a burger, a chicken sandwich, the buffalo chicken sandwich and the "tot-chos". When our food was brought out it was all lukewarm at best. The totchos ($16), which consist of pork belly, tater tots, pickled jalapeños, green onions and a couple sauces were missing their jalapeños and green onions, they were also cold. We sent them back to the kitchen, this time they were brought back out with no pork belly. When we brought this to the attention of the GM he apologized and brought out a bowl of "pork belly" but all that was in the bowl were chunks of fat and no actual meat. He also comped the plate. Our waitress made the comment "this always happens on Sundays ‍" and seemed very annoyed for us. Definitely not the caliber of food expected for the prices charged, and definitely won't be back any time soon. read more

I'm not really big on reviewing during this time as I feel good can be a hit or miss right now. We ordered takeout here twice on our trip. First time was great and the second was not. I don't know what happened, I was pretty surprised many times with my experience here. First I called and called Christmas Eve around 11 AM, noone ever answered, then I called and left a vm to ask if they were open Christmas Eve and serving dinner. Noone called back so we drove over in the afternoon, about 2:30. The general manager seemed surprised when I told him we had called and reached noone. He made a reservation for us for 4:30. We arrived late for our reservation, but the hostess couldn't find any reservation for us. She said the printout wasn't current. She nicely asked if we wouldn't mind sitting at the bar and then said she would comp 2 drinks for us. OK, I don't drink, but OK, my daughter could drink 2 drinks. Service was OK, I guess for the type of place this is and the prices I expect a little higher end service. Everyone was nice, so that helped the experience. An example of the service was we had a salad before our meal and I thought it would be great to have some bread with it. I asked the bartender and his response is, I think so, I guess he's not sure, maybe that's why they didn't offer any bread. The salad, bread, and my blue cheese dressing was very good. The blue cheese salad dressing was one of the best I've ever had. I asked if the duck with couscous was the small couscous or large, I was told it was probably the small. I don't know why they wouldn't be informed of the menu and if not why they wouldn't offer to check. So I ordered the fish. It ended up the duck was served with large couscous, one of my favorites. Oh well, I like fish. The fish was very dry and but OK, the rice pilaf was just seasoned rice, didn't even appear freshly made. The vegetables were, I can only say horrid for this type of restaurant. They looked and tasted like they had been on a buffet under heat lamps for a full day. See pictures. I thought the dark green vegetable was fennel stems since it was so dark and dried out, as I looked closer to take a picture I could see it was broccolini. I amazed any restaurant would even serve these vegetables! The final issue was as I was sitting there I noticed the balsamic vinegar bottle and I saw something floating on top, as I looked closer I could see there were lots of fruit flies floating in the vinegar I had been eating during my meal, actually all of the bottles of vinegar at the bar had fruit flies. So I asked to talk to the General Manager, he came over and apologized and that was it. He said he wasn't aware that fruit flies are attracted to vinegar. I didn't even finish my dinner, it was so unappetizing. Anyone that knows me wouldn't believe it. I feel bad to write this review, but considering the food and service I had to say something. This place has the pricing and ambiance that gives a certain expectation. It doesn't have to be amazing service or food, but should at least be a decent quality. One of the worst experiences I've had in all of my dining over the years. Very disappointing too since this was to be kind of special for our Christmas Eve dinner. read more

This restaurant is located at Greenhorn Creek golf course. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the staff is great. The hostess bragged about the new chef they just hired. The menu is very limited. Choices range from shrimp scampi to prime rib on Saturday night. Salads are very pricey for what you get. I chose a grilled Caesar Salad with grilled chicken added on. Service was very slow. Be prepared to dine at a slow pace. Our entrees took over 40 minutes to arrive. If service was better it could get 5 stars. read more

