New Hot Spot !!! Last week me and my friends have decided to try out the new Italian restaurant on Sherman Ave , glad we did ! The restaurant has very spacious outdoor patio, we were very happy to have our early dinner outside. The menu has most of traditional Italian dishes , however, I was pleasantly surprised that the taste of those dishes are incomparable with other places . Eggplant parm app was so good that we had to order another one as well as crispy artichoke. I have ordered cavateli pesto...super yummy ! My friend has ordered pizza , it has thick crust with tasty tomato sauce and plenty of cheese. Drinks were delicious, my favorite was Cali , very refreshing for spring weather. Highly recommend to try desert bamboloni ( fried donuts stuffed with vanilla cream served over Nutella) mama Mia so delicious. I love this place , can not wait to go back already! Bravo Capa Tosta!!! Capa Tosta is my new favorite date spot. My girlfriend and I have been meaning to come here since we live nearby and finally made our way over tonight. We were not disappointed. The service was attentive and we never had a moment where we wished someone would come check on us which was refreshing. I really wanted to like this place. We tried takeout pizzas, we thought $15 for a pizza was fine. When we opened them at home we were completely shocked. The pizzas are tiny squares that were undercooked. The cheese wasn't even melted. The crust seems store bought. The sauce tastes like cheap marinara, it's definitely whatever they put on their pasta dishes and not a quality pizza sauce. The ham was just cut up deli sandwich meat. Judging by the other reviews I'd say we just ordered on a bad night but all the inputs were so low quality I can't imagine how these could be better any other night. The pictures on their website are stock photos, our pizzas were small squares, nothing like the pizzas they feature on their home page. read more

I had high hope for this place but the food was extremely disappointing. We ordered take out. The pizza was no better than public school lunch pizza. The mozzarella stick arrived dry and significantly over cooked. The chicken parm was over done. The tiramisu was nothing more than cream. This hidden gem located in a quiet neighborhood is by far the best Italian food in the DMV. A Italian family owned restaurant where the owners are legitimately from Naples Italy. The chef has worked in some of the best Italian restaurants in the city before opening the restaurant with his brother. Had the pleasure of eating here for Mother's Day yesterday, I was a bit hesitant driving into D.C. coming from VA on a Sunday evening due to traffic but absolutely glad we did. My daughter is great a picking restaurants and Googled "authentic Italian restaurants" and Capa Tosta popped on the list and same day, an IG blogger she follows mentioned Capa Tosta on their IG feed. Having been to Rome and having authentic Italian food, nothing compares to authentic Italian... Capa Tosta hits the mark! from the intimate stylish and very clean restaurant, soothing upbeat music, friendly staff and the personal and intimate attention received by the owner, Aldo... our experience was great just like our experience in Rome! We started with the Fritto Misto which was delicious, crispy and nicely seasoned. For dinner my partner/I ordered the special of the day: a spicy spaghetti with beef and mussels (sorry, can't remember the actual name) recommended by Aldo, (I don't even like mussels) but I said "when in Rome..." and we were NOT disappointed, a nice little kick of spice and I even ate the mussels! My daughter had the spaghetti vongole and loved it, all was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Along with the food recommendation, Aldo recommended the Falanghina La Capranera after I almost settled for the house wine, which was really good but Aldo's recommendation made our dinner even better! To end dinner, my daughter choose the tiramisu, one word - delicious! if we could have sampled each dessert, we would have. What an incredible find! Just walked in and from the delightful Aldo who welcomed us, to the wait staff, to the family chefs (owner Angelo's parents) everyone made us feel special. I really miss the uniqueness and friendly service of Napoli. This place has good (but overpriced) food, ok service, same ambiance but it's nothing special. And the wine list is pretty basic (at least by the glass). If you're in the neighborhood it's probably worth a try. read more

I had wonderful time with friends having dinner there last Saturday. We had some great mixed drinks and red wine Monepulciano. The appetizers were very tasty. Possibly the best night out I've ever had. My fiancé and I sat at the bar. It was a Sunday night (around 8) so the place was pretty empty and we were greeted at the door by the bartender, Arturo. Arturo was behind the bar creating some of the most artistic cocktails I've ever tasted. The food was just as beautifully prepared. I got an old fashioned with several different flavors infused into it. I ordered the chicken parm which came with a very large serving of chicken and some of the most authentic pasta I've ever tasted. Ordered take out. Not good. Ordered Orchetta, Arancini, Chicken Parm, and penne ala vodka, meatballs. First Penne was rigatoni and it was tomato sauce not vodka sauce. Chicken with the penne was inedible. Chicken parm barely had cheese on it, was dry and lacked flavor. Orchetta lacked flavor. Meatballs were dry and flavorless. The only acceptable thing was the pasta being al dente. Also got the cannoli and the cream was not sweet. read more

Visited Capa Tosta last night and it was amazing! Great service and ambiance. The pasta is made in-house and the cocktails are unique and delicious. I threw myself a Birthday party and I couldn't have picked a better place. Angelo went over the menu with me a few times. He made suggestions and wanted it to be a seamless beautiful night. It was!! I never post on these, but after my visit to Capa Tosta last night, I felt COMPELLED to spread the word about this amazing spot (although I fear the word is going to get out and it's going to get too packed!!) I have lived in Washington for 4 years and have never been to a restaurant where the food just blew my mind. But, I've finally found the spot where the food combines with the atmosphere and service to create an unmatched experience! The appetizers of burrata and potato croquettes were incredible, and my tagliatelle bolognese was the BEST I've ever had! We topped it off with dessert of gelato and cannoli - yum! And in a weird twist, the neighborhood's power went out right before we were about to order. Despite that, the management and wait staff kept things running as usual, and it was smooth sailing (even though we couldn't order pizza - that will be for next time!)
