We have been visiting the Canyon Cafe for breakfast for the past 5 years in our trips to Tucson. Typically we visit for 1-2 weeks and have breakfast here about 5-6 times per week. The buffet is priced extremely well and the options are wonderful. The lighter fare options all offer quality foods. The salmon plate is my favorite - smoked salmon, jalepenos, hard boiled egg, capers, onion, cream cheese. Sunday brunch is excellent with mesquite wood cooking grill, salmon, chicken and traditional bbq fixings. Excellent entertainment. The staff is the reason the Canyon Cafe excels. We look forward to our time in Tucson specifically because of the wonderful smiles and pleasantness that we have found to be so great! Very relaxing ambiance. This place is very relaxing, you almost intentionally eat slower to enjoy the quite atmosphere a bit longer. I ordered the turkey avocado club and it was as delicious as it could get, all the ingredients were very fresh and tasty. Coupled with an ice cold water and probably the best cup of coffee I have had in a long time, made this meal perfect. The staff was very attentive and friendly. This is the go-to restaurant in the wonderful Loews Ventana Canyon Resort. We had a great breakfast buffet there on our last morning for $22/per person (+ tax, tip), including beverages. A la carte would have cost at least that much. Big selection of fresh, well-prepared breakfast items. Stand outs were the fresh lox, home baked breads, pastries and sticky buns, eggs any way you want them from Robert. Good breakfast with a scenic view. I had the turkey breakfast mixture combo. It was interesting and came with tortillas and eggs to order. Extra side of bacon what made it extra special. . .just sayin'. Decor is calm for a 4 to 5 star resort. Not really difficult to find, but definitely off the path of the main area. Comfortable seating and arrangement of tables. The staff was extra attentive. Very professional and courteous. Not a forced habit, but genuine and not really hard at all. I even saw one of the senior waitress tell a party that she was a native Tucsonian and knew the ins-and-outs of the local salsa offered during breakfast. That is far above and beyond normal duties. I think this was the BEST Sunday brunch we have ever had! The outdoor bbq brunch station was an absolute highlight. We were so full we didn't even GET to the sushi, oysters, shrimp, etc. The unlimited mimosas and craft beer were fabulous. The live blues music was wonderful. My experience here was ok, not fabulous. Service was ok, food was ok, and the highlight was the s'mores dessert I took to go.

Always leery of brunches because I usually cannot justify eating enough good food to match the price of a brunch buffet. After 1-2 plates of different foods, I am usually stuffed. Today we went to the brunch at Loews ventana canyon resort...one word .....incredible!!!! Went with a group of friends and everyone was thoroughly impressed. From the service to the wide variety of different types of food, this brunch is a complete success. First was a Bloody Mary from the Mary station with a plate of jumbo chilled gulf shrimp and mussels ...the bloody was tasty and bottomless ! Yum Second, and typically my final plate , was some crispy bacon and plump sausage links accompanied by a wedge salad topped with tomatoes cucumbers and ...more bacon ...when in Rome! After 30 minutes or so,I head outside to survey the BBQ station ... Wow wow and wow!!! Carving stations of turkey lamb and prime rib . BBQ ribs ...grilled veggies and fruits among lots of other savory choices.. I scale back and just sample the prime rib with a creamy horseradish topping and two ribs ...succulent to say the least . Prime rib medium rare and ribs that fall off the bone! After another 20 min or so, I finish my meal(s) with a trip to the dessert bar ... Once again ...spectacular ...a chocolate fondue station and approximately 20 different types of pies cakes cookies and the like to sample !! Husband and I had Christmas brunch for the 4th year. $65 per person for champagne brunch which was, in the past, lovely. This time not so much. While the food was fabulous, the service was just terrible. When we were seated by the hostess, the server waited close to 10 minutes to come to our table. We were greeted, not with "Merry Christmas" or even a "hello", but were asked if we had a reservation (which of course we did). We had to ask our server for drinks at first, then had to ask for refreshers on drinks, then had to ask a manager to get the server with our check. We were ignored and, when being spoken to, treated rudely. I wrote to management a few days later but have not heard a word from them. I feel a public review is in order. read more

