Food is always delicious here! Service you can always count on. Place is always spotless and clean. Classy, clean diner ~ they have counter seating if you're solo! Food is delicious! Salads are large, fresh and ranch dressing was YUM! The cinnamon roll pancakes are a must at least once! I promise. You'll love it! Went in yesterday around lunch time and sat at the bar. Ordered the churro waffle because it is awesome. I could hear rap music coming from the cooking area that I could easily sing along to. If I wanted to go to a concert I would buy a ticket. 42 bucks for breakfast is completely outrageous. The cokes are now 4.00 a person. Jules is pretty slow. Food is great, service not so much. I love this place. Absolutely love it! So why only 3 stars? Because the animals are running the zoo. We live close by, and have learned to send my husband over to get on the list before we send the rest of the fam over. Which is not the reason for three stars. The food is amazing. Try anything, try everything. Don't watch calories. Enjoy! Then we discovered carry-out. Which is generally pretty good, except that they consistently short you one item on the order. It's usually some extra sauce or an add-on that you've paid an extra $2 or $3 to get - and you don't get. The online ordering was terrific though, easy to navigate and customize your order. Until they quit doing it - you'd get a message that they weren't doing it right then, try again later. So we'd call in our order and pick it up - and we'd still get charged extra for the add-on items that we didn't get. And the food is soooooo good, really folks. So good. Today we go to call in our breakfast order, and they're not taking takeout orders today. Exqueeze me, baking powder, what? It's the Age of Covid, everyone takes to-go orders. This is how America saved the restaurant industry. And thus, my crappy review. Just to give someone at Canopy Road a heads up that they really could improve a few things. And while I'm here with an audience, an explanation about the animals running the zoo comment. When you go into the restaurant - there's not an adult around that's ultimately responsible for the operations. No one that self-identifies as a "manager". Seating is a crazy concoction of pieces of paper or a tablet, depending on which employee is standing there at the moment. Canopy Road - please hire a babysitter to watch the kids working your restaurant. And put some structure into your processes with regards to quality control, seating, and take-out processing. read more

As a self proclaimed breakfast expert, I am always looking for a place that knows how to pair eggs, meat, bread, and sugar in creative and delicious ways. Up until recently, this area was a barren wasteland for such restaurants until, as if God himself heard my prayers, Canopy Road sprang out of the ground like a beautiful flower. While the staples of the greatest meal on earth are always available including pancakes, French toast, eggs, etc. The chefs are always stretching their creative legs to push their limits. Like the blueberry cobbler pancake or the cinnamon roll French toast or even the borderline ridiculous fruity pebble waffle, the menu will excite you with so many twists and turns you feel like you are watching Quentin Tarantino film. This restaurant is SO GOOD in fact that the line can build up quite quickly after around 8:30 on weekends. It leaves guests racing to get from their cars to the host stand to get their name down. True story... saw a gentlemen in a wheel chair slowly wheeling his way down the sidewalk when another car pulled into the parking lot. The fellow saw a family of 6 get out of the car and start heading for the restaurant. Not to be beaten to get his name on the list, the man leapt out his wheelchair and sprinted for the door. Miracles do happen and dare I say, thanks to the healing power of Canopy Road! Keep in mind, they close at 2pm, so if you don't get there by then, you are left without the greatest breakfast in St Johns County for another at least 16 hours. So set your clocks, run practice drills, basically whatever you have to do to make sure you are a part of this magical experience! read more