This place is under new ownership. I'm told as of last night they've been in business for four weeks. Let's just say, everything takes forever. Order a drink? 40 minutes. An appetizer? An hour more. Salad? Yup, that's another hour. Dinner? Another 60 damn minutes. What we ate was ok. The Caesar was a flavorless joke but my steak was good, they ruined my wife's rack of lamb. What really bothered me was their lack of communication, almost as if this long wait was normal and sure! just frickin sit there! 6:20 arrival for our Anniversary, out of there at 10:00. I made a reservation for my fiancé and I to sit outside but when we got there the front desk lady played dumb like she didn't see that we had outdoor seating and seated us inside . Due to being in a pandemic we prefer to be safe and I had called to arrange it that way on purpose. When the person at the front came back I told her I wasn't comfortable with eating inside and that I made a reservation specifically for outside. She said she would talk to her manager. She came back to tell me that not only were they not going to accommodate us but that in fact she all of a sudden did see that I made the reservation for outside. She asked if we wanted takeout but acted put out about it. We left. It's not worth being treated like trash for probably being the only two gay people in your over priced establishment. read more

We come here every year hoping it will be better but unfortunately it's average at best. The one thing it has is a beautiful view and that's why we keep coming back hoping someone bought it and changed it into what it should be. The food is overpriced and average at best. I ordered a dinner salad , a cup of tortilla soup, and a new York steak. Our bill was $75 and truly average. They for years advertise a pizza oven and wine tasting but I've never seen it served. Just went to camps for breakfast.. or attempted to. The hostess didn't even bother to seat us, instead just gave us two menus and told us to find a place wherever we wanted. It's a beautiful day so we decided to sit outside. There had to be only maybe 8 tables in the entire restaurant that were being used both inside and out so it wasn't busy. We sat for 20 minutes without being acknowledged. The waitress walked by our table about 6 times and didn't even look at us to deliver food to a party literally a foot away. I saw a water can that I took the liberty of myself to pour us waters since no one even took a moment to fill ours up. After 20 minutes of being ignored we finally just left. There seems to be a steady decline at this restaurant between the food and service. We ordered the Honey Ginger Glazed salmon with a side of "wild rice pilaf" (loosely named) and a dish of pasta. Salmon was delivered and extremely under cooked. Sent it back and requested the carbonara. Wild Rice Pilaf was hardly that - complete with crunch rice. Ordered the bread basket - $8 for 3 pieces of bread! Umm what? Had to ask twice for water refills. We really like going here for the convenience, but lack luster food and service makes it hard to go. It's November 2020. We have been going to Camps for years and used to enjoy it very much. But the food has been getting more strange each time we go in. Now I have nothing against their current menu probably suitable for California CITY people. More and more have been moving from the bay area to Greenhorn Creek subdivision. But for many of us who have lived her for many decades we like traditional American food. All I'm asking is they have SOME of that too. We go in there now and find NOTHING on the menu we would like to eat. Cumin-coffee ribeye steak? What? Lavender dressing? Broccoli soup? Just give us SOMETHING regular on your menu. As of now we have no reason to go there any longer. read more

Excellent food, great service! I had the lobster Mac 'n Cheese and the Camp Burger. The Mac had large chucks of excellently cooked lobster. The Camp Burger had a delicious sriracha aioli sauce in it that brought it together. I wish they would've added more of that sauce than they did. read more

Camps is definitely one of the nicest restaurants in Angels Camp. It's located on the Greenhorn Creek golf course. The decor is rather rustic but simple in its design. I personally really like it. As senior class president I was in charge of planning our 10 year class reunion. For those of you familiar with the area, there are not a lot of options for elegant and classy locations. I'm not the type to plan a BBQ at the local park and call it good. No. I wanted dinner and dancing and if I was going to be in charge it would be done right. The event staff at Camps were wonderful to work with and did an excellent job catering to our group and making sure our needs were met. I have been there many times since the reunion and have always been pleased with my food. The menu does change seasonally like Ann M. wrote. The service is a little slow, but if you are in rush you should probably eat at KFC or Taco Bell. Camps offers yummy food and beautiful sunset views in a relaxing environment. read more

