While I usually prefer "dry" chow fun, I had a feeling their version with black bean sauce would hit the mark. And it did! A generous portion, lots of beef and the sauce was not overbearing, as I've found in other restaurants. Salt and pepper squid -- listed as 'fried spicy salted squid' on the menu -- was very good. Came here on grand opening day! It's so great to finally have Canton cooks where it should be,...on Canton Road. We've been always having to drive all the way to the Sandy Springs location to get our traditional Chinese dishes. With much anticipation we were very content as much as our stomachs were. Staff was hospitable and food was cooked promptly and came out hot! The atmosphere in the restaurant was pretty relaxing and accommodating. We ordered their lobster dish, beef chow fun, Peking duck, chicken with cashews, salt and pepper squid, everything was delicious and the servings were plentiful! One recommendation is; their entrance is tricky getting in and out of. There is a yellow painted island to block opposite traffic flow into the park g lot and the dip is pretty steep. There's no chance of any lowered cars getting in and out. Hopefully the entrance gets widened or redone to be more accessible. Enjoy the food! And note too. They will be open in the late hours for those of you still partying until club shuts down. read more

Canton Cook is one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta! It was my go-to for Cantonese food. I had been craving their food since moving to Valley, so I made it a point to arrange a dinner with my family while we were in town for the holidays. We made a reservation for 6pm for a party of eight and were seated promptly. Food is served family-style. Most, if not all tables have a Lazy Susan. This is the best regular Chinese restaurant in the area! (Marietta, Kennesaw, Woodstock, Acworth, and Smyrna) I don't include Sichuan in this Chinese restaurant grouping because that is a very different style of Chinese food. This used to be located in Sandy Springs and I used to regularly go to them when I worked over there. The best thing about them is their lunch special, which is around $10. Not only is it a great deal, they give you more than enough to make you full and it's delicious. There are also many options to choose from as well as some not on the lunch special list. My go to is the salt and pepper pork chop (not on the lunch special menu) which is always prepared perfectly and super tasty! The lunch specials all come with a soup (egg drop, wonton, and hot and sour), white/fried rice, egg roll, chicken wing/drumette, and the entree. Their prices outside of the lunch special are higher, but everything is really good and you get a good amount of food still. I don't think I've had anything bad here, but I do stay away from the more typical Chinese items you can get at the mall or Panda Express. Their Mongolian beef is one thing that is pretty regular/basic that is done better than anywhere else I can think of though. My go-to items are: salt and pepper pork chops, Mongolian beef, shrimp with lobster sauce, and the egg foo youngs. My wife loves the shrimp with lobster sauce and I have yet to see her order anything else here. It is really good though and they do the best job with it compared to others in the area. One last thing to note is that they are very fast! I can usually grab lunch there and go home in about 30 minutes. They've always been fast at their old location too and I'm glad that hasn't changed. It also doesn't negatively impact the quality of the food. Give this place a shot if you're nearby or are passing through the area and want Chinese food. You won't regret it! read more

I have been going to Canton Cook for over 20 years since it was on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. It always has been my favorite Chinese restaurant. I love the large portions, fresh ingredients, excellent service, and fair prices. This was my fifth visit to the Marietta location. I ordered Wonton soup, Egg Rolls, BBQ Baby Ribs, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Roast Pork Fried Rice, and Shrimp in Lobster Sauce. The Wonton soup had two undercooked dumplings with salty broth. They used to put in green onions and a couple of slices of roast pork. The Egg Rolls were over-fried and only contained cabbage when they used to put in roast pork. They could have been more tasty. The Baby Ribs contained 4-small that were exceptionally greasy. The Sweet and Sour was a very large portion with lots of pineapple. The biggest disappointment was the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce. The 8 shrimp were undercooked, and the Lobster Sauce was watery containing very little ginger, egg white, and no green onions. Overall, the food was a C- and I was extremely disappointed. I complained to the waitress who had been there for at least 10 years and she looked at me like I was crazy. read more

This place is very busy but the service is very quick and prompt. We were seated almost immediately and all of our food came out pretty quickly as well. The restaurant itself is like your typical local Chinese takeout place so you won't find modern or updated decor. We got the Peking pork chops and the pan fried spicy salted bean curd. The pork chops were cooked perfectly and the tofu was also very crispy. However, the sauce for the pork chops was very sweet and surprisingly so was the tofu because I tasted a bit of sugar on the outside. Traditionally the tofu is supposed to be salty and spicy with a side of vinegary sauce but the side sauce for this was basically just soy sauce. Ordered the Mongolian beef with noodles instead of rice. Three dollar up charge. It was bland. Ordered crab Rangoon. My guess is that the temperature of their oil was way too high because they came out overcooked on outside and not cooked enough on inside. Ordered chicken fried rice. Asked for spicy. My internet groups were abuzz when this location opened so I had to try it. Unfortunately I found it pretty disappointing. Chicken Pad Thai: no peanuts whatsoever. No scallions or eggs were there either. Instead of the usual vegetables there were a few large carrot medallions. The chicken was limited amongst a ton of noodles. I tasted a lot of lime in one spot but there was no lime wedge. I mixed it up but nothing ever really came together. Definitely not even a little bit good and it's not like the portion is actually generous - it's just a lot of noodles. Chicken Lo Mein: Some sort of Asian noodle dish but unlike anything else I've had with the same name. The noodles were thinner than angel hair spaghetti. Lo mein is supposed to be a soft noodle that's not fried. This was more like chow mein. Once again the veggies were super sad. Just a bit of cabbage and the same thin carrot slices. Also a shitton of noodles, almost no (very low quality) chicken and it was clumpy like the sauce wasn't mixed in. Someone else ordered a shellfish noodle dish that also was ok, not great. The one star is for the snow pea leaves with garlic. Those were great! Flavorful, cooked perfectly. But I wouldn't go back. The cost isn't low - $15 per dish. I have been a customer of theirs for over 20 years now. I have been going there ever since they were on Johnson Ferry Rd. I am glad they are closer to me now. I do not care too much about presentation or atmosphere as long as the food is good, price is right and decent service then I will be a return customer. I am so amazed that they have been able to be so consistent with their food, the taste and portion size have been exactly the same all these years. I wouldn't say cheap but at least they give you decent portion for it.