I love this place! It is my favorite place to eat breakfast in the area. The food is great. They also get creative with the menu. It does get busy at times but it's never an outrageous wait for the most part. I also order to go a lot, and fortunately, they always get the orders right. A small breakfast/lunch spot that started in Tallahassee and had since moved to JAX. I was so excited to check it out as I have since moved out of Tallahassee and it definitely didn't disappoint. So many different options for breakfast and lunch and everything was tasty. The goat cheese on the avocado toast was to die for. Only reason I'm giving 4 starts is 1. NO ALCOHOL. A huge disappointment when we wanted mimosas for brunch. 2. It was extremely loud in there. I guess the way the structure was built. Stopped in for a family breakfast, and everything was phenomenal. Our server was kind and easy-going. Got us whatever we needed without hovering. We used to love this place. Generous, hot portions for a reasonable price. Sadly that's no longer the case. I met two friends for breakfast today. I had the Douglas skillet with hashbrowns and sourdough toast. There were so few hashbrowns in the dish I could hardly find them. My toast had at one point been toasted but it wasn't recently as it was completely cold. My friend had the Goat in the Garden. There was no goat cheese to be found. The other friend had the lox and bagel. The cream cheese was one packet of cream cheese squirted between the two sides of the bagel. Not spread out, probably because when it was, it didn't cover the bagel. The cucumber slices were half inch slices for a salad not thin shaved for a bagel. And her bagel was cold as well. When we brought this all to the manager's attention, she apologized and gave an excuse about paying attention to portion sizes for training new people...I politely explained that the sizes they were serving for the price was insulting and not how it used to be. She did bring more cream cheese packets, a side of goat cheese and more hashbrowns and generously explained she wouldn't charge us. and she took a whopping one dollar off the bill. Insulting. We sadly will be removing this place from our breakfast go-tos. It used to be packed all the time and it was empty when we walked in...I think I know why now! read more

I appreciate the personal note and wish this new restaurant the best, and we'll be back to try again. Owners and staff are great and I hope they do well! Second time here and sadly it wasn't much better than the first visit. We gave it another shot because they had been open for just a few weeks the first time we visited. Unfortunately the subpar food quality hasn't changed. On the first visit we sat at the bar and I watched my food sit in the window for 10 minutes. By the time it got to me the eggs were ice cold. I sent it back and they replaced the eggs but nothing else on my plate so now everything else was cold. My husband got biscuits and gravy and there were two tiny pieces of sausage in the otherwise flavorless gravy. We also ordered a cinnamon bun, which was delicious, and the wait staff was very friendly so we decided to try again. Today my breakfast partner ordered the banana bread pancakes and said they were very good but very sweet. The Lil Abner chicken egg biscuits and home fries were mediocre. Biscuits apparently not made in house, frozen chicken tenders, and plain home fries from frozen potatoes. Very stingy on the honey butter drizzle. Sticky syrup bottle not cleaned between tables. Again the wait staff was very friendly, but good service can only go so far when the food is just meh. As other reviewers have noted it's very loud and we had to raise our voices to hear each other. A MUST GO TO! I have been to canopy road several times. Every time I go their food is consistent. The customer service is impeccable! The servers are soo attentive, before you run low on your beverage selection, they are right there refilling your glass. The restaurant has a casual vibe, great music, and super clean. The food... I have tried several plates since visiting.. classic avocado toast is soo good that multigrain toast is super delish and the combination of goat cheese, fresh avocado, Himalayan sea salt and a perfectly cooked egg.. what can I say but " yummy". That is my "go to" when i have breakfast. Mt son has had several benedict plates and loved them all. The cinnamon rolls are warm with just the right amt. of glaze to make it a perfect breakfast starter. Lunch: their chicken salad! OMG A KILLER DISH! Fresh, with cranberries on a light fluffy croissant.. the best. I had the abc club. Grilled chicken, bacon, swiss lettuce tomato on that awesome multigrain bread. So filling and tasty. Sweet potato fries are crispy and fresh. There is not a meal that you would be disappointed . The best experience is when you can sit down, enjoy your meal, and great service! Friendly and caring. Popped in while our dog was being treated at the veterinarian. My hubs and I split the skillet "The Skeeter" and a single pancake. The Skeeter was delicious: country fried steak, sautéed onions and sausage gravy...I mean, what more do you want? The pancake was big and I liked that the edges were crispy. Service was great, our waitress was super attentive, spot on with coffee refills and very sweet. The only complaints I have is the place needs a good cleaning and some touch-ups. The window we sat next to was so filthy I thought it had a privacy film on it. The paint on some of the walls is chipped. The employees need to do a better job of daily maintenance in regards to keeping the appearance of the restaurant sanitary, clean, and tidy. We also asked for our hash browns to be literally burnt and they came out barely cooked. The waitress immediately brought back another plate of hash browns that were perfect. read more

Well, I'm undecided. The food choices were great but the final product was less that what it could have been. There was nothing that said to me, " Aren't you glad you came here instead of Subway?!" The hostess was frank but polite but the waitress, well, let's just say she was doing me a favor. But who knows, everyone has a bad day once in a while. This was once in a while. My wife ask, "did you use to date her or something?!" The floor had food on it and it was wet in front of the bathrooms. I started to empty the trash for them.
