Very quaint yet elegantly decorated Italian restaurant. Service was excellent & entrees were thoughtfully served. There were five of us and all of us enjoyed our salads, entrees and house wine. We are from the Midwest & this was our second time enjoying this restaurant. Highly recommend.

It's the little things. Yes, nice, thin bread sticks. Always a pleasure to start with the complementary small dish of parmesan, salami, and carrot and celery sticks. A terrific chopped house salad with a clean lemony dressing. My friend had pasta fruitti di mare, hold the calamari. I had fettucini with tomatoes and shrimp. He boasted that his dish was better than mine. I said naah - it had more flavors and more depth. Mine was simpler and awfully, awfully clean. Not sure where they get their tomatoes from. They were robust and very flavorful. Both dishes were great, as was the pasta itself. My buddy is a food snob. He loves the place and goes often. I'm not, but it's aways a pleasure.

Went on a date here. I ordered the salmon while my date ordered the oysters. Both dishes were excellent and the whole experience was nice. Our appetizers and drinks came at the perfect times and the quantity was just enough in terms of food. We didn't end up trying dessert, but the selection was great.

Canaletto, the restaurant I used to love

BEWARE - NOT A PLACE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. I've been going here since 2005, always loved it - until now. I've got diabetes type-1 - hence have to stay off heavy carbs (potatoes & pasta). I wanted to celebrate New Years by ordering a salmon dish - asked them to trade the potatoes with spinach, due to my diabetes. They refused (explained they don't want to be "taken advantaged of"). I couldn't believe it. I suffer from a very serious condition, not a vain diet. Simple diners all over Manhattan have always respected my special needs. I've always loved this place & recommended it to all my friends. That love is over now

Da Andrea was an absolute delight!! From the first sip to the last bite, every part of the meal was…read moreexceptional. The limoncello was simply divine, and the spaghetti Bolognese and short rib ravioli were both out of this world--rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Then came dessert... the ricotta cheesecake literally knocked it out of the park. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable dining experience. Then there was our waiter, Cem, he had a great presence, was very knowledgeable, and treated us like royalty! He made the entire experience worth coming back for. If you're looking for authentic Italian food with incredible flavors and impeccable execution, Da Andrea is a must-visit but you have to ask to be seated with Cem!! Can't wait to come back!

Taylor's Tayke: Da Andrea is a great option for Italian…read moredining in Chelsea, with a warm atmosphere that works perfectly for date night or dinner with friends. The menu has plenty of variety across pastas, seafood, and cocktails, with some unique dishes that made the experience memorable. The drinks were a highlight, and the seafood options stood out the most for me. My Tipsy Tayke: The Fragola Fizz was juicy, fruity, and refreshing. The Forever Summer was another standout, with the smokiness of the mezcal blending really well with the fruit flavors without overpowering them. Both are easy recommendations depending on whether you want something fruity or a little more complex. My Taysty Tayke: Get Down & Dirty, Expeditiously: Seafood Ravioli Unique, flavorful, and packed with different seafood flavors. The ravioli itself was delicate and had a tendency to fall apart, but the flavor made up for it. Standout: Calamari Crispy, seasoned, and enjoyable. It had a slightly chewy texture, but I still found myself going back for more. The Carpaccio wasn't necessarily for me texture-wise, but I really enjoyed the greens and dressing that accompanied it. The garnish felt intentional and helped bring the dish together. The Pappardelle came with plenty of sauce but could have used more flavor overall. The complimentary bread was also tougher and chewier than I prefer. Desserts: The Lemon Sorbet was easily my favorite dessert. Bright, refreshing, and packed with real lemon flavor. The Mango Sorbet was another refreshing option with a smooth tropical sweetness. The Panna Cotta Cheesecake leaned closer to a mousse in texture and was definitely on the sweeter side. I especially enjoyed it with the cherry, which helped balance everything out. Service: Warm and attentive throughout the meal, fitting the inviting atmosphere. Plates From My Visit: Calamari Carpaccio Seafood Ravioli Pappardelle Lemon Sorbet Mango Sorbet Panna Cotta Cheesecake Fragola Fizz Forever Summer In Conclusion: A warm Chelsea Italian spot with strong cocktails, unique seafood dishes, and refreshing desserts. The Seafood Ravioli was the highlight of the savory side, but whatever you do, save room for that Lemon Sorbet. Stamped by Elajas

Are you going to the Joyce for a wonderful evening of dance ?…read more Do you prefer a location close by ? Is inexpensive Italian food a preferred choice ? If you answered "yes" to all three, then Fumo is a place to seriously consider. The restaurant is bright and comfortable. The service is fast and attentive. The menu has lots of excellent choices. The portions are generous. The prices are very reasonable. There you go ! Fumo is for you, (at least the Chelsea location) is for you. Any drawbacks ? youi ask.....well, yes, there is one, and it should be cosnidered. The restaurant is so so so popular that the noise level can be a bit ..... shall we say "daunting." Fumo is a great place but if you want a soft, quiet place to have a serious conversation, maybe save it for another time....

This means those dishes aren't truly gluten free for people with celiac disease or anyone who has to avoid gluten. When I pointed that out to my server, he just gave me a blank stare. I tried to explain why labeling those items as gluten free is misleading, but he seemed completely disinterested, even annoyed, dismissed what I was saying, and simply responded that the pasta is gluten free. I acknowledged that the server doesn't write the menu, but absolutely zero customer service skills. The service overall was lacking. Aside from taking our order, no one checked on us or came back to see if we needed anything. Our server was just hanging out chatting up the hostess. We had to request the bill from the manager & paid at the hostess stand. Before paying, I spoke with the manager and explained what had occured. He was more professional than the server, but he was still dismissive of my concerns and of the service we received. Management seemed happy enough to promote the "option". The food was okay, definitely not enough to make up for the poor service and handling of a serious dietary issue. Needless to say I will not be returning.

Water and excellent bread arrived immediately and the waiter was helpful describing dishes and giving advice. Salads were fresh and crisp. Caesar was nicely dressed and the mixed salad was a nice combination with well balanced herb vinaigrette. Seafood dishes had large amounts of fresh seafood and the veal picatta had the lemony flavor you expect without excessive acidity. Dessert was tasty and innovative. The ricotta based cheese cake wasn't as smooth as the cream cheese form but the citrus flavor was great. Throughout the meal water and bread were refilled, plates from completed courses removed and next delivered without being overly hovering. All in all a really great meal.

It works especially well for a mixed group since they have plenty of options including dishes without meat and everyone can find something. Even my picky niece and nephew were happy.
