This is a solid place for a quick, affordable lunch. Service is good (no need to ask for water refills, they are on the ball) and the food is pretty tasty. I haven't ordered off their regular menu but they have a typical Chinese lunch special - entree (15 choices or so), fried or steamed rice, hot & sour soup, eggroll, fried wonton and a small salad for $7 or $8. With tea and a fortune cookie, that's a pretty good deal! It's not upscale dining but it's not a crappy take-out joint, either. They might even show games at dinner but I'm not sure - the big screen tv is usually off when I go at lunchtime. read more

Best freaking Chinese food ever!!!! This is the real deal! Chow mein was unbelievable, king pao shrimp was to die for and the orange peel chicken was the real deal, yes it's a bit pricy but you get what you pay for. You want a party on your taste buds? Then this is the place to go. And the free hot tea? Tell you what, take a bite of the Orange chicken then a sip of the tea and it is magic on your tongue. Better than takeout but below regular chinese restaurant. Ordered the house special noodles. Food came out really fast with ample amount of noodles, beef, chicken, shrimp. Food for others came out a bit slower. Service could be more courteous but not really expected: we did get the condiments we asked for but didn't know if they actually heard us when we asked for them. Minuses: one pesky fly buzzing around the table; sticky plastic covering on table. If only Sam Woo or some other similar place would setup shop in El Segundo then we'd have more lunch choices for chinese food. read more

This is our go-to local spot. Delivery is lightning fast and eat-in service is down to Earth. Good food, real people. Love it.

I think I give Chinese places an unfair advantage in reviews since I expect piss poor service and this place isn't an exception (sort of). The food is OK nothing to brag about (the sour soup is rather goopy tho) and the service was typical Chinese; nonchalant - stating your request several times and not so much as a nod or wink of acknowledgment when several moments later your water appears or whatever you asked for. However, kudos to this place in that their service isn't as bad as some Chinese places I've been (Lordy don't even get me started about service at dim sum places). Anyway, in conclusion, this place is OK to satisfy your Chinese food cravings; service is acceptable (on a bell curve) and the food is OK. read more

I wasn't expecting much. Came here many years ago for lunch but was totally turned off by the owner's attitude. She made some negative comments in Chinese while we were waiting 45 min. for lunch, not realizing my Chinese friend understood her rude remarks. I understand ownership changed since then but the food was subpar today. The beef in the Westlkae Minced Beef Soup was chopped up in tiny pieces rather than minced. Too much corn starch made it thick and heavy. Beef Chow Fun lacked flavor while the sauce in the Sautéed String Beans was thick and heavy. Portions for these three dishes were generous. We finally got chopsticks at the third request when one of us got up to approached the over worked friendly server. She was the only one taking orders, answering the phone, seating customers, serving, etc. There are other much better Chinese restaurants in South Bay and West L.A. Luckily, at this location, there are no other Chinese restaurants nearby, otherwise it would never survive. read more

I am going to agree with the El Monte reviewer who said " let me just say, they aren't lying when they named it 'Canton Low.' Lowest quality "Chinese" food in El Segundo" I am just guessing it is probably the only Cantonese chinese place in El Segundo, which is why a sign in the front of their store reads "Best Chinese Food". We stopped here tonite on the way home from a beach day. Thought we might finally find some decent chinese food in El Segundo, since we have only found one Chinese place we really like in our part of Culver City/L.A (Linn's Chinese on Pico Blvd - it's good, not much atmosphere, but good fresh ingredients and friendly service!). The Chicken with garlic and ginger (Haistin Chicken, or something like that ??) tasted mostly like vinegar, had very little sauce or flavor, though it had nice white chicken pieces in it with lots of broccoli. The Orange Beef tasted like cracklins. My husband ordered that dish and he said "Where's the beef?!". It was just super dry, super fried to death pieces of tiny crunchy dough. Final killer was the nasty bathroom that I couldn't even stand to use. I left this restaurant with a bad taste in my mouth, and hardly enjoyed a good taste at all while I was there except for the Jasmine tea and the bottle of Tsing Tao. Perhaps you have to know what to order, but we asked the waitress (we said we wanted spicy and we liked ginger and garlic) and she pretty much just kept saying everything was good. We have eaten Chinese food from the East to West coast and know decent Chinese from poor quality and we won't be going this LOW again! read more

YUCKKK!!! I am a local and ate here one time...and one time only. The food was absolutely disgusting. I would eat Panda Express any day over the food served at Canton Low. The other disturbing factor is how they proudly display their American flag...rolled up in the corner. I feel like most of the people giving low stars had a freak incident or expect way too much out of inexpensive Chinese food. I work close and only eat here for lunch. You do have to know what to order though. I tried the sweet and sour pork and there was a bit too much breading but the chicken curry was very good and the sauces/spices are tasty. This is one of the only Chinese places that delivers in town, so we usually order in rather than dining at their restaurant. I don't even want to give them one star because their service was ridiculously rude! I have never NOT left a tip and this place just earned it! (claps, good job guys). They basically made us pay while we were eating because they wanted to close out. The owner asked the guy to ask us why we didn't tip and when we were explaining why he had a smirk on his face and was questioning everything we mentioned. Wonton soup is on point. Broth is seasoned just right, chock FULL of tender, lean meats, veggies and yummy wontons. Egg rolls are also delish. Fortune cookies are OG flavor as they should be. Another little trip to a strange land. Came over about 7:30 pm straight from the airport. There were a few folks eating and a steady pickup and deliver service continued while I was there. I was greeted and seated. My drink order was taken and drink was delivered (iced tea). Not wishing to go too crazy tonight I ordered the beef chop suey and the mapo tofu. Both items came out and both tasted really good. Actually, compares very favorably to my hometown. My server was as attentive as I would have liked - even refilled my drink before I even thought to ask. She even packed up the leftovers and provided a plasticware kit for me. What more could you want? Good, tasty, hot, seemed clean, bright. Ok, one little thing- the beef in the chop suey wasn't the most tender I've ever had. And this place is just around the corner from my favorite local hotel not to mention there's a few other little places along the street that look interesting for another trip. read more

This place we call lovingly cheap Chinese!! That's because it's cheap Chinese food! We come to canton low for lunch and it has about 10 lunch specials for about 7 bucks. The favorite of the group is Kung pao chicken, you get hot and sour soup to start and with every lunch special you get rice (white or fried), salad and a vegetable egg roll and a wonton. The food here won't win any culinary prizes but it's a decent place for a quick lunch. read more

This is definitely one of those places where you have to know the menu, what's good & what's not so hot. Americanized Chinese food. The good: Twice Cooked Pork, Mu Shu Chicken, Yu Hsiang Pork and General Tso's Chicken (deep fried and delicious). Pot stickers are good, especially the ginger soy dipping sauce, but be advised. They ARE NOT like Japanese gyoza. They're much denser and the noodle skin is thick. Forget about anything Hunan and the like here. If you want authentic Hunan or Sichuan go to Monterey Park. read more

I ordered the wonton soup here a couple months ago which tasted great. I was really excited to have found a nearby good tasting chinese food place and I felt like I was for sure going back...that is until the next morning when I woke up sick as a dog. At the time I wasn't entirely sure what happened but I suspected food poisoning. Now reading the reviews about the lack of freshness (and when I went there there weren't many customers there) I'm not planning on going back there again. Although it didn't taste rotten, I think the lack of freshness was covered by the broth and seasoning. It definitely didn't taste good enough to go through food poisoning again. read more
