I was in the area and needed a little caffeine fix. I found a metered spot out front; the area can be a little busy since it's in the heart of Sunset Junction in Silver Lake. The cafe itself is pretty large, I was surprised by how much seating there was inside. Lots of people meeting up friends or working on their laptops, I noticed they have free wifi. They also have some gift and swag items for purchase. I ordered a couple matchas to go with almond milk. They weren't inexpensive, about $7 each (extra $0.50 for almond milk) and they only come in one size which is pretty small. I enjoyed my matcha though, it had a nice strong matcha flavor. It wasn't bitter despite having no sweetness added, and was nicely balanced. read more

Went here for a coffee date recently. The baristas were so friendly and shared that their signature Burnt Sugar Latte did not, in fact, taste floral even though it contains rose. And they were accurate! It was delicious, well-balanced, and had zero floral notes. The space is fairly large and open with a decent amount of seating. If I lived nearby, I'd be a regular. read more

The coffee and pastries were disappointing. The Honey Lavender Latte was both sour and very weak, yet overly sweet at the same time. The pastries were extremely sweet as well, with even a teaspoon of sugar sprinkled on top. The service was fine, but nothing special, and the café itself wasn't very cozy. I started coming here after moving to the area from WestLa and needing a new day to day coffee shop. I've had nothing but excellent experiences each time at Dinosaur. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is arm, and it offers great people watching. Both indoor and outdoor seating options are available. For optimal work and minimal distractions I would recommend the indoor seating in the back. If you prefer intermittent distractions, like me, the indoor seating in the front is ideal. A fair amount of outlets spread out through the shop, just not at each seat. Their specialty drinks are great but for a long work day I prefer Black coffee and I would says theirs is pretty average. It tends to take some acclimating to after each sip but their is a nice rich aftertaste that helps. Love this place and cant wait to keep coming back. read more

I was meeting a friend for dinner, and he lives in Echo Park. While he lives quite close to Stereoscope and they're great, I wanted to try something new. I've passed Dinosaur Coffee a few times and remembered thinking it looked nice, so when it came up in a Yelp search of places that were in the general vicinity and open late enough to work for me, I decided this was the time to try it. I had no problem finding parking on a nearby side street, and in I went. The shop is beautiful--love the dinosaur aesthetic--and there's a wide variety of seating. Initially, it was packed and I was able to squeeze in at the counter (where I could stand, which I like), but later I was able to move to a table near an outlet. Speaking of outlets, they aren't ubiquitous, but there a reasonable number of them around. I ordered my customary ice mocha, and I was very happy with it. I appreciated that it wasn't too sweet, and the chocolate notes didn't obliterate the espresso notes. Also, service is quite friendly, and the music was excellent. The overall vibe is super chill, with people stepping out to take their phone calls. All in all, a definite win, and I would absolutely come back. read more

They offer a wide variety of products besides coffee and pastries such as mugs, hemp beanies, bandana, pin logo, tote bag, hoodies etc. I have driven this coffee shop copious times (going to work) for the past eight bloody years but never had the audacity to visit. My rationale was there were too many customers in the morning. But today, I finally visited. Their interior design and open layout were rustic with a modern edge. From the outside, it's hard to discern how spacious it is inside not until you actually went in. It's circular centered marble full bar has a 360 degree view of the entire coffee shop whereby ordering can be swift. I came early Saturday (06/10) morning and I was perfunctorily greeted by a male staff. No other customers on line, thus, I was attended swiftly to my needs. I perused their large overhead board menu, and decided to order a hot Latte + wm and a butter croissant. Total cost was $10 bucks. Both items taste good albeit average. Furthermore, I like their dinosaur theme around the coffee shop which make this cafe even cooler. It brings the kid in-you. Lol. Service was swift. Male staff was obsequious with strong energy. Prices were within market value. Plenty of street parking. Overall, I had a good experience and enjoyed my hot latte and croissant. I may visit again in the near future. The natural light here is great! There are 2 tables in the front as well as bar style seating along the walls. At first I didn't notice there was more seats at the back but it was good to know I can come here and most likely not worry about having to find a seat. It's a good place to get work done too. a local roaster's (Woodcat Coffee) coffee shop. It was first time having Woodcat coffee and it didn't disappoint. I had single origin hand pour and a single origin espresso (I believe it was Ethiopia Geed). the store is nice and open and had good amount of sitting area in the back as well as a few tables in the front. I would definitely come back again if I am in the neighborhood. Their baked good options seems to be same supplier as Dayglow coffee. All in all it was a delectable experience. read more

Good coffee in usual variations, really appreciated that they also offer shrubs for when you've had enough caffeine. Looks like some pastries are offered in the morning (by noon they were gone) and there is outdoor seating in front and back. The good: Twas indeed Dinomite! I was pleasantly surprised when my friend showed up with treats from Dino Coffee during a recent visit. I was able to try the miso pastry, matcha donut, berry almond croissant and a few other pastries. The pastries were really high quality. They tasted like artisanal pastries rather than generic soft ones you buy from the grocery store (I've seen some coffee shops stock their pastry section with Costco pastries before). They were flaky, fresh, buttery, and delectable. The bad: I didn't get a chance to try their coffee. The matcha donut was dense. The interesting: I've never had a sweet miso pastry before! #66 in my Coffeeshop Chronicles. Dinosaur Coffee has cute branding but everything else was off-putting. I ordered an iced cardomon cinnamon cappuccino and vanilla latte and both drinks were disappointing. While the vanilla latte was slightly better, they both tasted like basic coffee so I didn't feel like either were worth the price point. Also, other than the actual drinks that were lacking, I had an issue with service, and to explain the problem I need to first describe the store layout. So the coffeeshop has this circular coffee bar set up with seats on both ends, and I had found a seat at the bar on the back end. But given the circular setup, the employees can see customers on all sides. So they saw me sit there waiting for my drinks and never bothered to say anything. It wasn't until I realized a long time had passed and I got up to go around to the front that I saw my drinks sitting there waiting, for who knows how long. I was pretty annoyed by that, because not only did they clearly see me waiting but I didn't even hear them call out my name. Had lunch around the area and decided to find a coffee place somewhat near by, and this place popped up on my Yelp search. Dinosaur Coffee? That sounds pretty cool? Maybe some dinosaur decor of some sort? Maybeeee real dinosaurs serving up coffee? All the thoughts running into my head haha... Parking: right in front, all street parking... if you are an LA driver, you basically have to parallel park like lightning speed before a car zooms through and honks at you to "hurry up" in their speed. We get inside the cafe, right off the bat it was a pretty spacious open concept. Can see the little touches of dinosaur merch that they had surrounding the store front and walls. Ended up getting cold brew, which I mean... for the most part it should be a no fail on making, it was good and strong. The perfect pick me up for the drive back home.