This is my second time here for the Blue's Brews and BBQ brunch, it's absolutely the best brunch in Tucson! We sat outside so we could listen to the outstanding blues music, and sit by the fabulous grilled food which consisted of grilled tuna, and salmon steaks, chicken, carne asada, grilled corn on the cob, bacon-wrapped hot dogs, and beans to make your own Sonoron dogs, cornbread, and a huge assortment of grilled veggies! Inside there is an entire seafood bar with shrimp cocktail, cold shrimp, mussles, oysters, and sushi. There is breakfast food galore - they will make you an omelot with anything you want on it, eggs benedict, potatos, bacon etc... a cheese bar and juice shots, every type of salad imaginable, unlimited mimosa's, you can also get beer and other drinks. The dessert table is a gorgeous site as well with chocolate covered strawberries, delicious cookies, crème brulee, brownies, cannoli's and the list goes on. This goes from 11-2. The Sunday bbq brunch was awesome. Grilled pineapple, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, corn bread, beans, salmon, prime rib, bbq pork, ribs, chicken...just to name a few yummy items! Omelet station, waffles. Chilled seafood, didn't even touch the desserts because I was so full, but they looked delicious. Bloody marys, mimosas, soda, coffee all included & service was great. This review is for the brunch. OK service, a little slow. Deserts, salmon and mashed potatoes were above average and the best. Did not try the breakfast portion. Ribs were a major disappointment. I live near by and have been to Canyon Cafe over the years and I enjoy the atmosphere and friendly people. I'm heavily influenced by the lack of meat and taste of the ribs . read more

This place has delicious food options, including a warm and continental buffet option, however beware, prices are high. Most items on the menu are around $20. Two eggs with potatoes and toast is $14 alone. However, the place was crowded, people were complementing the food and enjoying themselves. The service was impeccable. I enjoy lighter fare for breakfast and found a way around the expensive options, ordering two eggs on the side for a $5 price. Delicious with hot salsa and hot sauce. Good coffee also, with the option to order a Starbucks latte next door to be brought to your table. read more

We occasionally go here for the Sunday afternoon music. They have a variety of bands with an open microphone, if you like to sit in. Drinks are sort of expensive, but good. The setting is nice, in a 60s-70s Mad Men kind of way. I have to laugh though, this place is trying to be so classy, but they spelled brie cheese "bree," and the TV was on mute during the music. Nats were also flying around the pool area, when I went outside for a look. Beautiful grounds and looks nice for a hike. read more

Went to Canyon for their Sunday brunch, which I have mixed feelings over. For the price the service, presentation, variety and bottomless mimosas and dragoon beer were worth it. On the other hand, for the price the food was mediocre verging on not good at all. Some items were great, most of the BBQ bar outside was very good, if not rather dried out. And of course the desserts were great, but you don't have much room for that after inhaling so much grub. The traditional breakfast items were mediocre at best and whatever you do avoid the seafood section! The shrimp, mussels and oysters were some the worst and overly fishy I have ever had. read more

I'm only giving this place two stars because the food was really good. The service? What service. It's like we were invisible, I don't even know who our server was because I had to ask servers from other sections to help us out. It took 10min to get water, another 5min to get coffee, all this after our "server" asked us what we wanted when we sat down. 15min may not seem like that long but it really is when all I wanted to do was enjoy the very expensive food sitting in front of me. We were there for two hours, an hour and a half of which was spent waiting around, trying to make eye contact with ANYONE. When it came time to pay, what was suppose to be a split transaction all went on my card, we got it "fixed" after another 10min wait but I don't even know if the double transaction was cancelled or not, so I will be watching my charges. It was just overall frustrating and disappointing, I've been here many times before with a larger group of people and the service was always prompt. I felt like because we are a young couple we didn't matter as much as other people, my money is just as good as anyone else's. read more

We spent the weekend at Ventana Canyon Resort to celebrate my 50th birthday, and it was pure delight... My wife and children and I had a very relaxing and enjoyable experience at the resort... My parents also flew in from back east to stay with us, and several friends came to celebrate as well... The staff was professional in every way, and they seemed to genuinely enjoy their work... We spent a lot of time near the pool, and the Canyon Cafe was wonderful. The servers were so friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, and everything was so "laid back..." One of the managers, Tyler, spent time visiting with our family and our kids, and my 5 year old son asked him if he would be his friend - very adorable... Anyway, thanks Canyon Cafe and Ventana Canyon Resort for a truly memorable visit... We'll be back soon for sure. read more
