Cracked tensioner arm. Burnt through broken head stud. Darkend heat stress point
Tim B.

I rarely write reviews, however, having read a couple of winging reviews below I felt compelled to do so here. After a $1,000+ CDI (ignition) replacement at Mission Auto Aliso Viejo on my collector 1983 911 SC resulting in an undrivable car I enquired with members of the Porsche Club of America OC chapter for recommendations, Cape Auto was a consistent reliable name. Cape explained there were several possible causes for such a problem and they would give the systems a look over and call me. Brittaney called to recommend they needed a couple of hours labor to go through it in more detail as I appeared to also have a broken head stud which was serious and added to the original problem. James Buck, the owner of Cape Auto enquired what my long term intention was for the car - "it's definitely a keeper having owned it since 1985 and honeymooned in it". He then provided two options. a). A minimal fix, and b). Options for 'factory' upgraded components to do with known mechanical reliability (upgraded head studs, oil system, timing chain & tensioner, etc.) The engine out strip-down exposed two more about fail head studs, not the worsed problem considering under fine inspection one of the floating timing chain tensioner arms was fractured, it was only a matter of time before a total engine loss would have occurred. Wanting to avoid another engine-out job at a later date we did the upgrades and rebuilt the head. The 911 is running better than I can ever recall in my 35 years of ownership. Thanks, Cape Auto, and Brittany for your attention to detail.

I stopped by cape Auto Repair a few months ago and had a pleasant experience and talked to Britney and to my amazement she was so knowledgeable about the Porsche my head was spinning I asked her if she was born in one or does she sleep in one So I was impressed and couldn't wait to have her service my car But she was so booked that I had to go on a wait list of full month But I had the car towed to them for a simple "smog" as I had a check engine light on and I had it scanned and I knew "exactly" what the issue was and I called her and told her exactly what the check engine light is And she told me two hours! So I'm thinking two hours to kill the check engine light and pass the smogs So she called me two days later to say Yeah you're looking at $10,000.00 to fix all the issues with the car And they changed me 2 hours $250.00 to give me EXACTLY what I told them 1st they told me I need tires lol THE TIRES WERE "NEW" with less than 20 miles on them 2nd they found metals fragments on the oil filter I had the car towed to my mechanic immediately ASAP and told me NOTHING NO METAL PARTICLES FOUND And charged me another $230.00 I should have known they are full of you know what when they told me I need NEW tires and I shouldn't drive on them lol Oh and I need bricks and that I KNEW as you hear them grinding BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT I ASKED THEM TO DO! I asked them to smog the car AbedY abedy that's all folks AND NOTHING MORE! absolutely nothing more just a smog NOTHING MORE a simple smog And I called Britney and told her The car is being towed to them from another repair shop WITH THE FULL RESULTS OF THE COMPUTER SCAN IN DETAIL And they charged me two hours for everything I told them lol are you serious? I am so sorry to give them this review as I celebrate small business success and I always support smaller businesses never shop at Walmart take my business to local businesses owners AKA mom and pups IT JUST FEELS RIGHT and a good thing to do it took me almost a month of fighting with my morals and conscious but reality is that they did me wrong FYI I asked them to give a little charge on my battery and that sweet nice and fully knowledgeable girl Britney told me Have the tow truck guy jump me IF I NEED A JUMP OMG how could I've been so wrong

Great shop here, everyone. I had my current car, 996 Turbo, inspected here before purchasing it and it was extremely thorough. Other shops claiming to be Porsche mechanics in the area all refused to do PPIs. Since then, I've had them replace my water pump as well and I felt confident the entire time they would do a great job. Every single car in the shop is a Porsche which is everything I want to see. It is a clean shop and they will show you the nitty gritty details of the work to be done. Recommend 100% to you Porsche owners.

I take all my cars to Cape Auto and they also do most of the maintenance on my race car. Very dependable, quality service and fair pricing.

They took advantage of my young-adult daughter and I'm just not OK with the way they sold her a completely unnecessary procedure. "I recommended your shop to my daughter based off of a large number of positive Yelp reviews. She came in for routine service on her 2015 Prius with ~75,000 miles. See Invoice #xxxxx. I am very disappointed with how this went. Setting aside your ludicrous prices for replacing her filters (a common tactic), you sprung a brake fluid flush on her when that was not something she requested for her service. Toyota's own maintenance guide indicates that the brake fluid for the 2015 Prius does not need maintenance - it is designed to last for the lifetime of the car. It feels like you took advantage of my daughter's youth and lack of car knowledge and robbed her of $250, but before I take to social media or anything, I thought I'd give you all a chance to make this right. To clarify, she had no issues with her brakes going into this, and nothing in the documentation says there was a leak or other problem. You simply did an expensive and unnecessary procedure."

The transmission specialist at the other shop said they needed to take it out to find out what the problem is, and needed to charge a huge diagnostic fee. They called it a tear down inspection, but I had my doubts and brought it to V-Tech for a second opinion. V-Tech found all the issues, explained it to me, and were able to fix it in 1-day. The car definitely had issues, but it turns out it was due to drive belt, timing belt, transmission oil, and air intake hose. We also had a battery causing starter issues, but we knew about that. V-Tech took car of it and charged us a low price! The car is driving great and we're super happy!

Over that time, he's handled oil changes, brake jobs, air and cabin filter replacements, and even some minor electrical repairs. What stands out most is his honesty, knowledge, and attitude. He always takes the time to explain what's needed, never tries to upsell unnecessary work, and genuinely seems to care about doing the job right. When I needed brakes on my Tucson, the parts and labor were significantly less expensive than another shop I had used before, and the quality was actually better. Recently, I purchased a Mercedes-AMG C63, and before buying it, I trusted Adel to give me an honest opinion on whether it was a good car to purchase. That level of trust says a lot. After I bought it, he handled the oil change and brakes for a fraction of what the dealership would have charged. I haven't had any major repairs done there yet, so I can't speak to that personally, but based on my experience over the last three years, I wouldn't hesitate to trust V-Tech Automotive with bigger jobs if they came up. If you're looking for an honest, knowledgeable mechanic who does quality work at fair prices, I highly recommend Adel and V-Tech Automotive.