This place has a beautiful atmosphere but cannot keep a chef to save its life. They've had a couple of good ones in the distant past along with a good local wine selection but, alas, these are things of the past. The current chef has an overly large menu featuring, for example, a wide range of seafood--but literally NONE of the fish is fresh. They're at least honest about this. Meanwhile, the prices are now in the stratosphere. A $36 mahi mahi entree should be fresh. Portions are large, and they could afford to reduce them in exchange for better quality. The fish was over cooked. The Brussels sprouts were undercooked. For a total of $172 for a dinner for two with one glass of wine each, the wine should have been served in a glass without a crusted piece of someone else's dinner on the side. The servers should not have forgotten our sides. The clam chowder was all right. The prime rib was the only thing that was really good--I got a nice medium rare slab tonight. Note that It's served only on Fridays and Saturdays. It comes with the dreaded "side of vegetables" that so often plague steak places that will only put money into the meat--not the rest. And here we are in a blossoming wine region but they only have one or two local wines by the glass on offer--and the cheapest and worst of them to boot. This restaurant, at an upscale golf resort in a beautiful part of the Gold Country, could be great and could appeal to both locals and tourists alike with its proximity to so much fresh produce, meats, and wine. Instead it continues to underperform and cater to an increasingly rarer breed of elderly conservative folks who care more about portion size than quality. read more

I went with a rather large party after wine tasting so we were all quite buzzed, i believe we brought one of our own bottles to drink (plus a corking fee) unfortunately i don't remember what i had to eat here but i know it was destroyed! I want to say i had some sort of fish which is probably accurate since i tend to stay away from the red meat and pork. I picked up the tab for about 6 or 7 of us, not exactly sure but it was under $200 which in my opinion, for the quality of food and service received, well worth it! I wish this review was more helpful considering i can't comment on my dish, but the atmosphere was pretty cool, large windows which set a mellow tone at night, and one of the restaurant employee's proceeded to take charge of the house piano after the other musician left and WOW, that kid can play! read more

Great place if you like waiting 30 minutes for a warm cocktail, a meal that sat under a heat lamp till the mashed potatoes are paste and the steak is blood dry crusty. Not to mention pleasantly incompetent staff that says they placed your drink order then asks what drinks you ordered. And nothing like keeping your waiter organized by telling him he did take your food order 20 mins after he took it... Our 3rd star is being very generous. For being on a golf club resort, we had good expectations for this place. First off, don't think you're not dressed appropriately for this place. We thought this, but we were fine in our attire. The way the building looked led us to believe otherwise. This place takes reservations but we did need one nor did we have to wait to be seated as we got seated immediately. Keep in mind this place is first come first serve though. Anyhow we get sat down and asked if we wanted drinks. I wanted an IPA beer and my husband wanted his wine. Well he got his wine but I got some stupid excuse about the keg being changed an it was not. The waitress thought it was OK to give me a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale beer instead. I said it was OK because I actually liked that beer but would have strongly preferred the IPA beer. Going into Dinner, my husband ordered the Scampi and I ordered the Hamburger. The orders were taken OK but the food took a long time to get served and so did the drinks. Scampi missed the mark. Needed more garlic Burger was good. Fries had an interesting spice to them Want a refill on your drink or more bread? Wait an additional 10 minutes. Wait staff was extremely slow. At least there were some nice people that I talked to in the restaurant in there but other waitresses I talked too seemed like I was bugging them when I talked to them and not care that we spent $70+ after tip. The whole experience was totally average. I would expect this in a place that is an actual brand name restaurant, not some place that's near a timeshare you're staying near and everything just leaves you BLAH in the end. There are way better choices in the area, we think we'll give those a try tomorrow. As for the $5 coupon offered for checking in there, no thanks, ill pass as we're not interested in giving another chance. read more
