Loved the decor of this place! Our server was so helpful and funny. The avocado was so fresh on my sandwich. Drinks looked awesome and were really good!

We got takeout. I was going to post a picture but the relleno was so good that I wolfed it.

We really enjoyed our lunch at El Charro. We went at 2:00 and had a reservation and were seated right away. There were a couple of empty tables so going at that time without a reservation would probably work. The complimentary chips and salsa were excellent. The chips were not salted and the tomato based salsa had smoky fire roasted tomatoes and was slightly sweet from the smoke on first taste but had a lingering heat. The green salsa had pasillo chili and was also great. I had the vegan hemp tamales and they were excellent with a complex flavor. Also liked the charro beans. My husband had the shrimp burrito Christmas style and loved it. We split a flan for dessert and it was very smooth and creamy with lots of caramel sauce. I would definitely come again.

Where to start.. while in Tucson near Sabino Canyon or Ventana Canyon, a few minutes away, delicious Mexican food. Pulled up on a Tuesday night for dinner and had a 15 minute wait for a table of 4. Started with a sangria, very refreshing. I am impressed by all the vegan options! See menu photo. Vegan enchiladas, vegan burrito, jack fruit tacos. I decided on enchilada, they were good. The complimentary chips and salsa gets a shout out. Red salsa was soo good! They were refilled. Waitress Service was okay, not terrible but also not great. Eat outside , lots of tables. Pretty view of mountains!

Don't get me wrong -- I really wish I could give El Charro Café a five-star review. Growing up, it was one of our favorite restaurants to visit. However, I feel like they've lost some of their spark and authenticity. Their service staff is always very friendly and attentive, and their Oro Valley and Ventana locations offer gorgeous mountain views. But the menu leaves you wanting more. If you're a certified foodie, the prices will definitely make you feel like you're paying for the ambiance rather than an authentic culinary experience. For example, their nachos are big, but they look and taste like something you'd get at Taco Bell. If what you're looking for is ambiance, beautiful views, and good drinks, this is your place. If you're after a true Mexican culinary experience, there are other spots in town that will deliver that for a comparable or even better price.

Two of us went for dinner while in the neighborhood and were able to get seated right away though they were full. Our timing was good. I had the fish tacos with beans and rice. The fish was a little cool but not cold. The flavor was good. I like the charro beans as well. One thing I like to do around the holidays is to get the frozen tamales which are great when warmed up. I wish the food served in the restaurant were a bit more consistent but do enjoy the taste.

Was in town for a work conference and I just had to dine at El Charro as I remember it from back in the day when I went to UofA some 25 years ago. I'm used to going to the original location downtown off of Congress, but this was a nice atmosphere for a secondary location. We walked in around 7pm and they were busy so we just sat at the bar as there was no wait to dine there. We were treated by the bartender who took our drink order and we also put in an order for the table Guacamole as an appetizer. We order dinner after the drinks were dropped off. I tried the Birria Chimichanga which was outstanding and my friend ordered the Quesadillas. We both really enjoyed our meals.

Food was great, again. Ordered the bean and cheese burro, which was superb. I love near Ventana Canyon, so the location is wonderful. Service was fantastic. Server was Julian, and you could tell he knew what he was doing! The ambience is a traditional Mexican restaurant, with portraits of famous Mexican stars that my sister was studying.

Gave it a try, we are so glad we did! The Prep Omelette was seriously so delicious and seasoned to perfection. It was well balanced and cooked well. The potatoes! YUM! Service was good too, I was never in need of anything, and my coffee was filled when I needed it! It was also very clean and wasn't overly expensive. Every dish we have tried has been fresh, tasty and great presentation. They always have a diverse spread of pastries so we grab a few to take home. All of their pastries have been amazing. My favorite is their cronut and the raspberry pop tart. Lastly and maybe most importantly, is their delicious drinks. I love the butterfly pea mimosa! Their butterfly pea palmer is great as well. YUMMY! Their service is always great. Attentive and friendly servers. The ambiance is lovely as well- very welcoming, nicely decorated and a bright open space. The patio is quite large and dog friendly. One of the best brunch spots around- we look forward to coming back.

Saturday morning brunch invite at Prep & Pastry on Grant... and let me just say, I'm very glad I…read moresaid yes to this one. I had previously been to their Campbell location, so this time I wanted to try something completely different for breakfast. I went with the Monte Cristo with a side of their potatoes, and wow this dish absolutely delivered. First, the bread. It's thick, almost like Texas toast, which gives the whole sandwich a perfect structure. Inside, it's stuffed with delicious ham and melty cheese, then battered and cooked into that classic Monte Cristo style. The outside is crispy, the inside is soft and gooey, and every bite is full of flavor. It's the kind of breakfast that makes you pause for a second after the first bite because you know you made the right choice. And the potatoes... how do you make something as simple as potatoes taste that good? They're small, perfectly cooked, and somehow packed with flavor in every bite. My friend ordered the Duck Confit Skillet and she was definitely not disappointed. Just the presentation alone makes it look incredible, but the flavors are where it really shines. It's made with braised duck, shallots, spinach, cabernet-braised cherries, and cherry goat cheese mousse. And let me tell you they did not hold back on that cheese mousse. It was a generous scoop and it paired perfectly with the dish. It also comes with the same delicious potatoes I had, which again, did not disappoint. She ordered her eggs over medium, and honestly that's exactly how I'd get them too. For drinks, she had an iced matcha latte and I stuck with their house coffee. She said the matcha was amazing, and my coffee was exactly what you want with brunch, warm, smooth, and reliable. The staff were super friendly and helpful, which always makes the experience better. The restaurant itself is spotless and really aesthetically pleasing. It's bright, welcoming, and kind of feels like you've stepped into your grandma's cozy cottage kitchen - warm, charming, and just really cute. Safe to say... I'll definitely be back.

When I read the reviews, people raved about how great this chickpea scramble was so I was looking forward. It really wasn't anything to write home about. Bland, dry. The only thing redeeming was the sauces it came with and the potatoes. The ambience was nice and the servers were great, but I would not recommend any vegan go here.

Neither of us had been there in quite a while and were looking forward to it. The restaurant is clean and spacious and we were seated right away and given menus. Eclectic is a perfect name. Everyone should be able to find something that appeals: sandwiches, egg dishes, salads, Mexican, and more. I'd been craving a Rueben and my friend decided to try the taco salad, which is on the seasonal menu. The waiter complimented my choice, saying the Rueben is the best thing on the menu and likely the best Rueben I've ever had, so I was excited. He offered sweet potato fries as an add-on, and I took the offer. Our food arrived soon. I am a bit late on the photos, sorry. A couple bites are gone from my sandwich and the top layer of my friend's salad was already gone. The salad was billed as chicken, beans, cheese, and a host of others things, packed into a generously-sized bowl. She was sure the meat was pork based on taste and color and asked the waiter, but he said it was chicken. My sandwich was plump with corned beef, cheese and sauerkraut. It had lots of tasty sauce but the bottom bread was so soggy that it disintegrated and was difficult to eat. I ended up separating the breads, scraped all the good stuff onto the crispy side of bread, and it was good. I was getting full, so just ate the insides of the second half, so didn't deal with the other soggy toast. The sweet potato fries were lightly crispy and should have been served hot.they did taste good and came with a dipping sauce I enjoyed. All in all, it was a nice lunch out, great company, but the food was nothing special. My sandwich, fries, her salad, two soft drinks came to $54 plus tip.
